Seansgirl · 02/04/2007 21:45

Ria, yes of course Sean Bean pwoar! Haven't had time to read rest of thread will catch up in later, thinking of Sean again off to find my rabbit.... (joking really off to watch the drama on 3 - Mobile)

foxybrown · 02/04/2007 21:48

I'm away to bed too. My baby is kicking me to bits here, good that she's moving, but its getting very uncomfortable!

Sleep well everyone xx

annobal · 02/04/2007 21:57

Thanks foxy - are you really looking to sell yours?

Am reading Gentle Birthing - can't remember the author but it's a very positive read. Think it's on the same lines as Sheila Kitzinger.

Am also off to bed before I start enjoying the brady bunch.

bumperlicious · 02/04/2007 22:13

Off to bed too. Just out of interest though if anyone is still around. Does anyone get really freaked out in the morning and think their bump has gone? Sometimes I can't feel anything, and when I go to touch it I feel like I can't tell if it's as big as it's supposed to be (all memories of flat stomachs having long gone). Just a weird momentary semi lucid thing I get in the mornings. Am I the only weirdo?

annobal · 03/04/2007 07:24

Lol Bumper. Sometimes I forget I'm pg and catch a glimpse of this huge hippo in the shop window!

Seansgirl · 03/04/2007 07:40

No Bumper, you're not alone on that - I worry all the time thinking "sure I was bigger yestersday.."

Hiya Annobal, good to hear fromn you again, sorry i'm not much good at cars either, but i love audis. Zafiras seem to be a popular choice for lots of mums round here and those citroen picassos.

Holly little shits, hope you've recovered from your near death experience, well done to DP tho!!

Daisy, sending masses of > to your SIL, poor thing must be terrified. It took me ages to get prg and had 2 narrow escapes from IVF, and I always count myself lucky that I didn't have to go through it. But to have gone through it and then have this to contend with isn't fair at all. I know its no comfort but my cousin has recently had her third and she bled every single month too and had a healthy baby in the end - but that was just one baby and not twins. Send her our good thoughts

Aaaahhh, Marslady I think thats really nice offer, it restores your faith doesn't it that there are nice people around that want to be friendly

Mytwocents, if I'm not around to say it HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!, I can add the 30 bit, without any guilt that I am rubbing it in as I am an ancient 36, so 30 is very young to me

Off now to shop shop shop at Birmingham Bullring Shopping Centre for a birthday outfit for DDs birthday. Granny is coming too (DM) and I'm sure will feel the need to spoil her!

Seansgirl · 03/04/2007 07:50

gggggrrrrrr..... If anyone has emailed my hotmail since yesterday afternoon, sorry for some reason cannot get on to my email. Will have to sort it out later when come back from shopping

Holly, if you watch it - it was no 2 BTW

riabutterflew · 03/04/2007 09:48

Talking of super-duper parents, mine bought a Zafira to ferry around the grandkids (mainly me and mine)and my Dad always cuts the lawn (when DH does it it always goes brown so I think it's a pretective thing!)[love my parents - good job too considering my in-laws, but thats another rant for another day...]

Re Sean Bean, he is lovely. My friend pointed out he always dies around chapter two of whatever book-film he's in though. Any thoughts re "real" northern men? Do you find they are all on the side of Clarkson (build and general attitude but without the wit) rather than just plain sexy? Maybe it's just 'cos I'm pissed of with DH.

Sorry, long post.

Had a weird dream last night (serves me right as I went to bed early in juvenile manner so I didn't have to talk to DH when he got in from work, which admittedly was before 10pm, but). I went into labour like now, and then something happened and they gave me an injection and I just fell asleep and woke up (apparently 17 hours later - don't know if that's significant) to find I had a baby girl. My mum and dad had had to get all the stuff out of the loft and looked cross and DH had named her and conveniently buggered off to work and so I didn't even know what to call her. How odd? I feel this is probably a premonition about paternity leave...

The world is against me today. DS1 moaning about headache, DS2 cross cos he got cereal for breakfast, DH at work - am sure he said he was off - and the weather is grim (drizzly, grey and windy) so no picnic in the forestry. Will have to spend the day on mumsnet and ebay...
or clean something.
Have a good day all.

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 03/04/2007 10:01

Oops, when I ordered my maternity trousers from Vertbaudet I accidentally opened an account in dp's name! Oh dear! I seriously didn't know that I'd done it, but am now sitting here deciding what to buy!! Hehe!! Dd obviously needs some new summer dresses and loads of pretty sandals and the new baby needs lots of tiny blue dungarees! Oh the joy of catalogue accounts!

I seriously thought I was having the baby this morning! I woke up with serious cramps, so bad that I could hardly move. I was sat there thinking shit, shit, shit and my bump kept going rock hard. It stopped after about half an hour though so it was ok, but I was really worried! Obviously just really strong braxton hicks, I can see why some people think they are in labour with them.

Seansgirl I haven't watched it yet, but have sky+ed it so I shall watch it this evening, was it good? Hope you get spoilt by your mummy!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MYTWOCENTS!! Have a fab day!

Ria, don't you just love daddys? They are the best! I think he only mowed my lawn because he couldn't stand the sight of it every time he came round!

riabutterflew · 03/04/2007 10:02

Holly, hope you are OK after yesterday. Traffic-related incidents are scary. (should have opened your door and knocked them off...)
Bumper - I would have reported them to the school, people used to do things like that when we were at school and then we had to endure assemblies about it. And they wonder why their friends get run over...
Must go and be a parent

annobal · 03/04/2007 10:16

Holly - I also managed to accidently open a vertbaudet account - oops .

Am off to the west end today with ds1 and ds2 in tow for lunch with daddy. They are both currently watching Peppa Pig while I am searching for cars. I'd like an Audi Avant and DH is extolling the virtues of a zafira. What do you go for - style or substance??? As DH doesn't drive, I think I will get my way.

sputnik · 03/04/2007 10:43

Annobal, welcome back! Hope you had a good excuse for not posting for a while, as we were worried about you.

H&A, if I were you I'd aim for a relaxing day after your incident last night and the BHs this morning. Take care of yourself.

I managed to slip on some loose stones outside our house last night, fell over and gashed my knee quite badly. It's getting to be a bit of a tradition with me, as I fell over and gashed my knee (the other one) when pg with DD, still have a scar . Luckily DH was with me as DD freaked out and didn't calm down until I'd got a plaster on it. Better not let her see me go into labour

Love the name change Ria, you should get your kids to ask their dad for cooking lessons so they can make their own bloody gingerbread loafs

sputnik · 03/04/2007 11:34

Bumperlicious, did you decide to host the secret shower or is Marslady doing it? Let us know. I've set up an account sputnikinspace at gmail.com
Also, can we go over the rules as my experience of secret santa is limited to having watched The Office Xmas Special

BTW, I loved giving birth, though I had an easy one and lots of nice drugs. I hate being pg, on the other hand. Small babies are the most wonderful thing on earth and a nightmare simultaneously. Just thought I'd clarify my position on that.

mytwocents · 03/04/2007 12:14

Morning beautiful ladies!!
Gosh sputnik you're in the wars huh? Now please get thee to a sofa and stay there for as long as you can! Get some canoli sent round me...
H young boys are scary, think they havent yet developed any real sense of responsibility so are reckless and fearless in a way most girls are'nt
lol at foxy's gentle sigh...! Glad other first timers, marylou and bumper are reading 'bout positive birth tales too, I've been telling any one who asks that I'm really looking forward to the birth - only tiny pary of whole wonderful experience etc etc and I've started to believe it! We're not going to the hypnobirthing course now as it clashes with nct antanatal but I'll try the excersises out, relaxation and positive affirmations cant do any harm..
Thanks seansgirl, I'm looking forward to my birthday now, I'm not allowed to moan about age any way as most of my girlfriends are over 35 so would be pretty unstmpathetic any way...phones rining.......

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 03/04/2007 12:59

Sputnik you poor thing, hope your knee is better! My dd hates it when someone hurts themselves as well and she can't handle it when people cry. We were in M&S today and she saw a little baby and she walked up to his pram to have a look. It was very sweet and she was talking to him, but when he started crying she got really upset! Hopefully we will be able to get her out of the house before I start giving birth properly. The crying baby she will just have to get used to!

Sorry mytwocents, I got confused, I thought it was your birthday today! It doesn't take much to confuse me these days!

I'm with sputnik on the birth front. It can be a great experience and babies are wonderful, it's just the sleepless nights, bfing and never ending loads of washing that are really awful...oh and pregnancy is pretty crap!

MarsLady · 03/04/2007 13:31

Okay ladies.... I'm doing the secret shower thingy for you all.

Now.... this is what I need you to do.

Please email me on lovelymarslady at aol dot com with:

Your MN name
Your address
The sex (if known) of your baby
Your particular dislikes (eg.. you really really hate pink/pale blue)
And/or things you'd rather not get.

You need to be signed up by 10th April. I will then email you all the details of who you are sending to. You will not be sending to the person who is sending to you!

The budget is £10. You are welcome to go over it if you like, but don't expect your swapper to.

Gifts must be bought and arrive by Tuesday 15th May. You can send as soon as you like.

The other most important thing is that you have to start a new Due in June - Secret Shower presents thread so that I don't have to trawl through this one. Remember I am exceedingly nosey! It is important! lol

Don't worry, once the shower is done I shall delete your addresses and not send you copious amounts of junk mail that involve boosting my coffers........... though if you'd like....... lol!

So ladies... get emailing and we'll see what we see!

Mars

trace2 · 03/04/2007 13:38

hi all what kind of things or thing do i buy for the baby shower?

sputnik · 03/04/2007 15:10

Marslady, that is really sweet of you. You are a truly wonderful person Will e-mail shortly.

I've created a June Baby Shower Thread

Trace2, how are you doing? I've never been to a real life baby shower, but I guess baby stuff, new mum stuff, or just chocolate

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 03/04/2007 15:24

Thank you marslady! How lovely of you to help us! Will email you in a bit .

Trace2 I think little baby things or something useful (or just gorgeous) for mum is the done thing for baby shower. Never been to one either, but I watched one on Friends!

Well done for doing the new thread sputnik, this is fun! It'll be nice to receive something in the post that's not bills!

annobal · 03/04/2007 15:52

Sorry for your knee Sputnik - it sounds painful and should keep you on the couch for at least a week

Mars - it is so lovely to organise, thank you - how exciting to get something in the post apart from junk mail and bills (does that mean I have to stop buying things for new baby on ebay?)

Trace2 - Sorts of things I've bought for baby showers - nice smelly hand wash and hand cream (for the copious amounts of hand washing you will be doing), new mother rescue kits from Neil's Yard, anything lovely for the baby...

Currently watching Peter Pan for the millionth time (DS1 and DS2 dressed up as Peter Pan and Spiderman trying to fly)! Nice relaxing way to spend an afternoon before I need to get supper ready - also gives me some time on the computer

trace2 · 03/04/2007 16:25

sputnik · 03/04/2007 16:58

Trace2, I know you must be having a very stressful time of it. People are very supportive on this thread, as well as a great distraction. You should delurk more often

Seansgirl · 03/04/2007 16:58
