That's really lovely of you marslady and good procrastination technique!! I'm sure bumper will let you know if she would like you to be our organiser. I'm really excited, I have already decided what I'm going to do for mine, just need to know if I'm doing pink, blue or white!!

Hope everyone had a good night x

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 02/04/2007 09:33

HOORAY!! Paul's on Tikkabilla...ahhhhh!!

marylou23 · 02/04/2007 10:18

Hello! I've just set up an email too: [email protected]. Yay! Foxy, I watched Paul D last night too. Oh my God. So scary. My idea of hell on earth, I think...

Daisybump · 02/04/2007 11:06

Just a quick in and out again....I just can't stay away

baby shower...great idea, but how will it work?

e-mail address...set this up the other day for joining [email protected] (not too keen on putting my RL e-mail address on here where anyone can see it...just call me parpanoid )

Sputnik...put your feet up love.....wish I could get a cleaner, but think it will defo be one of my conditions on going back to work full time.

My SIL in hospital....she's about 16 weeks with teins and has been bleeding every month like a period. Bubbas both fine, but she's having a scan today to see if they can pinpoint the bleed site. then they might consider trussing up her cervix like a turkey until she's much further on....think she's gonna be on bed rest for a long time! Send her lots of vibes girls....the babies were IVF and, wlthough they have a DD this was their last try...its taken about six goes at it and loads of money for them to get this far.....couldn't bear it if anything awful happened.

bumper our friends decided to go down the househusband route...he loves it, but its funny listening to a man do the grumbling about not enough help with the house and kids, and his wife is a bit odd about it....she took a week off as her job is V stressful, then went skiing and left her DH and kids at home (WTF?) But it works for them so....also don't worry about your career...I know lots of women who had kids early in their career, rather than waiting like I did and it seems to have been much easier on them than it has on me. now that I am (in DH's words....a woman of a certain age ( and he even voiced that one) I'm finding it all a bit much as I'm bloody knackered most of the time.

That should keep you all going...I'll dip in again soon, but can't stop as that would be just too rude. Taking DS and DNs (nephews) to the museum, then the work of satan that is McD's for lunch. Sun is shining, life is good, Scotland lovely and I'm feeling hormonal and homesick and don't want to leave

BadZelda · 02/04/2007 11:57

hey bumperlicious - if you're on a mac you can download a programme called 'adium' - it's an app that lets you chat on lots of different networks, like ICQ, Yahoo, GChat, etc. Trillian does the same thing if you're on a PC.

Happy Monday everyone!

BadZelda · 02/04/2007 12:01

p.s. everyone - please be careful about publishing your emails as just [email protected] - as bots can easily pick them up and add them to spam lists. Put some spaces in to scupper them e.g. blameless at badzelda dot com . If this is super obvious please kill me - just my concern about your privacy, and brain is possibly fuzzy.

marylou23 · 02/04/2007 12:24

Thanks bad Zelda - not obvious, just sensible. Hey ho, at least if I get inundated with spam it'll only be in my MN account...
What a lovely day! I think a gentle stroll might be in order.

mytwocents · 02/04/2007 13:09

Crikey!!

Pelvic floor.

off to catch up.......

sputnik · 02/04/2007 14:27

Marslady, it's really nice of you to offer, Bumper I think you should take her up on it, I was wondering how it would work for you otherwise.

Daisybump, sending tonnes of good vibes to your SIL, some people go through hell in their pgs, makes me feel bad for moaning as soon as I have the slightest problem . Maybe you should point her in the direction of MN for support, if she's not on already. Hope you have a great time in Scotland, I haven't been there for years but it's really a beautiful place, not surprised you miss it.

Mytwocents, pelvic floors to you too

mytwocents · 02/04/2007 15:02

Thought I'd get you clenching sputnik!!
Daisy that sounds miserable, poor lady, made me thankful for my relatively good health, so far. I love scotland too, esp the craziness of festival time...

How good is this thread? Secret presents? Yes please, count me in, will set up new mail acct in a mo.
Feeling pleased with myself ; it's my 30th birthday on thurs and have just made the invitations myself!! have made a right mess, stuck scissors and my elbow to the desk several times, got dried flowers in my hair and paint up my nose but am chuffed with my efforts!
Would usually be planning what alcohol to buy and making up delicious and dangerous cocktails - Am ordering food instead!!
Feeling ok 'bout turning 30 I think...

Foxy, if you still need to - can use needle and thread to attatch mini eggs, thick cotton thread best and nontoxic, just in case, gosh I'm crafty today!

sputnik · 02/04/2007 15:19

Sounds like you will have great fun in the future doing painting and crafty things with your LO. I love that stuff.

Speaking of mini-eggs, my local supermarket has run out of lindor. They have all the others. Did I really eat that many? I'm a chocolate snob so didn't get anything else, probably for the best.

marylou23 · 02/04/2007 15:32

Calling all Ocado shoppers and chocoholics. Just got this code - order a shop today and you get a free easter egg. COU3875834
Doubt it'll be Lindt, but you can always give the free one to DP/DH and demand a Lindt one in return...
Love the sound of your invitations, mytwocents. And Daisy, am really thinking of your SIL. I've been there. It's tough. Hope she's got lots of support around her. And it does put our own gripes and moans into perspective.
Doggus, they do the extrememly chocolatey biscuits in milk chocolate too (no orange). Just thought you should know. Good to get a balanced diet...

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 02/04/2007 18:22

MUST STOP EATING LINDT MINI EGGS!!! My dp is away again so am at my parents and my mum still has loads of choc from her class to eat! It's brilliant here!

Hope your sil is ok daisy. Poor thing, it must be really worrying for her after all she's been through.

Mytwocents you've had a crafty day! I love doing things like that! I make jewellery, paint toyboxes and do cross stitch and sometimes do cards too! It's so much more fun when you make these things yourself, people really appreciate the effort you've gone to.

Hope everyone has had a good day x

riabutterflew · 02/04/2007 20:30

I promise I was not wallowing in my former life fantasising about J Clarkson!!! (was the Sean mentioned Sean Bean? or a different one?) Actually had a hormonal raging incident at DH... it needed saying.
Have been so busy trying to be perfect school-holiday mum today (gardening activities and baking - DS1 said that my ginger loaf would be a perfect cake for a builder as it looks like a brick. This was the reight name change for me!!!)
Have missed so much yesterday (lunch at my mums - think it's so she knows it's one less meal that might poison the kids). and today. Sending happy thoughts to everyone (I don't like lindt chocolate - am I really that abnormal?)

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 02/04/2007 20:30

Is there no-one around tonight?

I forgot to say on my earlier thread that as I was getting in the car so dp could drop me off at my parents some kid on a moped tried to run me over! I was in the road and there were 4 young boys coming towards me on their mopeds so I closed the car door and stood close to the car so they could get by. Three of them came past in single file and one of them came from the back and overtook all of them and swerved really close to me as if he was trying to frighten me. I shouted "fucking hell" and they sped off. It was a bit scary as I felt his jacket as he went past me!
Dp shouted "Get in the car" and he went round the other way from where they went to cut them off. He was so mad I thought he was going to kill them. We overtook them on a main road and dp pulled in front of them at some traffic lights and got out the car and pushed the kid that tried to scare me off his bike! They were only about 17 and the kid was clearly shitting himself! He stood there giving dp lip and all his mates rode off! I took his number plate and we drove off. I was a bit cross with dp for over-reacting, but this kid was a little shit and I hope he got taught a lesson! I am just glad that dp didn't punch him, which I was convinced he was going to do he was that mad!

Sorry for the long post, but I had to share my near death (!!!) experience with you all!!

Hope everyone is having a good evening having a life hence not being on mn like me the saddo!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 02/04/2007 20:31

haha at the name change!! Brilliant!

foxybrown · 02/04/2007 21:02

Hello, good to hear everyone seems in good form this evening! Loving the name change too!

Little bastards Holly. Secretly smiling at DP knocking him off his scooter!

Had MW today, baby head down so thats good, all else fine. She laughed at measuring with toilet roll. Told TP that I'm in danger of blood clots in my legs because of the varicous veins. Weeeeellll, we did KIND OF have a conversation that if they start to hurt I should put my feet up ..... It COULD happen. In extreme circumstances, but he doesn't need to know that!

Monday night TV is exceptionally poor - time for Americas Next Top Model

Thats lovely of Marslady to offer to do the secret shower. There are some lovely people on here.

annobal · 02/04/2007 21:15

Evening all,

I haven't posted for ages - huge appologies. Everyone seems to be doing very well (obviously haven't read everything I've missed out on - a name change and over 500 posts - eek!!)

Absolutely nothing on tv tonight - I may have to go to bed as I am sat here by myself watching the brady bunch...

Can anyone give me any advice - we need a new car and it must be one that
a. fits 3 car seats in back
b. not too expensive
c. slightly higher off the ground

Any advice gratefully received!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 02/04/2007 21:17

Am a bit bored! My parents are watching a programme about some old man walking in the Lake District! Mmmm interesting ! Also forgot my book, so can't even read.

I love my parents, they are so great! My dad just got home from work and he said "oh on my way home I dropped by your place and mowed your lawn!". Brilliant!! I am so spoilt!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 02/04/2007 21:19

Hi annobal! Not very good at cars, so can't help you really, but one of my friends has just bought a Zafira and she loves it! Fits you criteria I think! How are you? Hope all is well!

annobal · 02/04/2007 21:26

Thanks Holly - that has been an option - also audi estate I'm quite keen on. Just can't make a decision!!

Your parents sound amazing - how cool that he has mowed your lawn!

Everything is fine here - had a very busy weekend with friends staying and am now really paying for it - could barely move today - luckily I had ds' booked into the gym so I read a paper in the lounge.

We're off for a week in Norfolk (Morston) next week which I can't wait for. Anyone else going anywhere nice over easter?

bumperlicious · 02/04/2007 21:27

Evening all, been a bit quiet today. Good to know we all still have real lives

I'm just reading The New Experience of Childbirth by Sheila Kitzinger. It's quite good. A bit wordy, I keep finding myself getting lost in clauses and parentheses, but then I'm a bit of a skim reader so probably my own fault. But I am starting to feel a bit "right on" about the whole birth thing now. It is an advocate of natural childbirth, but not evangelical, and puts more emphasis on a the joy of childbirth, whatever choices you make about drug etc. Ok, you may all laugh, especially you experienced ones, but it says why should we give our bodies over to doctors and nurses who often make decisions that aren't necessarily in our best interests. We have a right for our birth to be how we want it. Apparently in 1982 some top obstetrician from the Royal College of something released an edict saying that women were on;y to give birth on their backs and in beds, they weren't allowed to squat, kneel, stand etc. . This Sheila women and 5000 other women marched in protest and he resigned. Scary huh? Anyway, listen to me boring you all with that malarky!

Hope you have all had good days. Scary experience for you H&A, but is always secretly quite nice when DP/H's over react when trying to protect you!

I found myself so irrationally angry this morning at a bunch of school kids who ran out in front of me at a pedestrian crossing while my light was still green. Had to slam on my breaks to avoid hitting them (though why did I bother?!) and bibbed my horn at them which I never do, and the bastards turned round and stuck their fingers up at me! I was so pissed off I nearly rang their school to complain and suggest a green cross code lesson for the kids, but don't think it would have got me anywhere. Plus I stuck my fingers up at them too which wouldn't have sounded so good if any of the kids got found out! But i was sooooo furious. I think it was a mixture of fear and protectiveness over the bump. Not felt like that before.

foxybrown · 02/04/2007 21:30

ANNOBEL!! I was wondering where you were!

You can have my Renault Megane Scenic if you like. We've got 3 kids seats side by side in the back and it has a decent size boot. No room for anyone else though. Depends if you want a 5 seater or 7. We're going to be looking at the Zafira next - doesn't look that much bigger, just not much room in the boot unfortunately. As long as we can get the double buggy in and a roof box for it we should be ok.

Bless your dad Holly. Wish my parents weren't so crap. My mum doesn't remember to ask how the kids are let alone how I am! And my Dad's a miserable old git, but they say we choose our husbands to be like our dads...

foxybrown · 02/04/2007 21:41

x posts with you Bumper, but I do get what you are saying about the 'joy' of childbirth. I'm not big on the whole treating it as a religious experience type thing, snacking on the placenta etc etc but I figured out before I had my first that this is what our bodies do, and going along with that helped me alot. It can (and should IMO) be a positive experience, but has been male-lead for so long that the 'experts' have never actually done it and its moved so far away from a natural process. That's why midwife led birthing centres are such a good idea - even if they've not actually had children - they at least know how womens bodies work. (although I've known a couple of great male midwives too).

I'll obviously give a gentle sigh and pop DD2 into the world, before reapplying my lippy and doing the school run.

In my leopard print heels.

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 02/04/2007 21:44

Grrr...I'm going to bed. My bro has just stolen the laptop and gone out with it. I am using the PC, but he has broken the mouse so I am having to do everything the old fashioned way and it's taking forever!

Sleep well everyone x
