Congratulations everyone! So exciting! We aren't finding out the gender but I'm convinced it's a boy. We have a name sorted for each though so not much to do now but wait!

Congratulations to everyone who's found out if they're having a boy or girl! It's all so exciting! I find out 25th August, feel like it's a girl but I could very well be wrong!

Mrscorr what's your sons name? Might help us to suggest a name that works well with it rather than plucking any unusual name out of the air. Saying that we were considering the name Xander and I think the female version Xanthe is lovely too and very unusual, so just throwing that one out there

His name is Reuben. I loved it straight away but my husband took some convincing. If this baby had been a boy he would probably have been called Rory as I think that goes well with Reuben. I've sort of made a rod for my own back now as I feel I need to choose an equally unique name but nothing is jumping out at me. I actually like Xanthe but I'm Scottish & my accent makes it sound strange lol!

Reuben is a lovely name! It is on my (huge) list for this one, if it turns out to be a boy.

I agree Reuben is a lovely name, how about Rowan for a girl, I think it can be spelt Rowen too?

Thank you, I love his name. I've never met another Reuben but he suits his name so much now. I have the accent problem with Rowan too, it sounds like rowing haha! My husband likes Darcy, I like it too but I would prefer something more unique. Luckily I have some time to decide. Typically, there are loads of boy names I like now that I'm having a girl!

Top of our girl list at the moment is Penelope. I don't think it's terribly uncommon any more, but it isn't overused either, I don't think.

decaff I love Penelope it's on our list too dependent on what we have of course, I like the way you can shorten it if you wish to Penny. We also like Persephone and Betsy for a girl. I'm a bit shorter on ideas for boys!!!

I love old fashioned names such as Chester but also unique names, like Fletcher. I have a growing list but my partner likes none of them. :(

Had assumed we were having a girl and had settled on Effie but a boy has thrown a spanner in the works!

Decaf, we have similar taste in names. Other names for a boy I like are Dexter, Declan & Jackson.
I want to choose a name that suits a wee girl & a grown woman, that isn't too girly so she can still be taken seriously & that goes with Reuben. Not asking for much am I?!

I've always been stuck on boys names, thankfully dh agreed to Jude after originally saying absolutely no! Some girls names I liked other than the name we have picked (Ivy Rose) are:

Violet was a strong contender! I really like Ivy Violet Rose but it's too much if a mouthful!

I adore Wyatt too! It's so difficult choosing a name, especially if you & you're partner have different tastes. If you really love a name don't give up on it. I didn't give up on Reuben & got my way eventually. My husband loves the name now so it proves I was right ( as usual 😂).

@Maybebaby2 this is just getting scary now! My sister chose Ivy Rose for her baby but Violet Rose was her second choice!

How funny disinterested me and your sister obviously have the same taste in names I love Chester its super cute for a little boy but sounds great for a grown man too.

I'd given up on the name Jude because dh was not having it at all. I hadn't mentioned it for ages and one night he came home and just said he had changed his mind, something about being able to relate to it because it was the name of a character in a film he liked... ok whatever works for you dh! I was just glad he changed his mind!

Well I've had the name Rose picked out for years and when I asked my husband what girls name he'd like he said Rose so erm I guess that's decided. Annoyingly I love choosing names and it was kinda one of the things I was looking fwd to doing. Still there's always the middle name. Currently it's maybe going to be Everly as it's a combo of both the grandmas names. I did think I'd made the name up but turns out it's quite popular and the minute. Not 100% convinced on it yet though.

I'm still feeling ill at 16+1 spent almost all of today in bed. I've not done any housework for 2 months now and I barely leave the house. Work from home on my laptop in bed, its grim.

Some great names there. Willow, Ivy, Violet and Rose also on my girls list along with Daisy, Flora and Poppy. DH favourite at the moment is Betsy from my list.
For boys we're still working on it but we have Atwell, Barden, Beattie and Lewis so far...

All gorgeous nature names Missy and Betsy is so pretty too. My cousin named her little boy Lewis I think it's a great name and would have considered it if she hadn't already used it.
