EllieK & octo - thanks for the pointer to a funny thing happened . I know it can only be funny in hindsight, sure we'll all have stories to share too soon! Just got a row from dh for laughing out loud... (Haven't let on yet that I am posting on here, don't want him nosing on me and my moans!)

Glad I checked in quickly before an early night. Hoping for a good night's sleep for everyone x

mammyjo · 23/03/2007 21:48

That poor woman on the kitchen floor. I would have freaked totally if they had said to me that the placenta was coming first, but then oops no its your vagina!!!

Have had a delicious glass of red wine, havent had wine for months. Hoping it will either get things going properly or help me sleep.

Ellie, cant believe your agency makes £4.50 per hour just from you. Makes the flowers seem slightly less of a gesture now!

Sleep well everyone. Good to see you home oooggs, glad you are ok but hoping you get to meet your twins very soon.

EllieK · 23/03/2007 21:52

tell me about it mammyjo!
I earn £8 ph and that includes a percentage for holiday pay (if i actually take time off i don't get paid as i've already had it IYSWIM), but i've seen the invoices to the company i've been at and they charge £12.50 ph

I used to work for a nursing agency who seem to operate like that too. They would always pay holiday pay as say 10% on top of the wage (dont know if thats what it was) so basically then if you dont work you earn bugger all. Wonder how much they were making off me on an hourly basis? Never really thought about that before.

EllieK · 23/03/2007 22:00

it was only because i said that the £7 i started on wasn't enough, and they told my boss she'd have to pay more for me , that i found out, i got on really well with my boss and she showed me their invoice, then told them not to be so cheeky and to take it out of their commission

i've been there 10 months and have made them pay for ALL my antenatal appts, and i now get mat leave, some of which they have to pay, so we got our own back

Thanks for the email glitterkitty / Ellie, it really brightened my day up!
Thanks for trying out the egg and vodka thing, I was wondering if that was true or it was some sort of myth. Bet coca cola does the same (seems to do everything else )

Bump has been incredibly active tonight, bet he'll sleep all day tomorrow, active periods seem to be followed by days of no movement, when I get a bit worried.

Well, I'd better go to bed to get warm, it;s freezing tonight! Good night everyone.

Am wide awake! Have sore neck after seeing phyio yesterday - knew it would hurt but not so to keep me awake - have taken some paracetomol and more flower waters and am sat here with hot bean cushion on neck.

Waiting for it to go so can return to dhs snoring!

bumble75 · 24/03/2007 07:37

Morning GMM! Is lovely & sunny here in Ediburgh this morning, makes up for the rubbish sleep I had - my back and ribs are killing me.

Am going to attempt to go into town today to get a few things today & enjoy the sunshine - hope everyone has a lovely day!

EllieK, have sent you my email address to add to your list and love the new thread title!

morning cb

claricebean · 24/03/2007 07:41

Morning bumble.

Just having a quick MN fix before going to make our Saturday morning routine muffins.

Slept as usual - broken and uncomfortable. Still, DH home this evening .

liath · 24/03/2007 08:01

Yes, not a cloud to be seen here in sunny Edinburgh . Woke up at 5am, but at least slept well until then.

Glad you're out of hospital ooggs, but at 8 admissions. Really hope next time is to have these babies!

Had a rough day at work yesterday, it's only one day a week but think I may have miscalculated slightly by working to 38 weeks. Only next friday to go at least. Got back yesterday to find DH had taken delivery of oxygen & entonox cylinders and a vast crate stuffed full of medical equipment. All I have to do now is NOT go into labour for another week as the midwives here go on call for a home birth from 38 weeks. Very exciting!!

By the way I picked up 2 freebie squirty bottles of antibacterial hand gel at work yesterday. I've got some already & they're great to have in the changing bag. If anyone wants one let me know.

Right - no more procrastinating - have to go to Ikea to pick up the mattress for dd's big girls bed. Ikea on a saturday - wish me luck.

liath · 24/03/2007 08:07

Oh balls, it doesn't open till 10am. Maybe Dh will be up by then, he can go.

bumble75 · 24/03/2007 08:10

Liath - good luck in Ikea, brave lady!

GMM - am in Colinton, mustering up the will to get out of my pjs and go for a walk for the papers while sun still out...

CB - Saturday morning muffins? That sounds like a routine I want to get into!

geordiemacminx · 24/03/2007 08:11

The one in Glasgow opens at 9- how crazy is that?

I absoloutely hate ikea with a passion... especially on a weekend.. all those cretinous people walking the WRONG way round the shop letting thei ferrel children run riot...ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

On the plus side its near dobbies at loan hean which I LOVE!!!!!

geordiemacminx · 24/03/2007 08:13

I wish I lived near a fab little deli that sold papaers and lovely coffee and pastries... somewhere like... Morningside!!! Having said that if I could afford to live there I could probabaly afford to have a little man called jeffery that would go and get them for me!!!!

bumble75 · 24/03/2007 08:21

My Mum & Dad are coming from Aus to stay over here for a few months to meet the baby - they found a short term let on a flat in Morningside so me & dh went to check it out - am SO jealous, is so lovely and in such a great spot. Told them we were going to stay in the flat and they could have our house!

Katy44 · 24/03/2007 08:23
