December 2017 babies #6 - dating scans, gender reveals, the beginning of bumps & the 2nd trimester!

Thread #6 for the chatty mums due in December (or thereabouts!).

As we move into the second trimester there will be more dating scans, gender reveals and burgeoning bumps - and hopefully a reduction in nausea!

Thewinedidit I've had the worst morning sickness today and it's scan day for me too. I didn't think I was nervous but it has been pretty awful today. Glad I don't have pupils in until 11.35.
Stumpy I am the same with the work trousers I've just put on. THey were loose last week, I've not gained any weight since then but they are snug today. OH's mum is desperate to gets cots, prams, high chairs (?!?) from a friend just now and I'm like "wait a minute. I'm not half way yet and I need clothes before baby needs a high chair!"
Zaber we are kind of in the same boat with my uncle. He hasn't met OH even though it's been 5 years as uncle was a complete arse after my grandfather died. I decided that if he didn't send me a 30th birthday card then I was telling him about the baby. He could find out from someone else. Once I made that decision I felt better. I still feel a bit guilty but then he was a total arse. Hope your decision has put to bed some of your worry and anger.

Everything was fine at the scan ☺️ we're now measuring at 13 weeks so due date has moved forward to 20th December. Baby wouldn't stop moving so really struggled to get pictures and measurements but finally got an NT measurement of 1.5 which seems ok.

Ahh so relieved!! Any gender guesses?

Got my 12w scan tomorrow (will be 13+3) and i'm feeling really nervous. If all is well, we'll be telling our family and friends over the weekend.

Congratulations Carley those are great pics. And same NT measurement as me, so fingers crossed all OK.

Aaah it's a baby! Moved forward due date to 22 December now. Little wriggler wouldn't stay still. NT 1.6. I'm guessing girl. Probably totally wrong though.

@Oysterbabe I did, low risk but 1:468 which was higher than I'd hoped for, apparently my bloods are absolutely perfect and there's no biochemical indication at all but the higher nuchal and my age are the factors. I was really really upset and have decided to do Harmony for reassurance. The screening midwives have been wonderful and very reassuring that it will be a low risk result but I feel like I need to do it. Hand holding appreciated x

14 weeks today for me, hello second trimester, I didn't think I would ever get here!
An embarrassing one coming from me. Has anyone had any issues with, Erm, being bunged up down the bottom end? 😂 I don't know if it's a common pregnancy issue (I didn't have it with my other 2 children) or if it's to do with all the anti-sickness meds I'm still taking but it's horrendous! I'm going to try drinking fresh orange to see if it helps, any other tips?

Toots.. I've been suffering from the beginning! It's very common in pregnancy. Try prune juice and upping your fibre intake!! I have had to resort to a prescription but I have had problems like this for a long time. I think most people can manage their symptoms through changes in diet. I hope things clear up for you soon x

You'll be fine Carlotta, that's still really good odds. Having not had a call, I'm fully expecting mine to be similar as I'm 36 with a 2.5 measurement. I hope you get the reassurance you need quickly. Xx

@Oysterbabe we'll probably be similar as I'm 34 with 2.8, what gestation were you? I was 13 + 1. My logical mind knows it's fine but that horrid niggling Nancy that lives in my head is bothering me! Silly cow! Xx

We really don't have the cash for the Harmony, it's a magic card job! Good job my OH is understanding of my craziness x

2 clinics, 2 days, 4 members of staff and 11 needles later we have 0.75 vial of blood! Hopefully it'll be enough.

Eeek @MaryShelley1818 I'm glad I'm not trying to get your blood, you sound a challenge!

I was 12+5 when I had mine. It does sound like they'll be about the same. The price is worth it if you'll spend your whole pregnancy worrying otherwise.

Carlotta - hope you get some reassurance soon from the Harmony test. We did a similar NIPT just for the reassurance and can totally understand how you feel.

Right, I'm going to now try to have a super productive afternoon before running home to pack! I'm sure it'll be Thread 7 or 8 by the time I'm back!

My little wriggler wouldn't stay still either but everything looks good! Doc still reckons girl

Had my scan! And there's an actual baby there. Still feels a bit surreal. Baby did not want to cooperate at all so they could only date me no other measurements. I've to get a blood test done which I was surprised at. I thought they may have rescanned later.

My EDD has also been changed from xmas eve to the 19th.

I've stayed Team Yellow even with the NIPT, here's my bean today

Evening ladies. Congrats on all the scans, wonderful news. So pleased for everyone.

I'm away at the moment with DH for a few days near the coast. We've been and bought some fresh fish today and are cooking that in our accommodation tonight and chilling out. It's been a beautiful day in the sunshine and I'm absolutely shattered as usual.

Catching up with some old friends tomorrow who are local to where we're staying so looking forward to that, they have not long had a baby so looking forward to newborn snuggles!! Will be the first time I've held a baby since I got pregnant and I think it'll make it all the more real.

I'm 14+4 today and although the nausea has reduced dramatically I do still keep getting lightheaded easily and so so tired still but I'm happy with that as it kinda reminds me I'm actually pregnant. I'm starting to get more of a full shape to my tummy rather than just extra weight at the front now.

All very exciting.

Oh, and the important question is..... what's on everyone's menu for this evening?

Dinner tonight is undecided.. I was gonna make a turkey carbonara style thing but forgot we are going to a mothercare baby event in 30 mins.. so, maybe nandos?
