Hello! Just got my bfp, would love to join up with others expecting next Feb.

My DD is 16 months, so we're expecting (almost exactly!) a 2yr age gap all being well. EDD 2nd Feb.

unglamorousmum I'm 8+1, was feeling extremely nauseous for the last week and managing little bits of dry/ plain food for now. It is comforting though after having MC in March makes it feel a bit more real!

EmilyK83 · 21/06/2017 13:50

Thanks Sofie - they're taking precautions in case it's an ectopic pregnancy, fingers crossed there's nothing to report...

Exciting that you've had your booking in appointment, are you the first on this thread...? Still a month until mine! And sorry to hear about the nausea, hope it eases up soon.

Been speaking to my dad today, who told me that all of my mum's pregnancies (I'm the oldest of five...) were pretty plain sailing, and without much ms at all...I'm hoping I go the same way!

TriJo · 21/06/2017 13:56

Booking appointment this morning here. Usual rapid fire questions about just about everything imaginable. Got told to drink 4 litres of water a day because of heat and breastfeeding, got warned about the usual food to avoid etc. She's away for when my 16 week appointment should be so it's in the week when I'm 14 weeks instead (long stretch to 28 weeks then with only the scan in the middle!).

TriJo · 21/06/2017 13:57

Apparently there's a push on in my hospital at the moment to do them earlier - I was 12+1 for booking last time!

EmilyK83 · 21/06/2017 14:25

TriJo - when I went for my group appointment on Mon, some of the mums there had their scan forms waiting for them as their booking appointments had been confirmed for pretty much week 12...!

limomo82 · 21/06/2017 14:35

Ugh. The heat.
Ugh. The horrible metal taste in my mouth. I forgot I had this last time
Ugh. Soooo tired

Ugh!!!!

SofiePendragon · 21/06/2017 15:36

I think around 8 weeks is pretty standard for booking in around here - I'm sure it was a similar time with DD. I already have my scan date as the GP requested that when I saw him a couple of weeks ago.

I've opted to have my care at a hospital which is slightly out of area, so might have to double up on some appointments l, blood tests etc. Our local unit (where I gave birth to DD) is now just a midwife led unit due to lack of doctors and I can't go there as I had an emcs last time. It can take over an hour to reach the area consultant led unit in rush hour and I've heard really bad things about overcrowding there. Hoping I've made the right decision, but I guess I can change it later if needed.

Toomanydogs · 21/06/2017 15:40

I'm still waiting for my appt to come through, checked with Drs and they've definitely referred me to midwife, last time my booking in appt was at 7 weeks, I'm already 8 weeks now and not heard anything. Not sure how to contact midwife centre to check!

SquintySquirrel · 21/06/2017 17:01

Hi all, just been catching up on this thread and wanted to ask a question about early scans.

I'm not having any bleeding or anything but I'm considering having an early scan at 7-8 weeks privately just to check how things are progressing. I've got sore boobs and have had mild nausea and cramps but nothing major.

I think an early scan would hopefully give me some aaaurance that things are going in the right direction - my booking in appt is when I'm 8 weeks.

Is/has anyone else going/been for a private early scan? I wasn't sure if there was any risk involved in early scanning either Confused

SofiePendragon · 21/06/2017 18:42

squinty I'm not going for an private early scan but many people do and I think it's part of standard care in many countries. I dont think there's much risk attached to having one, although studies have shown that babies who have a lot of scans during the whole of the pregnancy (eg for possible slow growth) are more likely to be left handed.

The reason I'm not planning have an early scan is because I don't think I'd find it reassuring for very long - I'd still worry that something could have happened since the scan and so I think in my case it would be a waste of money. The NHS scan I have booked in a couple of weeks will be at 12 weeks by dates, but I suspect I ovulated late and therefore may need a second scan for all the measurements to be done and I have no concerns that that would affect the baby.

Loxy4527 · 21/06/2017 18:49

Limo Ugh indeed.

Today my tits feel like they're about to fall off, I'm soooo tired and I've swung between strong nausea and ravenous hunger. I've been telling myself how lucky I am to have these problems but got annoyed when I came home from work, had an hour long nap then when I woke up saw I had a missed call from an unknown number - That could have been the midwife! Hoping it was and that they'll call back tomorrow or something.

Squirrel I've booked myself a private early scan for when I'll be over 8 weeks. Mostly for reassurance, partly impatience to see the baby. I'm also going away on holiday in my 10th week so I thought if there's anything wrong I'd like to deal with it before then or (hopefully more likely) I can feel happier going away knowing it's all okay.

Thattwatoverthere · 21/06/2017 19:02

I had my booking in scan this week at 6+3 and my reassurance scan is next Monday! So nervous and excited!

Today is the point i lost the last one so I'm doing a lot of bump bloat stroking and encouraging words to hang in there. My symptoms seem so much stronger this time around which I'm hoping is a good sign whilst also wishing I didn't feel quite so sick...

GingerRogers84 · 21/06/2017 19:06

I've got my first midwife appointment on Monday. ☺️

So people who've gone through this before how quickly did your boobs grow? I'm about 7 weeks and I can't get anything with a button done up properly and my bras won't last much longer! 😳

I'm cool with getting a maternity bra but what do I do about the clothes? Does maternity wear fit like normal and stretch as you go along or does it come with massive bump room ready?
On the bump front I know I won't need anything new for a fair while? Just something to fit this pair in!

How do you cope with ever growing boobs that hurt?

Thattwatoverthere · 21/06/2017 19:40

ginger if you find out let me know, mine are huge and I can't comfortably wear a bra. Bralets are better so I think I need to invest in a few of those... my stomach is so bloated I can't wear trousers easily so wondering if I'll need maternity bottoms sooner rather than later too

TriJo · 21/06/2017 21:07

Ginger I found the Panache Andorra good in the first trimester last time - the stretch lace gives some growing room. I went up 6 cup sizes last time though...

That Dresses ftw :) I just can't be dealing with waistbands right now.

choochooo · 21/06/2017 21:18

Get ye all to bravissimo! They will fit the bras to you properly and make sure they are comfortable and unrestrictive.

Early scans - I always have one because of my anxiety but I am waiting til I'm past 8 weeks this time. It's personal preference if you want one but I find it comforting to know what's happening, good or bad.

EmilyK83 · 21/06/2017 21:25

I second Bravissimo, they're amazing!! Tbh I'm lucky in a way, lost 6 stone last year and have gone from a 38FF to a 32DD so have all sizes in my drawer!!

SofiePendragon · 21/06/2017 21:37

I went to bravissimo last time. They are awesome. Their clothes brand pepperberry is also good (but pricey) if you need clothes to fit over boobs.

Otherwise on the clothes front, some of the online retailers sell different clothes for different stages, so the tops don't all have a big bump bit. It's worth looking at breastfeeding clothes for that as well (and you can wear them again post partum).

Emwahs · 21/06/2017 21:44

Thanks for the scan wishes, it turns out I am bang on dates 7+6. It was hard for them to get a clear picture but you can just make out the head on the left and there was a strong heart beat, so I think I can relax now until the next scan! Compared to many other places it was good value at £59, think. I drank too much water tho as the scanner was shocked at how full my bladder was needles to say I had to race for the loo as soon as I got out of the room!

@ginger I need new bras I keep falling out of mine! Just don't want it to end up costing me a fortune.

If you don't have a bravissimo nearby, you need boob or bust. They have a website and a facebook group and have helped my tatas go from a (measured by M&S) 38F to a very happy 34H.

Today, I am pregnant. Very hot, not so pukey, but no bleeding, so YAY.

choochooo · 21/06/2017 22:04

Hooray for a scan pic! Congratulations :)

I really loved the maternity clothes Debenhams sold last time in their Red Herring m.debenhams.com/women/red-herring-maternity section. Lovely work dresses and tops. Really flattering.

Best maternity jeans were new look for me. I found others really restrictive.

Top shop for maternity leggings.

New look and H&M both have maternity sections which don't break the bank. I love asos too for finding maternity brands.

choochooo · 21/06/2017 22:05

Yes that boob or bust group is great. And I totally agree. M&S measured me at an E but with Bravissimo I was a FF and sooo much more comfortable

EmilyK83 · 21/06/2017 22:09

Awww Em you must be so pleased with that scan pic!!

So annoying with bra sizes, different shops and different styles = different sizes for me, I hate bra shopping!!

Humpertydumpty · 21/06/2017 22:40

Not good news for me. Just had several hours of severe cramping with red blood. I've been spotting since Saturday but this is another level. Pretty resigned now but will take a test in a few days as clinic will tell me to keep injecting projesterone regardless.

choochooo · 21/06/2017 23:11

Humperty I'm so sorry Flowers sending lots of love.
