Hello! Just got my bfp, would love to join up with others expecting next Feb.

My DD is 16 months, so we're expecting (almost exactly!) a 2yr age gap all being well. EDD 2nd Feb.

Ginger I'm in north London - the form was on the hospital's maternity department website. They take referrals online, by phone or through a GP. Worst case scenario here I have a GP appointment booked for next week.

Blissfulignorance · 16/06/2017 11:03

Ginger I phoned my gp surgery and asked if I needed to see the gp or if I could self refer, the policy at my surgery is to see the gp who would then refer me.
I got a letter from my midwife about 10 days later with my booking in appt. (after having a pointless consultation with a gp)

RainyDayBear · 16/06/2017 11:14

Took about a week from self referring to have an appointment through, its not until the start of July though. Ginger if you look on your local maternity services website it should say if you can refer yourself.

I'm having a lot of period type cramping, trying not to worry as I know I had this on and off in the early weeks last time round and it's normal, but hard not to worry anyway! No nausea yet thank goodness, but my appetite is ridiculous and I'm so tired at the moment.

GingerRogers84 · 16/06/2017 11:27

Thanks guys! I found out I was pregnant just before I went on holiday so I haven't had a chance to book an appointment time t yet. I'll ring my local Surgery and see what they say. ☺️

@RainyDayBear how far along are you? I've been having mild period like cramping from the get go. I had no symptoms at all until I recently hit the six week mark. Then boom! Sickness, tired and sore boobs!
My friend only ever had bloating as a symptom in both her pregnancies!

RainyDayBear · 16/06/2017 11:49

6.5 weeks by last period (I think), but based on when I must have ovulated I reckon I'm only really 5+1. 6/7 weeks was around when I got morning sickness last time, which I reeeeeally want to avoid this time around! Yeah some people have nice easy pregnancies!

EmilyK83 · 16/06/2017 11:51

I honestly can't wait for proper sickness. I know that sounds weird, but with my first pregnancy, I just want a sign that things are still happening...

Troika · 16/06/2017 12:12

Babybutton I always get low BP when pregnant which results in dizziness and getting lightheaded. Doesn't help with the nausea either. Just make sure you sit as much as possible (standing in queues etc is a nightmare) and get up slowly!

TriJo · 16/06/2017 13:41

I had low BP last time too Troika - was the cause of me fainting on a Northern line tube when I was on my way to work one morning when I was around 14-15 weeks!

Supper16 · 16/06/2017 14:10

Yes Ginger just see if your care trust has a self referral form online, I just googled it.

Well I spoke to a briskly efficient lady on the phone who gave me my dates. My booking appt is 2.5 weeks away and my scan 4.5 so I think I'll be treating myself to a private early scan for reassurance - especially as I am going to Glastonbury next week (for work purposes, team aware, I'm fully risk-assessed).

TriJo · 16/06/2017 15:01

7 attempts to ring them today and no answer. Down with that sort of thing.

TriJo · 16/06/2017 15:07

Finally got through at the 8th time of asking - 12 week scan on the 4th of August and they'll send out a letter for booking appointment.

Toomanydogs · 16/06/2017 15:37

Not sure if I need to ring up to check I've been referred- before I had MC in March I saw GP at 4 weeks, had appt through in post at 5 weeks and was seen at 7, this time I didn't see my usual GP and it was at 5 weeks, I'm now 7 weeks and not heard anything yet!

TriJo · 16/06/2017 15:43

I'd check up if I was you. Sometimes you have to be a bit proactive - things get lost in the system, the post can be slow etc.

Mummyhen5 · 16/06/2017 16:42

Babybutton they could be testing your blood for anaemia as that can cause dizziness and low bp

Great list em
My EDD is 6th Feb, so far anyway.

Curious about the ladies who have a scan date already? I assumed you'd get that at the booking appt?

RainyDayBear · 16/06/2017 19:29

Good work on the stats Em thanks!

I told my boss today; he was asking why I wasn't applying for a promotion that he really wanted me to, and was worried I was unhappy or thinking of leaving. I have the worlds worst poker face so ended up telling him - the timetable for next year was forcing my hand anyway, plus I figure that if things go wrong (touch wood they don't) then I'll likely have time off and work will know anyway, plus I had hideous morning sickness last time and no way can I hide it if that happens again. Anyway he was really nice about it, so I'm glad I've been upfront now!

SofiePendragon · 16/06/2017 19:35

blissful I had to see my GP before booking a midwife appt and he requested my scan for me as by that point I was over 7 weeks by dates and he wanted me to have a scan at 12 weeks by dates.

Every area seems to have their own procedures though. I imagine if you're in an area where you see the midwife and 9-10 weeks and then get the scan booked, they must know they can get you in easily in the next week or two.

Troika · 16/06/2017 19:43

Oh well done em. I think my due date is the 14th but actually have no clue! I had a day of bleeding on 4/5. Then spotting the following day. Then nothing til 10/5 where I then had a 'normal' period. The previous few months followed the same pattern. I'm still breastfeeding so that may be affecting it.

EmilyK83 · 16/06/2017 20:05

emwithme you're amazing! (Also, I recognise you from the SW board...)

Blissful I was told that my booking in appointment in mid-July would "give plenty of time for my scan" - I think she said they're going to book it in after my booking in appt? I'm clueless, though...

pretzelpieces · 16/06/2017 20:09

babybutton I have been feeling this too - I had low BP last pregnancy and it does feel the same. Will see how my BP is at booking in unless it gets dramatically worse.

choo it took a long time for my lines to get darker, not sure what exact date though.

Well done em thanks for the list. I think my EDD might be 31st January though! I'm a fraud! (I calculated it wrong before I started this thread. Oops. I guess our dates will all change at 12wk scan anyway.)

trijo that's hopeless, fancy having to ring so many times. Bit jealous you have your scan date though!

A friend has suggested somewhere local I can get an early scan for £95 instead of £130 so I think I will book one for next week sometime when I'm 8wks+.

I took a nap with 1yo DD this afternoon, couldn't keep my eyes open! 😴

Blissfulignorance · 16/06/2017 20:37

After a bit of googling I found a place that would do an early scan for £45 about an hour away. Told DH and he said why waste the money when we get a free one in a few weeks. He's obviously not as anxious as I am. £45 though ....

UnglamorousMum · 16/06/2017 21:26

Self referred to midwives today. Suddenly have huge butterflies and daring to get a little excited. Absolutely zero symptoms so far, but that's not unexpected as I had none with DS either, and they never arrived. I felt absolutely no different, except a little tired.

From my experience last time, I'll get a letter through the post for booking in appointment when I'll be around 7 weeks ish and she'll give me my scan date there and then. I had a scan at around 8 weeks last time - this was arranged via my midwife as we had no clue of my dates. I came off the pill in October, had absolutely no bleeding and found out I was pg on Christmas Day so she sent me for a dating scan. Was very grateful at the time that I ended up inadvertently getting that reassurance from having a scan early, and I'd really like to do that again. I'll probably just take the plunge and book one (around £50 here) but not sure DH will agree as we are in the middle of buying a house.

Good job on the stats @em!

Princessk29 · 17/06/2017 00:22

Hi all joining the February party! I'm due 25/02.
Very anxious as had a chemical miscarriage less then two months ago!

If anyone is in the Essex area would love to make new friends

EmilyK83 · 17/06/2017 06:24

Hey Princess! Congrats, and keeping everything crossed for you! I'm from Essex originally (Chelmsford area) but moved west years ago...
