Hello! Just got my bfp, would love to join up with others expecting next Feb.

My DD is 16 months, so we're expecting (almost exactly!) a 2yr age gap all being well. EDD 2nd Feb.

blissful its crazy how slowly time seems to go, isn't it! I have only known for 4 days and it's literally been the longest 4 days of my life. It doesn't help that I've been obsessively peeing on a stick every morning to see if the lines are getting darker.

I have some friends coming to stay this weekend and one of them is bringing her 4 months old baby, so it will be fun to get some snuggles then. I know they all want to have a few drinks on Saturday so no idea how I'm going to get away with not drinking...they're definitely going to be suspicious!

Does anyone know how they deal with long/irregular cycles when you book your first midwives appointment? Will they take my word as to when I ovulated and base my EDD on that?

Alicantine · 13/06/2017 22:04

@VocalCat how are you getting on? Has the bleeding stopped?

@lulusforest welcome :) with a lmp of 1st April your cycles are proper long! I think she'll go with your estimate but they will adapt afrer your first scan anyway

Lool at the husband who said to everyone! You can't blame him though it's the excitement! Is it your first child?

Ok so I went for my gp's appointment today. Indeed it was very short. She congratulated me, referred me to the hospital I wanted (they don't seem to have midwives attached to my centre), asked if I was taking my folic acid, and that was it really. I explained that my most recent two pregnancies ended up in miscarriages and whether I'd be referred to an epu due to that she said not really. She said we don't have a policy whereby after x miscarriages you go directly for an early scan. She said it would be symptom dependent only. So of I bleed or have cramps or anything then yes otherwise no.
So I guess I just need to wait. I agree with you Emma it's odd how different the processes can be! Can't believe you already got a phone call from the midwife! So lucky!

Hope everyone else is ok:)

RainyDayBear · 13/06/2017 22:05

Thanks all, feeling a bit better now, have been drinking a lot of water and that hideous toe-curling feeling when weeing has eased a bit, so that's good news. Hoping I've caught it early enough to minimise any risks.

I really don't like the early worrying stages where everything is just terrifying. Although I remember thinking last time that when I could feel the baby's movements I'd feel more secure. In reality it just gave me something else to worry over!

Loxy4527 · 13/06/2017 22:19

Bliss aw this is cool, I didn't expect to see anyone I recognised here :) Congratulations to you xxx

Vocal feeling for you right now Flowers

My symptoms so far are super achy boobs (I think I need to find more comfortable bras stat, gonna be tricky as I already struggle to find my size) bloated and lots of wind Blush Doesn't help that I'm vegetarian so beans and lentils are a large part of my diet for the protein.

On the bra front - can any ladies who've been pregnant before offer any advice? I'm normally a 32 E and usually wear underwired bras but that's not comfortable any more. I have a couple of non-wired bras but I don't like how they get all rumpled up under my boobs after a few hours. Should I be looking at sports bras or nursing bras? Maybe a vest might be comfier, not that bothered about looking perky.

SofiePendragon · 13/06/2017 22:27

lulu Congratulations! I'm not sure when I ovulated but my lmp was 11th April. I'm fairly certain I ovulated late as i didn't get my bfp until CD47. I've seen my GP who said to book with the midwife asap and he arranged the scan for me at 12 weeks post lmp. I think that'll be a little early, but if it is they'll just tell me to come back a week or two later.

Sanchezwasntdirty · 13/06/2017 23:10

Alicantine it is both of ours first yes... he's very excited! I said you don't normally tell people till 12 weeks apparently his DM said the same to him... then he started to get upset thinking he'd dropped a massive bollock 😂 I'm not massively superstitious so I'm not to bothered I just don't want it all over social media as there people in my family I haven't told yet

TriJo · 13/06/2017 23:37

Loxy I had a proper Bravissimo fit at 9 weeks with my son, got a Panache Andorra (stretch lace) and then just bought bigger as I needed to. I was a 30FF at the start, 32GG at 9 weeks and 32J at 38 weeks when I had a nursing bra fit.

I'm actually scared of what my boobs will do this time - I'm still breastfeeding and starting at a 32H!

Toomanydogs · 14/06/2017 07:10

I hate bras at the best of times, tried loads of brands and styles but they all make me uncomfortable and make my upper back hurt, sadly in summer can't get away with being 'free range' as I'm a 34E usually and summer tops are not forgiving lol. Might have to have another search to find something that I can wear happily!

GingerRogers84 · 14/06/2017 08:54

Earlier in the thread I was saying I have had no symptoms. Well that has changed. I'm soooooo tired! 😴 I'm also feeling queasy on and off.

conkerchops · 14/06/2017 08:59

I think this might be all over for us - I woke up this morning with brown and light pink on wiping (sorry for the tmi) third loss in a row 😢- don't know whether to call EPU or just let nature take its course? At least it's started naturally and is not going to be another missed one requiring surgery as I don't think I could go through that again :-( just wish I knew why after two children this keeps happening to us :-(

Blissfulignorance · 14/06/2017 09:09

So sorry conker I'd absolutely give the epu a ring, it might be nothing? 🤞🏻

Feel better soon ginger

If any of you ladies live in London or know anyone who may have been affected by last nights fire, my heart goes out to you. Stay safe.

GingerRogers84 · 14/06/2017 09:18

Sorry @conkerchops, maybe see a doctor as it might still be ok! X

lookatthemoon · 14/06/2017 09:45

Conker - am thinking of you. I really hope it is just some spotting. I would call EPU and take it easy on your feet. Fx for you xx

TriJo · 14/06/2017 09:50

I'd call EPU conker - it could just be a SCH or similar.

RainyDayBear · 14/06/2017 10:18

Oh Conker hope it's all okay, definitely ring the EPU and see if you can get a scan.

Troika · 14/06/2017 10:33

Hi everyone can I join? I may struggle to keep up with the thread a bit but will only my best.

Got my bfp on Sunday, we were going to start trying in July or August Grin

This is dc4 for me. I'm not sure of dates as periods have been a bit odd but I think this one was conceived the same day as dc3 was so they may share a birthday!

I'm already feeling very sick. Dc3 is ill so was up most of the night with her and was trying desperately not to puke on her Blush. Have had hyperemesis once and bad sickness twice so not feeling hopeful that I'm going to sail through this one.

Troika · 14/06/2017 10:35

Fingers crossed for you conker and anyone else having problems Flowers

choochooo · 14/06/2017 12:42

Can I join very tentatively?

Just got bfp on Monday. I've had 3 mcs this year, 1 a mmc at 10 weeks, so I'm very nervous! I have DS (23 months).

I recognise loads of names here :) hi pretzel, Trijo and sofie congratulations to you guys and to all the rest of you.

EDD 23 Feb I think but who knows as my cycles have been nuts with all the mad hormones.

I'm feeling ok - sick which is great sign and I'm hoping this one sticks.

limomo82 · 14/06/2017 12:54

How are you doing @conkerchops

conkerchops · 14/06/2017 12:57

Thanks for the messages - I've spoken to the EPU and they have said may well just be early pregnancy spotting and to rest and drink lots and keep and eye on it and if still just spotting in a few days come for scan then when I'm closer to 7 weeks !
Dh has come home from work as the EPU nurse told him I shouldn't be on my own - so I'm not on my own - just feeling v scared and worried :-(

choochooo · 14/06/2017 13:02

@conkerchops sending you a hand hold and hoping that the bleeding is just spotting. Sending a hug

conkerchops · 14/06/2017 13:30

Thank you xxxx

LulusForest · 14/06/2017 13:32

Thanks alicantine and sofie, I'll give the midwives a call early next week and see what hey say. If they went by LMP I would already be due for my 12 week scan next week, which definitely isn't right Hmm

Finger crossed for you conker

Welcome and congratulations to the other newbies!

EmilyK83 · 14/06/2017 15:02

Big hand hold conker Flowers

5 weeks today for me, and I'm obsessively knicker checking as I seem to have more discharge than usual...is this normal?!

TriJo · 14/06/2017 15:23

Absolutely normal Emily - one of the more "charming" side effects!
