Hello! Just got my bfp, would love to join up with others expecting next Feb.

My DD is 16 months, so we're expecting (almost exactly!) a 2yr age gap all being well. EDD 2nd Feb.

Thank you blissful and Melody.

That sounds awful Melody and I would suggest speaking to your doctor if your sickness starts to become really debilitating as it could be HG and need mediction.

Toomanydogs · 12/06/2017 15:38

Melody I've been sitting with a sick bowl all day just waiting- feel like I'm going to be sick any second but not actually been sick yet! Can hardly eat anything and I am being a raging hormone monster to anyone who even mildly irritates me so I feel bad for DP at the moment!

RainyDayBear · 12/06/2017 16:14

Oh Melody that is rubbish. Have you told work yet? I know you might want to keep it quiet, but if they know they can't hold pregnancy related absence against you.

Just had to pick up a prescription and discovered that even though I don't have my exemption card yet (I think they do the paperwork at booking in), if you tell the chemist they do a special receipt so you can reclaim it when you get your card through. Worth knowing!

DoTheFandango · 12/06/2017 16:14

Hi ladies,

I've been lurking for a while, found out on 27th May that I was expecting! Very surprised as DH and I had been planning to start trying in June (but got carried away one evening in May!)
Found out using an early detection clear blue test so 4 days before my period was due!
Now 5 weeks 6 days pregnant. Have had some mild cramping on and off, feel tired and my boobs have got noticeably bigger and sore. Haven't rung the GP to get a midwife appt or anything yet, I am scared of tempting fate. Have told my parents but only because we saw them the day after we found out and there was no plausible way of me explaining not drinking to them! Don't want to tell anyone else (apart from DH's parents this weekend) that I am expecting until we make it to the 12 weeks mark. I am terrified that this will go wrong, my friend had a miscarriage at 6 weeks. I feel like the longer I keep it secret the 'safer' it will be! So glad we have this thread so I don't feel quite so alone in these early weeks!

Melody85 · 12/06/2017 16:24

Blissful I think about 6wks 6days

Thanks vocal, if it carries on I'll go to the doctors, really hope it will ease off though!

Rainyday I haven't told them yet as feels too early and my boss isn't the most understanding! I'm starting to think I might have to tell him sooner rather than later though 😏 I have an early scan tomorrow so if everything is ok and this sickness carries on I'll tell him - probably not the wisest choice but I'm not sure on the alternative!

Toomany I feel for you! It's so horrible. Just got some ginger nut biscuits and so far so good 🤞 I'm struggling with anything else!

PumbletonWakeshaft · 12/06/2017 16:42

Cheese! Can't stop eating cheese. Yummy slices of cheddar on cream crackers Grin om nom nom.....

conkerchops · 12/06/2017 18:18

Hugs @vocal and @melody - has there been any more spotting vocal?
Hand holding with you xx
Melody I would defo go to dr if the sickness doesn't improve as they can give you stuff - I had cyclizine with ds !
I am absolutely exhausted and grumpy! Was really snappy at the parent of a patient today and feel awful for it now!!!!
I need to do a 5.6k training run this eve according to my 10k programme and am really having to psyc myself up for it!!! The other issue is I usually get 2k in and desperately need a wee!!!!!! - we got our date for 12 week scan through today - 24th July! Which seems both v soon and v far away at the same time! I need to decide what we do about the early scans the EPU have offered before then too!
Re the hiding the not drinking - thanks for the great suggestions - think am going to go with antibiotic one - and brazenly stare them out - is a girls night and right round corner from my house so can't use dh or driving to help me!!!!
Also those of you who already have children - when might you tell them ? Mine are 8 and 9 and will start to guess as I am v v tired and dh is letting me rest loads!!!!!

Loxy4527 · 12/06/2017 19:00

Hello everybody! I'm at 5 weeks today, current EDD is feb 12th

I'm a bit apprehensive, this is the fourth cycle I've gotten pregnant in a row but the only one that's made it this far. Tests are still looking good and I plucked up the courage to fill out a midwife referral form today. I'm thinking this might be the one. Super excited and super scared.

Also - Bliss is that you!? From First time TTC thread 6?

BabyButton2 · 12/06/2017 19:19

@Alicantine snap DD!
HG is where you suffer with extreme sickness, nausea etc. For it meant I was bed bound in in hospital a lot throughout my whole pregnancy.

@Melody85 sorry to hear you are already really sick. I was bed bound at about 5 weeks with similar symptoms last time. If you can get to the doctors they can give you a wide range of anti sickness tablets. It's a good starting point. I hope it doesn't last too long.

@lookatthemoon thanks for the drinking top tips. Was having similar thoughts this evening about what to say...we haven't told anyone at all this time and home to keep it that way until after 12 week scan. We have a couple of end of term staff nights out soon and I worry my team start questioning when I'm not drinking. Confused

X

VocalCat · 12/06/2017 19:28

Thank you conker. It's appreciated. No more spotting and still no cramps, so hopefully all is ok. I'm exhausted as well and no way I could contemplate running! Hope you manage it.

Still no date for my scan but I think the midwife refers me after my booking in appointment, which is a fortnight away. Fingers crossed I get that far.

Emwahs · 12/06/2017 19:40

@vocal glad there has been no more spotting fingers crossed it all carries on!

I have only been sick once so far but plenty of times feeling sick! Today my stomach is like a washing machine. Never had any issues like this before so wondering if it's the pregnancy causing it. It's very loud as well which is kinda embarrasing. Hope it stops soon! I am getting slightly better at knicker watch but don't think it's going to stop conpletely any time soon!

Alicantine · 12/06/2017 19:41

@VocalCat I'm glad to see the spotting has stopped. Hopefully you'll make it to midwife's appointment and beyond!

@Babybutton2 of course hyperemesis gravidarum, sorry I didn't recognise it. Oh dear. I thought that it was meant to be recurrent in women who have that though? Hope I understood wrong!

@Loxy4527 welcome :) and @DotheFanDango welcome too . I agree with keeping the secret as long as possible until the 12wks mark! and yes thanks for the thread :)

@conkerchops mine are 14, 12, 8, 7 and 6 I don't intend to tell them any time soon. They will be totally excited and over the moon but then they won't be able to keep it quiet so they'll have to wait until I say to everyone I'm afraid. Plus until now I have no symptom I might change my mind if I vomit every morning!

@PumbletonWakeshaft I love eating that too at the moment but then again I love that even when not pregnant!

@Melody85 hope you'll feel better soon same for @RainyDayBear!

conkerchops · 12/06/2017 19:57

Managed 6k in the end and do feel pretty awesome now!!! Running keeps me sane!

@alicante I would like to
Keep it that way with my two till 12 week scan too as they will be excited and bound to tell someone!!!!

@vocal v glad that spotting has eased off - will keep everything crossed it stays that way!

BabyButton2 · 12/06/2017 20:47

@Alicantine my doctor told me that it's 90% chance that I will get HG just as bad this time but she said that some women are lucky and don't get it as bad in their second pregnancy. Fingers crossed.

@conkerchops I am impressed with your running. My hockey season has just finished so I must get out running too...I'm in that 'I'm pregnant and tired' mode...

Anyone else a bit anxious about telling work? I'm a teacher and my head did not take it well last time as it was bad timing staffing wise at school. Hoping this time will be better...

BabyButton2 · 12/06/2017 20:49

Also, what happens at the booking in doctors appointment please? I can't remember x

Alicantine · 12/06/2017 20:55

@Babybutton2 yes I hope you're among the lucky ones! Will tell you tomorrow about the doctor's appointment as I'm going tomorrow afternoon. I too can't remember. Especially for the test I can't remember if they'll need me to perform a pregnancy test in the surgery as well for their records? Or will they just take my word for it?

I'm a teacher too I intend to say in September only. I intend to work till the last minute and prepare my gcse students well in advance. So cover won't have as much to do. That's if all goes well..... When did you want to tell your head?

llamabeans · 12/06/2017 21:04

@Sanchez I am the same! Even though I have been wanting babies for ages, now it is happening I am just so worried! DH is really excited though which is nice.

Not sure when to start telling people? I am seeing my parents this weekend (I'll be 7 wks on Saturday) but it still feels a bit soon/not real yet. But I also don't want to have to drive 150 miles in a few weeks just to tell them then. Guess I have a few days left to decide!

conkerchops · 12/06/2017 21:04

My booking in consisted of filling in the 'pink book' which has loads of questions about your medical history and dh's and previous pregnancies and deliveries - then she faxed off for my 12 week scan and my consultant care! Took an
Hour ! They didn't
Do another pregnancy test!
She was v supportive about previous miscarriages !

PumbletonWakeshaft · 12/06/2017 21:13

@alicante I always have time for cheese too but this time I HAVE to have it! Also rich tea biscuits which I haven't had for years. ..

@conker that bloody pink file. It was glued to me the whole time during my last pregnancy after it was drummed into me to always have it just in case something dire should happen...

conkerchops · 12/06/2017 21:16

@pumbleton - I have hidden mine in the lounge cupboard - don't want anyone popping over and accidentally seeing it and finding out!

BabyButton2 · 12/06/2017 21:38

@Alicantine yes let me know how it goes - good luck! Mine is on Thursday.

Good idea about not mentioning it until September. I'm really not sure when to tell my head. Typical...this year I have her daughter in my class. I think I'll tell her in the summer holidays but If I get sick then it will be sooner. They say you show much quicker with number 2 as well...hopefully not too soon. X

Blissfulignorance · 12/06/2017 21:43

Yes it's me loxy welcome to the new thread. So pleased to read on the other that it's all going well. I have my fingers crossed for you.

Vocal I'm so pleased things have settled.

I'm shattered and nauseated 🤢

RainyDayBear · 12/06/2017 21:59

I'm a teacher too, and just started a new job at Christmas. Am absolutely dreading telling them, planning on holding off until September if I can. I know my boss will be fine about it, but it just feels far too soon in a new job, and I think it will get a few raised eyebrows. I really like it there too so don't want to piss anyone off! We were originally planning to TTC this Autumn and go for a summer holiday baby.

VocalCat · 12/06/2017 22:19

Spotting is back. I hate pregnancy and all its worries!

Hope everyone else is doing better than me at the moment.

lookatthemoon · 12/06/2017 22:26

Oh Vocal - must be so worrying for you. Hand-hold. Hopefully it is just some old blood and will be gone soon. x
