Hello! Just got my bfp, would love to join up with others expecting next Feb.

My DD is 16 months, so we're expecting (almost exactly!) a 2yr age gap all being well. EDD 2nd Feb.

Thank you SofiePendragon I think having an early scan will reassure me. I may plan it so that I have it the day before my parents come over. I guess then we'll definitely know it's real before we tell them! RainyDayBear thank you for those stats, reassuring!

VocalCat · 07/06/2017 21:30

I think lots of women opt for early scans Tail and they are considered safe. Nuchal measurements are only between certain dates but you can get a blood test (usually privately) if necessary that gives you much more realistic odds. A few hospitals offer it on the NHS.

Thira · 07/06/2017 21:35

Am I too late to join in? I think I'm 6Wks EDD 2nd feb. I have a 2yo already and have had a few losses so I'm feeling cautious

pretzelpieces · 07/06/2017 22:07

scottish very envious of your breastfed baby that actually sleeps!

All you lot saying you're 'not really a runner' but you run a few times a week - you are runners! Well done for getting out there, I have zero motivation these days.

That's sweet mrsfrank I'm glad your df had a nice reaction and I'm sure dm will be chuffed to bits in time.

Welcome and congrats to all the bfps.

6 weeks today. I'm feeling sick and tired. Sort of reassuring! But also bleurggh.

rainyday I'm due almost on my DD's 2nd birthday too!

thira welcome, definitely not too late to join in, I'm sure we'll have lots more joining us still.

tailspin I'm not seeing the midwife until I'm 9 weeks, 8 to 10 weeks is standard here. Debating whether to have an early scan, they are very expensive here (over £100).

I had an early scan with DS because I wasn't sure of dates and I'll have one again this time. Because of hubby's work he specifically wants it the first week in July when I'll be around 8 weeks.

lookatthemoon · 08/06/2017 01:22

Tailspin - I came across this article yesterday about the rise of private scans. It does mention 'a small unconfirmed risk' if you have multiple scans. But I think that would mean 'lots' of needless scans.

Re Symptoms: Has anyone noticed their skin being more sensitive? I seem to have a lot of redness when I wash my face (no new products).

Also, part of me wonders whether some of my 'sickness' is actually a bit of a sick feeling from feeling nervous about something bad happening.

tailspin · 08/06/2017 06:14

lookatthemoon I feel like the skin on my body is sensitive and very dry. My face is always red so I wouldn't notice!

Wondering about the private scan, my partner is worrying a bit because he feels like if the outcome is negative, then what? Around us they're all a bit... Not medical seeming. Called 'lollipop' etc and doing things like a 'care bear' package where you get a keychain... Maybe good for 4D scans but doesn't seem very medical, if it was a negative scan are they trained in how to support & refer us? I don't get that impression...

Tigger83 · 08/06/2017 06:40

Sadly guys I'm out, I did a test this morning and not pregnant anymore so chemical pregnancy unfortunately. Now just got to wait for af

TriJo · 08/06/2017 06:43

So sorry to hear that Tigger Flowers

lookatthemoon · 08/06/2017 06:44

Hmmm Tailspin I get what you mean. And it can be harder to see things this early, especially if it is not a sonographer doing it. Can your GP/midwife suggest somewhere?

My doctor has a small machine so that is how I will have my 'early' scan. So it won't be very detailed but I just want to see a heartbeat.

With DS I don't think I had any sort of scan until about 10 weeks. I'm just more nervous now.

Sanchezwasntdirty · 08/06/2017 06:44

Oh Tigger that's awful, hope you're ok x

tailspin · 08/06/2017 07:02

Sorry Tigger ❤️

Blissfulignorance · 08/06/2017 07:15

So sorry tigger 💐💐

conkerchops · 08/06/2017 08:33

So sorry @tigger Flowers

I am still v v undecided about early scans - we will defo be offered them through EPU due to the two MMC - but I want to hold out as long as possible - in both case she we saw a heart beat and then baby stopped developing at 8 weeks - so feel like if we're lucky enough I'd like to wait till 9 weeks if possible?
We are having our booking in with the midwife this am so will see what she has to say.
Am also stressing about what tests to have - knowing that the second MMC was due to trisomy I am now far
More apprehensive about these and terrified they would show us something else! And am 38 so know we will be encouraged to have them!
We still haven't told anyone apart from my nursing friends I had to tell on camp! Not sure when to as I really believe in talking about pregnancy before 12 weeks and about miscarriage - but feel v v apprehensive after the miscarriages. I am still everyday thinking about it going wrong :-(

Rockaby · 08/06/2017 08:51

Also, I think our posts may have crossed this morning - I didn't see yours before my reply to Tailspin. Hope you didn't think I was being horribly insensitive. xx

Just to let you know midwife appt went v well! It was another lady - not the one who rang me after miscarriage thank goodness! She thinks my due date is 10th Feb! She was so so understanding about my anxiety following the miscarriages and has referred me to EPU to discuss early scans with them - no pressure to have them at all which I really liked! Feel v relieved at mo and like first big hurdle I really wasn't looking forward to has been surmounted!
Hope everyone is ok today?
Any others with heart burn - what are you taking for it?

RainyDayBear · 08/06/2017 14:28

So sorry Tigger that's rubbish news Flowers

TriJo · 08/06/2017 14:52

Rang up for a GP appointment - earliest I could get in is June 23! At least a 4pm Friday one means a sneaky early start to the weekend...
