Hello! Just got my bfp, would love to join up with others expecting next Feb.

My DD is 16 months, so we're expecting (almost exactly!) a 2yr age gap all being well. EDD 2nd Feb.

I'm similar Sanchez - I had a salad for lunch yesterday (which was nice enough) but I woke up thinking about it this morning and the thought of the exact same salad has made me nauseous all day today. How random!! Why am I even thinking about yesterday's salad?!

I made all my appointments for 12 week scan etc today but that has made me a bit terrified that now I've made it real it will all be so much sadder if something goes wrong.

isambardo · 07/06/2017 10:51

Hi all, I'm tentatively joining after an early loss last month (at 5 weeks). Looks like I'm due 17th Feb!

I was a bit surprised to get a bfp this morning, my period isn't due until Sat and I've never had a positive ahead of being late. This will hopefully be dc3.

I'll read through the thread now, still a bit nervous and in shock!

Alicantine · 07/06/2017 11:03

Hi I would like to join you Easter Smile . I am due (according to last period dates) on 10th of Feb (nhs calculator) or 13th Feb (another popular calculator). My last period started on 5.5.2017 it's the first time I am getting different due dates Confused ? My cycle is usually 29 days.

It's so reassuring to read your comments and hear from people who are at the same stage as me! If the pregnancy goes well it would be my DC6. I have had 5 normal pregnancies with healthy children and vaginal deliveries without epidural for all of them until 4 years ago when I turned 34 and since then I have had two miscarriages. So in total this is my eighth pregnancy Biscuit .
Also trying to behave as if nothing is happening but it is hard. I have only done one test (boots own, good line) and I am not calling no midwife and no GP this time for now .
The truth is that all my testing and all my worries will not change anything to what's happening inside, as long as I take my folic acid regularly and eat well (ok but not too much!). If this pregnancy is not meant to go through it won't. (trying to be wise for this one!).

I believe it is still ok to ring the GP around 8 weeks to book for 12 weeks midwife appointment right? (I forgot a little bit and I am not sure anymore when they prefer for you to ring. Plus I can see that one of you is struggling to even get through to a GP about her pregnancy and I believe it is the same where I live... (West Midlands) so perhaps not so late as 8 weeks but deffo not calling anyone for another good 2-3 weeks!).

I hope all of you are well and keeping ok and I hope it's ok to join now!

A.

Lookatthemoon I've got my first midwife appointment Tuesday which I'm so nervous about.

I was not happy it was fish and chips from the chippy which I was very much enjoying until the wave of nausea hit me... not good as I shouted at DP 'get it away from me before I'm sick' he's not sure what's going on right now lol

lookatthemoon · 07/06/2017 11:40

Sanchez - a fish and chip aversion is tough luck 😂 Last pregnancy I seem to remember a couple of weeks when all I could eat was chips/doritos etc.

Welcome Isambardo and Alicantine - so many of us here have had previous losses and are struggling with the fear. At least for today we are all pregnant! Alicantine - seems perfectly reasonable to wait a while to see GP/midwife.

Firsttimeandclueless · 07/06/2017 11:40

Hey everyone and welcome to the newbies!

I've started to notice my boobs hurt a LOT! Like a strange achy pain. I don't ever get this for AF so have never had the sensation before. So weird.

Haven't got an real nausea yet, thankfully! Although I don't think I'll be lucky enough to escape it entirely. So I've decided to eat my entire fridge while I can 😂😂😂😂

Officially five weeks tomorrow! Going to call and make my first appointment on Monday, as they only do midwife appointments on Thursday and Friday where I am so by then I'll be six weeks. Still having tiny amounts of brown spotting but have decided I'm not going to worry about it at this stage and take every day as it comes.

Does anybody know if they'll do the basic genetic tests (not the later diagnostic ones) at the first appointment?

Firsttimeandclueless · 07/06/2017 11:41

*any

VocalCat · 07/06/2017 12:10

Hello and welcome everyone new.

First your booking in appointment is usually just filling in lots of paperwork about your medical history (and a couple of questions about your partner's), then blood pressure, urine test and a chat about what tests you want to have done during pregnancy.

Firsttimeandclueless · 07/06/2017 12:18

Thanks so much Vocal! That doesn't sound too bad. I was relying on Dr.Google and fearing all sorts of things being placed in my lady garden 😂😂😂😂

Somehow it is only just dawning on me that I am probably going to have people looking at me in that region and subsequently mortified 😂 Will have to grow a thick skin by Feb.

GingerRogers84 · 07/06/2017 12:27

Still not a single symptom! If it wasn't for the missed period and the 8 positive tests I would go a bit mad. In a way I'd rather a couple of symptoms for it to feel a bit more real. 😑

Nikkix25 · 07/06/2017 12:29

Heyy.
I'm due 5th Feb ❤ xx

Tortoise22 · 07/06/2017 13:37

@Sanchez I would be gutted if fish & chips makes me nauseous!! 😂 I've been getting nauseous mainly in the evenings, I think it must be related to being tired and hungry. That plus the anxiety of these early weeks all became a bit too much for me last night and I ended up having a bit of a blub over it all. So glad to have these posts to read! Hope you are all doing ok.

PumbletonWakeshaft · 07/06/2017 14:02

@ginger be careful what you wish for! Last time I had acute nausea, heartburn and horrific restless legs. So far this time it's just hunger, a little fatigue and a few twinges down below. Hoping it stays this way! Mind you, last time it didn't feel real until I felt flutters at 25 weeks...

isambardo · 07/06/2017 14:34

Oh man Pumbleton, I forgot about the night time restless legs! Feasting on bananas to get more potassium because apparently that would fix it :)

I have blanked out all the niggles from my previous pregnancies, I'm sure it will come flooding back soon!

MrsFrankTurner · 07/06/2017 15:59

Lying on the sofa I feel awful Confused exam first thing so up at 5am then was so excited everything was over I took my 3 DSs to the local national trust big park for a long walk and when we got home I had a thick brown discharge so had a lie down, fell asleep and now I just feel sick with a headache Envy my poor boys! We were so excited I didn't have to revise anymore now they have 'lying on the sofa' mummy Sad

PumbletonWakeshaft · 07/06/2017 16:08

@isambardo I recall doing squats at 3am every night to get rid of the jittery feeling! Also tried walking up and down the stairs, bananas, magnesium spray, bar of soap under the sheet... (don't ask - desperate times, desperate measures!) Hmm

TriJo · 07/06/2017 16:56

It was coffee and chocolate that made me nauseous the last time! Didn't have any of either from 8 to 15 weeks and that was a strange experience.

Sanchezwasntdirty · 07/06/2017 17:12

Tortoise it was not a fun experience!

Trijo life wouldn't be worth living Confused

RainyDayBear · 07/06/2017 17:42

I did another test this afternoon (I know, I know) and did worry that the line wasn't that much darker, but actually when I compare it to Monday's smudge and today's quite clear but light line I think it's fine! I am a serial POAS-er and still have a couple of internet cheapie and a FRER to go at some point over the next few weeks. Anyone else unable to step away from the tests?!

spacefem.com/pregnant/mc.php?m=05&d=05&y=16 - This link I checked daily last time in the first trimester; it shows how the odds of miscarriage decrease as time goes on. I find it quite reassuring!

SofiePendragon · 07/06/2017 18:59

Thanks for that link rainy. It's nice to see that risk going down as the days go on.

I had an aversion to chocolate and meat last time round. I wasn't really sick very much, but I was exhausted and could barely eat a thing. I lost weight in the first trimester. I wonder if it'll be different things this time round?

tailspin · 07/06/2017 19:42

Tortoise22 & lookatthemoon I'm 4 Feb too :)

Went to Doctor to refer to midwife - midwife won't see me until 10 weeks, ie. week of 3 July, and will only refer me then for a scan. Which would take another two weeks I suppose. Is that normal? Impatient...

SofiePendragon · 07/06/2017 19:52

tailspin that seems a bit odd, but if that's how they arrange things in your area, I guess they know they'll be able to get you in for your scan at relatively short notice. Doesn't seem to leave much room for error though - if you're a little further along than you think you could be too late for the nuchal thickness measurement.

tailspin · 07/06/2017 20:03

SofiePendragon I'm considering booking an early private scan to put my mind at rest. I think I shouldn't be further along than I think though, I have clear dates of my last period etc.

Online it says the Nuchal measurement is 10-14 weeks, is that right?

It does feel like a long time to wait. I really don't mind paying for an early scan. Does anyone know if there are any risks attached to an early scan? Or advice against it I mean? (like, 7 weeks?)

Blissfulignorance · 07/06/2017 20:19

Thanks for that rainy I actually found this very reassuring!

Tailspin my go is referring me to the midwife too, I'm yet to hear anything.

SofiePendragon · 07/06/2017 20:31

Tail I don't think there is any advice against an early scan and I think it's standards some countries. If you have lots of scans during the pregnancy the baby is more likely to be left handed, so the sound waves might have some small effect on the developing baby but lots of people have multiple scans in the the early stages and their babies are fine.
