Yet another new thread, because just like all the remaining posters the old one is about to go pop.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
kittywaitsfornumber6 · 20/03/2007 14:15

When dd3was born last year at home it was just before xmas so I had a huge tin of roses in the bedroom. No shortage of energy giving sweeties there. I wish they did those tins all year round!!

Chocolatepenny · 20/03/2007 14:24

Yes it very but I am going to find out and report back later.

Mossie · 20/03/2007 15:43

Chocpenny I asked my mw to adjust my date a while back and she said no. I was really at the time, it will be very annoying if he does arrive in April.

Lins1uk good luck at the mw.

Morocco my wrists still hurt not as badly as lat night, mil took me to the Asda and then gave my arms a rub when we got back to try to get rid of fluid, something I read on a web site, not sure if it's done anything though but nice ofher to offer!

Piffle.... enjoy your nap, I hope you wake up from it much closer to having your lo!!

Yogimum that is what I think to myself when I wake up in the middle ofthe night, that it's prerparing my body for lack of sleep!

Right off to unpack the shopping and maybe have a lie down bit nrvous in case I get that pain again though!!

Piffle · 20/03/2007 15:48

mossie try to keep wrists raised ona pillow and take paracetamol if it keeps you awake (if unlike anyone else in late pregnancy you can actually sleep anyway )

I've napped got 1hr before heartburn kicked in

Sleet blizzard here atm, very pretty but darned chilly

I'm also coming down with sore throat and a cold, having nursed the two kids through it over the last 3 weeks... Been sneezing for England which has been deeply uncomfy esp when I'm having a contraction.

I want to be happy again!!!!!!!!!!

Mossie · 20/03/2007 16:37

Oh Piffle you're having such a crappy time poor thing! I wish I was a bit more psychic so I could send some birth vibes your way but I'm too much of a haggard old cynic!

Will try the tip about the paracetamol / pillow, I don't sleep much anyway but am nervous even to try after lastnight, I must sound likc such a wuss!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 20/03/2007 17:12

Piffle, I've a magic few words VICKS FIRST DEFENSE nasal spray. it works I promise you, even if the cold has started it stops it developing. I've managed to keep the last one and the new one at bay using the stuff. There is no way I wanted to labour feeling crappy and then lie all snotted up with a newborn, giving them nasty bugs too. (actually all my newborns have had horrible colds )

TheBlonde · 20/03/2007 17:39

Hi all

Back from MW appt. All fine. She offered me a sweep and I declined. Got booked in for induction but until 42 wks.

Might go for a long walk tomorrow if the weather improves

CallieNewMum · 20/03/2007 18:12

Piffle, much sympathy for the on-off labour and the cold - poor you. See, that's one thing you miss having the baby two months early with no warning!!!! Hope the labour starts properly soon.

Mossy, my friend came down with carpal tunnel syndrome and I think she needed to have a wrist support because of it, although she was still in work (it was at about 31/2 weeks I think) and had lots of reports to write on computer. But you could ask your MW or GP about it perhaps.

Chocpenny, I;m pretty certain you can't get the extra allowance if the baby is born in April if your agreed EDD has been March, which is a real bummer for you end of March ladies. Conversely, the people who have April EDDs can get it even if they have the baby early - but I guess it's more difficult to take something off people once they've been promised it and the govt/workplace may be on dodgy legal grounds if they try. So sorry about that.

at all your DP/Hs being so blase about going out on or near EDDs. Methinks a quick slug around the ear (metaphorical of course )is called for...

CallieNewMum · 20/03/2007 18:23

Have updated arrivals thread in post-natal but I can'tmake a link to it work atm.

eidsvold · 20/03/2007 21:36

ohhh piffle - sorry to hear about your off and on again contractions. I did have images of you on our dora the explorer space hopper!!

Well my sweets for scoffing whilst bored in hospital for 5 days have taken a beating and no it was not dh.

I am just soooo grumpy at the moment and totally had enough. Only 2 days to go for me though - so at least the end is in sight. Kindy committee meeting tonight - pre op appt thursday ( tomorrow) speech therapy and swimming with the dds today. Then friday - yeh!

still half asleep - will need to come back and read messages when I am awake.

lins1uk · 20/03/2007 22:45

seen my midwife today didnt offer me a sweep,
got an hospital app next wed they might give me a sweep but if they dont midwife says she will they will book my induction as well if i havent had him by then!! so will keep you posted
lins xx

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 21/03/2007 07:11

Morning to those of us left
It's my due date today, but I'm having NO twinges whatsoever, no bh's, no contractions. I rather hoped that there would be a little bit of SOMETHING by now.
I find these last 2-3 weeks really quite hard, the waiting and waiting.
I would get a little bit excited if I had any sort of contraction like pain. Think I might start a thread later to see if this is normal.
Sorry for the moan.

Chocolatepenny · 21/03/2007 08:49

Yes its a no to MA for March Babies born in April,..not going to think about that anymore as its so annoying!
Kitty and Lins it my EDD tomorrow and do I feel any twinges?....no, I think he's staying put
DH offered the old sex remedy this morning but since my back was hurting from another night supporting the heavy bump I sent him packing.
My Bump is now all hard boney baby contained in my last pair of fitting jeans, how much longer!

Mossie · 21/03/2007 09:28

Morning ladies-in-waiting!

Kitty sorry you haven't felt anything, I guess you know your lo is likely to be late from your previous pregnancies at least so you can prepare yourself for it mentally. Still a bummer though.

Chocpenny & Lins guess you are in the same boat as Kitty really. I still have a week until my edd. Doesn't stop me wishing he'd arrive now!

I do feel totally ready, I feel like I'm just marking time now sitting at home taking up a whole day doing next to nothing each day. I'm going to fill in as much of the tax credit / child benefit forms as I can today and then finish them off when lo is born. Need to look into getting a will made, not that we've much to leave! But it's ensuring that mil & sil would get care of Bertie if anything happened to both dh and I, rather than anyone else.

Wrists are still sore although not quite as bad, Piffle I slept with them on a pillow and took two paracetamol just before I went to bed. As you say though, I don't get much sleep anyway, but at least I didn't wake up because of the wrists.

Off to walk the dogs, did anyone watch the Underdog Show last night? I was pmsl at some of the dogs, so funny!

Jaysecond · 21/03/2007 09:50

hi everyone, sorry not to have posted but things have been hectic, obviously with the new addition, but also with my Grandad, who had another hypo (hes diabetic and has cancer in the lymph, we found ou), and also the day after i gave birth my Mum was in a car accident, she rolled the car and blacked out. She was told by the fire brigade and police, that she was lucky to be alive, thankfully shes in one piece but has suffered internal bruising and shes has stiches to the head. Shes very shellshocked as you can imagine anyway wanted to wish all thos who are still hanging on, all the very best, i really truely hope that it happens sooner rather than later for you, i hated being 9 days over, but when you have your new baby all the pains and anguish will fade away!

Have posted on birth announcments with a more indepth story, and i am hoping to join in the antenatel thread real soon. Lots of love to everyone xxxx

Piffle · 21/03/2007 10:34

jays what a stressful time you've had to deal with.
Hope your mum is ok, that your grandad is being made comfortable and that you are healing ok too.

Mossie glad that the wrists were ok overnight, it bloody hurts and it's just one more thing to interrupt your precious rest.

I've had the night from hell
Massive painful contractions on and off all night long, some 5 mins apart, some 30 mins, some 15... and so on.
Not able to be slept through nor even lain down through so I've been up and down all night long

Am getting fairly hacked off, really did think last night that was it...

Anyway dp working from home today so rest beckons....
Labour vibes to all as per usual
Eids cos you're in Oz your Friday is earlier than ours so it'll be our Thursday night maybe?

Good luck for it and lucky you to have the end in sight so securely!

eidsvold · 21/03/2007 12:06

yup - I am 10 hours ahead I think - it is now 10.05pm here.

So it will be your thurs night.

TheBlonde · 21/03/2007 13:19

Hi all
Think things are kicking off here
V painful contractions and I've thrown up
Childcare & DH have been summoned
Wish me luck!

foxcub · 21/03/2007 13:31

The Blonde - Good luck - ooh so exciting. May it be a speedy and smooth labour for you!!!

rosylonginglily · 21/03/2007 13:44

All the best blonde, may the force be with you!

Piffle I feel so sorry for you, I had shit all sleep for two nights before giving birth and there was a stage that I felt so weary and didn't know where I'd get the strength for the last bit. Of course the energy comes when you need it. I really hope it happens soon, you must be worn out.

Jay, thank goodness your mum was okay. I'm sorry to hear about your Grandad too.

Eidsvold, it's getting close how exciting!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 21/03/2007 14:04

Jay, so glad your mum is ok and sorry about your grandad

TheBlonde, fingers tightly crossed for you. Have a wonderful birth. HOpe it all goes really smoothly

Mossie · 21/03/2007 14:05

Jay I'm sorry to hear about your Grandad, and your Mum. What a stressful time for you all.

Piffle, can't believe you're still here you poor thing, there's not much I can say except platitudes of which I have no knowledge anyway. So {{{{hugs}}}}} instead.

Eids and The Blonde, not long now!

Spent the afternoon trying to get my head round child tax credit forms. Why do they ask for income from 05-06, over a year ago? I rang to find out, the first person said to fill it in for then, and then ring them with 06-07, and then with what I would earn in 07-08 (as I'll be on SMP), when I asked why didn't I just leave it until 6th April new tax year she said, "oh I don't know just do what the form says it's probably best," I wanted a second opinion so rang back half an hour later and the second person said, "I don't know, I've never seen one of those forms"!

So I've been hunting for dh's and my old p60s we really do need to start putting this stuff somewhere safe!

muppethasakitten · 21/03/2007 14:06

Blonde - best of luck to you! Really hope it goes as planned... keep us posted xx

Piffle... i keep telling you to hang on in there and that every sign is a positive... but you poor thing ... it's so frustrating for you. It WILL happen!! That baby can't stay in there forever... keep your chin up and maybe do some more gardening!!

Eids - if i don't post again b4 thurs eve - best of luck to you too... can't wait to hear all about the section and your dds reactions to their new sibling!!

Jay - so glad your mum is ok - what a week you've had so far... to hear about your grandad though.

Mossie · 21/03/2007 17:06

Just spent half the afternoon looking for old p60's finally managed to find 'em both.

We really need to be more efficient at filing things!

So much for an afternoon nap!

Will come back on tomorrow hopefully to some more birthy news!

LaidbackinEngland · 21/03/2007 17:33

Jay - hope things get better for you and your family !

Good luck theblonde... hope you have a swift and easy one.

I've just got back from acupuncture and the woman says she has almost 100% success rate for inducing labour in 2 sessions ... so will wait and see.

Mossie - the only way is to file things away as soon as you get them ... boring boring , but God , does it save time when you need to find something !
