Yet another new thread, because just like all the remaining posters the old one is about to go pop.

Mossie - from what I can gather the term + 10 days thing is cos it can take a couple of days to get labour going and get the baby out

Seeing MW this afternoon - don't fancy the mile walk but it might help get this LO moving I suppose

Tired after yet another bad night of toddler interrupted sleep. He ended up in our bed from midnight, I gave up fighting for space at 4am and went to his bed, then the little darling got up at 6am

Still it's all good training for being up all night with a newborn

TheBlonde · 20/03/2007 09:36

LunarSea - what is it with these DHs!? Mine has also said he is going out Thurs night

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 20/03/2007 09:36

Yesterday I mentioned to dp that I'd been having a few more bh's, which was hopeful as it meant things were shifting a bit. he then asked how long the others had taken to come since the start of the "bh things". I couldn't really answer him but when pushed I said "alright Clara was about 3 weeks". Don't think that was quite what he wanted to hear

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 20/03/2007 09:38

Oh yeah, my mum said I couldn't have the baby this Friday as she was doing a school concert .wtf. I told her then the concert would have to be cancelled, I thought she was joking when she said not. Yep got your priorities right there woman.

Mossie · 20/03/2007 09:43

Lunar what is it with these fellas?

Dh told me that after about 30 weeks he wouldn't ever drink any more than would put him over the limit, just in case (this wasn't my idea btw it was advice to him from one of his - male - friends).

Of course that didn't happen. Now with a week to go he's finally worked out that actually, he is going to need to drive me to the hosi at some point very soon; last night he said, "actually I'll not have a second beer just in case".

But going out on your edd?

The Blonde that makes sense I guess, so that if they induced at +10 lo would be born at 42 weeks.

Kitty what's your Mum like!

Right I really had better get these dogs walked and get myself washed.

Oh... 39 weeks today!
EDD 27/3
Boy (Bertie)

LaidbackinEngland · 20/03/2007 09:45

Mossie - my friend and her DH went to a wedding reception 50 miles away when she was 39 weeks. Needless to say she went into labour ...her DH was paralytic and she had to drive home having contractions every 5 minutes !!!

Piffle · 20/03/2007 10:11

Ha I'm here!
Still without birthing
7 hours of bloody beautiful contractions that hurt like hell. 15 mins 8 mins then 5 mins
then 1am started going back to every 30 mins, every 45, every 20 and so on through the night, coupled with the nastiest heartbrun I've suffered this preg
FGS it started at 3am????
So had sod all sleep, 20 mins here and there
Am thoroughly shattered, fed up and various other words which I'm too polite to mention here amongst such good decent folk

I have hospital ante natal clinic today, I am going to see what they say about my erm "progress"
They might give me a sweep out of sympathy

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 20/03/2007 10:15

Poor you Piffle. All this means it will be quick when it does finally happen

Piffle · 20/03/2007 10:17

Mossie your wrists sound like carpal tunnel syndrome very common in pregnancy, very annoying. Worth searching archives on here to get some tips as it can get really bad

I had an op for it as a young lass as it got so bad.

Late pregnancy really really SUCKS...

Piffle · 20/03/2007 10:19

Yes I know Kitty, both of my others were bloody quick and "easy" so guess this will be the same which is good at the time but the build up is ever so slightly tiresome
Am looking forward not to having to get into the car with 3 min contractions this time though staying at home is like a dream!

Mossie · 20/03/2007 10:53

Oh Piffle you poor thing it is taking ages isn't it? I hope like you said it's quick at the end.

Thanks for the tip re: Carpal Tunnel I had a look at some old threads and it does sound like that's what I have. Will ask the mw on Thursday. It's not so bad now but last night OW! I thought I'd broken something!

Dogs walked, house tidied... will ring mil again and if she's not coming over 'til later try to get some sleep!

madhide · 20/03/2007 11:05

Hi All

Have had a quick read through to see how you all are am really thinking of those of you still waiting it wont be long now!

Congratulations Jay you did so well 11lb 2oz with gas and air I am in awe! I had 2 lots of morphine and was a bit of a whimp I have to say!

Piccies are amazing you are so organised and he is a beautiful boy I would like to post some piccies but not really sure how can anyone help?

Oh and by the way there wont be any of me as I do not look as amazing as Jay after giving birth!

Mossie · 20/03/2007 11:30

Madhide if you click on "my mumsnet" at the top of the screen you can set up a profile, which includes being able to put photos up... looking forward!

muppethasakitten · 20/03/2007 11:31

Eids - you talking about packing sweeties in your labour bag reminded me of my extra large value pack of wine gums i packed with me... how lovely muppet you say, how many did you eat? Answer = bloody NONE... where did they go? I have a fairly good idea and it wasn't the mws

My advice is dont let these men take control of the snack bag... even when you are in the throes of labour - keep it clutched to your breast at all times!

Sorry you are feeling all uncomfy mossy... mother nature doesnt make it easy does she.

Piffle are you having a girl? becos at the risk of sounding really sexist - lo does keep changing its mind somewhat!

Well i'm off to bed... just got abs from gp for mastitis... oww... feel like i have flu... plus Samuel has conjunctivitis and cant even open his eyes... gaarrrggghhh

LunarSea · 20/03/2007 11:42

Funny experience last night. I've got to 39 weeks+ and my belly button still points inwards, but last night in the bath little one had obviously discovered it and seemed to be playing with it as it kept popping in and out and I could feel him pressing on it while he was doing it. Quite bizarre to watch.

Piffle · 20/03/2007 13:05

Well I'm nearly at nap time
THANK GOD!
Have dusted and done washing today, tidied up. Kept busy ish

Had some almighty cramps and BH's, so that's when I take a break (like now for instance)

Muppet I'm having a boy, lazy little beggars. DS was 2 wks late, dd was 2 wks early
The thought of another 2 weeks makes me want to vomit and cry and stamp my feet.

patience never was my strong point

Piffle · 20/03/2007 13:06

lunar - my bbwould usually have popped uot by now, but it's still in a bit I also noticed in the bath that at some angles the baby moved it would pop out.
Entertainment on a cold night

lins1uk · 20/03/2007 13:54

yogimum · 20/03/2007 14:00

I had reflexology and acupuncture to bring on my labour. My midwife also reccommended sex (last thing I wanted), curry (hot), housework (Yuck)

morocco · 20/03/2007 14:01

snap piffle - also had lots of annoying contractions for half of last night that have faded away - just in time for me not to get any sleep . sympathies!

did the acupuncture today and that was good, also had a couple of contractions during all that needle twiddling, but now wondering if she will ever be born aaargh

muppet about sweets - dh has just drunk all my lucozade - reckons he will get me some more but I will believe it when I see it!

how's the wrist mossie? hope it gets better soon - these last few weeks are a real pita

yogimum · 20/03/2007 14:05

They say its sopposed to prepare you for the sleepless nights

Chocolatepenny · 20/03/2007 14:06

Just been told at my swim class (by midwife) I should have got my MW to lie about my EDD for extra maternity allowance, they done it for loads of march mums.
Bum why didn't I think of that?
Now wondering if baby comes in April I can have MA readjusted anyone know about this?
Its a long shot can't image Government making that possible but they should as bump may well arrive in April!
Arghh I have been too honest!

kiwibella · 20/03/2007 14:10

congrats Jay, Madhide, and Dolly... brilliant news!! So glad to read your birth stories, even if I am not at all envious of your experience with your very big bubba Jay. Well done and take care everyone.

kiwibella · 20/03/2007 14:11

how annoying ChocolatePenny... I understood that it went on your due date. Hopefully I am wrong . It would certainly be a bonus in having an April baby .

morocco · 20/03/2007 14:14

hiya chocolatepenny -yes it is annoying! I think some mums have asked their mw and some said yes, some said no. I was going to but decided to be honest in case dd came early, now I wish I hadn't bothered . I did read somewhere that it might come to a court case in the end with mums whose babies were actually born after april 1st wanting the extra dosh but I don't know how likely that is to happen.
