The first MW appointment is a bunch of questions, a pee test and a blood test and they also tell you your care plan with appointments and scans etc. It's nice but the scan is what I want! I want to see the little kiwi and make sure he/she's doing ok!

Do any of you have an inkling already of what it might be? Boy or girl? I have a really strong feeling it might be a boy but my husband is praying for a little girl hahaha!

@iamchanging I caught some horrendous stomach bug and lost so much weight which I'm just recovering from now - not ideal.

Can't wait to tell friends and family after tomorrow's scan if all is well!

Iamchanging · 29/06/2017 13:59

My entire family and I think girl so we will all laugh when it's a boy probably!!

Rosehyd2 · 29/06/2017 17:41

I'm convinced I'm having a boy and my friends do too. No idea why, just gut feeling!

fasbaby · 04/07/2017 20:06

Hi everyone,

Are any of you considering private healthcare? I've heard only the best things from my friends who went private but can't say the same for NHS experiences.

Thoughts?

Iamchanging · 05/07/2017 07:06

Hi fasbaby,
I'm paying for the harmony test as I think it is worth it for peace of mind but I wouldn't go private for the birth for a couple of reasons, a) I want to labour at home as long as possible and there are no private hospitals near me and b) whilst I'm am lucky enough to be able to afford it if I needed to, I'm the main earner and obviously that will be stopping for a while so I want to be sensible with money!

hanna87 · 05/07/2017 08:18

Hi everyone, have been following for a while but thought I'd finally get myself on here!
14+1 today and due 2nd Jan! Didn't have too many symptoms other than nausea which seems to have dissolved since the 12 week scan!

Really excited by the whole experience especially after a mc at the end of march...seem to be driving my self mad with worry as no scan now until 20 weeks and at Queen Charlottes (chose this over my local hospital becos of the poor maternity care rep) they don't use the fetal doppler until 20 weeks...

How are u all managing to stay positive? Think once I feel some movement it'll calm me down..

Iamchanging · 05/07/2017 10:49

Welcome hanna! I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and it still doesn't feel real. I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I'm lucky in that I have never had to go through that, however I had to have fertility treatment and it took a long time to get pregnant.
Honestly the only way I am managing is by paying for a couple of reassurance scans, and I also got myself a Doppler (and promised DH I wouldn't use it!) however I tried it a few days ago and I can get a heartbeat every time which is so reassuring!

fasbaby · 05/07/2017 12:49

Hello @hannah87 welcome!

We have the same EDD! And I also had a m/c at the end of Jan this year so I feel your worry! If it's any consolation, the risk is now low and if your scans have gone well that's always a good sign. I have been going to get some private scans when the worry was too much and have found the Fetal Medicine Centre in London is EXCELLENT - they are all consultants and the fees go straight into research and aren't exorbitant.

I also find that doing pregnancy meditations (I use the insight timer app) helps me relax and connect with the energy of my baby, even though I can't actually feel movement yet (can't wait for that!).

@iamchanging that sounds like a good plan, I think I'll get Harmony if my nuchal scan blood tests come back with any markers. At the 12w scan they said everything looks good so hopefully won't need to. I am however thinking about getting private obstetrics led care, just because it's my 1st and I would feel very reassured by one doctor knowing me throughout the whole experience instead of whoever is on call if there is an emergency. Home birth is the dream if you can do it though, so much more relaxing and private!

hanna87 · 05/07/2017 18:43

Thank you @fasbaby & @Iamchanging !
Its hard staying sane isn't it?! Will give tge meditations ago, and have ordered a doppler too! Its due to arrive tomorrow-just hope it works!

Also telling my employer tomorrow...should be interesting as another colleague is due to go on Maternity leave at the end of Sep, and were a team of 5, including the head of the department (One colleague has just started)... trying to work out in my mind how to phrase it in my one2one. Their going to hate me as just finished objective setting for the year! Have you guys told your employers?

rachy22 · 06/07/2017 08:05

Hi @hanna87 I'm 14 weeks, have my dating scan on Friday! Can't wait.
I haven't told my employer yet, but was waiting until after this scan, so I guess I'll have to do it soon - eek! Hope your boss takes it well.

I'm definitely going to be pushing for home birth if they'll allow it! Can't afford private, so it'll be the birthing centre if not, which I think is less hospital-like though based in the hospital in case of emergency etc. But home birth is definitely the dream

alins · 19/07/2017 16:57

Hello ladies! How are things going?

Have you started buying things for the baby yet? I wasn't gonna buy any yet but now there are lots of things on sale!

Any advice on a good pram?

Hope everyone is doing well!!

Iamchanging · 19/07/2017 18:20

Hi Alins,
No bought anything yet but I'm seeing my friend this weekend who is giving me loads of clothes and nursery stuff that she is finished with which I'm really excited about.
I also know I'm having a little girl thanks to the Harmony test. Has everyone else had their scan now? Mine was last Friday and I was put forward by 4 days which was cool.

rachy22 · 20/07/2017 12:25

Hi guys.
@alins I've been worried about buying stuff too soon as well, feels like tempting fate. But saw some lovely maternity clothes on sale so ordered a few online.
No idea about prams - there are so many!!

@Iamchanging That's lovely that you're having a girl. I'm conflicted about whether I want to know or not. I like the idea of a surprise 😅

JB1983 · 26/07/2017 18:09

Hi ladies, sorry I haven't been around. We lost our baby just before 14 weeks, but just wanted to wish the rest of you all the best with your pregnancies and new year arrivals x

Iamchanging · 26/07/2017 18:49

Oh JB I'm so sorry to hear your news. I hope that you have loads of support - my heart really goes out to you x

alins · 26/07/2017 19:26

JB I am sorry to hear that. I hope you find the strength to continue on and I wish you loads of luck for the future! Xx

rachy22 · 27/07/2017 07:21

@JB1983 What terrible news! Thinking of you. All the best for the future Flowers

alins · 13/08/2017 19:05

Yesterday we had our 20 weeks scan at 18 weeks and we found out we are having a baby girl!! ❤🎀

Anyone else knows the gender of their baby??

hanna87 · 14/08/2017 21:01

Congrats @alins Easter Smile! We have our scan on Wednesday-but have decided not to find out!

alins · 16/08/2017 18:14

Good luck for your scan!

We couldn't resist, altough it's nice not knowing and have a surprise at the end!

rachy22 · 18/08/2017 10:32

Congrats @alins!

My scan is monday, still haven't decided whether to find out or not, though leaning more towards finding out - so exciting! Grin

Iamchanging · 18/08/2017 19:06

I went full on neurotic first time mother so had the harmony test and found out the sex at 12 weeks! We are also having a little girl! I'm 18 weeks on Sunday and defo have a bump now which I love. Still sick though! Has anyone started buying stuff yet?

alins · 21/08/2017 14:03

Good luck for your scans ladies!

I love the bump too and feeling her kick is incredible. I still can't feel her all the time but if I touch the belly I can feel kicks.

She has already got loads of outfits, shoes, pram, cot... can't help myself not to buy her things! 🙈🙈

Iamchanging · 21/08/2017 19:56

That makes me feel better allins! I've got my pram and all the nursery furniture ordered now 😳

rachy22 · 23/08/2017 07:24

Had my scan and all was well. We decided to find out the gender but not to tell anyone else 🙊
The sonographer had a hard job as little one was moving about all over the place! Grin

I haven't bought any stuff yet, but it feels so much more real now that I may start Wink
