Afternoon all,

Got back from Dubai yesterday - we had a wonderful time - but boy it was hot! (38deg the one day ... I just slouched around!)

I had a bleed while we were away - not enough to go troubling the travel insurance - but enough to make me more paranoid ... but I phoned the hospital this morning - and they told me to go to my GP - luckily, she has had obs & gynae training , and she examined me, then listened for the heart with a sonicaid - and I heard my baby's neartbeat! It took a couple of minutes to find though - this one is a wriggler, just like ds! A real relief ...

kezza - I'm going for a vbac too - and I'm considering the hypnobirthin - but the main thing I'm going to do is hire a doula! DH is wonderful, but he isn't a trained birthing partner - so this is for both of us.

nbq & marie - hi and welcome to both of you .... here's to a long and uneventful stay!

missnatalie - in the rough guide to pregnancy, the author calls the cm 'lady lotion' - which I think is a brilliant description - he bloody staff was the reason for frantic dashes to the loo on more than one occasion in the last 3 months!

beanie - thinking of you - even though rationally everything is going to be fine, it is difficult not to worry!

greedy - make sure you have it written on your notes about the discrepancy with the notes - I had my dates changed with ds (by 11 days), and was then pressured to be induced when I was 12 days over (their dates), and only 1 day over (my dates). I firmly believe that he just wasn't late - and being induced too early was one of the reasons for me needing a cs. When ds was born, he looked like a perfectly at term baby ... but everybody insisted on perpetuating the myth that he was late ...

When he was born, he was 16 days lates (their dates), but only 5 days 'late' by mine ... I have a nwe mantra - 'normal pregnancy lasts between 37 and 42 weeks' - in France the due date is given as 41 weeks ...

Right, off my soapbox ... love to all of you!

Afternoon everyone

hope you all had a lovely Easter. Dubai sounds great ejt, better than my impromtu visit to a funfair in sunny Harlow! why do funfairs attract such ...ahem..strange people. Oh well, ds loved it and dh was happy to cough out £1.50 for a ride so all was good.

Hypnobirthing is booked, just waiting to hear about course dates. Quite excited about it actually.

beanie, I didnt realise you had had a stillbirth, how awful for you. I hope the extra scans you hjave give you lots of reassurance.

where are Honeyapple and Gemmamc, I want to see more smiley faces added to the scan list {smile]

good luck vitomum and verso for tomorrow.

greedyforbabies · 10/04/2007 16:20

hi ejt - glad you had a good holiday and got to hear little ones HB!
i have decided if i do go overdue by their dates i will say no to being induced until i am 10 days over by my dates, if that makes sense. i am sure my dates are right, but there is only a few days in it and i couldn't be arsed to argue with the midwife cos she seemed to think she knew best!

how is your MS now ejt? mine has been at its worst by far the last 2 weeks. it has been really getting me down, but having said that it has been much better today so far. i even managed a creme egg earlier!

i am still bleeding on and off, is anyone else? i am trying to convince myself that its nothing to worry about and i have had 3 scans now and all was ok, but its still hard not to worry. once i can feel baby moving i think i will feel better.

october doesn't seem too far away anymore! not when there is a due in nov and due in dec thread already! AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH! anyone else started thinking about names yet?

greedyforbabies · 10/04/2007 16:22

kezza - honeyapples scan isn't till 6pm so she wont be on here yet.
so...........harlow hey? spooky! thats about 5 minutes from where i am right now! do you live close to harlow?

KezzaG · 10/04/2007 16:30

greedy you are in Herts, I thought someone on this thread was close to me, I didnt realise it was you.

I am in Epping so venture into Harlow every now and then. We went to Harlow town park Monday and I didnt realise there was a funfair, and once ds saw it there was no going back.

what hospital do you give birth in?

greedyforbabies · 10/04/2007 16:31

princess alexandra. how about you?

greedyforbabies · 10/04/2007 16:32

im in sawbridgeworth, next door to the beckhams! (almost!!!)

KezzaG · 10/04/2007 16:34

yep PAH. Last time I was in at the same time as Jade Goody (and she stole my first choice of name )

If you hear someone yelling "sod the hypnobirthing, get me an epidural" you will know it is me

Ohh the Beckhams eh. Do you hang around outside when they have their parties and spot the celebs?

greedyforbabies · 10/04/2007 16:37

how spooky! we could be in the same hospital at the same time! when was your ds born............i notice he is 2! my dd is 2 as well. she was born jan 2005.
have you been having your scans at PAH then? whats your EDD again!
OOOOOOOooooooooooooo! i'm getting all excited! is that weird?

greedyforbabies · 10/04/2007 16:40

just checked and you are due the day before i think i am due.................i will probably be the one in hospital who doesn't make it quite in time and gives birth in the coridoor!

KezzaG · 10/04/2007 16:41

I am too, how funny.

I had my 12 weeks scan at PAH, but my next one is at St Margarets local to me.

ds was born Oct 04. That would be so weird if we were in together. Weird but good, no one spoke to each other last time. My EDD has just been revised to 1st October but I was 12 days late last time. Just checked the stats thread, we are not that far apart.

and of course I checked your photo, I am pleased to see you look nice and normal (in a very good way you understand)

KezzaG · 10/04/2007 16:45

Im off home now, from where I work, in Harlow. LOL curiouser and curiouser.

greedyforbabies · 10/04/2007 16:50

oh my god! i meant to take that photo off! it was only supposed to be on there for a day for someone on another thread to see!
my edd has been revised too, to 30th sept! i was 8 days late with ds and 1 day late with dd so you never know! i am planning for an in and out hospital stay though! quick as i can! how about you?
i checked out your photo too, i guess you look kind of normal!
so you work in harlow do you...........HHHHhhhhhhhhmmmmmmm!

gemmamc · 10/04/2007 17:15

Kezza
Hi and thanks for asking....my scan is tomorrow at 1.45....
aaaaaaargh....

no, it's all under control..and I am still relatively calm...

Also, a combination of lots of work to do today, plus the idea that tonight the final episode of Life on Mars is on the telly have taken my mind of the scan!!

I'll let you all know how it went as soon as I get back home tomorrow.

buffythenappyslayer21 · 10/04/2007 17:32

hi everyone!!

ejt dubai sounds lovely!!hope you had a good time!sorry to hear about the bleeding but hope its nothing serious.

been thinking about names, have decided that if its a boy he will be called harrison paul (paul is dh's middle name and harrison is a family name) and if its a girl maddison grace, but i also like skye,dh isnt keen!

anyone else got any names sorted yet?

greedyforbabies · 10/04/2007 18:43

i liked skye for my last one, but never used it! you can have it buffy!
i'm not sure about names yet, something unusual but nice! i like coralie, but dh doesn't and serien, not sure! its such a responsibility naming children isn't it!?

ejt1764 · 10/04/2007 19:23

Evening all,

greedy - I don't blame you about the induction - that's one battle I don't have to fight this time around - most docs (mine included) don't like inducing women who've had previous cs - most problems arise then (in terms of rupture of scar) ...

gemma - good luck for your scan!

buffy - I like all the names you mentioned - the only thing I know is that the baby, be it male or female, will have a Welsh name - as we're a Welsh speaking household, it makes sense! I quite fancy Mairwen for a girl ... (it means white / blessed Mary), dh and I have a system for choosing names - we each make a list of names we like, then make a short-list from that list. This time around, I get the casting vote if it's a girl, while dh will get the casting vote for a boy. DS's name was my choice ... he's called Rhydian (which is an old Welsh saint).

I don't want to think about it too much just yet though - I'd got a name picked out for the last two - the first angel would have been called Ioseff and the second one would've been called Manon. I still like that name, but I don't feel I can use it again ... has anybody else done that?

Sorry, won't get morbid ...

I have been weeding this afternoon - the ms has retired to just the early morning now, and I can finally get into a position where I can pull the weeds without puking - there were so many of the damnable things!

ejt - what is the welsh for star or twinkle? my dh is welsh and so are all his family and he has told me that seren or serien means star (i think). is that right? i would like name with a bit of a welsh edge!

maisym · 10/04/2007 23:11

Had the risk factors of downs syndrome today - just above the cut of point for an amnio being recommended but - Thinking about an amnio to know for sure but worried about the risk of doing this against the risk factor of probs as detailed in the blood test. Anyone else like this?

thehairybabysmum · 11/04/2007 10:22

Hello maisym, sorry no experience ofthis but my friend sent a link to a decision aid toolt hat might help decision aid tool

My GP also advised me when i told her i was booking nuchal to consider the longer term implications of testing...i.e ifyou have amnio and it is positive then what would that mean for you?? If you would carry on with the pregnancy anyway then is it worth the m/c risk i guess??

Honeyapple...chuffed for you

buffythenappyslayer21 · 11/04/2007 11:17

greedy seren is star,we also live in wales but only our kids speak welsh.me and dh are english, and ive never managed to grasp the language!

ejt, love the name manon, there are quite alot of lovely welsh names, but that means that you get quite alot of children in the same class with the same names!!(there are 5 tomos' in ds's class!!)

both me and dh are convinced that our bump is a boy.dont know why but just have a feeling!so it'll probably turn out to be a girl!!

anyway how is everyone on this lovely day?dh is just taking pics of one of the 3 pushchairs im sticking on ebay!need a serious clearout!!!

hope everyone has a great day!!

gemmamc · 11/04/2007 11:40

maisym - I think there are specific discussions about this on other threads, in the pregnancy section. You may want to have a look.

I have my nuchal fold test today in a couple of hours, and have also been wondering whether I should do it or not - given I will probably not go for a CVS or amnio given the risk of m/c and the fact I am very reluctant to think of the possibility of termination at a late stage of pregnancy (esp in the case of amnio).

But it's a very very personal decision you need to take. I am finding it quite hard to decide what to do, but decided to "go with the flow"....and take the offer to have at least the screening - which carries no risks apart from the risk of being unnecessarily worried for the next 6 months, I suppose.

I talked to my dh, and he reckons it's better to have the nuchal fold screening anyway, and then decide what to do next according to what we are told.

MrsFish · 11/04/2007 12:40

Greedyforbabies - I have had names sorted out for this one pretty much after we had ds

Benjamin Wheeldon (family name) for a boy
Charlotte Eleanor for a girl

I have my next lot of bloods being done tomorrow to check for DS and SB then will just have to keep fingers crossed for another week or so to get those results back
