Morning all!

Pleased to hear you have a new place to go to J2O. New baby, new start! Sounds exciting. I hope it's nice...

Kittiwake - I'm going to have a look at that link - sounds lovely and we need a cheap holiday in the UK this summer! Problem is I think a lot of the accommodation is already booked for summer holidays.

Blooming - congratulations and welcome!

Tallis, Pheebe and Buffy - wish I had a doppler. It would be so reassuring, but I guess might cause a few panics too. Fortunately, I can feel more of the baby's movements at the moment so not feeling too worried...

Lacking - I only access MN at work as I'm always too busy at weekend and I can promise you it is a challenge to keep up!

Feeling tired and stressed this morning. Ds is sleeping in our room whilst we have some Polish decorators staying and was awake in the night. We ended up having him in bed with us and I think he had a nightmare at around 03:00. Then, when I went to pick up the floor sander which I booked yesterday, the store manager had walked out yesterday, none of the machines had been tested and they couldn't give me one. So I had to go to another two hire stores to get one for the Poles and ended up getting to work at gone 10:30! NOT good. So my dad is now taking ds for his MMR jab this afternoon so I don't have to leave work early as well - dh is tied up with clients. The weighty responsibility of DIY and parenthood!!

Mumpbump · 24/04/2007 12:57

Kitti - what a bummer - it only sleeps two and no children under 12 allowed. Looks great though. Have a nice time...

ejt1764 · 24/04/2007 14:28

apologies for cross posting ...

Hi Ladies,

a sneaky post at work - I have a free lesson (non-contact hour ) and have finished doing what I wanted to do, so though I'd sneak on here! [guilty emoticon!]

Thanks for all you support over the weekend - I really appreciate it!

Yesterday was absolutely fine - I felt like cr*p first thing, and was really glad that my A level class wasn't happening as they had their A level oral test!

I have confided in a couple of my close friends - and we've narrowed it down to one person who I asked a favour of (to pick something up as I needed to give it to my friend we stayed with in Dubai) - who was the only peron who really knew. I feel so naive now - this person I thought was a friend ... I'm too nice for my own good sometimes!

I've also spoken to a colleague who is my union rep (handy that I'm friendly with her anyway), and she's confirmed that dephead shouldn't be saying anything about my attendance considering that my absence was pg related.

I'm really glad to be back - the kids are all so please to see me - even when I've told them all that I'm doing assessments with them for the next couple of weeks ... I feel really appreciated (by the kids at least!)

Right, better get my room ready for the year class I'm expecting in 2 minutes!

Take care all!

Mumpbump - Hope you are feeling better soon.

Ejt - glad things are going well for you at work.

I'm getting excited, off to Marrakesh for a long weekend on thursday, ds is going to MiL's for 3 nights.

Mumpbump · 24/04/2007 15:49

Marrakesh - I am SO jealous!! It has been the next place on my "places to go before I die" list for the last 5 years. Haven't made it 'cos I met dh and he has his children every weekend. I still live in hope though! Have a fabulous time!!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 24/04/2007 16:37

Pheebe · 25/04/2007 08:08

Hi All

Welcome to all the new faces .

Got a nuchal fold scan and blood test this morning. Looking forward to seeing bub again but getting really nervous about the results. Should have em by Friday so not too long to wait.

14 weeks exactly today and absolutely sure I can feel flutters now. I felt DS about 13-14 weeks too, no one believed me at the time. Thought I could feel this one at 12 weeks!!

Sickness has all but gone now but still knackered by 7pm! Its all I can do to keep up with Enders! Ok babbling from nerves now, best get DS ready for nursery and head oof...wish me luck...

MrsFish · 25/04/2007 08:41

Good luck

J20BABY · 25/04/2007 09:29

hope all is well pheebe, i'm exactly 17 weeks today.

am going to boots this morning as they have starter packs of reusable nappies half price.

had a dream last night that i had a girl, this time in 3 weeks, hopefully i should know what flavour i'm having!

hope everyone is good today

honeyapple · 25/04/2007 09:50

Oooh J20- what reusable nappies are boots selling? Which type? I am hoping to have the energy to go for reusable this time around, can't bear the thought of all those nappies in a land fill site.

BloomingBennett- just wanted to say- read your other thread- and wanted to give you my support. I was 21 when PG with my DS, so although not a teenager, I certainly was quite young. I was at university at the time, and managed to finish and get my degree- I wrote my dissertation mostly with a very small DS attached to my boobs! All things are possible, you sound like you have really great family support- which is the most important thing. Don't feel ashamed to ask for help. My mum was fantastic- and her relationship now with my DS is VERY special. Don't worry yet about birth, you have quite a while until that event, and the most important thing is to concentrate on enjoying your pregnancy and bonding with your baby. BTW you are the perfect age to give birth!

I have my proper MW booking in appointment this afternoon which I am looking forward to. Hope I like Maureen! (MW name) Do you agree that Maureen sounds a bit of an old matron type MW?!!

Apricott · 25/04/2007 10:03

Morning all

Just wrote a post then lost it - don't quite know how - v annoying though. Specially when sneaking onto MN at work!

Reading about J20's dream reminded me I dreamt last night, I had the baby and everything was great until I remembered, ages later, that I hadn't delivered the placenta! Turned into a bit of a nightmare at that stage...

Ejt - I am indeed as far west as Swansea - I work in Swansea, live in lovely Langland.

Last time I was pg I had no internet, this time I'm becoming addicted to this and other pg related sites - is this normal?!

greedygreedyguzzler · 25/04/2007 10:07

hello bloomingbennett - i had to read your profile after reading what honeyapple said, and i saw you wanted words of encouragement!

i would second what honeyapple said about being the perfect age to give birth............apparently the body is most ready and able to give birth during your teenage years and then its all downhill from then on.................sorry everyone else!

also, i think you are in a perfect position regarding experience..............all those younger siblings you have watched grow up...........i wish i had been around so many babies when i had my first! i didn't have a clue!!!

buffythenappyslayer21 · 25/04/2007 11:03

morning everyone!!hows everyone today?

got dh's aunty and uncle coming today so thought i would nip in and say hi whilst hes gone to the tip!(made the kids clean their rooms last night, had massive clearout so getting rid beofre they get home from school!!)
supposed to be cleaning but cant be arsed!!was awake again last night for most of the night.had bloody hercules planes flying right over our house.its getting ridiculous now.we gte the little fast noisy ones skim the tops of the trees, but having the hercules fly over is really scarey.

apparently they fly 300 metres above sea level and guess what....we are at the top of the hill with the sea at the bottom,so tehy get away with flying over our house!

gonna take my kids to raf valley and leave them there, they can try getting tehm to sleep!!!

sorry for the moan, but am tired!!

have a great day everyone!!!

Tallis · 25/04/2007 12:39

Morning Buffy, morning BloomingB, and every one else. Had first nosebleed last night, conveniently at 11.30pm. Whey-hey - v excited as is sign there's still something happening as otherwise pregnancy is proving weirdly non-eventful (between scans that is...)

BloomingB, as a 38-y-o first-time mum-to-be, with complaining ligaments and fears of being carted off to the geriatric mothers unit, I yearn to be a lithe bendy teenager...

no seriously, I think that for many modern women who go on to further education and expect to work through their twenties, thirties and prob beyond, there's never an "ideal" time to stop and have a baby. It always means a sacrifice of some sort...

I've not done the motherhood thing yet, obviously, but it seems to me that what's most important is that you have bags of help from partner, family, friends and so on. You're really close to what's already a big family so it looks as if you've got support in spades And they'll be on hand to help you go on with your exams etc in the future. So your opportunities aren't being stifled - and you'll have a lovely baby to boot!

Have you had scans and stuff?

Pheebe · 25/04/2007 12:47

Hi All
Well the deed is done. At the moment I don't care what the outcome is it was such a fantastic scan. Saw everything! Spine, ribs, legs, hands, tongue! he stuck his tongue out and I say he coz I swear I could see a little widget - doc wouldn't say either way though. It was expensive but worth every penny and its decided one thing, my risk of an abnormality will have to be really high for me to risk having anything else done.
They've also revised my dates again to 13+2 which gives me an EDD of the 31st October which is much more in line with what I thought originally.

PS. BlooomingBennett well done you for going ahead with the pg sound to me like you've got all the support you need and you'll make a great mum. Keep going with your studies, how fab for your bub to see its mum go through uni as it grows up and see you graduate

honeyapple · 25/04/2007 13:28

Great news Pheebe! Sorry- is this your first baby? I can't remember- difficult keeping up with everyone. We paid for a 12 wk scan too- really great to have the reassurance that there is REALLY a REAL baby in there!

Just off to see Maureen (MW) hopefully get booked up for my 20 wk scan... only 6 wks to go!

Pheebe · 25/04/2007 14:05

Thanks Honey, this is number 2, we didn't really worry about the downs issue with ds but alas I'm that much older now - a ripe old 36.

Hope your visit with Maureen the Midwife (I imagine her as older, grey hair, large bosom and rather tight clothing for some reason lol)went well

ejt1764 · 25/04/2007 17:11

Afternoon all,

I'm settling in nicely to work ... the vast majority of people have been lovely - the LSAs that work in my classroom (we have a lot of kids with special needs at the scholl where I work) have been especially lovely, and have all told me that they're glad I'm back ... asI said before, it's good to be appreciated! They're all mothering me too - even those younger than me - that's a real novelty!

There's even colleagues going to fetch me cold cups of water if they come in the loos while I'm puking - that's friendship!

MrsFish - have a wondeful time in Marrakesh - tell us all about it when you get back!

BB - Welcome - as the others have said, there's never a 'perfect' time to have a baby ... and physically you're in about the best state when you're young! When I had ds at the ripe old age of 31, I leant on my mum just as much as if I'd been 21! All first time mums are in the same place - in fact you're probably better prepared with me - I had had absolutely no experience with babies - I didn't even know a) how to change a nappy or b) how to bath my baby without breaking him!
By the sound of it, you're a lot more clued up than I was!

Pheebe - fantastic news about your scan!

honeyapple - hope Maureen is lovely!

Apricott - Even at 50-odd miles away, I still feel like I have a neighbour! And yes, it is worryingly easy to get addicted to mn!

buffy - I can only sympathise with you about the low-flying raf aircraft ... I used to work at the secondary school local to St. Athan, and they always seemed to practice their bl**dy low flying over school when we were trying to record GCSE speaking tests! (Now I work in the inner-city, and we get a lot of siren noise instead!)

Tallis - I hate the nosebleeds - I have one everyday - in the morning, usually first thing - it must be horrendous having them at night!

love to all, am going to acupuncture tonight, thenalmost straight to ad - ds was up for a long time last night as he had a really bad nightmare and wet the bad - he found it really difficult to get back to sleep ....

take care!
