Congratulations Rabbity

Agree with Dream, thanks for the advice Newbie, anyone else with anything, I'm more than happy to receive it! Dream, I think for the baby, me and DH its best to get the all rolling. I didn't realise how stressed I was until virgin media screwed up the returning their box label and I threw my phone across the room I'm normally pretty chilled out, so it can't be good for the baby to feel me like this. As long as you make the right decision for you, that's the main thing :)

40+12 now, never thought baby would be inside me still! Lol

savagehk · 15/05/2017 07:56

I'm pretty sure this one is going to take a while yet. Officially 40+9 today, but previous baby only arrived at 40+19 so expecting "within the next two weeks" really. Not fed up and happy to stay pregnant as long as it takes, only fed up with the "still with us" and "you shouldn't be out" comments from acquaintances and random people in the street.

BouncingBlueberry · 15/05/2017 08:46

Congratulations to all those who have had beautiful babies! Keep the pictures coming to try to inspire ours to come. Got my first sweep tomorrow at 38+6. Community midwife wants to try to do two to either get things going naturally or to help with the planned induction next week. @newbieho thanks for the tip about pants. I've got some big MnS ones but some disposables would be good too. Good luck @nursebickypegs if I remember rightly it's your babies birthday today? Xxx

crazyzooo · 15/05/2017 09:32

Congratulations on all the new babies 💙💜!

I was admitted on post natal ward for 5 days (over two stays) and I never left my baby. I carried him everywhere (no one said anything) and took his cot (on wheels) with me to the toilet and when I had a shower.

EsmesBees · 15/05/2017 09:38

Congratulations to rabbity and all the others with new babies. Due in 5 days and hoping mine stays put for the time being.

I think you are right blueberry- nursebickypegs was booked in for her section today. Good luck if you are still reading!

And hope all is going well with the move bean

1004Rise · 15/05/2017 09:48

Going home today (hopefully! Trying not to jinx us by writing it down). 😁

To add to @newbieho advice

  • a small pump spray bottle for cold water to cool you down on the ward is essential, hot hospital combined with plastic covers on everything I have been melting!
  • and I second saying yes EVERY time they offer you pain relief the lady across from me made the mistake of saying no at lunchtime yesterday and was in tears by teatime 🙁
  • don't be afraid to ask for more pain relief if you need it, there is no point being in hospital in pain!

@Autumnsweater knew I'd forgotten something! Does anyone have one of the fancy cartridge ones or do they just work out really expensive?

Today's revaluation I can drink tea again.... somehow it's never hot!

Rustler74 · 15/05/2017 09:51

Congratulations @mrscrocopop and @Rabbitykins55 !
@Autumnsweater we have been lucky to get the sangenic from my PIL which they'd bought for their first grandchild and they'd never used it. For on the road I'd probably use Lidl nappy sacks which I got loads from (baby show).

teainbed · 15/05/2017 11:15

Excellent hospital advice ladies! Hope you all get out soon!

We had a Sangenic in the past which was good if a bit pricey on the cartridges and even then could be a bit smelly. Currently I'm just bagging them and taking them straight out as our wheelie bin is at the back door. If you live in a flat or the rubbish is a walk away then definitely worth investing!

BabyTea has a physio appointment today to get his hips checked so we're back to the children's hospital! Pretty foul day to be going out. Hope all the still pregnant ladies have a restful day.

Northernexile · 15/05/2017 11:50

Congratulations to you all - stationary, rabbitty, mrscrocopop and newbieho!
Good luck to everyone with imminent sweeps/inductions too.
I must say I left DS to go to the toilet. I waited for DH when I wanted a shower, but there was no way any of the midwives had time to sit with the crib and I wouldn't have contemplated wheeling him into the rather unsanitary toilets. Everyone else on the ward did the same too, so I never gave it much thought! Also, we found Water Wipes very good on the meconium nappies this time around. Theybare very gentle and we would have been there for hours trying to use cotton wool on them I think!

Northernexile · 15/05/2017 11:51

Good luck with the physio tea, hope all is OK.

stationaryace · 15/05/2017 13:24

Last time my sister bought me a nappy bin, think it was a Tommy tippee one with a few cartridges. This time I'm just using cheap bin liners and shoving it in the top, then emptying the bin each day. Only plan on using it for a week before moving to cloth nappies.

So glad not to be pregnant any more but was kept up by the toddler last night, not the baby, who had nightmares for the first time in months. Don't think it's a coincidence given baby's arrival, and hoping it doesn't last long. Especially as dh has to see to her while I feed baby.

teainbed · 15/05/2017 15:07

Physio was fine thanks, @Northernexile it was an extra hip check as we have a family history. She said BabyTea had exceptionally long legs (was noted at scan too!) which will be why he's probably only got a couple of weeks left in the Moses basket. Shock

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 15/05/2017 18:32

Hope you got to go home rise and glad physio outcome was good tea.

40+12 induction day nearly came and went without me seeing a medical establishment but they finally have a bed for me so leaving home in an hour or so. Woohoo! Bright best of luck for tomorrow Grin

teainbed · 15/05/2017 18:38

Good luck @dreamofhungarianlanterns !

EsmesBees · 15/05/2017 19:20

Best of luck dream! Not long to wait for you now.

Badgerbird · 15/05/2017 19:37

Yay! Made it through our seaside break away without baby arriving!
I am however very pregnant and have not only done a brilliant waddle along the seafront this morning but have cried 4 times at nice things (friend in labour, guide dog, people saying nice things.. .) Blush

Good luck dream!! Not long till you meet your snuggley baby. Hope ducklings don't get jealous Grin

BouncingBlueberry · 15/05/2017 20:13

@dreamofhungarianlanterns Can I babysit the ducklings?

Brightsmoke · 15/05/2017 20:16

Thanks and Good luck Dream, hope it all goes well for you! I'm super excited to finally meet baby (I will have a baby this week, woo!)

We have the tommee tippee sangenic (I think?), cartridges are expensive, but we managed to get a good deal on them from Argos.

Hope physio went well Tea

Fingers crossed your home now Rise

samatamfabahaba · 15/05/2017 21:18

Can I ask what is probably a stupid question... will the midwife do an "inspection" at my 39 week appointment? I'm low risk, no concerns, no issues. Just my friend said she read that the midwife will have a sneaky poke of your cervix? I'm not 12 by the way, although I'm aware I sound it. 😂

newbieho · 15/05/2017 21:39

Good luck@dreamofhungarianlanterns x

Great news @teainbed on the hip check!

@samatamfabahaba no sneaky poke inspection from the midwife on my cervix in 39 week.

Newbie baby and I are still in hospital due to my high blood pressure (?) and delayed paediatrician check of the baby. Not happy about it and would prefer to be at home. Baby started cluster feeding and does not want to be left alone.

Good tip of the day from the midwife: do your pelvic floor exercises while feeding the baby.

savagehk · 15/05/2017 21:41

No mention of inspection here at 39w. If you were wanting to go into labour soon they might offer you a sweep or internal i guess but mine were always done at the hospital not in the community last time.

samatamfabahaba · 15/05/2017 21:45

I didn't think so. Thanks!!

1004Rise · 15/05/2017 22:00

Made it home, nice to be somewhere peaceful. Baby having a very mucusy sick day, think we're on outfit number 6 but better out than in and all that Confused. Not helped however by me then leaking all over her Blush

She cluster fed last night and my boobs have responded by ballooning to the size of melons.... desperately waiting for her to be really hungry again!

Good luck @dreamofhungarianlanterns we're all with you in spirit. Grin

@newbieho sorry you're still stuck, I realised today when we were leaving that I actually had no idea where anything outside the confines of my curtain was in the hospital Blush

It was scarily easy to walk out with a baby though, no one questioned anything.

Good news on the hips @teainbed Brew

Rustler74 · 15/05/2017 22:30

Best of luck @dreamofhungarianlanterns and @Brightsmoke

Glad you are home now @1004Rise

My mum and dad have arrived today and we had a nice chilled afternoon with a cup of coffee and their first ever crumpet! I must be mad sharing them! I'll have to get some more!
Sweep at midwife tomorrow but I'm feeling much more tightening and the pelvis pressure has increased tenfold now. My dad said that if it sets off labour tomorrow he will stay a bit longer instead of going home Wednesday ! I'm hoping I'll have some time and energy tomorrow to help him put the changing table together. Maybe the cheeky Nando's was stretching it a bit too? The harmonious relationship I had with my OH during the flat pack wardrobes (also Ikea) is not quite like the one I have with my dad and I may mutter something along the lines of RTFM...

Wish us luck!
