5th thread!

Going by the pace of ‘Thread #4’, this could the last one as we might all have our babies by the time it runs out. Unless we all give detailed commentary during labour Grin.

I've no idea if that's standard practice wildone but I'm sure it's all ok either way. Great that you got agreement on the c-section, that'll be a big weight off your mind.

Let us updated on your monitoring :)

As for me I've another dose of a cold :( feel awful and I'm now starting to wonder if I should go on antibiotics.

LuciBee231015 · 04/05/2017 10:56

Worst sleep last night!! Mind was racing, baby was dancing, legs were aching 😩 I'm so tired today!

Anyone got any recommendations for baby carriers/slings?

wildone81 · 04/05/2017 10:56

Thanks twixies. Just need to get anxiety nailed for time being and get back to work for my last 5 weeks! So much to do before I finish up, will need loads of time of for consultant, extra monitoring and perinatal mental health appointments, and mat cover still hasn't been recruited.... just keep repeating to myself that it's not my job to find the solution, just to do what I can in the meantime!

glitterglitters · 04/05/2017 11:43

@LuciBee231015 see if you have a sling library near you. Slings are very personal and dependent on your preferences etc. It's good to try a few out before committing.

I've got a Connecta but that's based on trying a stretchy, ergo, Caboo with my dd. X

Spindelina · 04/05/2017 14:08

I'd second the recommendation to go to a sling library if possible.

But having said that, for the first few weeks / months, most people get on best with either a stretchy wrap (kari me / moby etc) or a close caboo (which is basically a pre-tied stretchy). The disadvantage of a stretchy for is is the heat - I got my Manduca partly because it was apparent that prising the kari me off me to wash was going to be an issue, and partly because it was cooler.

Twixes · 04/05/2017 14:43

I have a close caboo and found the fact that I didn't have to master any crazy, complicated tie system was good.

We're holding off on getting a double buggy til baby arrives and will make do with baby in sling, toddler in other buggy. Or if we're both out with baby + toddler we could take a buggy each as we have two (bugaboo bee and babyjogger city mini gt Blush). Our toddler is going to be in creche full time for the first few weeks anyway so if I need to head out during the day I'll only have baby with me.

Totally digression from your question there!

TinklingTheIvories · 04/05/2017 15:31

I'll be popping along to our local sling library at some point

Had my 28 week midwife appointment. They said I should've had bloods last week at the hospital. (Hospital had said I should have them at the midwife appt!)

Heard (and recorded) the heartbeat which is good, measuring 27cm too which is ok. Got to go to the hospital on Tuesday (again) for my GTT as the midwives were annoyed the Hosp hadn't done bloods or arranged this. I think I need to get a book to write things in as I keep forgetting what's been said and have to get them to repeat it so many times!

Also booked in for breastfeeding classes. It's all becoming real now. Scary stuff!!

Notyetthere · 04/05/2017 16:24

Tinkling I had my 28wks bloods done at the same time as GTT so actually your midwife shouldn't be miffed off too much. I had a discussion with her about those tests and GTT results at the 31wks appointment.

My back hurts and my ribs are agony and I can't walk without waddling and I've still got two months to go Sad!

I just really need a moan - why does nobody in real life actually talk about how physically demanding pregnancy is? I was very naive about the whole thing before now. And I know it's only going to get harder!

LuciBee231015 · 04/05/2017 18:11

Yep I have a sling library, I'll give that a go!

nat2311 · 04/05/2017 19:06

Thumbsup I'm completely with you! I'm tired and back and hips ache all the time and keep thinking how I'm going to get bigger and feel worse! But hate moaning to others as I just feel they judge that I'm moaning already!

I'm assuming it's a silly question but what's a sling library?

Any update on how the twins are doing?

Spindelina · 04/05/2017 19:15

A sling library is an organisation (sometimes commercial, usually less so) where you can borrow slings to try out. Ours charges £8 for two weeks hire, plus a deposit equal to the value of the sling. Google sling library and your location to see if there's one near you.

Also great for hiring gorgeous woven wraps to go with wedding outfits! But that's probably not where you're at quite yet.

nat2311 · 04/05/2017 19:57

Thanks @spindelina I'll have a google Smile

Twixes · 04/05/2017 20:25

Another one with a moan about aches and pains!

My back is really starting to hurt now and I'm getting the all too familiar groin stabs that I got really badly last time :-/ I have to be very careful about swinging my legs apart, knees together at all times from here on in! Halo

TinklingTheIvories · 05/05/2017 14:34

Just got off the phone with the docs - need even more blood tests doing on Tuesday now, as my niece (who is round every weekend!) has got slapped cheek. The docs say that I'm probably ok, and as I don't have symptoms I'm probably immune, but want me to have more bloods done to check. If I've got it then I will need more monitoring and scans later on.

Had a big panic when my BiL told me, but the docs have reassured me that it's nothing to worry about.

Least I've heard off the doc so I'll be able to chill this weekend

bluebird1235 · 05/05/2017 15:50

Hi all. Twins doing really well. Just got the all clear on their head scans which was the last unknown so I'm super happy. Now they've just got to get bigger and stronger.

Both now on low flow oxygen on a really low setting but can't quite cope without it.

Both now having expressed breast milk feeds through a tube. One managed slightly bigger amounts than the other so hopefully this will keep improving. Expressing is quite hard but going really well and totally worth it!

Should be getting them both out for a cuddle this afternoon!

I feel for those of you with aches and pains! I can't tell you that they go away completely when the baby comes out though! To be honest, the most surprising thing for me post pregnancy is how big my tummy is. It's still MASSIVE. People keep asking me when I'm due...

LuciBee231015 · 05/05/2017 15:59

@bluebird what wonderful news! You must be so happy that they are both responding well to the outside world! Congratulations again and enjoy your cuddles!

ButterflyFree · 05/05/2017 16:45

@bluebird1235 What a lovely update; so glad to hear both little ones are doing well Flowers Enjoy your cuddles today!!

And don't worry about your stomach... some (genetically blessed) women magically seem to spring back to their pre-pregnancy shape within a matter of days, but most take at least 2 weeks for that swollen pregnant belly look to go down. And you had two babies in there!!

TinklingTheIvories · 05/05/2017 17:08

Yay bluebird that's great news! Hope you enjoy the cuddles! Still can't believe we've had the first babies in this group!

mynameisntLinda · 05/05/2017 20:11

What a lovelybupfatw bluebird. Expressing is such hard work but like you say it's so worth it.x
lucibee I had a stretchy last time which was fab for a newborn but a bit if a faff when you're already out.great in the house though.
I'm thinking if treating myself to a close caboo thus time. I was a bit late to sling party and the 3vi had were all eBay cheapies but did the job well. A palm and long ring sling and a mei tai were my other 2 slings.
Might visit sling library once baby is here coz it's only on 1st Friday of the month so I won't get there until after baby coz of work.
Had me appt yesterday and trainee asked if she could attend my home birth. Sure why not I said. Will already have dh, 2 year old, midwife and a photographer so what's one more lol. I'm now thinking I should take my dining table apart and store it in the garage once I'm 37 weeks so that there's enough room for the pool 🤔 lol

mynameisntLinda · 05/05/2017 20:22

Wasn't sure if it had been mentioned already (and my phone won't seem to let me go back past this page to read previous posts) but dancestomyowntune had the safe arrival of her little girl on 3rd may. She popped a picture in the july facebook group.

ButterflyFree · 06/05/2017 16:05

Today I finally join the rest of you in the third trimester club 😁 Baby appears to have changed position in celebration, as I've started feeling kicks near to my ribcage for the first time this afternoon... the joys!

I'm just wishing the days away as we count down to flying to London on 21st... then I can finally start nesting and doing some baby shopping. Knowing that 3 babies on this thread have already arrived safely is very exciting, but at the same time utterly terrifying for me as I am so dreadfully unprepared 😩😅 Still not one single baby-related purchase has been made!!

danigrace · 06/05/2017 16:23

Wowee @bluebird1235!! Big congratulations! How are you feeling? Flowers
Congratulations @dancestomyowntune also!! Flowers
(this is exciting and super scary at the same time these lovely babies arriving already!!)

How are you doing @nat2311? Has the infection eased?

@wildone81 I think that's pretty standard round here, just enjoy it like you said Smile

@Twixes hope you're feeling better? Brew

@LuciBee231015 my sister has tried a LOT of slings and swears by her ergobaby 360 which does always seem to be reviewed very well and has won a lot of gold awards, moby her 2nd fave. I echo what others say in maybe trying a sling library though.

@thumbsupforthesixbillion big hugs. I have days like that too, mostly if I've skipped one of my antenatal exercise classes (yoga/aquanatal/pilates), I find they help me immensely.

Yay for home birth @mynameisntLinda! Ate you having NHS midwives? We're hoping to do the same. Anyone else?

We got a nice little haul from the Aldi and Tesco baby events today. Got some nice cellular blankets for £2.99 from Aldi and some muslins and other bits and bobs. Got medicine cabinet stocks and laundry supplies from Tesco - was able to stack the coupons from Emma's Diary pack for the laundry stuff and CaringEveryDay calpol coupons on top of the baby event discounts. And it all counted towards a total £20 spend to get the attached pic gift box free, worth popping in if there's bits you need. Smile

July 2017 #5 - Third Trimester is Here!
danigrace · 06/05/2017 16:28

Cross post @ButterflyFree! Not long now til you're back Smile Enjoy making lists and Pinteresting if that's your thing so you feel like preparations are getting done. I agree it's scary babies arriving! We aren't ready either!

nat2311 · 06/05/2017 16:39

@danigrace had to go back yesterday to have the catheter changed and they left it out for 2hrs to see if I could wee on my own which I couldn't so catheter went back in :( wee was now clear of infection which is good but now they want to check why I have the bladder retention. So feeling a bit better but having a catheter in doesn't help with being comfortable moving around and sitting! Thanks for asking :)

We had a mini panic this week thinking my waters had gone but was actually just the catheter leaking Blush but that along with the babies being born on here made us start washing baby's clothes and packing a hospital bag just in case!

Not long @butterflyfree and you'll be able to nest like crazy!
