5th thread!

Going by the pace of ‘Thread #4’, this could the last one as we might all have our babies by the time it runs out. Unless we all give detailed commentary during labour Grin.

glitter I love line of duty!

Well I woke up several times too with ...I don't know what, I'm gonna say BH but it's not like how I get them in the day, it was like very quick intense tightenings (they are usually longer in the day) I've got nothing now except for the baby is having a massive roll around.
Also my hip was killing me on my left side. So kept rolling on to my right and then that hip would ache.
Oh and the heat of course!

38weeks today. Have midwife appointment tomorrow which I'm looking forward to because I'm boring myself stupid!

Twixes · 20/06/2017 08:24

@nat2311 I think if you're 37 weeks that weight is very possible, big but within normal limits!

@ButterflyFree You've read my mind! He's not too keen though as I already half started to paint a yucky pine chest of drawers they also donated to us and he's that to finish for me. My in-laws are very kind but they're always giving us their old cast offs that I'm not 100% keen on!

I've just been reading about microblading...oooo...I need to sort out my brows. Mine have a good shape naturally shape but they're not as thick as I'd like, has anyone considered Minoxidil/regaine on their brows? Obvs when I'm not pregnant, but it'd be tempting as DH has some there!

One thing I'm going to miss about being pregnant is my hair. Practically every day is a good hair day, it's so glossy and ungreasy. I love it! Normally my hair is a bit lank by the end of the day but at the moment I'm getting three days out of a wash and it still looks amazing!

glitterglitters · 20/06/2017 09:35

Sounds like everybody had it last night. I managed to drift back off at about 5 and then dd woke up at 6. Sad

But dh went and took her down for breakfast and I just woke up yayyy!

LuciBee231015 · 20/06/2017 11:34

I've had some BH throughout the morning as well, haven't been timing them though. Slightly more discomfort than yesterday but not pain. Getting fanny daggers too!

I might a start timing them again and see if there is a pattern.

ButterflyFree · 20/06/2017 11:42

Sorry to everyone who had another rough night 😥 The air conditioning unit continues to be an absolute dream in this heatwave and I was able to tuck myself up comfortably under the duvet, but of course couldn't sleep until after I knew DH had landed safely in Dubai just after 5am... Plenty of random fits of weeping before that though 😩 My hormones had been so wonderfully stable for the past month or more - no mood swings or overemotional reactions whatsoever - but this situation has triggered a real wobble.

He's currently at the military camp going through a stringent medical assessment (blood tests, x-rays, MRI, the works) but the poor thing went from the airport back to our apartment first to collect all his documents etc and get his car, only to discover that his sisters have been into our apartment whilst we're away and helped themselves to BOTH our cars to use in our absence! So he had to get a taxi all 140km to the military base.

I feel stressed and I'm sure baby is picking up on it because he's been even more consistently active than usual... trying to deep breathe and remain calm for his sake.

@Twixes I've never heard of anyone using an actual hair regrowth product for their eyebrows before, but there are several similar concepts designed specifically to encourage eyebrow and eyelash growth (RevitaLash, M2 Beauté etc)... Plus apparently pure castor oil is excellent at thickening up the brows if you apply it daily for several months. But frankly I don't have the patience to wait for those results 😂 I also have a pretty good natural shape and quite dark eyebrow & lash hair, but a side effect of thyroid medication is thinning eyebrows & lashes so I really miss the convenience of my lash extensions and would love to get my brows microbladed for the same reason. The top pic is 100% natural eyebrows and lashes, and the bottom is with eyebrow pencil + extensions... so you can see what a difference it makes, but I just know once baby is here I won't be bothered/have time to fill in my brows every day!!

glitterglitters · 20/06/2017 12:25

Eek at dsils! My family is a bit like that. They just let themselves in and will help themselves to contents of the fridge, bugger about with the tv etc. Dh thinks it's bizarre but we've just always been like that.

I've been known to go to my dsis in the past when I'm ill and just climb into her and her dh bed 🙊 (granted she has been with dh since I was 4 months old so I'm just as close to him too).

Microblading looks amazing from what I've seen and I've got dark, well shaped brows but since I've had them tinted I can really tell the difference. I prefer the microblading look to tattoos as well. I like a thick brow but I'm still keen on the "natural" look.

Managed to get ok sleep last night despite pains etc. I have to sleep with a duvet on whatever though which complicates matters. Even when my parents lived in Bangkok I'd sleep with a duvet. My mum was convinced that a/c was the devil's work and we'd contract legionnaire's disease if we touched it. Grin my tolerance for heat and sweaty heat is probably a lot better than most but pregnancy is a totally different ball game. I'm also loving all the randos telling me how sorry they feel for me being so pregnant in this heat and how they couldn't do it. Erm ok. It's not like I've got a choice Hmm

Other than that trying to concentrate on some blog posts for work and getting distracted by everything and anything. I really need to wrap it up and just sloth out.

Notyetthere · 20/06/2017 13:48

I woke every 2hrs which is normal but this time the pelvic pain wasn't as bad as it was the past 2 nights. If anything, I was in better mood. I woke up at 4am and couldn't sleep again but I did fall back to sleep at 7.45am and didn't wake till 9.30am. Result!

Now sat on sofa, catching up on Poldark not really knowing what to do with myself nextGrin. Glitter you have it right, perfect slothing! I'm loving it. I guess that is how one gets on on maternity leave before baby arrives.

I have not had the twinges that some of you have had like BH or anything close to a tightening. If I have, I didn't recognise it. Maybe thought baby was having a moment of chasing her own tail with the manic movements.

Talking of manic movements, my midwife could not palpate the baby's body parts properly at the 38wk appointment. She initially thought baby was properly head down but then my bump moved with a definite firm round head sized lump sticking out under my left ribs that it took her by surprise. She could not palpate any of the limbs as baby decided to hide those. We basically had, head, back and bum sticking out and those 3 parts were all about the same round size. Anyway, she listened to the heart beat which she picked it up in 3 different places on my belly. So now I am booked in for a presentation scan on Thursday. I also mentioned that I thought some of my waters had gone (about 1oz) but nothing had happened since. She told me off for not having called triage to get checked out so now scan will also look at waters round baby just in case I have been slowly leaking. I don't think I have though as surely I would have noticed increased wetness in the last few days but there is nothing down there.

Butterfly aw I'm sorry you are going through the emotional wringer. Hope DH gets on alright at Abu Dhabi. Hopefully there is a loophole that will get him out of it.

I would like to think I too have been emotionally stable with regards to hormones but Saturday night when the pelvic pain stepped a notch that I went to the toilet and I couldn't climb back into bed. I couldn't lift my legs. DH woke up to find me stood on the edge of the bed, at 3am just staring at the spot at which I wanted to sleep. He asked if I was alright and I just cried; It was the tiredness and sheer lack of sleep. I did get the encouragement from him to slowly get into bed and see if I could find a spot that worked. It hurt so much but maybe I needed him to help get me over the threshold. I limped about most of Sunday but the pain then subsided in the evening. Now back to normal. Hope this baby comes sooner.

mynameisntLinda · 20/06/2017 15:35

@nat2311 That's good then. DS 1 was 75th centile and he came out 8lb 8. apparently average baby weight has increased a lot over the years so when I was born (1989) i was considered normal at 6lbs6 but now it seems that they reckon normal range is just over 7lbs to 9lbs ish. (current baby only predicted to be 6lbs which they considered small). Not bothered as long as their healthy and here safe!

welcome to the thread @HaichM if you want to join the secret FB group just send me a message with your name and i'll add you in.

Tie some frozen bottles of water to the back of your fan! it's like a cheapo version of air con. It seemed to help last night. Apparently due some rain soon so i'm really hoping it ends this hot spell. I can't imagine giving birth in this heat!!! If i went into labout I think i'd be ringing the hospital to ask if their air con worked... that's about the only thing that may sway me from having a home birth hahaha

glitterglitters · 20/06/2017 15:38

Part of me secretly wants to go into labour now just to distract me from the heat. I'm obviously completely insane.

Just made dh go and buy a case of coke for the fridge and a McDonald's milkshake. The milkshake melted so quickly it was like sludge.

He's just announced he has to go on night shift. I'm half terrified I'll go into labour and he'll be in an engine compartment where he can't get signal but also secretly pleased I won't have to share my bed with a big sweaty man tonight 😂

glitterglitters · 20/06/2017 15:39

Also @mynameisntLinda they get really stuffy in hospitals. Even our midwife led ward closes all the windows in established labour to prevent a) screams and b) bugs coming in. ShockConfused

HaichM · 20/06/2017 15:51

Thank you for your kind welcome.

Glitter: I have to say I have been enjoying not sharing my bed with anyone the last few nights as DH is at MILs house sitting.

Notyet: sorry to hear about the pelvic pain but glad it's been a little better

Butterfly: hope you get some good news and that DH is home safe and sound soon.

I had my 34wk mw appt today and she's not very happy that my bump size seems to keep jumping the percentile lines so it's a steeper curve than she would like. If it's the same in 2 weeks I will be sent for a growth scan.

I've also been having tightenings on and off for the last 6-7 hours, some more painful than others. I'm guessing it's Bh (I can't remember what they felt like last time) but the ones I've been having up till now have been more like period pain cramps and only 1 or 2 in the middle of the night/6-7am mark. Turns out the tightenings, especially if baby is moving at the same time, set off my nausea which has been fun.

CatRash · 20/06/2017 22:37

Very jealous of all those with no swollen feet / ankles or very little. Mine are excruciating and sitting at a desk all day isn't helping!! Looking forward to the heatwave to end!!

July 2017 #5 - Third Trimester is Here!
glitterglitters · 20/06/2017 22:44

Oooh @CatRash that is some major swelling. Sad

I'm sat on my ball binge watching OITNB hoping not to go into labour tonight. Dh is on night shift and is deep in the depths of a boat engine with no phone. ConfusedShock

rhodes2015 · 20/06/2017 23:45

Wow catrash you poor thing. Hope it goes down very soon!! When do you finish work?
I had it on Sunday afternoon/evening which was so uncomfortable but it had really gone down by the next morning.

mynameisntLinda · 21/06/2017 06:47

Day 3 of ferrous fumerate and my belly already hurts. I bloody hate orange juice too. Keep getting heartburn but gaviscon prevents iron absorbtion so its rock and a hard place but i know the iron is more important. Oh and the piles (tmi maybe)...dear lord...anyone else suffering with them?? I know from last time that they dissapear pretty much straight after birth but im not sure if i can use cream for them so going to ask pharmasist today whilst im out and about (if i can be arsed going out and about. Its my day off today and not sure i can be arsed traipsing aboit with a 2 year old)

glitterglitters · 21/06/2017 06:49

@mynameisntLinda I'm in that club. It's hideous. I realise now how easy I had it first time round.

Relived to hear they vanish after the baby comes!

I've been guzzling fybogel like nobody's business though. I know iron tablets can make you really.... stuffed up. Sad

CatRash · 21/06/2017 07:04

Oooh yes, unsurprisingly nothing fits - not even flip flops. I can squeeze them into my trainers and wear them undone or DHs size 10 flip flops - which are miles too long!

How are things this morning @glitterglitters? Baby still in situ I hope??

I've still got 2.5 weeks @Rhodes2015 Sad I'm trying to keep as busy as possible at work so it goes by quicker!! Are you finished yet?

Nothing seems to make it go down at the moment but I'm hoping once this heatwave stops then it'll diminish! I'd just be happy with mild swelling for the rest of the pregnancy - anything compared to this would be bliss!!

mynameisntLinda · 21/06/2017 07:04

Glitters good idea ive got some movicol thats still in date from ds1 so i think im going to have one of those after. Im on 2 a day rather than 1 a day of the iron so its gonna back me up i think!
The constipation i had after birth was horrendous. It nearly destroyed my rear end after id been all stitched back together. The lactulose ran out and no one suggested my body might need a helping hand. It nearly ruined all the stitches and it took weeks to repair so i wont be making that mistake again.

CatRash · 21/06/2017 07:07

@mynameisntlinda Can you take anything else for the heartburn like ranitidine (or however it's spelt!)? Not sure how that reacts with iron tablets though!

glitterglitters · 21/06/2017 07:17

Baby still in situ. They've gone a bit quiet (still
moving regularly etc but not as intense bh or pains last couple of days). I've got my mw today, she said she wouldn't be seeing me then. Oh how they tell porkies

That sounds terrifying @mynameisntLinda I'm glad I'm stocked up.

Not going to lie...
It took a few days to get the confidence up after dd to go #2. It was scarier than labour Shock

LuciBee231015 · 21/06/2017 07:19

Glitters any movement from you? I was hoping for some action in the night but not even a twinge and had the best sleep!

glitterglitters · 21/06/2017 07:24

Nope no twinges no nothing last night. Took a while to drop off but slept well when I did.

Little bugger is keeping me on my toes.

I'm hoping that my midwife will (she won't) offer me a sweep today. I got an early sweep with dd but it didn't work.

At least today I can get some dates in. I think this is the appointment where they discuss induction dates and book in for a sweep etc. I don't know what my trust's date is for induction. I don't really want one but at least it gives me a date to aim for that things will be put in progress.

I'd go walking and all that nonsense to get things going but it's too hot.

Do you reckon that the fact I've still got work to finish (and am struggling so badly to concentrate on) is holding baby back? Like psychologically they won't come till everything is "done"?

mynameisntLinda · 21/06/2017 07:45

@catrash nope they all interfere with absorbtion. Dr suggested trying to not take any heartburn relief for at least an hour after my iron...but then also said to have it first thing and last thing. So then im trying to get tonsleep before the heartburn kocks in so at least im asleep. It coukd be the orange juice giving me heartburn though.orange has never agreed with me so could be that.

@glitterglitters how far are you now? I had a sweep at 40 but induction was never discussed. Just remember you dont have to be induced just because youre "over due". There is a fb group called something like 10month mamas and its filled with loads that go past 42 weeks and have normal deliveries. I dread induction so im hoping growth scan is ok on monday. Of course if youre totaly fed up and dont mind induction then it might be nice to have dates in mind.

Mawita · 21/06/2017 07:48

@catrash your poor feet! Mine were like that 3 days ago I could barely lift my legs they felt soooo heavy! Then got stuck at Blackfriars as my boat had to stop early and there was no district line I was so tired I decided to wait 40 minutes for the next one as I couldn't bear walking, the last boat never came. Luckily I met a girl whom I can only describe as an angel who proposed we shared a cab home and then Decidedshewould pay for it. To top it all off she had cold water in her backpack! I wanted to cry, hug her was so grateful.

When I got home a Bucket with ice and warm water and a massage from bf helped. Also slept mostly on my left side and put them up on my yoga ball before bed. They were back to a maneageable size Yesterday.

@butterflyfree so sorry to hear about hubby having to fly off, can only imagine how you feel. I hope there is a loophole he can jump through and be back for u. I think me and you might be at C&W around the same time will keep an eye out for those eyebrows.

I did a further update of my nursery this weekend had a couple of friends come over and draw a mural. I am pretty happy with the results!

Now just need the actual baby items like nappies and creams and stuff.

Is anyone else planning or done a baby shower? I've made an Amazon wish list but it's a bit short of items any must have recommendations anyone?

My last day at work this week then a few days next week and I am free to sloth away. I am so ready for it! Xxx

glitterglitters · 21/06/2017 07:50

@mynameisntLinda is definitely be fed up at that point. The actual induction itself I can deal with it's the whole hospital, making dh leave type nonsense that I want to avoid.

I've expressed if I do have to be induced I want to go to a neighbouring hospital as they let dh/dps stay with you through the process. It's just childcare being the issue but I'm certain my fil would be happy to watch dd and take holiday to do so.

I also have major reservations about the poking and prodding involved post birth in a busy hospital. Lot of box ticking and people being forced to supplement formula because of low blood sugars etc when they wouldn't have been checked for a few days otherwise. I'd be pretty confident at holding my own but not sure how I'd feel post partum if it had been a long process etc.
