5th thread!

Going by the pace of ‘Thread #4’, this could the last one as we might all have our babies by the time it runs out. Unless we all give detailed commentary during labour Grin.

Isn't it m&s that you get whatever's in your trolley for free?! Still don't think it's worth the embarrassment!

glitterglitters · 11/06/2017 23:32

Asda I heard lol

ButterflyFree · 11/06/2017 23:58

Meanwhile if you give birth in Harrods (yes it actually has happened on more than one occasion...!) you get a Harrods baby hamper full of goodies worth £5000, plus a Harrods Rewards card loaded with I think £1000 store credit. I used to work there, and this was always a 'fascinating fact' trotted out in the induction session... I'm thinking of a tactical labour especially as it's just down the road from my designated hospital 😂

I've really been struggling today... Energy levels are zilch, and whilst the leg cramps seem to subside each day a few hours after waking up, the fanny daggers today have been relentless and far more intense than ever before. I didn't sleep till around 9am, so DH and my mum decided to let me sleep until early afternoon but I was so upset because it meant I woke up late for my cousin @mcnics baby shower. I was still determined to go but DH and my mum both strongly advised against it as a round trip of me driving from London to Brighton and back in the same day probably wouldn't have been wise. So disappointed to miss it but ultimately it was the right decision, I definitely wouldn't have been up to the driving today 😢 could barely get up off the sofa!

glitterglitters · 12/06/2017 06:59

@ButterflyFree OMG need to get my butt to Knightsbridge. I've been dreaming of lunch at the Terrace Bar for so long (it's the happiest place on earth to me, sod Disney!)

I hope you're feeling better though. London to Brighton is no mean feat and there's not a lot of places to stop either. It was def the right thing to do. Just take it really easy.

You're potentially going to find now that your head says "yes!" And your body says "nope" and as frustrating as it is, your body is right. Even postpartum you need to rest loads or your body goes mental.

I was in agony last night. I think I must be in latent labour or some crap. I tried sleeping on the floor and in a chair but nothing worked. And when I finally got to sleep the toddler woke up for the first time in agessssssss. Hmm

bluebird1235 · 12/06/2017 08:47

When my waters went there was so much volume that here definitely isn't a pad in the world that would have contained it. Even my socks were wet and so sudden I literally had time to take two paces into the bathroom to save my carpet!! I can't imagine how embarrassing it must be for it to go in public! though I'm sure I heard somewhere that it's relatively uncommon for your waters to be the first sign of labour?!

I also read somewhere about some homemade frozen pads you can make by pouring some soothing liquid into a pad and putting in the freezer. Sounds pretty good!

I live in Cornwall . I'm probably biased but it's definitely the best place for a relaxing break. Apparently lots of people accidentally give birth down here in the summer when they've come for a last minute get away and baby decides to make an early appearance!

@Kitsandkids - I hope all is going better now. I feel your pain with the lack of weight gain and jaundice. I hope baby is looking better today.

glitterglitters · 12/06/2017 08:51

@bluebird1235 I think it's only about 15-20% that break outside of hospital.

And yes, there's definitely no mistaking your waters. They are very messy and lots of them.

Twixes · 12/06/2017 09:24

Hi girls, just catching up on all the chat now.

Sounds like a lot of us are suffering with pelvic pain, it really is one of the hardest parts of the last trimester :(

Had another scan last Friday and because I've developed polyhyrdaminos I now need to get the GTT done on Wednesday. Such a nuisance. I had it last time and you should've seen my waters when they went...it was like Niagara Falls!!!! They kept gushing and gushing and gushing, my consultant had to go and change her clothes! well it was her own doing...she gave me a nasty sweep that broke them.

I know I had excess amniotic fluid last time and DS is perfect but it's hard not to be slightly concerned about it. Going to try to ease off on the sugar if I can but I know that's going to be hard as I'm absolutely knackered and it's about the only thing keeping me going.

I ate strawberries after dinner last night which was a big mistake, my reflux was off the charts. It was so bad I had to make myself sick, oh woe is me...I hate the last few weeks of pregnancy! I'm in work until 8.30 tonight and it's going to kill me, dreading this day ahead.

Algebraic · 12/06/2017 11:01

Apologies as this is purely a moan post Grin. Feel like I had every symptom going last night! Started getting a tingling and burning left hand right before bed (googled and apparently very common) felt like I had dipped my hand in chilli peppers. The worst restless legs I've ever had, covers were flying everywhere. Pelvic pain, hot, hip pain.... DH informs me I have started snoring like a wilder beast so he woke me twice last night to get me to stop. I do feel bad I am keeping him awake what with him starting a new job today, but I also did point out I have put up with his night time noises for 7 years so can I just be allowed to snore for the next 5 weeks! Feeling very emotional and tired today Sad

Hope you all had a more restful night than I did!

glitterglitters · 12/06/2017 12:10

Ohhh we all sound like right so and so's. I feel bad everybody feels rough but secretly pleased it's not just me. Blush

I've had to ship off the toddler this morning to her grandad's for an emergency play date. I was so close to crying over her megabloks I was so tired. I really am trying to work out how to get through the next few weeks. I keep arguing that at least with a newborn dh will be home helping me out for about four weeks. Confused

Notyetthere · 12/06/2017 13:54

Yes we a mourny lot. lol. But it is needed. We are all at that point; the final stretch to the finishing line and like a marathon, we are in the last few miles when everything is pushed to the limit with fanny daggers thrown in! Grin

glitterglitters · 12/06/2017 14:09

Lol. Let's lighten the mood a bit!

First thing you can't wait to do when you're not pregnant?

Thing you'll miss most about being pregnant?

I want to eat a huge rare steak.

I'll miss getting away with murder and making dh do all my bidding. Muhahaha!

Algebraic · 12/06/2017 14:32

Cannot wait to have a glass of champagne Grin we have a bottle waiting.

I will miss being waited on hand and foot haha.

Twixes · 12/06/2017 15:10

First thing you can't wait to do when you're not pregnant?
Drink a big glass (or two) of white wine, drink coffee without getting horrendous reflux, take ibuprofen for my back

Ok that's three things...I cheated!

Thing you'll miss most about being pregnant?
The (mostly) undisturbed sleep. DS (19 months old) has been a great sleeper since 5.5 months and I dread the night feeds, those first few weeks are hard!!!

Spindelina · 12/06/2017 15:32

Looking forward to walking up the hill to my house without getting out of breath. I am so unfit.

I'll miss living in jersey dresses - I feel much less self conscious about showing off my pregnant lumps and bumps than my non pregnant ones!

glitterglitters · 12/06/2017 15:51

Ohhh wine ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

glitterglitters · 12/06/2017 15:54

I'm having horrendous bh again and been really sick and windy the last three hours (sorry tmi!)

Just having a bath with a lush bubble bar in (geranium oil, lemon and rose oil can all apparently regulate contractions). I'll see how that goes!

Also @ButterflyFree spookily had a parcel arrive today from Harrods! It was for dd and it was a Harrods Westie from my brother for her birthday. Talk about a coincidence!

nat2311 · 12/06/2017 16:08

Looking forward to wine and laying comfortably!

Will miss getting away with so much!

Also having some serious bh - I've done some
Serious walking today in Cornwall and hoping it's down to that but they just seem a bit more 'real' if that makes sense!

ButterflyFree · 12/06/2017 16:45

First thing you can't wait to do when you're not pregnant?
Sleep on my front and back!!!

Thing you'll miss most about being pregnant?
DH running around to bring me every craving 😁 although that was more relevant in the first two trimesters... Lately haven't had much of an appetite and he's been the one forcing me to eat throughout the day.

@glitterglitters it's a sign! Harrods babies on the way! I'm going there tonight for eyebrow threading actually... Haven't had any BH at all yet but if I start getting contractions this evening I will NOT be leaving the store in a hurry 😂

nat2311 · 12/06/2017 16:50

Is there a harrods in Cornwall? Maybe I should head there just in case 😂😂

SewingBeatsHousework · 12/06/2017 16:54

Well I'm up at maternity after wiping a teeny bit of pink blood (34+1) they wanted to check just incase it was waters leaking but positive it isn't and no bleeding/water since.

Think I've panicked midwives with my contractions though! One got up to the top of the graph wee monkey... The joys or irritable uterus. Waiting on internal but I fully expect to be sent home straight after.

Post pregnancy I'm most looking forward to front sleeping, hopefully some backache relief & saying goodbye to heartburn!

July 2017 #5 - Third Trimester is Here!
mynameisntLinda · 12/06/2017 17:46

Hmm first thing I can't wait to do.. I'm not sure. Can't think of anything. That either makes me boring or pessamistic. Won't be sleeping on my front if my giant hard boobs reappear and I won't be drinking because I intend on bf and cosleeping (plus I love 0% kopperberg and becks blue and genuinely think I could live with these 2 forever)

And I'm also not sure I'll miss anything about being pregnant, bit sad I won't be doing it again as I think 2 is enough for us. Unless I decide to be a surrogate.

Mentioned it in the fb grouo but Had mw appointment today and have to go for growth scan tomorrow. Hopefully all's well and just precautionary though so will see what happens as I'm not a great believer in them generally.
Mw today wasn't impressed that the previous midwife didn't tell me to speak to gp about the breathlessness and heart palpitations and suggested I should have my heart checked if I have any more probs. Also not impressed at her guessing my weight or ticking that I was taking vitamins when I said I wasn't or her negativity towards "still" wanting a homebirth which is how she worded it in the notes.
Mw and the student mw are going to home visit on the 24th. Not really sure why but I don't mind, they're both lovely. Still not heard from a hv and prob won't until after birth like last time now.

glitterglitters · 12/06/2017 17:47

Oh bless the little monkey @SewingBeatsHousework hope you're in and out nice and quick.

Dh had offered to drive me to Knightsbridge to see if I can get the freebies. Definitely think it's a sign though.

I'm sat eating Peppa Pig birthday cake and taking deep intakes of breath. I had a bath but it didn't do much. I'm not 100% but looking promising. Just going to try and get the toddler settled in bed, sit on my ball and watch funny stuff on TV to get the OxyContin going if it is "it".

glitterglitters · 12/06/2017 17:50

@mynameisntLinda she sounds like right cow Angry

I have probably had about 3 drinks in the last 2 years 8 months. We ended up cosleeping a lot too. Made life so much easier.

Hopefully all will be well.

I'm not taking any vitamins either and one midwife made me do a CO2 test to make sure I wasn't "sneaking ciggies" Angry then took my pulse straight after and said "oooh it ain't half racing". Yes I just held my breath and blew for 20 seconds, what do you reckon?

Lallypopstick · 12/06/2017 19:10

I'm looking forward to steak and a gin and tonic after I've had the baby.

I'll miss the attention - having a bump completely changes how people treat you. And I'll miss feeling the baby moving inside me. It'll be weird to share him / her with other people!

mynameisntLinda · 12/06/2017 19:27

Yeah glitters she was a bit of a misery guts. Sneaking ciggies lol. No one ever checked mine...ehich makes me think you could easily lie and say you're a non smoker even if you were.

lally yes I'll mis the wiggling I think. I don't like the attention thiugh and it's well known amount our lot not to go stroking me haha
