5th thread!

Going by the pace of ‘Thread #4’, this could the last one as we might all have our babies by the time it runs out. Unless we all give detailed commentary during labour Grin.

I feel bad for it but I am looking forward to a sneaky fag after the baby probably with a glass of wine. I used to smoke 20 a day before so in my eyes one when I have a drink will be ok. Won't be able to afford any more than that anyway!

I just don't like the way some mw's try and catch you out just feel like you're being judged and accused of lying!

Am also looking forward to a medium rare steak! Having it well done isn't worth it!

bluebird1235 · 13/06/2017 05:52

I had the carbon monoxide test too and flat out asked the midwife why - I said is that just to check that I'm telling the truth about not smoking. She laughed and said no. Apparently you can also tell some really important things. It can pick up if you have a faulty boiler or log burner with a damaged flue that isn't venting properly (both a risk in my house!). So not just for checking if you have a cheeky fag! Though I expect they probably find more people who smoke than have a faulty boiler!

I was looking forward to sleeping on my front but my newly giant boobs have mostly stopped it, though it has got a bit better! I definitely miss having them in my belly and feeling all their movements but I think it's worse because of the separation. I also miss not caring about the size of my stomach!!

glitterglitters · 13/06/2017 06:51

Sleeping on your front is something that definitely takes a little longer than expected.

The midwife I had is normally based in a poor area and they have all sorts of quit smoking schemes. I think it was more force of habit than accusing me or anything but it made me feel like a naughty school kid.

I've been up all night with what I can only describe as false Labour. I'm in agony, all my muscles are screaming out in agony but they aren't progressing now. All I want to do is sleep but the toddler woke up at 6am. So feeling quite sorry for myself. I should just be glad she slept through though.

Cannot wait for the baby to get here and be able to share the tiredness around more. Grin

LuciBee231015 · 13/06/2017 08:11

Woke up at about 4am this morning with a period belly ache. Was quite bad, it had a peak in the middle and everything. Lasted about a minute to a minute and a half and then faded. I was waiting for another one but that was it!

Maybe it was a practice one!

Twixes · 13/06/2017 08:17

Oh glitters that sounds like an awful night! are you in work today? can you get a nap in at all?

glitterglitters · 13/06/2017 11:28

Thankfully I'm self employed from home! My father in law took my dd this morning and did her breakfast and baked with her at his house. Managed to get a couple of hours in and dh has come home from work early so added bonus.

My friend had a baby in the night and they are gorgeous. Made me really excited for this one to arrive ... whenever they do lol.

CatRash · 13/06/2017 12:50

Oooh it sounds like a couple of you are getting close!!! How exciting!! I'm not due till the end of July so ages away for me yet!!!

Been feeling off for a few days now, headaches, nausea, shoulder pain etc. so decided to give the doctors a ring about getting blood pressure checked. Went along to doctors and lo and behold blood pressure was high (when I'm usually consistently very low) and had 1+ protein in the urine. Doctor sent me off to the maternity hospital with a referral letter after she phoned them.

Got to the hospital, about an hour after being at the doctors, monitored blood pressure which had returned to normal and not even a trace of protein in my urine!!

Wtf!? Very glad whatever was effecting me an hour before had miraculously cleared up but all rather odd!!

Came down with a cold last night and feel like death so guessing that's the real reason I've been feeling off!!! Bleugh! Really wish I could have a strepsil or something right now!!

glitterglitters · 13/06/2017 16:54

Midwife text me back saying to hold fire and wait till I'm getting regular "painful" contractions or my waters go. Which makes sense and is what I would have probably thought to do but my god..... so uncomfortable. She also said "your body is definitely preparing for labour" which in my tired, grumpy state of mind made me feel like "no shit Sherlock".

My friend thinks I'm daft and should go and get checked out because it's "free" Hmm

Needless to say I won't be wasting the NHS with this at this point.

glitterglitters · 13/06/2017 16:55

Gosh @CatRash that sounds like a right nightmare. I had that with my urine a few weeks ago +2 glucose and then blood test a few hours later it was totally normal.

You can take halls and lockets if you're pregnant btw. I know you can have tyrozets when breastfeeding for a sore throat but not sure with pregnancy. Hope you feel better soon!!

LuciBee231015 · 13/06/2017 18:35

Glitters, are you still getting your pains? I've had nothing all day. Think I was just wishful thinking that baby would come early. I'm 38+4 today.

Spindelina · 13/06/2017 18:40

36 weeks today, and had my last planned growth scan. Measuring a bit small, but within the lines so everyone's happy. Midwife tomorrow - will be doing my birth preferences.

glitterglitters · 13/06/2017 19:47

@LuciBee231015 a bit. I had some horrific fanny daggers earlier but midwife has said to hang fire until "proper"contractions or my waters go. I'm currently sat on my ball with a pad on because I'm getting a "trickling" sensation but I'm damned if I'm going in for a false start.

It's been less painful today but something is definitely going on. But how long it'll take, god only knows.

So frustrating as I'm trying to compare it with dd's birth and I've a) glossed it over and b) had totally different sensations/feelings symptoms but I can't brush these off! I'm getting pressure like I had when I was in labour but then no pain like I had prior to going in with her though.

CatRash · 13/06/2017 20:39

Thanks @Glitterglitters I had no idea you could have Halls or Soothers!!! I know what I'm getting tomorrow!! Good to hear that you've had the whole disappearing protein in your urine too - I was thinking the doctor had got it wrong!

How are the contractions now? Any more regular or painful?

glitterglitters · 13/06/2017 20:49

No. Just sporadic and painful. Bloody pita!!

LuciBee231015 · 13/06/2017 21:46

Glitters how many weeks are you? Fingers crossed it gets going soon!

I'm also on my ball lol

glitterglitters · 13/06/2017 22:54

I'm only 37+1 so still quite early in the window. It's still uncomfortable but not painful for now.

Just had s big old cry to dh. Feel so silly and I know how lucky I am but I just want to be able to get comfortable and know what my body is doing. Just feel v out of control right now which I hate.

glitterglitters · 14/06/2017 08:30

@Algebraic have you heard anything from your LL yet?

Mawita · 14/06/2017 09:40

@glitterglitters don't despair it will all be worth it. Practice some breathing and demand some massages, concentrate on the positives. Fingers crossed for you. Flowers

Mawita · 14/06/2017 09:43

To answer the questions earlier in the thread. I am most looking forward to a cider on a beer garden. With a picnic of Brie, blue cheese and all other sugary forbidden foods including a Banana Split.

I will miss feeling him move around and waking up to his kicks. Also I have been truly spoilt by family and other half, so will miss that.

Algebraic · 14/06/2017 09:51

Ha @glitterglitters the impatient, tired part of you definitely gets tired of these trotted out phrases that's for sure! I hope you have some progress and you aren't into labour limbo for ages.

No, nothing back from LL since I pointed out the part of the contract where it says that the flat can be occupied by a family unit and that I was in no position to be moving heavily pregnant. I will ready myself with legal advice over the next few weeks as I have a feeling they will serve us our two months notice at the end of the month. Friends and family have been very supportive saying if we did have to move with a one month old they will take time off to come and pack everything up for us and help DH get it down the sodding three flights of stairs.

Got my first fanny dagger on Sunday, took my breath away!

glitterglitters · 14/06/2017 09:51

Thanks @mawita I'm feeling better after a good night's sleep (slept with a wet flannel on my face haha!)

I've had a few painful contractions today, nothing regular but I'm keeping a close eye on it. I was very fortunate with my first that she pretty much fell out, so I'm hoping all the hard graft is currently going on and I can have a repeat performance with this one.

I would normally not be the one advocating trying to "speed things up" but I think when DH gets home a long walk, a takeaway curry and an early night might be on the cards if only to placate me haha.

I'm currently listening to some of my favourite music in an attempt to get the oxytocin going lol. If you hear someone caterwauling along to The Cure or The Smiths, that's me (typical my favourite music is all miserable stuff haha!)

glitterglitters · 14/06/2017 09:53

That sounds positive @algebraic I think they really shot themselves in the foot there.

Oh the fanny daggers, nobody tells you about them. I managed to get through labour without screaming/cryinh last time. Fanny daggers though... had me screaming out the big bad C word at random times. They are truly are a force of their own!

TinklingTheIvories · 15/06/2017 10:25

34+4 today. Been for another growth scan. Baby now estimated to be 7lb6!! Oh dear. Different consultant today who seemed more clued up. Talked through options. Looking like I'll be induced at 39 then play the waiting game. If baby comes naturally after alls good, if not at 39+5 I'll have a c section. Not plan A by any stretch but it's a plan and it'll work. Just gotta get my head around to the new plan and make sure everything's good to go for when I need it - pulling everything forward by a week.

glitterglitters · 15/06/2017 15:18

So today I can add to my list of "somewhat inappropriate but have to laugh" situations the ladies working in Greggs telling me I look "ready to drop" and to head home and get my oh to "give you a right good seeing to and that baby will soon fall outta ya" GrinGrin

I love my city.

Algebraic · 15/06/2017 16:07

Oh my god haha GrinGrin I do not know what I'd do if a stranger told me to go and get rogered. That's excellent.
