5th thread!

Going by the pace of ‘Thread #4’, this could the last one as we might all have our babies by the time it runs out. Unless we all give detailed commentary during labour Grin.

Wow @glitterglitters she sounds very in tune! I wonder if the agitation is a primal urge to find somewhere safe and quiet? It's all so interesting.

Saw midwife yesterday and my glucose levels were elevated. They never have been before so she said could be a one off and I'll have to see if they are raised again at 36w appointment.

DH starts new job next week and the training is in the next city over, only 15 mins on train but I'm already planning how to get myself to hospital incase he can't get back! He's got 3 weeks there so when he's finished I'll be 37+2. All should be fine I'm sure...

glitterglitters · 06/06/2017 09:46

When I did NCT the lady taking us was also a doula. She said she was talking about Cath Kidston fabrics with one of her mums
one minute and the next the woman was snarling behind a bin and peed on the floor Shock. Apparently that transition phase can make people go a bit feral Confused

She's definitely old school this midwife. I'm not sure how much I read into it (she's he one that questioned the gender).

Feeling a bit more normal today so think labour is still (thankfully) a little way off.

Did you have any big meals/sugary drinks before you did your sample? I would always get caught out by roast dinners and high carb meals.

I know what you mean about planning. Dh works on ships (docked ships but in the sea none the less), so he can be out of communication for a while. If I need him when he's at work someone has to go and fetch him from the engines Confused. Thankfully his dad works in the yard too so I can phone a few people to go get him.

Algebraic · 06/06/2017 10:53

Oh my! @glitterglitters that did make me chuckle. I hope I don't feel the urge to urinate behind any bins.

I'd had a bowl of cereal in the morning and a coffee with unsweetened almond milk. The cereal was multigrain so a bit of sugar but it wasn't Frosties or anything like that Grin did have a massive roast dinner on Sunday though, could that still affect my levels the next day?

I'm measuring 34 at 34w so I haven't suddenly jumped up in my measurements so I do hope it was an anomaly. I'm really not up for cutting down on carbs or treats, they are the few pleasures I have left!

glitterglitters · 06/06/2017 11:00

I reckon it's probably the roast. It always coincided with a roast with me. Fingers crossed it'll be just an anomaly. I had a +2 a few weeks ago and it was because dh was away and I ate a whole tube of Pringles and two ice creams the night before Confused

I'm ensuring 37cm at 36 weeks. Apparently still a little bit big but slowing down now. Midwife said she reckons they will be "tall and skinny"

She really does have a lot of ideas haha! Have to wait and see. I'm just waiting to see if they're as blonde and blue eyed as their sister or olive skinned and brown eyed like me Smile

glitterglitters · 06/06/2017 14:09

I'm hiding again. Dh got the afternoon off so I took the laptop to do "work" and lounging on our bed whilst he amuses the toddler. Yasss

Twixes · 06/06/2017 14:19

The congrats kits! Great birth story, sounds like it went really well for you. She's a little beauty.

All good here, but my groin/spd is definitely getting worse and my under bump jeans are sooooo uncomfortable. I left work early and will be putting on my massive leggings as soon as I'm home...had to get a cheeky McDonald's en route though! Blush Man am I going to regret all the crap I've eaten after I have this little lady!

Our house is finally starting to look ok, we got all the bags out of the little lady's room and it's now spotless. Will get the crib off my mum in the next few days and then we're nearly sorted!

I have plans to paint an old cheat of drawers but i might just supervise dh doing it Grin

SewingBeatsHousework · 06/06/2017 14:22

Excuse my wash basket but does it look like I've 'dropped' in the bottom photo? Top one was taken yesterday, bottom one today. 33+2 but I heard 3rd babies can engage early then 'unengage'?

Probably just the way baby is lying but I did a double take when saw it in mirror!

glitterglitters · 06/06/2017 14:26

Yep I'd say so @SewingBeatsHousework they can pop in and out when it's your second plus. So when you're at the midwife and they write down 2/5 or whatever it's mainly to fill a box Grin

mynameisntLinda · 06/06/2017 15:17

Yeah sewing Although I've been told to ignore any talk of engaging etc especially with it being baby number 2. Apparently they can be a lot more last minute when it comes to settling in.lol

DancingRabbitFeet · 06/06/2017 15:38

Ach well too early for him to come just now anyway, pretty sure he's weighing in at 7lb already though 😂

SewingBeatsHousework · 06/06/2017 15:40

Forgot to switch my username back ^^ 😳

glitterglitters · 06/06/2017 15:44

lol don't worry! I've done it a million times 🙊

Twixes · 06/06/2017 15:48

It does look like you've dropped!

SewingBeatsHousework · 06/06/2017 16:08

It would explain me needing to empty my bladder every 30 minutes! Not seeing midwife for another week so I'd imagine head will be free again by then 😁

Notyetthere · 06/06/2017 18:27

Today is my last day in the office. I will continue to work from home till next week Friday before maternity leave starts. Work gave me a bottle of champagne, Next vouchers and a massive card. It was so sweet of them having done a whip round.

Twixes For the same reason I had to stop the commute as the Spd has been making it a challenge. I will log in from home sat on the ball as it seems to give a good posture and takes away the pelvic discomfort.

Dh and I went to the 2nd antenatal class yesterday evening in the middle of a storm. We thought we could leg it to the entrance from the car but I learnt the hard way that I can not actually run anymore! How did that happen? I run for the train more like trotted along the platform to another carriage a few weeks ago so I thought I still had that left in me; nope it's all gone. What else am I going to discover that I can't do? Don't get me started on giving the lady garden a trimGrin

glitterglitters · 06/06/2017 18:31

@Notyetthere I just bought a ladyshaver to tackle that job. Took me over an hour and a halfHmm

Obviously needed to share this tmi info

Notyetthere · 06/06/2017 20:01

Glitter an hour!? I would have given up by 15mins. Might try that sensitive bikini shaving cream.

OP posts:
ButterflyFree · 06/06/2017 20:10

@glitterglitters @Notyetthere 😂😂😂 made me laugh. I had full body laser hair removal (best thing EVER) but the latter stages of pregnancy seem to have sent my hormones into extra overdrive so I've started sprouting some sort of downy fur recently... Last night's attempted topiary session was the first time I really noticed a struggle as bump got in the way 😅 think I'll be booking in for a wax next time instead lol.

Congratulations @Notyetthere on your last day in the office - must be a big relief to know you won't have to negotiate that commute anymore! 🎉

ButterflyFree · 06/06/2017 20:11

🙄 sorry about the emboldened overload... the MN app needs an update I think!

Twixes · 06/06/2017 20:35

Full body laser hair removal-- I am so jealous butterfly!!! I've had my forearms and nape of neck done and have had amazing success. Only a couple of random hairs left, I used to be quite the hairy Mary. I actually noticed Ariana Grande has the same fuzz on the nape of her neck...interesting to see she hasn't lasered it off.

As for bikini line, for DS I decided to shave at about 39 weeks and i thought I'd done a great job til I saw what it was like after I'd given birth. The state of me!! Zigzags all over the place. This time I might get my husband to do it...

That's so funny re running Not, I'm well and truly in the slow waddle camp now.

Speaking of driving, I was supposed to be driving 440km tomorrow (220km each way) but my husband has decided he's taking the day off work and being my chauffeur. Probably for the best seeing that I'm permanently exhausted these days. Bit of a mess re childcare for our toddler but grannies are both chipping in on taking him there in the morning and the other collecting, giving dinner and putting to bed. Bloody work! Only two more weeks exactly til I'm finished...!

Twixes · 06/06/2017 20:36

What a lovely send off Not, such thoughtful gifts!

nat2311 · 06/06/2017 21:00

@ButterflyFree laser removal sounds like a dream I'm also very jealous!

I'm in the removal cream club definitely easier than attempting to shave!

@Notyetthere Glad you haven't got to tackle
the commute anymore!

I finished work last Friday and feeling accomplished that I can see the bottom of the washing bin for the first time in ages - even though it's only the two of us I've always been terrible at keeping on top of it!

Mawita · 06/06/2017 21:47

Hi all!

@kits congrats on the beautiful baby girl! And thanks for the birth story it is real and raw. Definitely prepares us for what's coming!

@not I gave up of fast moving weeks ago not waddling yet but I am super out of breath!

I managed a last minute escape in the end I am currently in Sardinia! It's lovely and sunny.

Had diabetes consultant and growth scan last week thy are happy with the growth of the baby not too big. :)

Sleeping is a challenge loads of different size pillows and controlled water drinking, yoga and swimming help,

I bought a belly support belt which helps the tiredeness of commuting I still have 4?weeks left at work. ;(

I had a dream last night that my baby was born but he was African ( I am Colombian and thecdad is Irish) with a full head of hair I was so happy i didn't have to go to work!!! Also was worried as I had no hospital bag and no clothes for the baby.... he was super cute though!

Weird dream huh!!

Spindelina · 06/06/2017 22:03

I'm still cycling to work, which surprises me somewhat! I've started taking a longer way round to avoid a hill on the way there, and I've got off and pushed up the hill on the way back, but still doing the rest! I know that if I stop for more than a weekend, I'll never start again though.

I've got 4.5 weeks left at work, but this week is being a bit of a struggle so I think I might take a day off next week to get stuff done (painting shelves at the moment) instead of doing it in the evenings.

mynameisntLinda · 07/06/2017 07:11

Bravo on the cycling spindella I can't do it not pregnant haha.
