5th thread!

Going by the pace of ‘Thread #4’, this could the last one as we might all have our babies by the time it runs out. Unless we all give detailed commentary during labour Grin.

Glad your brother is fine @Algebraic 💐

You're right @mynameisntLinda unfortunately there have always been awful things happening to innocent people - this morning my mum's been telling DH and I about all the IRA bombings that were going on while she was working & living in central London and pregnant with me - but I think the 24hr news coverage, social media etc that we have nowadays is what heightens the awareness and the fear even more.

I suppose every mother-to-be throughout history has faced the 'why am I bringing my baby into this cruel world' dilemma.

Algebraic · 04/06/2017 14:36

Yes definitely. Our instant news can make things feel so much worse.

glitterglitters · 04/06/2017 18:58

How is going @Kitsandkids xxxx

mynameisntLinda · 04/06/2017 18:59

I remember the bombing of the arndale being in the news and I was only about 5 or 6 (I only know because so googled the year it happened). Which has often made me wonder how much kids take in from tv at a young age.
2r hour news and social media defo spreads news faster these days

wildone81 · 05/06/2017 02:59

Anyone else starting to think they'll never get a decent sleep ever again?! I drift off, then wake up needing to pee, and that repeats for a couple of hours, and then I can't hear anything but husband breathing/snoring like a fecking train, and then I can't get comfy to drift back off, and then I need to pee again..... AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

Kitsandkids · 05/06/2017 04:14

Ta da!

I hope the picture attachment has worked! My baby girl, born today at 8pm. Currently snuggled in her hospital cot beside me.

She's so tiny and perfect! I'm very lucky xx

rhodes2015 · 05/06/2017 06:02

Arrrgghh kits congratulations she's beautiful!!!! Well done!! How are you feeling?? X

LuciBee231015 · 05/06/2017 06:59

Congratulations kits!!! She's absolutely beautiful! Did the contractions all kick off then?

CatRash · 05/06/2017 07:37

Congratulations Kits!!! Beautiful little girl! Well done Mum!!

glitterglitters · 05/06/2017 07:57

Awwwww!!!! She's beautiful! Congratulations to you all. SmileFlowersStar

Kitsandkids · 05/06/2017 08:28

I passed a bit of a blood clot so they put me on a trace monitor to check baby's heartbeat. It was mainly fine but every 20 minutes or so would dip which they said was fine if in labour but not otherwise. Then they examined me and said I was 3cm dilated anyway so they decided to give me a drip to speed up the contractions.

I'm not going to lie, parts of labour were bloody painful but I got through it! I only had gas and air, which made me really space out and have some vivid daydreams! My body kept trying to push as they said the head was right down, so there were a few times I was worried I was going to rupture something as my body took over and I couldn't help pushing!

I was so pleased when they said I was fully dilated and actually could push properly! It took about 3 contractions with a few big pushes during each of them (and that was hard and I did tear) and then she came out with a whoosh! Then suddenly pretty much all the pain, contractions etc stopped and I felt fine!

I was all geared up to refuse the injection to make the placenta pass quickly but when it came to it I was happy for it all to be finished. And that is a weird sensation when that's pulled out of you!

So all in all a difficult, painful experience but manageable. And the end result is definitely worth it! Smile

glitterglitters · 05/06/2017 08:40

Awww @Kitsandkids you sound like a trooper! It's such an overwhelming urge to push. Hope you're not too sore and you're enjoying the first 24 hours with your new baby girl. Are you looking likely to head home soon? X

rhodes2015 · 05/06/2017 08:56

Fantastic kits thanks for sharing your experience, it's made me feel a bit less anxious!! X

nat2311 · 05/06/2017 09:02

@Kitsandkids congratulations!!! Lovely news to
Wake up to this morning! Glad you're doing well!

Algebraic · 05/06/2017 09:23

Congrats @Kitsandkids ! She is divine. Well done and thanks for sharing your experience. Impressed with your powerful pushing skills

Spindelina · 05/06/2017 09:40

Congratulations, Kits!

mynameisntLinda · 05/06/2017 10:15

@Wildone81 yes i'm with you on the no sleep, regardless of a toddler that lacks sleep i was up at 5 this morning before everyone else. Needed a wee, couldn't get comfy, dog barking outside, birds singing too loud, toddler wanted to get up then alarm went off for work eurgh!

@Kitsandkids Yay congrats! lovely photo!!

glitterglitters · 05/06/2017 10:32

@mynameisntLinda I've definitely noticed the birds have got obnoxiously louder in the mornings lately!

Flappergirl86 · 05/06/2017 11:11

Congratulations kits she's perfect! X

Kitsandkids · 05/06/2017 11:51

Thanks everyone Smile

Looking like we'll be in until Wednesday as she was started on antibiotics, due to the waters being gone before she was born, yesterday and it's a 48 hour course. But she was put on it in the evening so I'm guessing they won't release us until Wednesday.

I feel bad that i don't have many correct sized clothes for her, but I got 'Newborn' as I thought that would be the size for a full term baby! I wasn't prepared for her to make such an early arrival! Ha ha! Never mind, it's so hot in here anyway she's currently having a cuddle from daddy wearing a nappy and wrapped in a sheet.

ButterflyFree · 05/06/2017 12:18

Congratulations @Kitsandkids she's absolutely beautiful. What a little doll 🎀

mynameisntLinda · 05/06/2017 12:50

haha glitters obnoxiously louder Grin

Just had a look at the due December thread (as I was finding it for my friend) and they're on thread 6 already! we must be a quiet bunch lol. (i think my old group got to thread 13 when the babies were appearing and then we all switched to facebook)

glitterglitters · 05/06/2017 13:13

@mynameisntLinda lol I reckon it's because we are all so busy and important GrinGrinGrin

Plus there's a lot of second time + mums which often nips a lot of "what am I doing? What is this? Omg!" stuff in the bud.

I certainly have a lot less questions this time round. Makes it a lot more relaxed and less posting for sure Smile

Notyetthere · 05/06/2017 14:20

Congratulations Kits. She is gorgeous and perfect!

Off to drink that rasberry leaf tea and take the primrose oil. I will be 37 weeks on Saturday so I can't wait to meet my little girl.

Obnoxiously louder Grin. My friend who lives in London stayed with me over the weekend and she said something along the same lines. Sunday she was up at 4.30am listening to the birds nesting in the hedge at the bottom of the garden.

Just got back from the midwife. I'm 36 weeks today. She took one look at me and said "hmmmm hopefully not Friday" (dd's birthday).

She then said you could tell I've dropped, asked if I was feeling like I was agitated (yep like a bear in a cage), guessed my plug has gone (30 mins before the appointment) and then when she checked she said I'm 3/5 engaged, bordering on 4/5.

She said she reckons they will be about 8lbs at full term and be tall and slim.

I'm not convinced I'll go any time soon but at least I'm not going mad that my body was acting all weird. I've been pacing today thinking "oooh I don't feel right".

Would prefer if they hung about a week so I can go to the midwife led unit.
