5th thread!

Going by the pace of ‘Thread #4’, this could the last one as we might all have our babies by the time it runs out. Unless we all give detailed commentary during labour Grin.

@ButterflyFree don't feel bad! I'm very conscious of mine and sometimes wish I could wear baggier clothes (but have none left that fit). You should wear whatever you feel comfortable in and not let others influence that. Everyone's bumps are different and we all probably feel different about them and your mum should be supporting your choices and not giving you more worries.

Kitsandkids · 31/05/2017 18:43

I am absolutely raging at my husband tonight. I feel like absolute crap, my throat's sore, I keep coughing and my voice is hoarse. Husband took the two kids out earlier to the cinema while I had a nice bath, then they were in the paddling pool while I napped. Yes he has dealt with them all day but a. I'm ill and b. I'm 36 weeks pregnant on Friday so not feeling on top form anyway.

About 40 minutes ago he told me he was going out soon, to his friend's house, which he does almost every Wednesday night. But which I, wrongly, assumed he wouldn't be doing tonight.

I asked him not to, he told me not to make him 'feel bad.' I explained that I couldn't cope with the dog. We've got an almost 9 month old puppy who is very full on and if my husband is not in he wanders about and chews up things he shouldn't. I can normally cope with him but when I feel like crap I can't. Especially as the dog has been in all day without a walk. I asked my husband to at least take the dog with him, he refused, I started to cry (I don't normally but I just couldn't face the idea of a long night in with the dog). Husband angrily told me to grow up and stormed off. 5 minutes later he said he was going and he went out.

He had put the dog in his crate upon leaving and of course the dog immediately started barking. I let the dog out. Dog wandered about between me and the 2 kids who were watching a film, then within 2 minutes he went up to one of them and put his mouth on him. He didn't bite him but the child said 'he bit me!' And looked at me to take action. So I stroppily said 'Fine, I'll spend the evening in the yard with the dog!' And stormed out.

Normally he's happy in the yard with someone out there but now he's growling and barking at the wall towards the neighbours. He stops if I kick a ball for him but I don't want to play football with a dog all night! Bloody husband! If he was here the dog would be calm. He wanted the blinking dog in the first place - I didn't! Aargh! Rant over. Sorry ladies xx

Notyetthere · 31/05/2017 20:08

Kits what a rubbish day you are having. Rant away. I don't know how everyone else is doing it with other young children to look after and in your case a dog too. Hope the dog has calmed down.

DH got cats because he wanted pets but I wasn't keen. Be careful about not resenting the whole thing including your DH like I did. I developed asthma about 3 months after getting the cats. I then found myself with hayfever symptoms at Christmas that never quite left me when autumn started. When we finally worked out that it was the cats, we loved them and they were part of the family and couldn't face getting rid of them. But then the day we came back from our honeymoon in Nov, within 30 mins of being in our house all the allergy symptoms kicked in, itchy eyes and nose, running nose, the works. I found myself resenting the cats but even worse, resented DH for having got them. Once every 3 months I think I mourned about not being welcome in my own home and always dreading coming home knowing I would be ill. Anyway, long story short, DH took heed of my mourns and eventually had the cats adopted by a local farmer. The asthma has practically gone, came back briefly in 2nd trimester but it's gone again. I have enjoyed a winter and spring snivel free. I guess what I'm trying to say, I don't think DH really appreciated how much I resented him for getting the cats in the first place. I dread to think about where our relationship would be now if we still had the cats.

Kitsandkids · 31/05/2017 21:14

I understand the resenting thing notyet. It doesn't help that my husband and the kids really wanted the dog whereas I knew it would be hard work and it's even harder than I thought! The kids were desperate for a dog but some days it only has to look at them and they're whinging at me to get it away from them! And he's so much calmer with my husband in the house. He would have laid down quietly for the last couple of hours if my husband was home but instead he's been circling the living room non stop apart from when I've thrown a toy for him or given him a treat to chew. I've given him a lot of treats tonight, which is probably not good, but it keeps him busy for a while and saves my sanity! He also keeps wanting to go out for a wee when he probably doesn't even need one, he just wants to make me have to get off the sofa! Ha ha. But at least the kids have gone off to bed now so I don't have to worry about the dog breathing on them and annoying them or anything!

We've got cats too, which luckily I'm not allergic to, and I feel sorry for them as they used to spend their evenings on my knee but now mostly keep out of the living room due to the dog being there.

Well, tomorrow is a new day. When my husband gets in from his friend's it's usually past midnight so he sleeps on the sofa so as not to wake me up (though I usually don't really settle until he's in anyway) which means he can deal with the kids when they get up in the morning and I can have a lie in. Every cloud and all that!

iamreginaphalange · 01/06/2017 07:59

@Notyetthere yep same here.... can't get comfortable anymore...
And still 7 weeks to go..

Algebraic · 01/06/2017 08:54

I got my nursing chair last night and it is heaven! I moved it in to the lounge to watch tv as I just can't get comfortable on the sofa. Felt like an old man rocking away with my feet on the footstool but it was really supportive for my back.

Hip pain still waking me in the night but don't know what to do about that!

TinklingTheIvories · 01/06/2017 09:57

Just had a 32 week growth scan. Looking like a big baby they say ... 5lb+ already! Great. Was good to see them again though.

July 2017 #5 - Third Trimester is Here!
glitterglitters · 01/06/2017 10:49

Awwww baby!!!

I've just had a call from my midwife saying my blood sample from seven (7!!!) weeks ago has come up "strange".

She kept asking me how I felt and said I need to have more samples taken on Monday.

Feeling a bit anxious now and she didn't explain it very well Sad

Algebraic · 01/06/2017 11:27

Hello baby Tinkles! What's the plan for you, might they induce you if baby gets too large?

@glitterglitters it could be your iron? They kept asking me how I was feeling and then said about borderline low iron. Why can't they be specific though! They must know how we worry...

Algebraic · 01/06/2017 11:28

(Or baby Tinkling, rather)

Kitsandkids · 01/06/2017 11:36

So they've hung on to your blood sample for 7 weeks ago and only now looked at it? That's a bit lax of them!

Can you remember what that sample was for? If it was your 28 week bloods it would be iron and antibodies I think, so like Algebraic said it might be showing your iron level is a bit low. But if you're feeling generally ok I wouldn't worry too much. I opted not to have that blood test done in the end so my iron levels might be really low for all I know but I'm feeling fine - or was, before this horrid cough!

glitterglitters · 01/06/2017 11:36

@Algebraic turns out it sounds like there was a contamination in a urine sample which is quite common. Though it wasn't explained particularly well.

All my iron, haemoglobin etc are all good though from my notes as another midwife went through these with me last week.

glitterglitters · 01/06/2017 11:37

That's what confused me as I'd had my blood tests sent off but I just remembered I had a urine sample sent off too. Her first question was if I had the baby yet and then how many weeks I was.

TinklingTheIvories · 01/06/2017 12:29

@algebraic - the consultant didn't really say much. He's not very supportive tbh, and I don't feel like I have a lot of confidence in things that he does (he always fills in the wrong paperwork etc) but I'm sure if things went wrong he'd be fine. I've gotta go back in two weeks for another scan to monitor the growth. I guess if it progresses like it is then it may be early. I'll discuss it with the midwives as they seem more clued up on it all!

iamreginaphalange · 01/06/2017 12:45

Had my 32 weeks scan today and all is good. However baby is breech at moment.
I know everyone is different but do any of you have experience with this?
Did baby turn in the end? If not did they try and turn it for you? If so did it work and how did it go? Did you end up have c section?

glitterglitters · 01/06/2017 13:02

My first turned at 36 weeks and I felt it when it happened!

A friend ended up having a csection with a breech baby but because it was planned for it was all very relaxed and calm. She had a really positive experience in fact.

glitterglitters · 01/06/2017 13:03

I know someone else who had the attempted turning of the baby and they said next time they'd just opt straight for the section.

Take a look at a website called spinning babies as it has exercises etc where you can encourage them to turn x

ButterflyFree · 01/06/2017 16:45

I had my 'booking' (!!!😂) appointment at Chelsea & Westminster today (yes, at 31+3!) and it was wonderful; loved the facilities and all the midwives. The lead midwife sat with DH and I for an hour just going through all the medical records, scans, blood test results etc. I brought with me from my doctor in Dubai, as well as compiling a comprehensive medical history for both of us. Gave blood & urine samples, listened to the heartbeat and had my bump measured for the first time. All is looking great, around the 40th centile for growth, and everything is on track for a natural midwife-led birth.

Baby has turned himself around from his lateral transverse position and is now head down, bottom up - ready to slide on out into the world! I definitely think he'll be joining us sooner rather than later, and even the midwife told us to expect him by around 37 weeks judging from her expert eye... so let's see!

glitterglitters · 01/06/2017 17:02

Ooooh all sounds lovely and textbook @ButterflyFree fingers crossed.

I've spoken to a few science types about my midwife call earlier and they've put me at ease. In the Midwife's defence she is lovely but my god she doesn't half put things in a way to scare the shit out of me.

Currently obsessed with San Pellegrino at the moment. We've got through a case of the water and the orange drinks in the last week. Whoops!

ButterflyFree · 01/06/2017 17:42

Thank you @glitterglitters fingers crossed indeed 🤞🏻

Mmmmmmm San Pellegrino 😍 I'm someone who usually never ever ever even touches a fizzy drink, but since arriving in London 10 days ago I've been craving anything sparkling. I've been chugging back the SP water too, and their blood orange drink 🍊 plus 7Up, Coca Cola... I feel bad about the sugar content but after doing so well with my GTT test the other week I guess I'm not too worried about this temporary sugar rush 😅

I've also become addicted to tinned lychees served over ice... Heavenly, especially in this warm weather!

Notyetthere · 01/06/2017 18:38

Regina I gave up on a good night's sleep a long time ago. I woke up 4 times night. Dh had to help me out of bed as I was in stuck on my right side and I could not turn. I then fell asleep at my desk at home halfway through an email to my boss! It is going to be the longest 2 wks of my life till maternity leave starts.

Algebraic I would love to be in a rocking chair right now but alas we don't have enough room for it in the nursery.

Hello Baby Tinkling Aawww.

Butter glad all is well with you.

Glitter don't they half worry you or what! Glad it is nothing to worry about.

I have just come back from my 36wks appointment and it was very interesting albeit slightly worrying. I saw a different midwife today and her fundal measurements were 35cm at 35+5. The thing is that I measured 35.5cm at 34wks so on paper it looks like baby has not grown at all in the last 2wks. Midwife then proceeded to say that her measurements have wildly differed from my usual midwife for several women. She asked me whether my usual midwife uses a paper tape measure. It seemed to be that she was convinced that my usual midwife's measurements are wrong. My measurements have now just about fallen back into the ranges of 90th centile. She took a photo of my notes and graph and is going to compare with the others that she thinks might have the wrong measurements too.

But now I am worried that I have two differing opinions on baby's growth where one is telling me that I have a big baby whose growth slowed down at 34wks and has now not grown further at 36wks and another opinion that the old measurements are all wrong and that baby was always within the right expected ranges and never big in the first place.

She also gave me some advice on ensuring baby faces the right way and pointed out that women of my ethnicity tend to have pelvises that lead to back to back positions and advised that I continue using the ball and not use any recliners of any kind. Now that is good to know and I will heed that advice! I have been putting my swollen feet up every evening in the recliner Blush.

Hey ladies, hope everyone is ok! Haven't been able to keep up with the posts been busy at work with an office move and handing over to my maternity cover. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow!! 1 more week left at work!

Looking fw to finishing up now. Feeling uncomfortable. Baby is looooowwww! Getting swollen hands and feet now too!

Kitsandkids · 01/06/2017 21:22

Ooh Luci, you'll be considered full term now!

I am feeling absolutely rubbish today. Hacking cough, sore throat, streaming nose and now I'm alternating between feeling cold and being hot and sweaty. I'm just so glad my husband is off for half term so he can do the practical stuff like feed the children! He's back to work all weekend so I really hope I feel better by then! I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and I can't help worrying that all the coughing is going to bring on labour!

iamreginaphalange · 01/06/2017 22:17

@Notyetthere Iam def on my way there... if I only have to per once at night I consider it a good nights sleep.
Iam on leave until Tuesday so been doing sweet FA this week and really really enjoyed it too.😁
Another 15 days leave to take before ML starts so def be doing even more sweet FA and just become a full time DNB until LO arrives.

Notyetthere · 02/06/2017 06:51

Luci definitely full term now! I would start chugging the raspberry leaf tea and evening primrose oil! I am starting both in earnest over the weekend.

Meeting a friend for dinner after work today. I am dreading how swollen my feet will be by the time I see her. Only sandals and flipflops will do. I last saw her when I was 9 wks gone!
