5th thread!

Going by the pace of ‘Thread #4’, this could the last one as we might all have our babies by the time it runs out. Unless we all give detailed commentary during labour Grin.

Though I just took a photo in my new dress and I look HUGE. I've not kept any bump pics this time (keep forgetting!) but I look MASSIVE. Shock

Kitsandkids · 16/05/2017 19:45

I think my bump is huge now but I had a health visitor home visit today and she commented on my small, neat bump, so I mustn't look massive to other people!

I have noticed that in the last few days I've started needing a wee almost as soon as I've stood up from having one! I'm assuming the baby is constantly pushing on my bladder!

wildone81 · 16/05/2017 20:17

I appear to have a foot wedged under a rib...anybody else being tortured in a similar fashion and/or have any suggestions for getting it shifted? Can't believe how sore it is 😥

mynameisntLinda · 16/05/2017 20:31

Wildone just force the foot out with your hand. Can usually unhook them from the outside 😂
I haven't taken a monthly bump shot this time either, taken some but not as regular as I did last time. Poor second child lol
Her first photo album is going to be a bit poor. Not even designed it or put any poems egg in it yet (I realise that makes it sound fancy but it was just a photo book one I did for ds1 so I feel obliged to make sure she has one just as good)

CatRash · 16/05/2017 22:10

Wildone YES!! Killer isn't it!!? I thought I'd have a few more weeks before baby and ribcage met but unfortunately a combination of being short and spending all day slumped over a desk have bought the two together.

I find a good brisk walk usually pushes baby downwards a bit or I just try pushing baby away from the outside.

Notyetthere · 17/05/2017 08:06

Will definitely unwedge that foot from underneath by gently massaging it away. I have managed to get mine moved from uncomfortable places that way.

I think mine is transverse now which is a worry as really should be starting to engage. I am getting kicks on both the extreme sides of my belly. I will find out on Friday at 34wk appointment.

OP posts:
LuciBee231015 · 17/05/2017 15:17

I haven't had the rib problem yet, baby has dropped and my belly is noticeably lower so maybe I've got away with it?! I can take in deeper breaths now too. They said baby was low last week at 34 week appointment, looking fw to see what they say at next weeks 36 week appointment!

ButterflyFree · 17/05/2017 17:41

I also haven't felt anything even remotely close to my ribs... Baby has always been very low and transverse - like yours @Notyetthere - but at least that means it's been pretty comfortable for me so far. No heartburn, no breathlessness, no aches and pains from baby's position. I even managed to sleep a solid 8 hours last night without needing a bathroom trip!

Got my GTT test results today and passed with flying colours, so that's good news. Blood tests came back as borderline anaemic though, so I've started on Feroglobin to boost my iron, folate and B12 today. Hopefully it will help improve my energy levels too.

mynameisntLinda · 17/05/2017 18:30

notyetthere I genuinely wouldn't worry about being transverse if you're only 34weeks. There's technically still 8 weeks for them to get there head down. Ds1 didn't get his head down until 39 weeks and was only 1-2 engaged when I had a sweep at 40 weeks.
I've heard of some people being booked for sections to find that baby has turned from breech position before the op 🙈 I'm sure these babies just like to test us 😂

Bawbles · 17/05/2017 23:12

I've had a dodgy couple of days. Lots of braxton hicks and upset tummy on Sunday. Monday at work I feel very queasy, stomach did a major churn, limped to the toilet and threw up. Felt weird since. Bump feels so full/pressured.
Noticed a reduction in movements/reactions and babies bum pressing painfully under my ribs which wouldn't shift despite usual stretches/rubbing which normal makes him shuffle back.
Rang midwife as a precaution and she said I needed to go to pregnancy assessment unit - turns out the little bugger has turned so his sticky out 'bum' is his head (probably fed up of me prodding it) but it explains the sickness when my bump lurched and the reduction in movements.

glitterglitters · 18/05/2017 17:44

Oooh that cheeky baby @Bawbles I've been having some major pains with braxton hicks and feels like the baby has dropped down as well.

I've got midwife on Monday but as it's second it doesn't matter if they're engaged or not because apparently they can pop in and out willy nilly now.

I should probably start packing my hospital bag at some point. 🙈

TinklingTheIvories · 18/05/2017 17:50

Had a horrible time with braxton hicks at work today. Couldn't get comfy and in a bit of pain. I've still got nearly 9 weeks to go so hoping baby doesn't decide to show early! There's a woman at work who's delivered her own baby, so I'll definitely be calling for her if it does show early!

glitterglitters · 18/05/2017 17:55

Oh wow! Was that intentional? I went from established labour to my daughter being born in less than 4 hours last time. So hoping this time is quick too.

She was 9 days late though 😭😭😭

TinklingTheIvories · 18/05/2017 23:02

It was super quick and no one came in time. She's amazingly calm and level headed so I imagine she'd be amazing. I'd be panicking!!

If my mums anything to go by, I'll be in pain for ages. Can't wait Hmm

Notyetthere · 19/05/2017 12:18

Glitter definitely get your bag packed! We already have 3 babies on the Due July thread.

Bawbles hope baby has now shifted to a more comfortable position and the upset tummy is also calm.

TMI ALERT - On one of my middle of the night toilet trips, I happened to observe my naked self in the bathroom mirror and then proceeded to look at myself from all angles; not horrified by the change in shape or even amazed by it. I thought to myself that hopefully I don't end up with body image issues if the body doesn't ping back to it's original shape. I don't know why I am posting about this anyway, the things that keep us up at night, eh.

I will be seeing the midwife later on today. Looking forward to listening to heartbeat and hopefully the fundal measurements are not too high. I don't want to birth a big baby!

4 weeks exactly left before maternity leave starts. I can't wait. I started handle over to my cover this week. I don't think I have enough time to complete the handover but my boss will probably take over the training.

OP posts:
glitterglitters · 19/05/2017 12:24

lol I'm in denial 🙈 I've got everything "sort of" sorted but no where near completed.

I'm looking forward to being able to join the gym and have a few hours to myself at about 6 months post partum. 😁

rhodes2015 · 19/05/2017 12:54

I wanted to complete my hospital bag this weekend but I still have back to back baby that's making walking extremely painful and paracetamol doesn't even take the edge off.
So I might be doing an online order for rest of stuff I need to be delivered rather than going into town.

I read somewhere that crawling round on all fours could encourage the baby to move so there I was last night crawling round upstairs! I'm so heavy though it kills my arms!

I was due to finish 4 weeks today too not but have bought it forward a week and work have agreed to let me work from home until then from Monday and just nip in for meetings. I started handing over to my cover 3weeks ago but I should be shadowing her until I leave.

glitters I'm looking forward to being able to join the gym too, like you say not too soon after but it's definitely something I hope I do!

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 19/05/2017 13:20

Just two weeks left for me at work now, I've brought my leave forward by two weeks. Mainly because I want some time to potter and be bored by myself for a bit, given the chances of that happening for a long time are slim to none!

Algebraic · 19/05/2017 13:25

Hello all. How's everyone doing?

Saw my midwife the other day and my iron levels are borderline low. Have had some more bloods taken to see if they want to medicate me. Does explain my extreme tiredness and being out of breath a fair bit!

I have started to get an irrational fear of having an 11lb baby or something like that. No foundation for this as I'm measuring 32cm at 31 weeks so perfectly on track. Anyone else driving themselves potty?

mynameisntLinda · 19/05/2017 14:28

glitters I've not packed anything...not even found a bag to pack stuff in yet.
I've got 8 weeks left when I go back on monday. I'm working right up to my due date. Last time j took 2 weeks holiday then started mat leave on my due date and the bugger was over a week "late". I was so god damn bored after 1 week off.
Dojt worry not a big baby means theyll have extra force of gravity on their side, itls just fall out lmao. Mine was 8lb 8 amd alrhough perfectly healthy i used to get a bit upset when people would comment how big he was and that he wasnt a dinky newborn. Stupid i know. Although people did seem to have sympathy for my nether regions haha

glitterglitters · 19/05/2017 14:30

Lol thank god its not just me @mynameisntLinda our dc are about the same age so maybe it's because we're so bloody knackered 😂🙌🏼

mynameisntLinda · 19/05/2017 14:41

@glitterglitters yep ill take that as a reason!!
Although I'm planning to have baby at home I really should learn my lesson from last time. So unprepared. Maybe if I actually pack a bag I'll end up not needing to go to hospital lol you know sods law and all that.

Kitsandkids · 19/05/2017 16:17

I've got most things I want for my bag but haven't actually packed it yet. I did want to buy a nice hold-all but can't find any so I think I'll just use a small suitcase that we've already got.

I had a scan yesterday and baby is still on the 50th centile. The consultant even agreed with me that I won't need to be induced by my due date as long as everything continues being 'normal.' She was saying I wouldn't be allowed to go over as I tested positive for GD, but my bloods are fine at home and baby isn't measuring large so they've agreed that as long as that all stays the same they'll let nature take its course. I do hope that nature doesn't take too long though! Ha ha!

I watched an old episode of call the midwife today - the one in which one mum has her baby kidnapped and another gets eclampsia and she and the baby die! I wished I'd never watched it by the end!

I'm 34 weeks today and it's starting to feel like, actually, it won't be long before I have a baby. It's all felt a bit hypothetical until now!

Notyetthere · 19/05/2017 16:36

Linda I'm not particularly worried about the baby being big - I'm worried for my bits! Now that I am thinking about the birth and the different methods of assisting if baby needs a litle help to come out like forceps or episiotomy, I am a little terrified. I'm sure when I get to it I will of course cope. I think giving birth being a situation that has an element of unpredictability and not being able to control the situation is what is getting to me. I can only deal with whatever happens at the time but I can't plan for it. I am a planner
