5th thread!

Going by the pace of ‘Thread #4’, this could the last one as we might all have our babies by the time it runs out. Unless we all give detailed commentary during labour Grin.

@mynameisntLinda haha yeah. I remember spotting every symptom going but then when it actually came to it i was like "nope. Nope. Nope"

😂

TinklingTheIvories · 13/05/2017 18:07

@glitterglitters I had what I assume was braxton hicks the other night. Really took me by surprise. I also go through phases where I just can't get comfy. A couple of yoga stretches normally sorts me, but the other night i was in all sorts of weird positions trying to get comfy. DH thinks it'll be funny to watch what I'm like in labour if that's anything to go by!

Got a few pregnancy weekends coming up which is nice to focus on the bump for a bit. Off for a massage tomorrow, then next weekend we're going to a waterbirthing course on Saturday, the baby show on the Sunday followed by iron maiden at night. Weekend after we've got a bump to baby photo shoot booked in - £19 on groupon. Couldn't say no really!!

mynameisntLinda · 13/05/2017 18:10

Lmao. I only realised I was actually in labour when I felt a pop and was like hmmm was that my waters?? Best wake dh up and let him know. 4 hours later he popped out. I'm just dreaming that this one will be as "easy" but there's that niggle in the back of my mind that I can't be that lucky twice.

mynameisntLinda · 13/05/2017 18:13

tinkling that's a bargain!!! I reckon bump will love having a dance to iron maiden!!

glitterglitters · 13/05/2017 18:26

Haha that sounds awesome @TinklingTheIvories I've definitely had the restless, can't get comfy thing.

My waters went in the bath. I got stuck and couldn't get out because it hurt ( our bath is a bit sloppy). Dh came in and asked why I was peeing in the bath. I started crying saying "I'm not! I'm not!"BlushGrin but it was my waters going. I just got out the bath and stood on the bath mat unsure what to do as the whole house had just been re-carpeted 😂

glitterglitters · 13/05/2017 18:26

Slippy even not sloppy ❤️

Bawbles · 13/05/2017 23:01

Aww glitters I'm expecting to go overdue, I think the strong braxton hicks are more indicative of my previously over stretched uterus than impending birth. I'm giggling at your carpet, I'd have faced the same dilemma.

tinkling your baby focused weekends sound lovely

Lallypopstick · 14/05/2017 05:39

I felt absolutely awful in the night - partly heartburn and probably something else as well, as I ended up being sick. Feel a lot better this morning but I didn't enjoy that at all!

Hope I get back to sleep as I have a hypnobirthing class later today. Here's hoping it's good!

Spindelina · 14/05/2017 08:15

Lallly I hate to say this, but I'd be missing the class if I'd vomited within 48 hours (unless it was obviously travel sickness or whatever). You really don't want to be passing a bug to a load more pregnant women!

Lallypopstick · 14/05/2017 08:42

I hadn't thought about that Spindelina - I was only sick once and I'm fine this morning, so I assumed it was just heartburn related. Hmm, I think I'll contact the woman and ask for advice.

mynameisntLinda · 14/05/2017 10:20

Haha glitters your carpets 🙈Mine went in the bath too, then when the midwife come and wanted to help me downstairs and i was very concerned about dripping and getting mess anywhere.
Hope you feel ok now lally. I've often found heartburn makes me feel sick and this morning I was almost sick from caughin too hard. Hope you enjoy the hypnobirthing class x

wildone81 · 14/05/2017 18:00

Cravings have arrived....urgent need for icy icy cold black current and lemonade! And ice lollies, also black currant....

Anyone else?

mynameisntLinda · 14/05/2017 18:47

I've had some cravings for a bit but it's just been to eat boring ceaser salad with croutons lol. Didnt get any cravings last time but I just can't get enough of salad. Had it for dinner and tea 4 times the other week. Dh thinks it's not a craving and ive just been mind controlled by my hypnobirthing track whilst I sleep. He says yellow in the rainbow talks about only eating nutritional food or something 😂

ButterflyFree · 15/05/2017 09:09

I'm currently in the middle of the dreaded GTT test - can't wait for it to be over! That glucose drink was vile, like drinking pure syrup, and I'm dying to be able to drink water 😩 I requested a room as I started to feel a bit dizzy, and am now lying down... just hoping the remaining 2 hours pass quickly.

Got my fit to fly certificate this morning as well, ready for my flight to London on Sunday. My OB/GYN has told me to come back late on Saturday night for an innohep injection (active ingredient tinzaparin - a blood thinner) to prevent the risk of DVT on the flight. I got compression socks already, but has anyone else heard of or had experience of this kind of blood thinning injection prior to flying? Apparently its effects only last 24hrs.

TinklingTheIvories · 15/05/2017 11:15

The gtt was one of the worst things I've ever been through.

Had my results from some of my bloods today. I'm clear for parvovirus. Had to be checked as my niece who I see every weekend had slapped cheek. All clear. All good. Wasn't expecting the phone cal to say I'm clear, so I just assumed the worst when I saw the docs number pop up on my screen. They just wanted to reassure me that it's all good and I'm all clear

mynameisntLinda · 15/05/2017 12:12

Butterfly not something I've heard of, my doctor did my fit to fly note over the phone! Never even saw me. Just took my word for it that everything was normal and left a letter at reception that I had to pay for. Not one person even asked about being pregnant (nor did they offer to help me when I had to struggle down the stairs with 2 cases, big handbag and a toddler! Other passengers were lovely though and helpful)
I was just told compression socks and walk up and down the plane every couple of hours. Mw gave me a tape measure that showed what size socks to buy.

Oh that's good news tinkling!!

Not been sick for weeks but threw up this mornjng. Feel better now but just feel out of sorts. Must be the heat, but I'm really struggling to breath and spending most of my time indoors. Thankfully hubby arrived in Spain now so he's entertaining the 2 year old so I can lay up a bit.

ButterflyFree · 15/05/2017 15:25

Good news about your test results @TinklingTheIvories, and yes, the GTT test was horrible wasn't it. Very glad to have it over and done with. Results will come tomorrow but I'm not concerned seeing as I'm low risk and it's just a standard test for all here.

@mynameisntLinda Apparently this injection is recommended from 28 weeks onwards if you're taking a 5+ hour flight... Dubai to London is 7 hours so I suppose it makes sense that my doctor prescribed it. The blood thinning effect wears off after a day so I have to go and get it administered at 10pm on Saturday before flying at 5am on Sunday. Another thing to add to the to-do list! I doubt I'll be asked by the airline to show my fit to fly letter either, especially since I don't look nearly as far along as I am, but it's better to have it just in case.

I also feel for you suffering in the heat... I've not been sick but had several bouts of dizziness/nausea brought on by the temperature here. Actually excited to be heading back to rainy old England!!

Littlejayx · 15/05/2017 18:29

Anyone else feeling massive! I'm 31 weeks now and I'm measuring a teeny bit on the big side Blush think that's food not just baby

July 2017 #5 - Third Trimester is Here!
danigrace · 15/05/2017 18:42

Well we ended up at hosp today. Had really bad localised pain yday eve that was worse through the night leading to me getting no sleep at all and was really bad this morning to the point I almost fell over when I got up. I have a high pain threshold and bruised ribs/diaphragm, sore/tender belly muscles and pulled ligaments etc have been a part of daily life with this psycho active baba for a while now, so I knew it wasn't that.
Turns out to be a bad muscle tear, they gave me a codeine prescription (which I refused) and told me to skip my exercise classes for at least a week whilst it heals. Feel much better now I know baby is fine and hasn't done any actual damage and it's just bad for me, I'll power through the pain and just hope it doesn't last too long bc omfg it's bad when she moves on the left side or whenever I stand up and move myself.
I knew she was an extremely active baby bc I have a lot of mummy friends and they all laugh and joke about me with it but whilst at the hosp 3 midwives and the doc all commented on how incredibly active she was and doc said "my goodness, and she'll probably be like this for you her whole life...". DH and I were like, what are we in for... Blush Grin They tried to put me on the monitor but it was a waste of time bc she kept violently kicking it off and darting away haha

glitterglitters · 16/05/2017 00:17

Gahhh I'm in the throes of the worst insomnia ever. I cannot get comfortable, no matter how I lay, what I wear, the temperature of the room etc until at least 5am which is an hour before the toddler starts shouting "mummy!!!"

I'm trying to get as much writing work done as possible so I can have a good length of time off when the baby comes but I'm so wiped out I can barely string a sentence together.

At least most of the washing is fine now and I just need to pack my hospital bags now but still... I wish I could sleep SadConfusedEnvy

Spindelina · 16/05/2017 04:44

Morning, glitters. Sounds like I'm waking up just as you go to sleep... much sympathy with the crap sleep. I've got a several-hour-long meeting later today, during which I would normally consume a lot of coffee. It's not going to go well.

Notyetthere · 16/05/2017 08:05

Dani that must have been scary. Glad it is not hurting baby and that the pain dies down as the muscle heals.

Little I am massive! Being 5ft2 doesn't help either so I look even bigger. I am measuring at the 95th percentile and I reckon at my 34wk appointment this Friday I will measure close to that or over it. I won't be surprised if Midwife sends me to hospital for a growth scan this time. I have only put on 1kg(I'm overweight so I have to keep an eye on weight gain) so dh reckons baby is just really tall, rather squashed in my belly and the only way she can get more room is to push my belly out.

Butter ouch about the extra shots for the flight. Atleast it lowers the risk of clots. I bet you can't wait to get here to hit the shops and start stocking up on baby gear.

Linda hope you are feeling better and enjoying your break in the sun a little more.

Butter and Tinkling yes the dreaded GTT. Mine wasn't too bad. I had it in the morning so really I just missed out breakfast and had brunch instead - meatballs in Ikea! Best meal of the week!

Glitter the discomfort sleeping. Fir it is the constant toilet trips in between. I guess it's training me for the night feeds if anything. I have been waking on average 4 times a night to wee which I think is helping with shifting the body from uncomfortable positions before the aches start, but still, it's rubbish. When you have a full day's work a head of you.

I am off to the gp this morning to see if I can get hayfever tablets for the season on prescription (make the most of it). I will also ask for a physio referral for the PGP to ensure I am not doing anything to create more damage but also how I can manage it during birth like birthing positions that won't create more damage to those joints and how to ensure all is well postpartum.

danigrace · 16/05/2017 16:06

Hugs @glitterglitters, that doesn't sound fun! Do you have a maternity cushion? Are you happy with your mattress? A thick memory foam topper and the theraline pillow helped me a lot. But some nights nothing seems to work...

How'd the meeting go @Spindelina?

Thanks @Notyetthere. Taking another rest day today - which I really don't have time for, will try and make it up at the weekend.
Do you do any antenatal yoga and/or pilates? I don't remember. That def helps manage my pelvic pain and the teachers have given me lots of great tips and moves to do at home too

Spindelina · 16/05/2017 16:25

Not too bad, thanks! There was a bit after lunch (which, inevitably, included Brie sandwiches Sad) when I definitely felt like napping, but made it through without saying anything too daft, I think!

glitterglitters · 16/05/2017 16:26

Yep I've got a wedge pillow, v shape pillow, body pillow. I can't do memory foam toppers as I feel stuck. Our mattress is a very good one but a couple of years from needing changing. I've tried sleeping in my daughter's bed but that's just as bad. I think it's just general insomnia because then as soon as I manage to switch off I'm fast asleep. I get itchy legs at night too (don't worry I've spoken to the midwife and they're not worried about choletosis (sp?))

I suffered with insomnia pretty much since teenage years so it's not too much of a surprise, just frustrating when I'm tired. Dh is on the late shift for a couple of weeks now (2-10) which helps a lot because he'll take dd in the mornings and let me crack on with some sleep and work.

I'm not wishing the weeks away, and I certainly want the baby to come at their own pace and the right time, but I think I'm almost at that "point" now where I'm like "bring it on"
