Thread #2, because apparently our "quiet" thread is rather busy! Grin

If you're new, do add yourself to the list so we can all see where we're at!

Help yourself to a Biscuit, here's to another month of chatting!

Oh, good. Now I'm freaking out! We're going to Canada for a wedding & will have 6 full days there. We'd originally thought we'd meet up with family one day, the wedding would be one day & we'd have a few days to do as much or as little as we thought DS1 would cope with. PILs just rang & it seems that we're expected to meet up with lots of separate people on separate days so will only have the first full day, which will be recovering from the flight, & the last day, which will be spent recovering from all the socialising. Basically no time to spend just sight seeing. I struggle with socialising at the best of times. I would never willingly arrange to hang out with even my own siblings for 4 consecutive days. I just get migraines when I can't cope, DS1 will go into full on meltdown in front of people he's never met before! Basically it's a recipe for disaster & I'm really irritated with DH for saying we'd discuss it in a way

Pff... Stupid phone...!

... in a way that makes it look like he'd be happy with it but I'm being awkward & saying no. It's really not that I dislike his family at all, I'll be sad if we don't get to see much of them! I'm just trying to be realistic about what DS1 & I can handle so we can enjoy seeing people, rather than feel like we're barely holding it together!

Sorry, I know I'm ranting but I'm feeling emotional & stressed. Sad

In other news, I've finally found one girl's name I actually like. Now I just need to convince DH!

That sounds like a stressful few days Agnu, not the relaxing break you were hoping for. Can you combine some of the meet ups so you get a few days to relax? Are you pil aware of what you & ds1 can cope with? I ask this because DP's DF & Dsm live overseas & before we went this time they'd planned every single day for us. It was well intentioned trying to get DS to see as many animals etc as possible but they hadn't thought about the needs of a 2.5 year old & being in the car for 8 hours the day after a 12 hour flight wasn't a good idea. DP & I took their itinerary & chopped it round a bit to fit what DS needed / would tolerate. We only managed 2 hours as a family of 3 for the whole 2 week holiday but as we only see them once a year I kind of had to suck that up. Hope you manage to reach a happy compromise.

lydiangel83 · 23/04/2017 07:32

Does anyone else lie awake for hours at a time during the night unable to sleep? Then wake up feeling rubbish in the morning?

I've got to stop having my phone by my bed, spent an hour from 3-4am looking at baby names!

Can't imagine how sleepless the future is going to be, I'm already knackered!!

Foggymist · 23/04/2017 08:14

Lydia my toddler wakes about 3-5 times a night, I used to be able to get back to sleep but this week I've not been able to at the 5am wake ups :( He doesn't go to sleep until 9-10pm despite our best efforts so I get at best 5-7 hours of very broken sleep now with added insomnia, to say I'm tired is an understatement!

butterybollocks · 23/04/2017 08:54

@Agnu that sounds stressful. Having had a migraine last week I'd say do whatever you have to do to minimise your stress and avoid it. Just blame it on being pregnant and exhausted.

I felt a bit guilty yesterday, picked up my little girl from my dad's where she'd been for a sleepover. I was completely exhausted and feeling bloated and grim - my dad was clearly hoping we'd stay for dinner (which would have been a rare steak!) but we had to make slightly crap excuses and head home. I think my dad was quite disappointed. Only a few weeks until we can tell everyone!

We have a nearly 5 year old who is desperate for a sibling. She is going to be beyond excited when we tell her.

Aliceinchunderland · 23/04/2017 11:49

Have any of the people struggling with sickness been put on Promethazine? My GP gave me some a few days ago when I was vomiting about 15 times a day. It's done wonders for my appetite but I swear it's turned me into a zombie! I'm literally sleeping about 18 hours of the day. I've just woken up and I'm already thinking about an afternoon nap. Thank God I don't have any other kids to worry about!
My scan date has come through. May 15th, I'm so excited!

Zampa · 23/04/2017 11:58

I'm not on any drugs Alice but equally as attached to be my bed. In it right now!

Mummyosborne1983 · 23/04/2017 12:04

My scan is 15th May too @Aliceinchunderland at 11am... only 3 weeks on Monday! Yay!
According to my early scan I'll be exactly 12wks then... how about you? X

DuRezidal · 23/04/2017 12:50

I am really worried I don't have a scan date and now 10w 4d

Aliceinchunderland · 23/04/2017 14:34

@mummyosborne I'll be 12+3 based on my LMP. I really wanted an early scan but the nearest one was over 60 miles away. Bloody Wales!

@DuRez I'm sure it'll come through soon, have you booked in with the midwife yet?

MrsGB2225 · 23/04/2017 15:27

DuRez - it might be worth contacting the scan department at the hospital. They had the wrong address for me from the midwife/gp somehow. Luckily for me the person who got the letter called up the scan department to let them know they had the wrong address and they called me to arrange over the phone.

butterybollocks · 23/04/2017 16:05

@DuRezidal I am 10 weeks tomorrow - no scan date yet. I had my booking in appt on Tues though, so the NHS's ancient systems are unlikely to have processed my referral yet!

Alice I would be in bed all day if I didn't already have a child to look after!

AGnu · 23/04/2017 16:56

I'd forgotten that anti-nausea tablets were basically like sleeping pills! Might be worth contacting your GP & asking about other options. Pretty sure I tried 2 types when I was pregnant with DS2, no idea what they were called though!

I was exactly 10 weeks when I got my scan letter. It's probably worth chasing if you've not heard anything by mid-week.

I'm spending as much time in bed as possible, which is most of the time given that DH is being amazing! I've calmed down a little since last night - we've agreed that we'll spend half days or just meals with family, rather than doing full day trips. It makes it slightly more manageable! My next big thing to stress about is finding a dress that will fit & not make me look fat/frumpy. I hate shopping!

These are my anti-sickness meds- don't make me anymore tired than I was before taking them. They are amazing... I wouldn't cope without them xx

Natalie if someone has bad enough sickness they'll try anything for relief, and meds wouldn't be available unless they had been seriously assessed for side effects (remember thalidomide?). Dangerous how?

DuRezidal · 23/04/2017 22:09

@Aliceinchunderland I have that tomorrow where I fill in the book so hopefully will find out then when I can get a scan done.

Mummyosborne1983 · 23/04/2017 22:28

No they aren't dangerous - seriously in this day and age!!! I have taken them with my past 2 pregnancies and all was well.
I obviously wouldn't risk the health of my unborn baby!!!

Aliceinchunderland · 23/04/2017 23:09

@natalie there's a selection of antiemetics that are considered safe for pregnancy. It got to the point where I was vomiting 15-20 times a day, I couldn't eat or leave the house.

@mummyosbone I'm on Promethazine at the moment which is the first line treatment, I'm gonna have to go back and get something else though if I want to go back to work in the near future! The GP gave me a sick note for 2 weeks but I don't think I'd be able to get myself to work, let alone work for 12 and half hours on these!

@DuRez My midwife sent my referral off after my booking in appt. I had that appt last Monday and got my scan letter yesterday. Hopefully you'll get yours straight away

Hazandduck · 24/04/2017 12:42

Alice I take promethazine for travel sickness and yes it gives me the zombie effect. It is totally safe early on, GPs wouldn't give it if it wasn't. It's later I think with prochlorezapine some studies have shown it can have an impact on the baby, but that is the last trimester. Prochlorezpine is similar to promethazine I've taken both and they both make me a little drowsybut I have a fear of vomiting so I'll take that over sickness! Xx

Hazandduck · 24/04/2017 12:45

Also durez don't panic as long as you get scanned between 11 and 14 weeks they can do the nuchal testing I think! My midwife called today she is lovely I went to school with her daughter and she remembers me :) She is coming to my house on Friday morning when I'll be 11+4 but she said she is going to rush it through so I get a scan through quickly bless her x

MrsGB2225 · 24/04/2017 12:46

Happy Monday everyone!

Sorry to hear about the extreme morning sickness. I have a couple of friends that were hospitalised due to dehydration from HG. They deserved medals for going for baby number 2 when they knew what was ahead of them. So hats off for those that are having number 3!

I have a wedding when I'm 12 weeks (but still before my scan) so trying to something online to hide the bloat I will have my then.. everything seems to be sold out! It's so hard to plan outfits for weddings this summer when you have no idea how much you'll weigh (I put on A LOT) of weight last time!)

MrsGB2225 · 24/04/2017 12:46

haz your midwife comes to your house?! That's amazing!!

theotherendofthesockportal · 24/04/2017 13:03

Ladies can I ask you a bit of a tmi question? How many times are you up in the night to go for a wee?

I was up 5 times last night, is this normal? Or do I need to be checked for a uti?
