My husband has bought me a pregnancy pillow, it is the most comfortable thing ever! I may never leave my bed again! 😴

butterybollocks · 19/05/2017 07:07

Oooo sock I'm planning to buy a new one this weekend! I still have my 5 year old one from my last pregnancy but it's falling apart.

Yesterday I found a bump bandeau in a bag of maternity clothes. I'd forgotten how useful they are, especially at this stage. I'm going to buy a few more I think.

lydiangel83 · 19/05/2017 07:13

@butterybollocks what do you do with a bandeau? I really need to go clothes shopping! Most mat clothes I see are so dull tho! I guess comfort > fashion!

Zampa · 19/05/2017 07:24

I was browsing for maternity clothes online last night after going through my box from last time. Going to get some tees and jumpers from JoJo this time, I think and one more work dress, probably from Seraphine. Will need another pair of shorts for holidays I think. Really going to try and not spend money on a maternity coat but living in the frozen North might force me to come September!

I have a bump band which I have never used if anyone wants it?

GingerHanna · 19/05/2017 07:42

For those worrying about foods and what we're allowed - get thee a copy of Expecting Better. The author gets behind the 'guidance' and myths to understand the research, studies, their veracity etc. she gives us a much more informed view to allow us to make our own educated decisions - everything from alcohol and cured meats to sweeps and induction. Well worth the read.

lydiangel83 · 19/05/2017 07:44

I accidentally ate some mouldy toast last night (hoovered it down and saw mould afterwards and tasted it!) so bit worried about that but feel fine today.

Sounds like a good read @GingerHanna thanks! Only book I have bought so far is 'the unmumsy mum'!

Ohb0llocks · 19/05/2017 08:37

Can I join in?

Due 13th Nov, been wary of joining a thread due to lack of symptoms!

GingerHanna · 19/05/2017 08:57

Welcome b0llocks and damn I'm jealous of the no symptoms but completely understand that it must be very unnerving as at least with symptoms you feel some kind of pregnancy.

Zampa · 19/05/2017 08:59

I second the recommendation of Expecting Better. It's great. I lent my copy to a friend and can't yet ask for it back!

butterybollocks · 19/05/2017 09:08

@lydia it's just a strip of slightly elastic material that covers from your chest down to the top of your bum. Useful for wearing normal trousers done up loosely at this stage because it hides everything. Useful for layering! I think you can get some that button on to jeans etc so you can effectively have them undone.

Foggymist · 19/05/2017 09:32

Lydia mumsnet wasnt working properly for me yesterday, tried to reply to say sushi is fine to eat!

lydiangel83 · 19/05/2017 09:35

Thanks @Foggymist good to know :) it was tasty!

I have a lot to learn about maternity clothes :) @Zampa that sounds good tho!

lydiangel83 · 19/05/2017 09:36

Oops sorry @butterybollocks not @Zampa ! Can I use baby brain as an excuse for mistakes yet?!

Working from home today and been up since 5.30am but can't get out of bed! Time to do some work I suppose!!

lydiangel83 · 19/05/2017 11:20

I am really struggling to find smart work dresses, I just received two Isabella Oliver dresses that I ordered and disappointed with quality and fit of them. AIBU or are all mat dresses fairly shapeless, and soft materials?

Debating whether to return them as quite pricey but rapidly outgrowing my normal work clothes!

Ohb0llocks · 19/05/2017 11:24

Thanks @GingerHanna

Although, in my first pregnancy I suffered from hyperemesis, so maybe my idea of a lack of symptoms isn't the same as some Grin

Topsyloulou · 19/05/2017 13:14

Lydia I bought my work dresses last time from Asos, H&M & new look. Mostly plain black stretchy fabric in differing styles & then dressed them up with jackets, jewellery etc. They all washed & wore well. I bought a seraphine dress from eBay & was very disappointed with it, only wore it a couple of times. You might struggle to find things that have a shape at the moment as they all look better once you have a prominent bump. It's the awkward stage of normal clothes being too small & maternity being too big at the moment.

lydiangel83 · 19/05/2017 13:58

@Topsyloulou thanks that is good advice. I will have a look at those stores. I think I will be returning my Isabella Oliver dresses, they look quite cheap which I wouldn't mind if they didn't cost £55 each!!

stuckinny · 19/05/2017 14:10

I bought a bunch of stuff from asos and am surprisingly pleased. Not only was there free international shipping but I ordered late Tuesday night and it arrived yesterday.
I choose all dark stuff and plan to dress it up with cardigans and jewelry. Thankfully my office is freezing so it shouldn't be too bad for the summer. Depending how I feel I might brave the mall tonight as I have nothing much for the weekends and I'm starting to out grow my regular clothes.
I desperately need new bras too but I haven't braved that one yet. It's times like this I miss M&S!

Can anyone recommend a good brand of reusable nursing pads? I know it's a little early but I started leaking around four and a half months with DS. Confused

tmc14 · 19/05/2017 14:35

Hi all,
I took a tumble at lunch, I even paving, wrist & knee took the brunt but I did fall in my stomach a bit. Frantic googling tells me it's fine but it's very stressful thinking I might have hurt the little bean 😕

Good to read about clothes, I have no idea on where to start... luckily my more stretchy clothes are good for now.

lydiangel83 · 19/05/2017 15:26

@tmc14 I hope you're ok you must be shaken up :-/

Keen to hear other people's clothing experiences as feeling quite uninspired at the moment!

tmc14 · 19/05/2017 15:33

Thanks Lydia, am ok, but yes, bit shaken. Logical head vs illogical head when thinking of danger.

With the clothes - I think for me it feels like I'm shopping for someone else. At the moment I just feel a bit fatter, rather than getting bigger because of being pregnant, so can't imagine needing actual maternity clothes.

lydiangel83 · 19/05/2017 15:43

Aww bless you sounds horrible :( I'm the same with mat clothes it feels like shopping for someone else and I don't have a bump just fatter. But when I went up a size in Normal clothes I don't have the boobs (even now!) to fill a size 12!

stuckinny · 19/05/2017 15:47

I hope you're ok tmc

Lydia*, I was miserable shopping Tuesday night. There wasn't much I liked the look of, hence all the black. My regular clothes had been fitting fine until I got dressed for work on Monday. I seemed to have popped a bit over the weekend. The crazy heat here over the last few days hasn't helped either. I think all the above is why I was probably so happy when it all arrived. Not great summer stuff but with a bit of luck I'll be able to get some use out of it. With the exception of the leggings I think I'll be able to wear everything I've bought so far for a good while after the birth too.

theotherendofthesockportal · 19/05/2017 18:14

@tmc14 if any doubt call your midwife. Your baby should be quite protected at this stage though. Hope you feel better soon

kimblesj · 19/05/2017 20:20

@tmc14 hope all is ok, I am sure it is, but nothing wrong with getting checked out.

I have a real achy pelvis today, so much walking around. Otherwise looking forward to second trimester glow. I'm constantly feel like I have wet myself due to discharge, still shattered, between pregnancy and gdd I can't eat a sodding thing and my actual face has developed an oil slick down my t zone!
Grateful for pregnancy and shouldn't moan but today I'm achy and tired
