Thread #2, because apparently our "quiet" thread is rather busy! Grin

If you're new, do add yourself to the list so we can all see where we're at!

Help yourself to a Biscuit, here's to another month of chatting!

Hope you're OK AGnu, what's the process now. Great that your gp has been so responsive.

Haz, as they can't do the combined test, i'll be offered the quadruple test at my next midwife appt. That's not for another 3 weeks and apparently results take two weeks so it would be a long wait and it's only 70% accurate. No chance of a repeat scan for the nuchal translucency as I'm 14 weeks according to the dating scan.
So I've booked private nipt for next week. It's a lot of money but actually just booking it feels like a weight off my mind. And we also get another scan so will see baby again Smile

Foggymist · 17/05/2017 13:25

We get no mention of nuchal/combined/quadruple tests here Confused

Zampa · 17/05/2017 14:33

Kimbles Apologies, I remember you posting about this now. It must be a time of enormous anxiety for you now. I'm glad the the consultant is taking everything very seriously. It's the least you deserve.

Foggy Pre-eclampsia was the least of by worries TBH! I went into labour at 32+6 and due to foetal distress was whisked off to theatre for a Cat 1 EMCS (under GA, due to the pre-eclampsia). DD was born at 33 weeks and had cranio-facial abnormalities, skull lacunae (gaps in her skull) and she suffered from Grade IV bleeds throughout her brain, around the time of her delivery. At 4 days old, we were told that she would only ever have brain stem function. Fortunately, that proved to be wrong but she has significantly delayed development and is undergoing genetic testing to see what may have caused her issues.

Agnu Hope that the GP is able to help.

Hazandduck · 17/05/2017 14:48

How scary Agnu, hope you are ok! X

Hi, been lurking for ages but decided I'm finally feeling confident enough to join in. I'm due 4/11 but I'm guessing this is the 'main' Nov club as the other one is pretty quiet!

I have low Papp-a discovered at my 12 week blood test. Anyone else out there with that? Mine is 0.27...super low...Sad I'm getting extra scans to monitor problems with growth and the placenta starting at 23 weeks.

This is my third, other two were super easy pregnancies so this abnormal result has made me quite nervous.
Fingers crossed it's just a random 'one of those things'!!

LonelyCooler · 17/05/2017 16:42

Principal I had low Papp-a at my 12 bloods too. I've been told to take 75mg of aspirin a day to help prevent preeclampsia and also getting the extra scans to check growth and placenta like you. I got 0.37 I think.

butterybollocks · 17/05/2017 16:55

Welcome Principal Smile

@foggymist do you get any tests for downs etc? I'm sure you've said where you are but I've forgotten Blush

PrincipalCelestia · 17/05/2017 17:20

@LonelyCooler I have read about the aspirin to prevent...blood clots is it? (not exactly sure what it's for!) but haven't yet been advised to take it myself.
I have my 16 week midwife appt on Monday so will ask then but I'm not seeing a consultant until my special Doppler scan at 23 weeks.
The info on low Papp-a is few and far between to say the least! Seems to be a very new link, but the risks I'm now higher for are a little bit terrifying!

On a more positive note I'm looking very pregnant today, went into my son's reception class and all the kids were patting my tummy and asking about the baby Smile

Foggymist · 17/05/2017 17:37

@butterybollocks nope I don't think so, they take measurements at first scan but say nothing ime, I'm assuming if there's something measuring wrong they investigate further. Most hospitals don't even do anomaly scan, usually just 12 week scan and then another at about 36 weeks I think, I'm not sure because I was admitted at 36 weeks so my experience was different. I'm in Ireland. We will have anomaly scan privately like we did last time at 20 weeks.

DuRezidal · 17/05/2017 19:38

Has anyone else had their bloods back from the combined screening?

I had my scan etc two weeks ago yesterday and still not had anything through!!!

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 17/05/2017 20:05

Nothing for me DuRez although I only had mine taken on Friday so it's not too bad. At the time they told me 7-10 days, but we shall see!

tmc14 · 17/05/2017 20:16

DuRez - had bloods taken last Monday & got the letter last Friday! Was scared to open it as they said if it was bad news, it'd be a quick response, and good news takes a couple of weeks... luckily all were low risk scores 🙄 My last blood results (they did an STI screen at my booking in) took 2 weeks though.

DuRezidal · 17/05/2017 21:25

I think I will give them a call tomorrow as feel I should have had it by now!

lydiangel83 · 18/05/2017 07:44

@DuRezidal took me two weeks to get a letter but definitely chase.

Has anyone started any preggo yoga or special classes? Struggling to find any that work for my work schedule and feel like I'm missing out :-/

theotherendofthesockportal · 18/05/2017 07:50

@lydiangel83 I'm planning to start a pre natal yoga class at 16 weeks. I'm just hoping I get over my chronic tiredness by then. 14 weeks today and j could happily sleep the majority of the day away

kimblesj · 18/05/2017 08:15

Does anyone else feel like time is just going so quickly now?

@theotherendofthesockportal I have the tiredness still too! I come in from work, bath the kids and go to bed with them! Haven't seen my husband to say more than hello for about 8 weeks!

@Zampa Don't apologise, I know there are lots of people in the group and don't expect anyone to remember! I'm more than happy to talk about it/not talk about it so it doesn't bother me to mention it.

@AGnu Great that you are finally getting a referral, it can be such a long drawn out process getting to that point an frustrating when you know the extra support would be so beneficial and you can't access it. Hopefully things will move quickly for you.

Foggymist · 18/05/2017 08:53

I'm going to just do yoga at home as I can't make the nearest pregnancy pilates with work/creche pick up.

Zampa · 18/05/2017 08:54

Second trimester today! Whoop! Time is definitely passing quickly now Kimbles, with lots of little milestones coming up.

I'm getting increasingly annoyed with the dietary advice on my pregnancy app. It's over-cautious to the nth degree. Taking it all with pinch of salt (but not too much, got to watch the blood pressure!).

Foggymist · 18/05/2017 09:00

Oh Zampa I have a friend lecturing me on what not to eat Hmm We're both pregnant with our second but clearly she knows way more than me, and eating tons of junk and sugar like she does is fine but eating "banned" foods that are homemade, not processed at all and perfectly fine as a one off are awful. She's only known a week and we've nearly fallen out already, it's gonna be a loooong few months!

izzibee29 · 18/05/2017 10:28

@Zampa so yesterday I made hubby a nice lunch plate which included some Italian cured meat. I made my first slip up and popped a bit in my mouth as I put the plate in front of him. He pointed out it was cured meat and my face fell. Whoops! One slip up in 13 weeks can't be that bad. I say don't fret too much if it happens once in a while. My mum told me that she wasn't advised to take folic acid when prego with me or my sister but luckily we both turned out ok.

DuRezidal · 18/05/2017 11:05

The results are being delayed due to the hacking of the system.

They have given them me over the phone. Due to my age they have given me a risk of 1:460 but from my bloods it is 1:20,000 for Down syndrome, 1:3,100 for Edwards and 1:21,000 for one beginning with a P.

I am going to ask why the Edwards one is much higher than the others though.

stuckinny · 18/05/2017 13:19

There are lots of mixed messages when it comes to food. Things that are on the no-go list here are fine in the U.K. and vice versa.

Deli meats here should be avoided but cured meats are fine.

I take the whole thing with a pinch of salt. If where you're buying from is trustworthy then I'm of the opinion I slice or two is okay.
I had a couple of slices of ham over the weekend - something I don't often eat but have been really fancying.
With DS I remember making a trip home and stopping in Tesco on the way to my parents. I ate a whole French stick with pate. It tasted like the best thing I'd ever eaten!!

lydiangel83 · 18/05/2017 14:20

I had a teeny tiny bit of sushi in Japan Blush

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 18/05/2017 14:39

DH is away for three nights and I'm so tempted to sneak to the supermarket so I can have pate on toast. I know he'd be horrified though, so I'm trying to resist!

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 18/05/2017 16:56

Can't handle the guilt, even though I haven't bought any! I'm going to have butter and bovril on toast instead.
