Thread #2, because apparently our "quiet" thread is rather busy! Grin

If you're new, do add yourself to the list so we can all see where we're at!

Help yourself to a Biscuit, here's to another month of chatting!

My cats haven't twigged as yet. I am a bit worried about what they'll do when the baby is here. They love DS & are fine with him but whenever either of our baby nieces come round one of them is straight in the cot or car seat as soon as it's empty. Makes me worry that they may try & get in the Moses basket while the baby is in there. We didn't get them until DS was 1 so not sure what they'll do.

Foggymist · 25/04/2017 21:34

Topsy cats usually won't go near something when a baby is in it, they don't like the noise or sudden movements. They go for them when empty because they're warm and cosy and clearly put their for the cat :)

GingerHanna · 26/04/2017 06:58

I've had to tell more people than we would have liked. We told our immediate families after the six week scan (PILs, BIL, DS & DB) which was fine. However we had to go to a big family do when I was eight weeks and as soon as I turned down a drink everyone knew!

Had to tell a good few folks at work as I've been working from home a lot and had to rearrange a lot of deadlines as I've been quite ill.

Same with friends, told a couple of close ones but when I turned down a drink at our monthly girls/knit night there were quite a few knowing looks.

Will be more open after 12 week scan (which is actually 12+3-5) but no big announcement.

One cat is just the same but my older one only curls up with me when I'm ill, and he's been curling up with me every nicht for over a month! Now I'm slowly going down the path to feeling human again he's started to sleep between DH and I, which he had never done!

Looking forward to getting some reassurance at the next scan. There's nothing to raise fears right now but you know how it is. Then it'll be the wait for the NIPT results...

Welcome squadron. Please feel free to fill in your stats on the sheet linked to in the OP.

Foggymist · 26/04/2017 08:45

I just accept or buy an alcoholic drink and then don't drink them, basically taking fake sips during dinner or pouring a bit out when I get a chance! If you accept it enthusiastically people don't bat an eye but refuse one and the jig's up!

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 26/04/2017 08:53

I've been buying virgin mojitos. They look so unmistakably alcoholic that no one ever questions them!

Topsyloulou · 26/04/2017 11:20

We're away this weekend with a group of DP's friends & all the wives & children.I know it's going to be a very boozy affair & because we're in a big house together for 3 days it's going to be hard to cover up not drinking. Also not sure how I'm going to stay awake past 9.30 for 3 nights. I might be a bit 'under the weather' & trying to flush it out of my system with water. If they were closer friends I might have told them but haven't met some of them before & feels wrong to tell them before close family & friends.

lydiangel83 · 26/04/2017 12:57

@Foggymist I agree with your approach, accept a drink and don't drink. I made the mistake of declining a drink at a friend's birthday and raised eyebrows until I said I'd given it up for Lent (tenuous!)

Zampa · 26/04/2017 14:13

Tonic water and 0% beer are good ones to order at the bar as well as non-alcoholic cocktails. They all look boozy but aren't.

It's harder if your sharing bottles of wine around a table. You could recruit DP to sip yours and after a while people don't notice that you're not getting topped up as often.

Finally have my dating scan through when I'll be 13 weeks, also having a cervical length scan on the same day. Still got a private one on Friday though as I just don't feel pregnant despite the nausea, tiredness, big boobs and bloated tummy!

butterybollocks · 26/04/2017 15:46

Still no scan date here! Confused

I don't drink so I can safely refuse drinks without any suspicion. If I was offered a rare steak and turned that down everyone would know as I love meat!

theotherendofthesockportal · 26/04/2017 16:01

@butterybollocks I was getting worried that I hadn't had my scan date so I phoned the maternity unit and they told me.

I'm booked in for 9th May at 9am. I'm so excited!

Give your maternity unit a call?

MrsGB2225 · 26/04/2017 16:47

crab do you mind me asking why you are having a cervical scan the same day? I was told I wouldn't have mine until 16 weeks, but would prefer to have it earlier.

Hazandduck · 26/04/2017 18:50

I'm one of the teetotallers too so I luckily don't need to disguise any alcohol avoidance. My giveaway is the decaf tea lol! Everyone knows I can't say no to tea! Grin

butterybollocks · 26/04/2017 19:34

Thanks sock. I'm probably just worrying unnecessarily as I'm only 10+2. If I haven't had a letter by Tues I'll call them.

I'm feeling a bit emotional at the moment... I just cried watching Moana and yesterday I cried because there were police horses in London outside my office.

theotherendofthesockportal · 26/04/2017 19:59

@butterybollocks I cried the other day because I saw a dog walking along the road clearly lost. I was ever so happy when I saw the panicked owner chasing up the road after.

@Hazandduck I'm a teetotaller too. But my friend guessed I was pregnant because I was subconsciously stroking my tummy - I had no idea I was doing this!

Hazandduck · 26/04/2017 20:04

Ah sock schoolboy error with the tummy rub haha!

My best friend messaged me yesterday saying she had a dream I was pregnant and asked if I could meet up with her Monday. I don't know how she knows, but I feel like she does. I've been avoiding her for weeks because I just can't lie to her so I've not seen her at all for her to be suspicious! Or maybe that's what gave me away?!

Hazandduck · 26/04/2017 20:05

Oh guys I cried watching Lady and The Tramp when Darling sang Lulaloo to the baby...these damn emotions Smile

@Nataliekirk I doubt anyone was upset and I suspect noone would want you to leave the thread. I hope you're okay, pregnancy hormones can make us a little sensitive. I've been a bit depressed so been quiet on here. I'm sure others will back me up on you staying on the thread x

butterybollocks · 26/04/2017 22:12

Agree with the above Natalie, no reason for you to leave. It's so easy to misinterpret or be misinterpreted online.

Mummyagain hope you're OK. Do you want to talk about how you're feeling?

DuRezidal · 26/04/2017 22:19

@Mummyagainmaybe I have a history of depression so take a low dose of citalopram full time now as my serotonin levels seem to be lower than normal when I come off them. I was on them with my last pregnancy but I have quite a strange and emotional job which I think adds to the stress and worry.

Mummyagainmaybe · 26/04/2017 23:07

I'll be okay guys. Think it's mainly financial worries.

@durezidal I was on an ssri a few years ago and it made me a bit manic. They don't seem to agree with me. I've been alright generally since coming off them. Think it's just the reality of the additional responsibility hitting home.

Hope they are without too many side effects for you. I know people who find them really helpful x

TeaAndPjs · 27/04/2017 11:56

Finally caught up :)

No pets here tho my 2 year old is acting weird!!

I've told my mum and sisters overheard and told a few close friends but that's all were telling at the moment!

All this talk of scans is exciting Tho I'm a little bummed about mine, I was suppose to be getting mine on 15th may but it's been put back to 5th June, I do have 1 a week today but not expecting good news as they've put me back 2-3 weeks and going by dates it's just not possible

theotherendofthesockportal · 27/04/2017 12:38

Can I get some opinions? I really really hate my job now. Would I be insane to apply for another job now?
