Thread #2, because apparently our "quiet" thread is rather busy! Grin

If you're new, do add yourself to the list so we can all see where we're at!

Help yourself to a Biscuit, here's to another month of chatting!

I've told my boss and my husband's boss also knows, because I had some bleeding and needed time off at short notice for a scan. Other than that, no one knows although I think some family members are suspicious.

However, one of my best friends is coming over on Sunday so that we can go horse riding together. I'm not riding at the moment (I fall off a lot at the best of times) and she knows me well enough to know that there would be no other reason in the world that I wouldn't ride, so I'll have to confess! I actually ended up telling her before family last time as she told me she was pregnant and I couldn't not tell her.

I'd like to hold out telling anyone for as long as poss but it will be a relief not to have to make excuses for not seeing family or cancelling work stuff. So we'll probably start telling people straight after the 12 week scan.

Hazandduck · 25/04/2017 17:35

I'm sure my sisters know! They just know me too well! Every time someone has commented saying how tired I look they've glanced at me and each other in that secret sibling type way! And over the weekend every time they asked if I wanted a cuppa if I hesitated or asked for decaf they raised eyebrows but didn't say anything. I am a total tea fiend, I will never ever turn down a cuppa so I know they know and are just being sweet and not pressing me to tell. Can't wait to tell them, my sisters are my best friends and it's weird not talking to them about it x

DuRezidal · 25/04/2017 17:38

I had my booking in appointment and now have a scan booked for next Tuesday when I will only be 11 weeks???

DuRezidal · 25/04/2017 17:43

Well 11w 6d

butterybollocks · 25/04/2017 17:46

Random question... Those of you with pets, do you think they know? I've got two dogs who definitely know something - one is keeping a close eye on me, the other is completely in love with me at the moment. They have both been snuggling up to me more than usual. My pony gave me a very knowing look last time I saw him (I can't really explain it but he definitely knew - if he could have given me a knowing wink he would have).

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 25/04/2017 17:47

I wouldn't worry @DuRezidal, mine is at 12 weeks exactly, so only one day later than yours.
They can actually get everything they need to from about 9 weeks, the reason it's at 12 is in case you've ovulated late.
Worst case scenario they will invite you to come back in another week

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 25/04/2017 17:49

@butterybollocks, I'm pretty sure the tropical fish don't know, but my favourite chicken has gone broody and the dog is being very strange with me.
I have a friend whose non spayed dog had a phantom pregnancy when she was pregnant so they must know something is going on

Foggymist · 25/04/2017 18:06

My animals never copped it last time, our dog adores our son but the cat unfortunately doesn't like having him here :(

DuRezidal mine is at 11 weeks too, which I'm only baffled about because when I had my appt in the hospital for 12 week scan with ds they said it was too early to see anything (on their ancient machine) and to come back at 14 weeks, so I'm surprised they've set it for 11 weeks now.

DuRezidal · 25/04/2017 18:07

Thanks @NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown

AGnu · 25/04/2017 18:33

No pets here but I know someone who's found out that several of her friends were pregnant because her cat ignores everyone who isn't pregnant. Apparently he completely blanks people until a pregnant woman comes in the house then he's under her feet or trying to sit on her! The first clue the woman had with both her pregnancies was that her cat suddenly became obsessed with her!

My cat is an indifferent sod haha, although as I type this he is sat on the windowsill outside staring fixedly at me. He absolutely adores my OH and only when he's not around clings to me, but I suspect when LO arrives he will be extremely jealous of OH paying anything attention over him! I know it's sad but we do mollycoddle him, we've had him since a kitten for 9 years now and it's always been the 3 of us so we showed him the scan pictures the other day, to which he blinked disinterestedly and continued to lick himself 😂

I think the nuchal scans can be between 11 and 14 weeks so I'm sure 11+6 will be fine.

I so can't wait to hit the 12-13 week mark. Each time I hit a milestone I need a new one to reach before I can relax...gonna be a long 6-7 months...

Zampa · 25/04/2017 20:09

DuRez My dating scan is at 11+4. I did ask the midwife if that was too early but she said no. As Nice said, they get you back in if the baby is too small.

Haz we had our dog 7 years before ds was born, they adore each other, it's so cute :) One of our cats has realised he's good for rubs so tolerates him! When we showed ds the scan pic he threw it in the bin Grin

Hazandduck · 25/04/2017 20:27

Haha Foggy wow to DS's reaction lol!

Aw that is lovely that your DS and dog love each other, and there was no jealousy from your dog. They really are man's best friend aren't they :)

TeaAndPjs · 25/04/2017 20:28

Just place marking as haven't got on in a few days so have loads to read back on!

Hope everyone is doing well ♡

Foggymist · 25/04/2017 20:42

Haz they are so sweet together, she's a dote but we were obviously still cautious, she's a big powerful dog when she wants to be but nope, total softies from day one with him.

Yeah in fairness ds is just gone 2, I just said "look it's a baby" because he was bored in scan room, handed it to him, straight over to the bin! Lol :)

Bearest17 · 25/04/2017 20:43

Thanks for the update Socks - hope you feel better soon!

Hazandduck · 25/04/2017 20:45

Aw how lovely. My parents have a boxer (as well as a sprocker and a Jack!) and he is the most gentle giant with my niece and nephew who are 3 and 6, and he's been around since the 6 y/o was a baby. I know you have to be sensible with animals and children, but it is amazing seeing how gentle dogs can be with them :)

theotherendofthesockportal · 25/04/2017 20:52

My two cats appear not to give to hoots that I'm pregnant. As long as I feed them and tend to all their other whims they are happy.

My parents annoying Jack Russell has noticed both times. He gently creeps into my lap and rests his head on my tummy. I might have to rethink his annoying status because he is actually quite sweet.

butterybollocks · 25/04/2017 21:04

Ha sock mine are both annoying jack Russells! One of the first signs of me being pregnant this time was the older one resting his head on my tummy. He is 7 so was 2 when I was pregnant last time and he insisted on sleeping in physical contact with me from the start of the pregnancy onwards. Other dog is 2 and a complete idiot so it's all new to him but he definitely knows something is going on.

Foggymist how lovely about your dog and your little boy.

Nicecuppa love the idea of your broody chicken! Is she laying extra eggs?

lydiangel83 · 25/04/2017 21:11

I'm not sure my pet tortoise knows lol! Telling BIL this week and then that's parents and siblings told, and then may tell a few close friends but that's it before 12 wk scan.

Have had increasing frequency of abdominal cramps, rang doctor and only way to get scan this week is to go private! So much for NHS!

Anyone used the Saxon Clinic in Milton Keynes? Doctor couldn't tell me how much they cost but will call tomorrow!

squadronleader87 · 25/04/2017 21:18

Hello

I'm a bit late to the party but would like to join in...This is my first pregnancy and I'm 10wks today. Still mildly overwhelmed by the whole thing - and very excited! I've had a booking appt and have a scan in 3wks.

So far we've told our families the news and a couple of very close friends. Main reason for sharing early is that I wanted to ask my mum things! My boss knows too because I have had a few rough weeks of morning sickness. It feels like we've known for ages and am looking forward to it not being a secret.

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 25/04/2017 21:19

Sadly she's gone the other way @butterybollocks, won't lay and won't get out of the nest box. Fortunately we have four more to pick up the slack!

Foggymist · 25/04/2017 21:22

Sockportal that doggy sounds cute :)
