Monty how lovely for you, your parents sound adorable. I've told a close friend and my mum (and my Hb let slip to his dad) but apart from that I'm trying to keen schtum. Not really sure why, as I'd tell everyone if something went wrong. Maybe it's because this way we won't get asked so many questions! I can't wait to share the news.

When did everyone else tell / planning to tell?

SushiNushi · 22/04/2017 19:01

queen I'd take Leigh's advice and just try and enjoy yourself. I didn't even know zika was in Vietnam, it sounds quite rare. If you do alter your itinerary, at least you have a baby to look forward to!

Angielka · 22/04/2017 19:05

Serena Williams won the Australian open when she was 8 weeks pregnant. I am 8 weeks today and I have:

  1. Thrown up twice
  2. Had a 90 min nap
  3. Eaten a bag of salt and vinegar crisps
  4. Dreamed about fast food
  5. Watched from the sofa as everyone else in this house carries on their normal life.
Confused
MontyPants · 22/04/2017 19:08

Sushi exactly, I'd want their support if something bad did happen. So I'm just being happy at the min. We told them by giving them mugs that said Grandma and Grandad on them, and waited for them to realise. Was very nice.
Do other people have plans for their announcements?

DoctorDonnaNoble · 22/04/2017 19:15

This will (hopefully) be number 2. Due to work/financial considerations, I'm hoping to not have to tell people for quite a while yet. If it goes wrong again I will tell some friends then and they will be ace. I didn't even make it to my midwife appointment last time!
I don't think we'll do an announcement as such just start letting people know.

Angielka · 22/04/2017 19:15

Really sweet idea Monty. I just told my parents straight out but this is number 3 so less novelty value Wink

Would quite like to do some kind of photo with my two DDs though, to mark it somehow

Chamonix1 · 22/04/2017 19:17

DH wants to order a "I'm going to be a big sister, due December 2017" for dd to wear to tell people.
We want dd to know before everyone else (bar a few friends that guessed) and want her to be able to share the news. Hoping it'll make the idea of sharing mummy and daddy easier.
Won't be telling people until 14 ish weeks when we are back from our holiday Smile
Spaghetti hoops for dinner tonight.
No.more.bread.for.cham!!!!!

MontyPants · 22/04/2017 19:18

Ang that sounds lovely. How about getting them t-shirts with Big Sister on. Or have them holding your 12 week scan pic?

Angielka · 22/04/2017 19:23

Yes, exactly monty, something like that Smile

Cham how are you managing to keep your state under wraps other than obviously being better at doing your makeup and not looking like an exhausted ghost like I seem to?? I'll be happy if I can stop all my colleagues guessing in the next week or so Blush enjoy the hoops! I had cheese on toast and am starting to regret it 🤢

Chamonix1 · 22/04/2017 19:27

Haha! Angielka! People are used to me looking like shit! It's not a pregnancy thing for me unfortunately!

FeedMyFaceWithBattenberg · 22/04/2017 19:30

I am eating pickled onions from the jar! 😍😍

Mrsbluebell17 · 22/04/2017 19:43

I managed salmon and vegetables and a small fishcake thing (clearing the freezer out!) but I've now got a desire to just keep eating Hmm

Thankfully my report is almost finished now. Thanks for the message henman.

fishfingerSarnies · 22/04/2017 19:49

Love the sound of all your announcements, this is baby number 3 and I just feel embarrassed to tell people I'm sure people will just think why the hell are we doing it! Ha
My mil and mum know, mil very happy and excited my mum a little worried for me as my pregnancy was tough last time but I think she'll be happy for us eventually!

leighdinglady · 22/04/2017 19:57

I'm not sure if im hormonal or genuinely feeling a bit crap. I'm anxious (about stupid things, like too many emails), I'm stressed and sad. Anyone else?

Mrsbluebell17 · 22/04/2017 20:01

So far we've told my parents and brother as we had to due to some other family stuff going on, my best friend, SIL, and a couple who we are really close friends with.

Trying to wait til 12 weeks scan has been done to tell everyone else but people are starting to suspect and ask and I feel guilty denying it but it's people who I know won't keep it a secret so I can't risk it at the moment.

For the announcement - we can't decide. We'd like to tell as many people as possible face to face as it's our first, but may have to devise some other way of telling some people too which is a bit different as I don't really like the norm! Wink

Mrsbluebell17 · 22/04/2017 20:02

Leighding I know that feeling but not from pregnancy. I suffer with anxiety often. The headspace app has been recommended to me for mindfulness. Is there something particular that's bothering you and causing the anxiety?

Hope you are ok Flowers

Angielka · 22/04/2017 20:04

Know the feeling fishfingersarnies it's like I'm expecting everyone to be like 'what? It was planned???' And yes, my parents were a bit quiet when we told them as it all went wrong last time.

Oh Leigh I'm sorry you're feeling like that. I definitely have bad days where it all seems a bit much. Can you pinpoint where the sadness is coming from?

TipTop333 · 22/04/2017 20:08

Leighding, what you are describing sounds incredibly familiar to me in early pregnancy and I normally don't suffer with anxiety. Blame the hormones. It's very unpleasant though, I hope it doesn't last long for you.

Angie your day sounds like my day except wotsits instead of S+V, and constant nausea instead of actually being sick. Wondering if I would feel better if I did actually be sick!

leighdinglady · 22/04/2017 20:13

Thank you all. I often feel like this before AF so imagine it's hormonal, although that doesn't make it less crap. I think I'm just really anxious following our last pregnancy ending badly so I've got it in my head it'll happen again. Then I think too much about it and it spirals round! However sometimes I have moments of thinking 'this ones definitely going to be ok', so bit mood swingy I guess!

Marie90 · 22/04/2017 20:20

GrowFins i think your post may have got lost amongst all the food chat food is 100% taking over our lives! Congratulations! I wouldn't worry too much about the drugs from the op, hopefully it was all too early for them to be of any sort of a problem but at least your midwife can give you some reassurance at your booking appointment! It's my first too, and although it was planned, i keep getting waves of omg what have i let myself in for 🙈🙈

Leighding your feelings sound totally normal (although that doesn't make them any more fun for you)! Blame the massive increase in hormones, general worry of early pregnancy, and exhaustion on top of it all and you're allowed to feel sad, stressed and anxious. Have you told your OH or anyone close to you how you're feeling? Take some time to look after yourself and have a pamper and i hope you're feeling better soon! Flowers

Loving all the food chat today! Been out with a close friend and her 1yo daughter today and got to talk pregnancy A LOT as i told her pretty early on! She got me a pack of Rich tea as soon as i walked in the door which was a godsend!! Still obsessed with strawberry nesquick, and gingerbread men atm!

As for telling my mum and dad, we've been planning for a while! My mum wrote a kid's book ages ago for fun so my OH is going to illustrate it and then the last page will say something like: This book belongs to Baby surname due Dec 2017.

Not sure i can wait another 5 weeks to share the news!!

Mrsbluebell17 · 22/04/2017 20:25

Marie that is such a lovely idea Grin

Je11yBe4n · 22/04/2017 20:35

Hello!
Am I in the right place? I'm due my second child 18th December!
Already have one DS (4).
Complete surprise as we were told two years ago we needed IVF, so we made the decision to be an only child family.
My last pregnancy was very complicated, Morning sickness until 28 weeks, surgery at 20 weeks and a whole lot of monitoring and worrying!
So far this time around, I have sore boobs. That's it!

Mrsbluebell17 · 22/04/2017 20:42

Congrats jelly. Very exciting and I hope this pregnancy goes more smoothly for you.

mamalovesviolet · 22/04/2017 20:57

Hello Jelly. Congratulations! Here's to a very uneventful 8 months or so. (I had pp last time with some big bleeds so also hoping for a routine pregnancy!)

CantHelpDancingWithTheDevil · 22/04/2017 21:03

I've been surviving on very little recently..

Now all I want right this second are proper chocolate Rice Krispie buns 😭

I don't even like Rice Krispie buns

I want all of the Rice Krispie buns 😭
