Wasn't planned as such, we decided to 'just see what happened'.

Zaberwocky · 21/04/2017 11:33

Wonder congratulations Grin I get what you mean about it being a bit lonely.

This one was very much planned, but to be honest we'd been trying so long it was still a bit of a surprise!

If an early scan will make you feel better, go for it. Smile

looby1304 · 21/04/2017 11:48

Congratulations wonder, you have the same EDD as me!
It was a slight surprise for us, I came off the pill last June and nothing happened, so we stopped actively trying and relaxed a bit in February this year, and then it happened!

Lixon · 21/04/2017 11:52

Annie, I hope all went well.

There was an emergency emergency at my EPU so a 1.15hr wait but worth it, saw a tiny little bean with heartbeat measuring 6 weeks right on track. Such a relief. Still sure something will go wrong but at least I can enjoy my birthday weekend without wondering if I've already miscarried..

Wonderfulstuff welcome! I am quite anxious so might book a private scan in 3 weeks in addition to my 12w scan (and NHS one today), but a very personal thing as to whether it helps/is worth the money.

Zaberwocky · 21/04/2017 11:58

Oh Lixon I'm so relieved for you!

And you can now have a lovely birthday!

Did they say to come back in 10 days if the bleeding continues?

DoctorDonnaNoble · 21/04/2017 12:00

Excellent Lixon

Beardy1 · 21/04/2017 12:05

lixon I am so relieved for you. I bet it was lovely seeing your little bean.

wonder we had also been trying for a while. We managed to conceive in Jan and had a MC so wasn't really trying to get pregnant and here we are. Exciting spew filled times

Thewinedidit · 21/04/2017 12:18

Hello can I join please? I'm about 5 weeks so EDD is 23rd December. A Christmas baby!

This is my 2nd but I have no idea how to go about arranging booking in. Was done after a gp appointment the first time. Do I just phone the gp or the midwife team?

TootsyBella84 · 21/04/2017 12:19

I'm so pleased your scan went well Lixon

When I picked my youngest up from nursery I found out he had porridge for snack, so here I am having porridge for lunch because it just sounded very appealing 😂

Mrsbluebell17 · 21/04/2017 12:31

So pleased for you Lixon! Great news!

Welcome to the new joiners!

Mrsbluebell17 · 21/04/2017 12:31

Thewine I had to fill in a form at the GP reception so they could refer me to midwife. Hope that helps.

mamalovesviolet · 21/04/2017 12:46

Wonderful news Lixon!

I filled out the self referral form on the hospital maternity website page. I can't be bothered to go to the GP - it'll take an age to get an appointment anyway!

TipTop333 · 21/04/2017 12:49

Excellent news lixon!

Just come in to see the thread covered in food chat. YOU ARE ALL MY PEOPLE. I'm definitely in the stage of early pregnancy where I am easily suggestible but I MUST HAVE IT NOW. A (very boring) conversation with DH yesterday about the numbers of different food franchises nationally (stimulating stuff, I know) meant I had to have a Subway immediately. So that was my lunch and I regret only getting 6 inches.

SamiZayn · 21/04/2017 13:00

Ah Lixon that's great news

I had the best lunch ever, chicken soup, one of those marmite cheeses, thick white toast and an iced bun. Delish and makes up for being up half the night with crazy toddler.

Wonderfulstuff · 21/04/2017 13:01

Thanks for the warm welcome Smile
Lixon - glad you got reassuring news.

I'm loving the food chat. Reassures me I'm not the only one having intense cravings/repulsions. I normally do Slimming World but over the last few days it's pretty much gone out of the window. Just eaten 3 rice cakes with big wedges of cheese. Man, it was good Grin.

Beardy1 · 21/04/2017 13:04

wonder omg rice cakes and cheese. I'm going to get involved in that. Nom nom nom

Zaberwocky · 21/04/2017 13:06

I managed half a small veggie wrap and half a bag of salt and vinegar squares 😂

I'm giving up with food entirely now. Evidently this baby is going to be fussy like it's bloody father.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 21/04/2017 13:12

Cheesy chips and beans. Couldn't face fish or scampi (both cheap and battered). That's school lunch on Friday.

Annie1290 · 21/04/2017 13:20

Went pretty well I think. Def not ectopic. Measuring 2/3 days behind which matches as my cycles were slightly longer than 28 days. Apparently I have one of the most awkward uterus' she's scanned. Had internal which she couldn't see a thing so then had to drink loads and have abdominal which she saw sack and yolk. Fairly happy but would have been more reassured to see a heartbeat.
Might end up booking a private one for 9ish weeks to reassure me cos I'm still so worried!

CantHelpDancingWithTheDevil · 21/04/2017 13:24

I'm surviving on about 600 calories a day..

Yesterday I had one of those M & S Thai Red Curry things which had about 372 calories, which I topped up with Birdseye Mediterranean Rice at 219 calories

Cannot stomach anything today; not even crackers - just about getting water and tea into me

I could probably do with losing a stone and at any other point wouldn't mind the lack of appetite but just hoping I can manage more in the coming days

Mrsbluebell17 · 21/04/2017 13:26

That sounds promising Annie. It's a personal choice re paying for a private appointment. I'm a worrier so I'm having on in a couple of weeks, but it's down to personal preference.

All this food talk is amazing but I'm definitely going through the 'I need to eat all the time' thing at the moment. I had an egg mayo and salad wrap for lunch and some salted hula hoop pufts, then a pear. And I'm still craving more food. What's all that about?!?!

On the other hand, as this is our first, I'm clueless on necessities we'll have to buy and how expensive everything is. My SIL was telling me all about pushchair shopping yesterday and what to look for. I realised I literally had no idea how much of a minefield it all is. Also, whilst this pregnancy was planned, it's taken 6/7 months to get here and I've realised now we should've been saving extra hard during that time let alone now. Maternity pay is rubbish Confused

Zaberwocky · 21/04/2017 13:29

CantHelp I'll be asking my doctor about my equally limited eating too in a bit. I'll let you know what they say. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about at this state though.

Have you tried smoothies/milkshakes/waters cup soups to try to up your calorie intake? That was recommended to me last time and it did make it a bit easier to at least get half of what I was getting. Not the healthiest option I know, but it could be worth a go.

Zaberwocky · 21/04/2017 13:32

Bluebell I have a spreadsheet if that'll help you 😂 ? I know what you mean though. It's like WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALL OF THESE COTS THEY LOOK THE BLOODY SAME!

We're tucking away an extra £400 a month now, which should top up the maternity leave savings pot enough for me to take a year out. I wouldn't panic though, you'll cope.

And SMP has gone up by £1.50 a week Grin

CantHelpDancingWithTheDevil · 21/04/2017 13:34

Thank you Zaber I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know what the doctor says -

I know it's alright to lose weight in the first trimester due to sickness and stuff; in fact I lost a lot with my DS but I was able to keep food down for 4/5 hours before throwing up, iykwim..

Whereas I've just no interest in food this time, I'm 5ft 1 and would normally eat about 1,100 calories a day - so even if I could get up to the 900 calorie mark I'd be happy, 600 seems awfully low and I don't want extra fatigue setting in

MaryShelley1818 · 21/04/2017 13:35

Really pleased everything went well Lixon and Annie!!
I'm still feeling just about normal which I'm sure is a good thing but just makes me more paranoid! Got early reassurance scan a week on Monday so going to be very nervous until then...x
