Ok, this is just NOT fair!! Surely there must be SOMEONE out there whose boobs also havent grown? I've just got a huge tummy and two tiny mozzy bites above it. I have to wear underwired bras or I'd just look like a fat man, and not a pregnant woman.
Puppie, you're not supposed to wear underwires as it blocks the developing milk ducts in your boobs.

TinaLC · 17/04/2007 12:41

Hello,

I haven't posted for ages as we have had no broadband at home for about 6 weeks (BT gggrrrr!). Hello to everyone I haven't met before.

I have added my scan date to the list below. Is anyone else having their baby at Kingston and having scans at Queen Marys? I don't mind as Queen Mary's has gazillions of parking spaces but I just wasn't sure why.

Just starting to enjoy pregnancy now having been sick for 16 weeks pretty much non-stop. Finally feel a bit more human. Now just panicking about pains when I cough (assume this is ligaments??? Can't find it in the book though) Don't laugh but is anyone elses bump lop-sided, especially in the mornings?...it is very weird. Might ask my GP at my check up tomorrow.

On maternity clothes I had a fantastic tip from a friend who recommended that a decent tailor/seamstress can put eleastic panels into the side seams of most skirts and trousers. She did this for her pregnancy and meant she had a wider range of stuff to choose from. Only works with cheaper cotton type stuff but I have had 2 skirts done and it is great. We are lucky having 2 small tailors shops in Richmond where I live (should add not grand "proper" tailors just people who do it as well as dry cleaning)but thought I would pass it on.

Hope everyone is keeping well and I have been reading your posts (sneakily at work) even if not posting myself.

MrsMar · 17/04/2007 13:06

Hello everyone!!!

Hi Jasper and welcome!

Sorry you're having problems with your appointments, I hope it all gets sorted soon.

luxmum - so sorry to add to the list but mine are huge!! but they were pretty big to start with so I'm not surprised about that. I've gone from 34/DD to 36/EE.

I'm not in underwire, I haven't been since about week 10, that's only for comfort reasons though. i was soooo uncomfortable in underwired bras, it was such a revelation when I finally got some that fitted and were comfy. Of course I look like Les Dawson now, but who cares???!! (whispers) i do!! ho hum!

Sparks - I'm already in b/f bras as they were the comfiest ones in the shop! I'm hoping they don't grow too big so that I can use them while I'm b/f.

Nicki, no leaky nipples yet, but dh was horrified last night when I told him it could start any time! Even more so when I explained what colostrum looks like!! hehehe!

Sprakly - sorry to hear you're down, I hope the house hunting goes well. I've had lots of funny and slightly disturbing dreams. I was told its because we're sleeping less deeply, so we're more likely to remember them when we wake up, apparently it prepares us to wake up quickly when the baby wakes up (or equally, nudge dh in the ribs to make him get up!!!) I used to dream about death a lot which scared me, until I found out that death is usually interpreted as change in dreams, which considering your circumstances isn't surprising. Try not to worry x

Rin - blimey!! at this rate we will end up in next door beds!!! Are you at TVC? When I had my capillaries looked at, the research fellow (Vivek is his name I think) said there and then that he thought I was a low risk. He explained to me that if you had above a certain number of capillaries in a small area of skin, it meant you were at reduced risk of developing pre-eclampsia. Its a long story but apparently they think p/e is caused by insufficient capillaries developing between the uterine wall and placenta. As the baby grows the body tries to compensate the lack of blood flow by upping your blood pressure. Or something.... I had lots of capillaries in my finger so if their theory is right, I'm at low risk of developing p/e. I'm sure if you email him, he can tell you your results too, it's pretty nice knowing! If you need his email address let me know.

I'm off to try and buy a new bathroom, gotta get it all sorted soon, or i'll be bathing LO in the kitchen sink (and smelling pretty bad myself!!) I hope everyone has a good day xxx

Nettee · 17/04/2007 14:14

Hello everyone - hope you get sorted with a hospital soon Poppy, can't believe your situation.

I have gone back to my nursing bras this week - should really get some maternity bras - I think I must have thrown the last lot out. No leaky boobs for me in fact they are a dry as they have been since ds was born, sure it will all come back in time for the birth though.

Hi TinaLC, lots of sympathy for all the sickness - isn't it lovely to be feeling better - must be great to have broad band back after all that time too.

I went to aquanatal today which was quite good except that it was a bit cold and my new maternity swimsuit isn't the most secure so I spent the whole time checking that I wasn't falling out of it - which I did at the beginning - hope it wasn't too long before I noticed .

Can't believe the 20 week scans are starting today - will be keeping an eye out for your news, honey

Kerri28 · 17/04/2007 14:49

Hello, please can i join your ever expanding list? I'm first timer due on 3rd September 07, just had 20 week scan which was AMAZING!!!! can't feel any movement, which given the size of the baby is unreal!!! was the BEST thing, seeing tiny baby moving and wiggling around, and seeing heart etc. could've stayed there all day and just watched!!!

Luxmum, i completely sympathise my normal (tiny) bras were too small for me so i jumped for joy and ran to debenhams to be told that am still tiny chested, just bigger round the back. nice. how to boost your self-esteem!! and i am NOT giving up inderwired padded bra's for a long time yet, no matter what the advice!!!

sophus · 17/04/2007 19:34

After yesterday's torpor been so busy today no time to catch up and off to yoga in a minute.
My boobs have grown a lot but not in proportion to bump so are looking smaller. My main problem is nipples that would show up through armour plating. I have to wear a double thickness bra, a thick cotton Muji vest (sooo sexy), and then a top, just to avoid shoving my nipples in people's faces. All in all makes me look like a bulgarian weight lifter. God knows what i do when it gets really really hot. Doesn't help that DP bursts out laughing whenever he sees them.
Great news that the scans are finally happening.
x

hannahsaunt · 17/04/2007 19:50

Went to JL today for bras - good news was that they do mat bras for £10 each; bad news was that I have gone up one size around the way and SIX cup sizes! Bigger than I was when I was bf the last time. Perhaps gestating an elephant.

More good news is that I haven't needed my buccastem since Saturday and haven't been sick (though heartburn is a bit of an issue again though can at least keep the gaviscon down now). Bad news though is that I've had a stinking headache for the last 24 hours. At least dh is making dinner .

Hope all are well!

J20BABYLOVESCHOCOLATEEGGS · 17/04/2007 20:02

hi all

just popping in from the oct thread, i'm due on the 3rd so may crash yours if baby's early.

mrs mar, my 20 week scan is on the same day as yours

hope your all doing well x

PurpleLostPrincess · 17/04/2007 23:47

Hello all, hope you're well

My boobs haven't really grown all that much - should get them measured though. I went up a few cups with DD so I'm hoping for expansion at some point (they are not that big). Also, no leaking as of yet... I asked DH to tell me when I start to look pg because I just feel fat and yesterday morning when I was getting dressed, he commented that I look very pg - not because of my bump but because of the size of my nipples LOL!

Honey2theb, hope your scan went well today?

Sprakly, I do feel for you! We are housing association and have been looking at exchanging for some time now but recently decided to put a hold on it because I really don't fancy moving whilst heavily pg. Then we got an e-mail from somebody who is interested in viewing our house . We're going to look but I've been honest and up front about putting things on hold. We'll have a look but I'm not keen on moving tbh! Hope you find something quickly!

Have been very broody lately as my SIL's baby is 6 weeks old and have been spending some time with him. Also, another friend had her baby and she is lovely too - can't wait to hold this lo in my arms!!!!

Well, I fell asleep on the sette at 9pm and woke up about half an hour ago - now I can't sleep!!! I thought I'd surf on mumsnet for a little while then try to get back to sleep. I dread it now though - each time I turn over my hips click and really hurt [squirmy ouch emoticon]. Have been really tired at work due to broken sleep - I guess it'll be much worse when lo arrives! Sorry for the long post...

Take care all xx

PurpleLostPrincess · 17/04/2007 23:50

TinaLC, I forgot to say that I too am having funny pains/stretchy feelings in my muscles when I cough or if I move suddenly. I think its just everything moving and stretching about but it can be concerning sometimes!

Glad your sickness is going - I've only noticed mine fading this last week or so too!

Also, welcome to all newbies xx

Rin23 · 18/04/2007 10:52

Morning all.
Does anyone know if midwife can listen to heartbeat? I don't have scan for ages, but I'm seeing the midwife next week and I'm really hankering after some reassurance that all is well. I thought I felt some movement a couple of days ago but it's all gone quiet, as it were, so now I think I imagined it.

MrsMar - I was told this by Vivek too, but I assumed that there was more to it as there are so many more tests to come (on the research study). Though it certainly offered some reassurance. I'm not at TVC, but at BH - big windows too I'm afraid, though it does get rather hot - not looking forward to long hot massive summer...

Also to those with muscular tummy pains - I definately get this too - sometimes when I just get up, etc.

Nettee · 18/04/2007 11:00

Rin23, yes I am sure the midwife will listen to the heartbeat. They can from about 12 weeks and usually do.

Hope everone is enjoying the lovely weather

TeeCee · 18/04/2007 11:05

Hi all.

Heard the heartbeat on Monday and feel great about having heard it. Such a massively great feeling.

Other than the odd headache and being a little more tired than usual I'm feeling increidbly 'normal'!

Haven't been wearing underwired bras since about week 8! Just found that instantly uncomfortable and couldn't wait to bust out (pardon the pun) the old maternity bras again.

There are so many school mums that are all pregnant as well at the moment. There are 5 reception mums, inc me, all due around the same sort of time! Makes me laugh how many September babies there are happening.

Oh - also, had it in writing from my hospital that they are guaranteeing me my home birth. My local MP contacted them and they rang me the same day and have now put it into writing, wohoooooooooooooo! So, so happy about that. I hated that uncertaintity before and just wanted someone to say 'yes you can have your ababy at home', and I have that now and in writing to!

MrsMar · 18/04/2007 11:30

Hi all,

Great news about the home birth teecee!

Rin - I hope you manage to get to hear your baby's heartbeat, I'm seeing my midwife this afternoon and going to ask her if she can have a listen. This waiting to feel something definite is horrible? I'm not sure what other tests we have done for the p/e screening, I'm seeing vivek just before my next scan, I guess he does bloods again and another urine dip. Not sure, but I'm sure you're right, there must be more to it than that. I'm in TVC, but we're supposed to be moving to BH in ooooh 2008...2010...2012?? Sometime!!

PLP and Tina, I've taken to holding on to my bump when I cough or sneeze, I get a sharpish pain when I do, and feel it's all going to rupture out of me (of course it isn't!) but I do feel like I'm going to pop when I cough or sneeze!! I guess it's my lax tummy muscles!

J20 - hello there, May the 17th is toooooo long to wait isn't it? I'll be 21 weeks by then.

Sophus - LOL at the nipples, mine are sooo big! I've given up trying to hide them (i've been wearing a lot of cardies and draping them casually over my nips!) and now I walk down the road with my headlamps flashing!!! Hopefully now I'm showing a bit people won't think I've got nipple tassles under my teeshirt!!!!

I hope everyone has a lovely day, I think I'm feeling a little movement, got that funny vibrating feeling just above my pelvis again, which I think is the baby. Can't wait for the midwife to get her ear trumpet (or whatever they use!) to hear him!!

Take care xx

MrsMar · 18/04/2007 11:30

Hi Kerri and welcome!!! I can't believe we're still growing!!

Pennypops · 18/04/2007 12:27

Hi all, just checking in after a manic few days. Glad all seems well for everyone - looking forward to hearing some more scan news. Big welcome to Kerri and jasper

Sophos - LOL at your nips issues! Isn't it lovely having such an understanding partner who laughs at you?? Mine is cut from the same cloth.

I had myself measured again recently as everything felt a bit tight - have gone from 36C to 40DD. Am quite liking them actually although next to my bump they still look pretty damn small. Like MrsMar I have been known to drop cake crumbs down my cleavage which my dh graciously offers to retrieve

Floss I did have to laugh at your story. My dh is from the "I love you I do" school of drunkeness which means he is incredibly annoying when he's trolleyed. It's a cross we will have to bear.

Hope everyone is feeling well and happy....

Gils · 18/04/2007 12:42

Hey all

When I went for my 16 week check up the midwife let me hear the heartbeat. So excited cause 20 week scan is on Friday and the two of us feel like we are on some sort of countdown.

Very sympathtic to nipple problems. I already had a very large chest and now dreading what size I might be by end of it all but I just can't seem to hide my nipples.

I sit furthest away from windows in my office and I'm always complaining its too hot but then I just get moaned at cause I have a light cardi trying to hide these darn things. You just can't win.

Rin23 · 18/04/2007 12:46

Sounds good - hopefully I will hear heartbeat next week then. It's good to hear everyone else's experiences - I'm feeling pretty energetic and, like Teecee says, "normal" which is great but made me a bit paranoid. Have also had headaches. MrsMar - hope you manage to hear it at your midwife appt - let us know.

Great news about your homebirth too Teecee, I'm quite envious. Though not dwelling on the birth too much at the mo as it's my first time ... Great to get it in writing, sounds like quite an achievement!

I find it amazing to think there might be more babies in September than usual. I think this has been said before but I suppose it's all the free time (and booze) around Christmas.

honey2theb · 18/04/2007 12:47

had my 20 week scan yesterday and im having a girl!!! was brilliant and so clear, its put my mind at ease a lot!!!

Gils · 18/04/2007 13:04

Congratulations on finding out sex. There are signs all over our hospital waiting room saying not to ask about the sex. I don't want to anyway, which is lucky I suppose!!

poppy34 · 18/04/2007 13:24

ok need some advice - told no beds available at either of my local hospital and I'm unlikely to get into my third choice so most likely offer is a hospital a fair bit furhter away that I no nothing about.

Alternative is home birth (have mixed views on this) or going private (my principles going compleely out window here but if that is only way I get a choice may be the option)

Can I ask your advice -

anyone know anything about Ashford and St Peters hospital? Website really bland and GP worse then useless on info (just kept saying well its neaeset and you can drive.....)
How do I make choice on home v private birth -neither really waht I want to do but can I have some different views on this.

others thougths appreciated as starting to cry (Again) just thinking about all this....
