newbieho · 07/04/2017 13:02

Congratulations @1004Rise , hope all goes well!

teainbed · 07/04/2017 13:12

That's great rise! Hopefully you can just pay packers to do everything and concentrate on you and the baby!

WishIWasSleeping · 07/04/2017 13:15

Congrats Rise! Moving earlier sounds like a better option. Smile

lullaby23 · 07/04/2017 13:31

ticky you mean up the lady garden path? Haha sorry.

I'm getting a double pram, although DS is a good walker he is slow and our walk to the shops is along a 3 lane busy road so I want the option to strap him down!

nurseb I found Sleepyhead useful, DS would go down in it from when I went to bed for a few hours and then we co-slept from first wake up until he went in his own room. Certainly didn't stop me from being responsive to my crying baby Hmm and we're still BFing after nearly 2 years... I have bought a bouncy chair that rocks this time as think it might be useful for brief periods when I need to sort out the toddler!

rise brilliant news on the house offer!

badger you could have a look at the Sarah Ockwell-Smith 'Gentle' books, Babycalming by Caroline Deacon or The Discontented Little Baby Book by Pamela Douglas?

PeachIcedT · 07/04/2017 13:49

That's great news @1004Rise and you sound like you've got a plan to make it happen.

I quite like the idea of the sleepyhead as it's so portable, if baby likes it I plan to move her around the house on it - I bought it second hand and then cleaned it all (it's all washable). @nursebickypegs I've only seen one sold in one nearly new sale, but there are loads on local FB selling groups for ~£60.

Bit of a rant but my midwife service is not impressing me. They prescribed me 4 weeks of iron at 28 weeks with absolutely no indication of how long in total I'm meant to take it for. So I take the whole course. Then at 34 week appointment midwife acts horrified that I've not had it for a week or two and says I must book an appointment urgently with the GP to get some more. What a waste of an appointment especially as I didn't even see the GP for the first lot. Instead I'm trying to go through the receptionist - I wish they could be a little more organised or at least not appear to blame me for stopping taking them! Goodness me sorry for the rant!

EsmesBees · 07/04/2017 13:52

Amazing news rise only 5 per cent of first babies come on their due date. Odds are you'll be fine.

FoxMulder · 07/04/2017 14:30

I'm wondering whether to get a sleepyhead too. Don't know the difference between the poddle pod and all the other ones though. Might wait and see if I want one after the baby is here. I totally can't imagine life with a baby!

MrsJW15 · 07/04/2017 14:37

Yay Rise, hope that all works out smoothly for you!

We got a Sleepyhead. I decided it must be worth it given how many people I know said they were essential in getting their baby to sleep!

1004Rise · 07/04/2017 14:49

Thanks all may have made it down from the ceiling now Grin Found 2 removal companies that could move our stuff into storage in the first week of May so more reassured now, just need their quotes to find out how much they cost. At least I'll have something to do in my first week of maternity leave Wink

I like the idea of the sleepyhead but we've held off buying one yet, we have a couple of gro-swaddles and blankets so we can try swaddling first. Sleepyheads are available on Amazon prime so if I have a 3am desire for one it's possible Smile

Peach can you try just asking for a repeat prescription, that's what I did and the gp just called to confirm why I was asking for them.

lullaby23 · 07/04/2017 14:49

fox I think the poddlepod is only recommended for day time sleep, isn't the purflow the new cheaper Sleepyhead version? It wasn't around when I bought mine.

newbieho · 07/04/2017 14:51

Second day of laundry

esme yep it's call DIY Dumpzone Chic Grin

Thanks lullaby will add those to list to see if library can order in.

We're getting a poddle pod to put in cot bed with side down next to bed nurse. I love the idea of co sleeping but still a little scared I may squish her. That may change ofcourse once she's here Smile

Badgerbird · 07/04/2017 14:57

Aha it was a purflow we were looking at getting lullaby! Thanks for reminder :)

Badgerbird · 07/04/2017 14:59

Currently in park car park laying in back seat of car trying to get baby to move whilst I wait for my friend!! If anyone sees me I look bonkers but I just got worried I haven't felt her much today Confused

Badgerbird · 07/04/2017 15:00

Damn anterior placenta Sad

newbieho · 07/04/2017 15:18

@Badgerbird maybe an ice cream could help? My boy always wakes up after I eat something really cold. Alternatively try something sugary/ cup of coffee. Hope the baby wakes up soon!

Teaspoon74 · 07/04/2017 15:28

Badger orange juice always works with me... and lying on my back with a cat on my tummy. First is probably easier in the car tbh ;)

savagehk · 07/04/2017 15:37

I think most of my fourth-trimestery-stuff came from the end of pregnancy/birth books. I'll have another look. I did like the Dr Sears ones but appreciate they may not be to everyone's taste.

rise amazing news congratulations. badger hope you get some wriggling soon

Am getting really fed up. Have been to the hospital today for growth scan. Sonographer starts conversation with why am I here? I explain mw sent me and she said I can't have a growth scan today because it's less than 2 weeks since the last one! At which point I nearly cried!!! She was lovely after that and gave me a quick scan to show me all was ok and I have rebooked for next Friday. At least DH can come next week as I was on my own today... He isn't allowed any more time off but luckily it's a bank holiday.
I am very very lucky to have a healthy baby... but every time I get referred back to the hospital for a scan I get very anxious that this time something is wrong and that is why they keep referring me back. Then everything is alright and I relax for a bit before repeating it after the next mw appointment.

Rant over... feeling a bit emotional today!!!

nursebickypegs · 07/04/2017 15:38

@Badgerbird when did you last feel Bub? I lie on my front to make him move! Also that's the exact same plan we have, I wish we had a bigger spare room for another double but it won't ever happen (in this house anyways)

@newbieho love the picture ❤️❤️❤️

@1004Rise and on the 7th day, our Lord created amazon prime for Mums of Newborns 😂 also well done on the house sale!!!!! What's the plan!!

@PeachIcedT same happened to me with iron tablets, I asked my MW for a blood Sample as I've finished my 4 weeks and she said it will come back that I'm still low, so keep taking it. I find my lack of continuity concerning.

Just nipped in to my clinic to ask about the breastfeeding consultant. They can't give me a telephone number for her, so I have to wait until Bub is born and then it could be six weeks. GAH!

EsmesBees · 07/04/2017 15:57

nurse that's ridiculous! There should be drop in bfeeding clinics around, plus the nct and LLL have peer supporters and consultants. Or you can always pay for a consultation privately.

EsmesBees · 07/04/2017 15:58

badger have you tried giving the bump a bit of a poke? Generally works here

savagehk · 07/04/2017 16:05

yellow nowhere near as your case, but I got home y/day to a letter from the hospital giving me a date/time for an antenatal appointment at the hospital...
I have my 36w check with my (community) mw at home (already booked), my 38w check with my (community) mw at the usual place.... and am booked in for a home birth (hopefully!)
What do they want me in for?! This one is about 37w... Figure I'll get nowhere even phoning as the person answering the phone won't know, so I'll just have to pitch up and see!

savagehk · 07/04/2017 16:07

(also got my hv appointment through for the pre-birth home visit. They're supposed to do it between 28 and 36w; I'll be 37+3 or so...)
