@EsmesBees I've looked online and found two BF groups nearby, so I'm going to pop in this week.

I mentioned in the other thread that DH got offered a promotion but it was in May when Bub was due. Well they have bought it forward, to next week and he's got to go Newcastle all week! Might cry. I'm allowed to be anxious aren't I? I'm so worried as that's my family in Norfolk, DH's family in the states and now DH in Newcastle. Ffs. I might ask my friend to be "on standby" if I need her as I'm just worrying now!!!

yellowismyfavourite · 07/04/2017 16:43

savage it's frustrating isn't it!!! I am much calmer now though and reminding myself how lucky I am to live in a country where they can do all these checks... I have lived abroad where women would love to be in this position. Just having a bad day I think!!!

savagehk · 07/04/2017 16:45

My pregnancy hormones are also well and truly kicking in now so things can easily get blown out of all proportion!

@dreamofhungarianlanterns good work on sleeping through!

I've probably said it before, but I'm so jealous of all of the gardens... I've spent the last few hours sat on my bed with the sun shining in. Thinking I might bribe DH into a trip to the beach this weekend...

@Tickyboovicki I've never been for a bikini wax and am debating it now that I literally cannot see what I'm doing. If I've just tidied up, how long should I leave it before I book in for one (7 weeks until baby arrives) 😕 and is it safe to have if I've never had one?

@nursebickypegs I've got a hair cut, pedi and prenatal massage booked in before bub arrives!

I'm with you on the cosleeping, neither DH or I would feel comfortable sleeping with her in our bed.

@Teaspoon74 NCT catch up was this morning and super lovely ☺ had to grab a lift with one of the other ladies as DH is working in Telford today bless him. Managed to sort the 3-6 month clothes into boxes when I got home and am chilling out watching TV now!

@1004Rise Fantastic news about the house! I hope you manage to get it all sorted and it's not too stressful!

Rustler74 · 07/04/2017 17:55

Hi all was trying to catch up and now I'm in the reply screen and I've forgotten everything!

@Badgerbird Did you manage to get some movement? I heard interesting fact about parking at your hospital. Apparently your hubby can get a 'permit stamp' when you're giving birth and place it behind windscreen so he can just be there with you overnight if need be!

@savagehk no idea why they want you in if you're planning a home birth?

Been to specialist midwife today (diabetic even if I'm not) and blood results were in from TFT. Turns out my tantrum from a few weeks ago about needing to see the endocrinologist was not so unreasonable! I should have been put on a slightly lower dosage of thyroxine already. Well she had to ask the specialist today anyway who said lower to 25mcg less every other day.
I went through birth plan with her (from NHS choices website) and she said I could really still go to midwife unit instead of having to go to consultant unit straight away. Only thing is they'll induce me on Friday 19 May so if it goes fast I may go home just before weekend which I'm dreading as I feel the community midwife and health visitor's visit would then be postponed until Monday. I'd like to 'negotiate' the induction date to after the weekend. Is that reasonable?
I booked today (at 33 weeks) to come to specialist on 4 May which is at 37 weeks, so basically term!
We are having a rather large baby at 90th percentile and already estimated at 2400g at 33 weeks... let's hope that they've over measured which the sonographer said they had done last time. Is there much chance? At least our sprout is still head down nicely!

Community midwife next Tuesday (different team) which will finally be someone I've met before, at my booking appointment.
Now sitting with feet up as they're a tad swollen after being up all day and sitting at desk doing all my mandatory training. Sprout is wriggling nicely and I'm doing some singing with backing track! Loving it!

Sipperskipper · 07/04/2017 18:02

barnes so sorry to hear that, how incredibly sad. I can only echo what others have said, and just to let them know they are in your thoughts.

rise brilliant news on the house sale!

yellow sounds incredibly frustrating, I would certainly be getting stressed!

No plans for co-sleeping here. I sleep like a log, all over the place, and would be paranoid. Have bought the snuzpod next to bed crib thing, and plan on using that with the side up, but it has a little mesh window you can see through. Have bought a sleepyhead as thought it would be useful for naps around the house / garden etc, but also plan to swaddle.

Am leaning more towards a routine for sleep / feeding, as much as possible with bf on demand anyway. Will be flexible but going to try & get into some sort of routine as early as possible. Worried about going back to work & baby still not sleeping. The thought of prescribing big doses of opiates on 1-2 hours sleep is panicking me already!

FoxMulder · 07/04/2017 18:10

So. Anyone finish work today??

WishIWasSleeping · 07/04/2017 18:22

No Fox... my huge baby and I still have 3 weeks to go at work!
I'm considering trying not to eat so baby doesn't get any bigger!
I haven't just eaten a large portion of mint viennetta...Hmm

yellowismyfavourite · 07/04/2017 18:28

rustler I was told yesterday that the midwifes are around at the weekends for postnatal check ups only here you visit them at clinic at the hospital instead of them coming to your home like they do in the week

vanilla8 · 07/04/2017 18:32

Well another working week done, Friday commutes are the worst- everyone finishes that little bit earlier!

My midwife appointment situation has not moved anywhere so I emailed PALs today.
I seem to have slipped the net from being referred to the community midwife team! Mainly down to having all my antenatal care so far at one trust (Broomfield Hosp) and they apparently referred me last November after my booking appointment to Brentwood Community Midwife team (which is part of North East London trust) however I never received any contact from them and didn't know I needed to have!
I continued to have all my appointments at Broomfield - anti D at 28 weeks and consultant at 32 weeks, and only now i was told I see community team, so have no 34 week and onwards community midwife appointments!

I have left two voicemails this week for them and no reply Angry
Not going to let it stress me too much and going to enjoy this weather and get some rest.

We bought the sleepyhead off Amazon a few months ago, the reviews seem so good so thought it was a must buy if it helps with getting some rest.

Lovely seeing everyone's clothes drying on the line, I hope to get the nursing chair we picked up off eBay cleaned this weekend, any tips welcome, I was thinking of trying the steam cleaner on it.
Oh and must pack the hospital bag!!

1004Rise · 07/04/2017 18:33

I think I may have to go out send DH for ice-cream, I don't really like ice cream and it's definitely not ice-cream weather. I've flipped!!

@nursebickypegs ha ha on the 7th day! Wink

@FoxMulder no.... still 3 weeks to go, but next week is four days, week after is 1 day and last week is full week so only 10 days really Grin

Sipperskipper · 07/04/2017 18:44

rise I've just eaten 2 magnums....

MrsJW15 · 07/04/2017 18:51

Argh what a mess. So I mentioned that the midwife told me tests had shown I had thrush a couple of weeks ago but no one told me... and they'd run out of canesten so I'd need to go to the GP.

Went to the work GP today who assured me i could get it over the counter. Went into Boots after work who wouldn't sell it to me! Because I'm pregnant...

GP has just (amazingly) done a phone prescription and I'm stuck by work waiting for it to come through by email to Boots Angry

I'm at my parents until Wednesday so wouldn't have been able to see my GP for a few days. All so frustrating!

And DH is stuck at work tonight so our plans have just been cancelled... where's the gin ice cream.

1004Rise · 07/04/2017 19:13

Oooo @Sipperskipper what flavour?Envy

@MrsJW15 ice cream is definitely a gin substitute.... Hmm

MrsJW15 · 07/04/2017 19:19

Rise I think peanut butter Ben and jerrys may be the only way to redeem this.

I'd intended to go to the outdoor pool but spent an hour and a half hanging around boots instead!

RasperryInAMelon · 07/04/2017 19:23

@Sipperskipper 🙋🏼 I'm hoping to be a routine mummy here too...

@WishIWasSleeping now you've mentioned Vienetta I can see DH having to go out later. I've got a horrible feeling I could be stuck in the bath until he gets home 🙈

FoxMulder · 07/04/2017 19:23

Fuck yeah to Ben & Jerry's but brrr to outdoor pool

PeachIcedT · 07/04/2017 19:30

I wish it was my last day today but I have to push through another 3 weeks. Realised why I'm so tired when I get home, because I'm still walking 5 miles a day! There is also terrible air flow at work so it's very stuffy and all I have to wear work wise are all very warm. Got home and couldn't wait to throw on a cool summer dress (which miraculously I still fit in). So the ice cream, especially the Ben and Jerry peanut butter, is a wonderful thought! Very sadly I have to work tomorrow morning through what looks like another lovely day.

BouncingBlueberry · 07/04/2017 19:56

What I wouldn't give right now to have some Ben n Jerrys. Stupid GD. Enjoy your scrummy ice creams and have extra for me!

Sipperskipper · 07/04/2017 20:00

rise - almond, heaven!!

MrsJW15 · 07/04/2017 20:05

3 weeks left here as well Peach although I finish on a Thursday and Easter means it's 12 working days. My office is insanely hot as well - so uncomfortable and tiring!

Tickyboovicki · 07/04/2017 20:27

raspberry I don't see why not! As long as there's a few weeks growth it should be fine. Might be a bit sore if it's your first time, but I haven't found it anymore painful since being pregnant. Don't see any reason why it wouldn't be safe though 😊

1004Rise · 07/04/2017 20:41

@Sipperskipper less Envy of almond than I would have been of double caramel Grin

Badgerbird · 07/04/2017 21:46

Thanks for all the suggestions and checking up on me Lovelies!! So after lots of jiggling her around and drinking cold fizzy water and laying on my side to no response I gave in and ate 2 doughnuts (oh the hardship!).... Well, the sugar woke her up!!! Little monkey Smile

Thanks savage I'll have a look for those books.

rustler we live about 20 doors from the entrance so no need to drive there :) I can see our house from maternity unit! Funnily enough I'm working in your neck of the woods these 2 weeks. Such a nice town/city. I see we aren't EDD buddies anymore. How do you feel about being induced earlier or did you know it would be much earlier than 26th? Glad you got thyroxine sorted.

Not finished work yet here either. Working part time still. Planning to start mat leave beginning of May which reminds me I must get my mat allowance paperwork sorted!!

Now..... where's that ice cream? Halo

Rustler74 · 07/04/2017 22:28

@Badgerbird wow that's handy! I wish we could come say hello whilst you're here! Love where we live, such character and a great city St Albans!

No I wish I could stick with my due date or closer to it than being induced as early as a week before due date... I'd like to give our baby a chance to pop out at its own initiative!

Got done 4th trimester chapters in my and OH's pregnancy books. I'm lucky that I handle many babies so picking them up won't be an issue but tbh I'm apprehensive about being wholly responsible for every single aspect of sprout!

Saying that, ill also miss the movements inside me, even if some kicks take my breath away!
