@FoxMulder exactly, and that's what is putting me off. I saw a gadget in babies r us that rocks the baby, and I was like is rocking your baby such a problem we need a gadget for it?

FoxMulder · 07/04/2017 11:18

Nah, I love it!

Badgerbird · 07/04/2017 11:33

stationary 2 cakes sounds like a brilliant idea. One for you, one for baby Smile

barnes that is a very sad situation. I'm no expert but would have thought maybe going along and waiting in car/cafe could be an option as others have said. Or the personal card as nurse mentioned Flowers

rise can you rub down cot then wax it rather than paint? Or there are water based wood paints with low voc that I use as we have been doing diy since before I was preggo!

Badgerbird · 07/04/2017 11:40

Mighty this photo's for you Smile Baby's nursery at the minute....

Glad you've decided to not give a shit, it's stressful enough as it is and your brilliant mum status has nothing to do with how ready your house is and everything to do with you being yourself and loving and caring for your baby as best you can Brew

@nursebickypegs finding a bloomin' bouncer without battery powered motion is proving difficult this time! Ugh.

Another one in the pick it up camp. My motto was pretty much if it cries, feed it. Of course if you have colic or whatever this is more difficult, but I think comfort from a parent/caregiver much better than 'substitutes'. First was a very settled baby (probably mostly personality rather than what I did) but can't think that feeding on demand, carrying in sling, cosleeping did any harm...

Talking of holding and loving baby.... which Fourth Trimester book do you all recommend?

Tickyboovicki · 07/04/2017 11:56

@MissMooMoo ooh exciting news about potential baby shower, especially if it means you get to see your friend! One of my best friends lives up north and I haven't seen her since my wedding so miss her like mad!

Also random question that I'm sure has been asked by when's the right time to get measured for a nursing bra? Seems to be a lot of conflicting advice online!

Also just been for a routine bikini wax (sorry - tmi!) and she was so helpful, so next time I book just book for a Brazilian but explain I just want more off the top & underneath as I'm having a baby. Apparently much nicer if I end up needing stitches anywhere! Although I know we have a resident waxer in here so correct me if she's leading me up the garden path 😂

FoxMulder · 07/04/2017 12:00

I didn't know there were 4th trimester books Barnes! I like The Gentle Sleep Book though.

FoxMulder · 07/04/2017 12:01

Ouch ticky I would have thought waxing while pregnant would be super painful. Is it not?

WishIWasSleeping · 07/04/2017 12:07

@nursebickypegs - sounds a lot like the donkey. (How do they come up with these names?!Grin)

I'm trying to convince myself that I don't need a double... DD has her own wayfarer (in lime green! I love it!) and once this humongous baby is out (actually getting really nervous about that bit now!) carrying it a bit higher might just be easier... and we still have the carrycot for the wayfarer for around the house.

I'm knackered and DH has decided we're having a BBQ tomorrow... so much cleaning needs doing! Confused

1004Rise · 07/04/2017 12:11

@Barnes79 as others have said it's a very hard situation, I read it as you shouldn't feel obliged, but it sounds to me as if she's at home so it would be hard for you to go and wait for DH to work out the situation. I totally get that you want to be there for him so it would also be difficult to send him off on his own.... My usual advice of toss a coin to make a decision seems trivial but works for me.....you don't need to stick to what the coin says but it helps you realise what you believe is the wrong answer. Flowers

@savagehk we found finding a bouncer really hard too... finally found one that mothercare were selling off cheap (presumably because it doesn't have vibrations or music or feed or change the baby Hmm) and grabbed it! Picking them up just seems like the obvious choice since that probably need fed or changed anyway!!

@MissMooMoo ooo sounds good if you get to see your friend, we're all waiting for the surprise nowCakeBrew

@Badgerbird Ooo wax is also a good idea, never thought of that. I have no idea when I'm going to do this but at least if I have a plan I can deviate from it! Grin

EsmesBees · 07/04/2017 12:13

nurse I loved the sleepyhead. Meant she could sleep in our bed and I could sleep too (I couldn't relax with proper co sleeping, I'm a terrible sleeper). But I don't see it as a substitute for being held. Mine was constantly attached to me when tiny and it hasn't done her any harm.

Badger I see you are going for a similar nursery theme to us. It's all the rage!

Think I might have started nesting. I've spent my morning off so far tidying and organising dd's toys and clothes.

nursebickypegs · 07/04/2017 12:15

@savagehk our baby bouncer has a vibrate option which the cats love, haha. My plan is sling, feed if he wants it, cuddles and "co-sleep" if I can; I think I might sleep with him in bed during the day and when DH is home, Bub can be in the next to me. I'm worried about all 3 of us in a bed; MIL is a HV and has scared me half to death, and DH and I aren't small people (not saying we are huge but we aren't pocket sized!)

@Tickyboovicki oooh I need a wax! I'm very fair so my legs and armpits never have hair. I need some pampering!

Speaking of pampering, I've booked at the end of the month to have my hair cut, eyelashes dyed and eyebrows waxed. It's like I'm off to battle and I need to look my best.

@WishIWasSleeping lime green sounds AMAZING! Our friend (I say ours, it's DH's!) says that toddler won't sit in the buggy with his new born sister, so the basket is on all the time and he wants to be walking about. Toddler is a bit older, about 2-3, so has that feisty streak in him!

Teaspoon74 · 07/04/2017 12:16

Nurse agree! Got back late the other night and seeing by the coop. Bought a healthy chicken noodle soy ginger thing and a pack of chocolate shortbread fingers.... guess which got eaten?! & nice picture!!!! ;)

MissMoo nice laundry! And what a lovely thing for your OH to sort out ;). I'd quite like a get together/ baby shower, but would feel awkward arranging sthg for myself. I think it's really sweet of him to try and keep you in the dark too (unsuccessfully by the sounds of it Smile).

Barnes that's such a hard one. I'd say you're right to think about the sensitivities of their aspirations and their current circumstances. But also, if you counted and got on then the "opt out" offer could just genuinely be a desire to not add stress to you at the moment. Could you give a small note or sthg via your OH, saying what you put in your post - that you've always felt a bond, are sad you didn't spend more time, feel for her and her family and to. Depending on her reaction, your OH could call you up or take you back another time to say goodbye?

Mighty just keep thinking "nearly there!!" And defo high five for your Uber driver!!!

Rasperry take it easy today - or is it your NCT lady catch up?

Stationary strawberry wine?!? Sounds yum! Homemade? Can't wait to get back on the wine and pimms now the sun is starting to show!

Wish Wink wobbly is fine. And wowzers on bubs' size!! I had my 34wk growth scan on Weds and she measured around 4.4lbs. Quite a difference!!

Shini I think I've felt a bit of engagement too, but think my bubs is "dipping" as the discomfort stays low for a while then lessens for a day or so. Is yours constant?

Peas sounds like you had a lovely anniversary - well done for making/taking time out for yourselves!

Autumn so glad you've been seen and they are now monitoring you!!

Redblu hope you're taking it easy. So much more important than an extra week in work at this stage!!

Rustler glad the scan went well - we're getting closer!! Eeek Confused

Newbie loving the supervisor pic!!!

& thanks Peach & Yellow - so relieved at the turn!

Badger sounds like lke a relief to be done there!!! And yeah Rise, Autumn, Sipper, Lullaby 🦊 is a lovely part of my world ;). It's an urban area Nurse (zone 4 London, East Greenwich) but we do have lots of green space nearby too. Come & visit anytime and I'll introduce you!! Grin

Re my drunken candidate - seriously: beyond belief! I actually went and checked the bin (and sanitary bins) in the ladies as I'm convinced she had a sharpener when she went to the loo between her practical and the IV!!

On the upside, we (the panel) then spent the next 25 minutes scoring and calibrating (as we always would) but howling with laughter. Literally all three of us crying as we recapped the IV. Actually a lovely way to finish the working day ;)
*

Ticky* - really want an ice cream now!!!

nursebickypegs · 07/04/2017 12:17

@EsmesBees thank you! Only one person has suggested the sleepyhead to me, I think she said she had a poodle pod? Poddlepod? She said it really helped and wish she had it for her older children. My Grandpa has offered to give me amazon vouchers (he knows he can get them from Sainsbury's, god bless him) so I might put it towards it. Also I don't see them pop up in second hand/nearly new sales either, probably because they are so expensive!

coxsorangepippin · 07/04/2017 12:18

savage we got a bloom coco lounger very cheaply second hand, it's just a sheet of bent plywood but seems well balanced so you can rock it with a toe.

Re gadgets that simulate being held - for sleeping that sounds perfect to me! I know falling asleep with a baby on me isn't safe so if I can fob baby off with a sleepyhead to keep safe that sounds pretty good Smile then hopefully a wrap for awake-time.

nursebickypegs · 07/04/2017 12:20

I'm also getting "engagement", it's such a weird sensation. MW on Tuesday showed me his positioning so now I know what's his bum, legs and head. The engagement always seems to happen when I'm walking or cleaning, and suddenly I have to pee. I peed about 100s times yesterday!

@Teaspoon74 it's so much easier to scoff biscuits!! I swear my good nights sleep was down to me eating properly (and the bagel at bedtime) so I'm going to try again today.

The fox scares me! I have no clue what I would do 😂

Teaspoon74 · 07/04/2017 12:24

Nurse - yeah, the peeing isn't fun either!! And seriously, Foxy is more skittish of me and the boys (furballs) than vice Verda. Does this lovely little head tilt thing... v cute!

Tickyboovicki · 07/04/2017 12:24

@FoxMulder surprisingly no more than it was before I got pregnant, and it makes me feel semi human, like I'm doing something for myself!

@nursebickypegs I'm hoping to get eyebrows & hair etc done over the next few weeks so I can at least pass for semi human for a little bit after the birth!

yellowismyfavourite · 07/04/2017 12:28

barnes sorry for your situation. I dont really know what to say that others havent already as there really is no right answer... just do what feels right at the time for you and your DH
shini I think mine keeps bouncing up and down... sometimes I feel loads of pressure sometimes not. Mw says 3/5 engaged... same as 2 weeks ago!!
nurse I love that picture... what a lovely idea!! I might send something similar to DM but how do you put the writing on it?

teainbed · 07/04/2017 12:36

Don't forget swaddling! Obviously do your research and decide if you feel comfortable with it - but babies have been swaddled for thousands of years. And it's virtually free you just need a sheet or thin blanket unlike an expensive pod or cocoon thing. I swaddled my three and it really worked for us. That said I would spend any money on a device if I thought it would work. Grin

1004Rise · 07/04/2017 12:45

Oh /&)@;;!/!&3'u>€|$¥]{?!{'m ShockShockShockGrinGrinGrinGrin

We've had an offer for full asking price on the house!!! Only issue is that the date they've suggested is the 18th May.... what am I supposed to be doing on the 17th, oh yes giving birth ShockConfused Don't really want to put them back as that could mean DH being up here supervising and me 200 miles away going into labourBlush

Cue me frantically now trying to find removals company that could do pack and move our stuff into storage the week of the 1st of May..... then we could still get out and stay with my DPs before DH starts his new job and just leave the lawyers and the estate agents to get on with it.

It's only been on a week, wasn't supposed to happen this quickly, it's awesome that it has but there's now no hope of me concentrating properly on work today.Blush

If I had the energy I'd dance round the lounge!! Confused

Tickyboovicki · 07/04/2017 12:48

@1004Rise congrats on the offer! And absolutely go for it, timings never perfect & baby won't know what's going on either way!
We're currently probably moving first week of may, and I'm due the 2nd, so hoping baby's comfy for a little longer

Badgerbird · 07/04/2017 12:50

Wooooohooooooo rise!!!! Blimey that was quick!! Yes exciting and yes a lot to do and sort out! ConfusedGrin Sounds like a good plan to get everything sorted asap, move to dps and let agents deal with it.

It was me who was asking about 4th Trimester books as I'm really interested in it but there are lots of books to choose from but not me who had the bikini wax Smile I'm still blind shaving that area!!

FoxMulder · 07/04/2017 12:54

Wow rise! That's awesome!
