Reading all your stories about your OH's has made me want to share mine! Where has this soppy emotion come from?
We met 3 years and a half years ago and clicked instantly, only problem was he lived an hour and a half drive away. 5 months into the relationship my father died very suddenly and unexpectedly. I rang to tell my OH what had happened and he was with me within the hour. I knew he was the one. I moved over here that summer as I had a big thing in life's too short and we lived in a beautiful apartment. Got a mortgage a year later than that. For his 30th I paid for him to go to Canada mountain biking and when he came home we had an oops moment and here I am 33 + 4. We aren't married, he did suggest it when we found out I was pregnant but I have lots of fears of marriage. My mum and dads marriage for the last 15 years before he died wasn't great but neither of them would admit to it not being great. They just stayed unhappy and I'd hate that.

Brightsmoke · 10/04/2017 08:11

Thanks Dream, it's just part of life that we have to get on with, it does worry me though as he will try and help when baby is here and just end up in agony. I've told him if I have to stay in overnight, although he's allowed to stay, it's in a chair, so he might as well go home and get a better sleep, he lives on steroids so a good sleep is never possible 😂

Love the idea of changing your names too!

Nurse, my DH has a disease called sarcoidosis, it's horrible and he's permanently in pain and being an engineer, works bloody hard which doesn't help :(

My DF is convinced my baby will be born May 4th, and as a result, is already nicknamed chewbacca 😂🙄

Men really are so thoughtless sometimes Barnes hopefully he's learnt his lesson now though!

Wish, 28/04 is DH birthday too! He says baby can't be born on that date as he's not sharing parties 😂

Love all the relationship stories. I just hope me and DH stay best friends when the baby arrives. We're both normally so chilled out that we hardly argue, can see me turning very PFB with baby and pissing him off though 🙈

lullaby23 · 10/04/2017 08:28

28/4 is my toddler's birthday so an excellent day! However

teainbed · 10/04/2017 08:30

Have you all got baby names sorted? I've got loads of girls names but no boys ones I like!

lullaby23 · 10/04/2017 08:33

Oops dropped my phone and it posted. However nurseb I'm going to say 15/5

I'm not a huge Star Wars fan but bought DS a tshirt from primark which we wore to music class today and two people said "hello bb8" and I didn't understand until they explained that was the robot's name 🙈

I think vag pops is definitely taking things a step further than fanny peas!

Love the partner stories. Met mine at 25 (he was 23) through work, I thought he was nice and tried to get him to meet for a drink but he didn't seem interested. Bumped into each other again just over a year later and he drunkenly added me on FB at 2am and we started exchanging messages and finally went out and that was it. Got engaged at 28 married at 30 baby 1 at 33 and this one at 35.

Barnes79 · 10/04/2017 08:45

I can't remember who is the Star Wars fan, but Mothercare have Star Wars themed baby sleepsuits e.g. R2D2 with a matching hat and darth Vader.

Rustler74 · 10/04/2017 08:55

Great stories all of you! @Sipperskipper loving your thought hmmm can't remember you being this hot! Got me in a giggle which made my OH ask me why I was laughing!

As I've been married but he hasn't been, I thought he'd be keener but when we went to a wedding in beginning of September last year (where I drank some wine even if I must have been pregnant already!) he was saying that he was worried about getting married as he does not want to get a divorce ever! I was quite astonished at that, as apart from his mother and biological dad, (and his brother but that's a separate case altogether) he hadn't experienced much of an unhappy relationship. And he was tiny when his mother ran away with him, but it must have made a very big impact on him somehow!

Then when we found out we were expecting, only 2 weeks later, he changed his mind and his will in favour of our baby. He now thinks we will get married although we aren't engaged yet!

coxsorangepippin · 10/04/2017 09:00

Who is it on this thread was gearing up for a wedding a week or two ago? Maybe the thread moved so fast I missed it. I was looking forward to a photo!

MissMooMoo · 10/04/2017 09:16

I haven't had a chance to update all weekend but I did indeed have a baby shower! It was on Friday evening and nice and relaxed. Buffet and drinks with a cake and games. My bestfriend came down from Scotland and stayed until Sunday afternoon. First time we have spent childless time together in 7 years, and probably the last for a while!

@MissMooMoo awww what a nice surprise sounds like a very relaxing one, and good to see your friend too.

@teainbed we have a list for both a boy or a girl each about 15 long and none that either of us are particularly drawn to.... Its really hard!! Confused

@BouncingBlueberry you paid for OH to go mountain biking in Canada?? Will you marry me? (Once I can actually get back on a bike) GrinGrinGrin

@dreamofhungarianlanterns still laughing at the pulling baby out by the foot Wink

BouncingBlueberry · 10/04/2017 09:37

@1004Rise if you ever fancy mountain biking in the Peak District let me know. He owns a shop and hires out Trek bikes. He's got some pretty swish electric mountain bikes that make it so much easier. It's a bit of a running joke that baby will come out being able to ride.

1004Rise · 10/04/2017 09:47

@BouncingBlueberry awesome, I have to say we may have spent as much time looking at scoot bikes as we did at prams.... Blush ride before walk is much more important Wink

MrsJW15 · 10/04/2017 10:32

MissMoo that sounds lovely! What a great surprise.

Teainbed we thought we had a boys name although I started worrying about it last night... I think we have a girls name although we've been very indecisive.

I'm at my parents for a few days (just the other side of London) but hardly slept last night. Eventually fell asleep after DH had got up for work but rolling myself up in the duvet!

And (major TMI) this morning during breakfast either the last bit of my pessary appeared or the first bit of my plug... Hope baby stays put a while longer!

Brightsmoke · 10/04/2017 10:32

Funny you say that Blueberry & Rise, this arrived in the post this morning. However, ours is for motorbikes, I don't understand the non engined version 😂

nursebickypegs · 10/04/2017 10:42

So just been for our scan and appointment; I'm 32+6, he's measuring 37weeks and is 6lb3. The consultant called it "amazing", while I say it's scary!

I have to have my GTT again; I had pancreatitis caused by gallstones in 2009 so he thinks my pancreas is being naughty again. I have to see him again in May 8th with either 9/05 or 17/05 in mind for him being born. He wouldn't entertain May 4th!!!! Grin

I'm so worried about how big this baby is!!!

teainbed · 10/04/2017 10:49

MissMoo that's a lovely surprise! What a treat.

nurse it's good that the weight is decent though. Don't say if you prefer not to but what is expected when your baby is born? Will you be expecting a spell in NICU or surgery or does it depend on how they are when they are born?

nursebickypegs · 10/04/2017 11:18

@teainbed they told me today that if he was born now, I am to expect NICU. When he's born they are doing to check him over, and make a plan. Sounds silly but I remember a boy at school who had a heart condition and has a scar from his clavicle to his navel. I just keep thinking of that. BUT!!! They told me to stay positive.

Look at his angry face.

RasperryInAMelon · 10/04/2017 11:20

@nursebickypegs Ezra is a lovely name ☺

@teainbed before we found out what we were having, we had loads of boys names and were sure we were having a boy. Turned out we're having a girl and have very few names that we can decide on. We have a Polish surname and an Italian middle name but are thinking we want a pretty British first name 🙈

@1004Rise We too have a list, but I think we'll see what DD looks like when she arrives and go from there ☺

@MissMooMoo how lovely! I'm pleased you had a good weekend and catch up with your friend. My SIL is planning a little get together for the end of April which will be nice, but I have no idea what to expect.

@MrsJW15 Forgive me for prying what are you having a pessary for?

My legs are in agony today 😔 all that walking left me with weird purple patches on my calves - I'm guessing it's something to do with poor circulation?? Feet up for the morning, but I promise I'll get up soon 🙈

MissMooMoo · 10/04/2017 11:33

We have a boys name picked but nothing apart from a middle name for a girl!
Really dont think it is a girl but you never know!!!
DH and I went on the hospital tour yesterday. The birth centre is LOVELY and looks very calming and welcoming. They have 9 rooms all with birth pools.
If you decide to go there you labour and deliver and stay in the same room until you are discharged home. DH can stay with us 24/7 and there is a double bed and en suite bathroom.
Really hope I can have baby there.

nursebickypegs · 10/04/2017 11:38

@MissMooMoo that sounds amazing!!!

MrsJW15 · 10/04/2017 11:55

Raspberry stay sittng with your feet up! Sounds like poor circulation but keep an eye on it.

Pessary was to treat thrush - I put it in Friday night so I'm surprised if it's still coming out this morning, but I've never had one before.

MissMooMoo that sounds great! We have something similar at our birth centre - sofa beds in the room and DH can stay with us. They are not keen on other visitors though and want you out fairly quickly. And there are only two birth pools which makes me a bit nervous.

teainbed · 10/04/2017 12:04

OMG MissMoo that sounds amazing!

When I was having DS, DH and I were taken into a similar sounding room and were so pleased and started to make ourselves comfy. Then a midwife came in and said 'oh you've got high blood pressure you can't stay here you're going to the labour ward'

So we ended up in a high risk room with just a bed and a hard chair. Sad

teainbed · 10/04/2017 12:06

I randomly remembered one of my favourite but odd bits of having a baby. Which was weeing absolutely loads after! I'm assuming all the fluid I was holding onto no longer needed to be there and it all got peed out! Very cleansing in a strange way. I did have really fat legs because of the pre-eclampsia.

mrscrocopop · 10/04/2017 12:35

MrsJW - the pessary that I had when I had it took a week to come out. Rank isn't it?!

1004Rise · 10/04/2017 12:48

@Brightsmoke DH has the engine version too, I've always refused to get on the back of it in case I like it, because then I'd need a duplicate of all his kit and one of my own WinkGrin

@RasperryInAMelon I've had the purple patches on and off too, I think it's a similar cause to my gorgeous varicose vein ConfusedBlush

@MissMooMoo That sounds awesome, fingers crossed you get to go there!

Been for my midwife appointment today (34+5) and my previously well behaved baby is now causing chaos.... I have sugar and ketones in my urine and baby is now head up... in sort of a diagonal with head at my left rib and feet at my right hip Confused

So now I've had extra blood taken (needed to have my iron level checked) and I'm booked in for at appointment in 2 weeks (36+5) to see if s/he has moved and if not a scan the next day to confirm and then try to persuade him/her to move Confused

Think I may be spending a lot of time on my ball over the next two weeks!
