I was really interested in the sleepyhead too rainbow but I saw the lullaby trust doesn't recommend them so I'm too worried now.

I really like the idea of a sling library & hadn't realised you could go before baby is born. That makes a lot of sense though, thanks travelgeek!

DontBeBlueBeARainbow · 26/06/2017 14:27

Oh really, I need to do a bit more research then. I know from experience that baby won't sleep much at night for the first couple of weeks, but thought if there's something to help I owe it to myself to get it. But only if safe of course. I want to experiment with swaddling too.

essential yeah you can use most of the buckled carriers from newborn to about 12m, but more require an insert when the baby is up to a certain weight, around 10lbs maybe. The Lillebaby is definitely and all rounder as you can adjust the width of the seat, so from birth and to toddler. I'd recommend it! Woven wraps can be used from newborn to toddler too, as you just wrap different styles, but it is something of an art to master, I've not tried it. A sling library is definitely the way to go if there is one close, just to get your head around what there is, what they look and feel like.

Rainbow - our DD loved being swaddled, she was such a wriggler from day 1 it really calmed her.

With regards to slings, we had a baby bjorn but generally I only used it for airports/holidays (we fly regularly) - it was perfect for short stints but hurt after a while. Got it for £30 unused off gumtree (they retail about £130 I think). I have a wrap sling that I plan to use when this one is tiny - I was nervous about wrapping it wrong with DD but hoping I can be braver this time.

Anyone else struggling with appetite? Mine has completely disappeared, and yesterday I had a big breakfast, then kind of forgot lunch and dinner. Didn't realise until bedtime so shoved some toast down me.

Scan at 29 weeks last week said they are concerned baby is on the small side, so having me back in 3 weeks to check! And now appetite has gone...hmmm.

Maybe it is the heartburn putting me off. DH is offshore so not as if he is making food every night anyway!

All written while looking at my dinner, which has been sitting beside me for the last 2 hours and I just keep trying to pick at it.

Confused
londonfeather · 27/06/2017 09:26

Sorry to hear about the loss of appetite - I haven't experienced this but my friend did because her stomach was so squashed - she had to eat so quickly before her stomach realised it was full.

I'm finding breathing so hard - keep finding myself holding my breath and have to remind myself to breathe.

I bit the bullet and did a big order of big things yesterday - have pram, car seat etc arriving on Friday! It's getting real 😱 - 30 weeks tomorrow... went for the bugaboo bee in the end with the cocoon for newborn, rather than the bassinet as my friend advised using busses/tubes you are better to have something you can strap them into rather than the open bassinet as they can jiggle all over the place going up and down stairs etc...

EssentialHummus · 27/06/2017 09:53

My appetite it also coming and going. I'm trying to stick to healthy things, but got through quite a lot of ice cream etc last week.

WhiteLily86 · 27/06/2017 13:37

Ooh that is the exciting bit London I haven't chosen on car seat yet. Did you go for infant carrier or one that last for the first 4 years or so?! I can't decide.

Force feeding myself today, and am aware of not eating now so will just remind myself. Might get some smoothies tonight so I know I am getting goodness in me. Never seen a bar of galaxy last so long unopened....!

Travelgeek · 27/06/2017 15:34

You can have some of my appetite, ladies. Constantly hungry here and I can't actually stuff my face constantly. I'm trying to have healthier snacks but biscuits are easy.

calimommy · 27/06/2017 15:46

Oh I'm jealous seeing all the new buggy purchases! I'm a marketers dream, I love buggies and I love buying new ones 😂

sweetpea20 · 28/06/2017 00:11

hello. - I just joined mumsnet & am due 10-Sep w first child, so hope you don't mind me crashing this forum.
I am from London too, but further east in Upminster & work in Canary Wharf.
Would like to know if anyone else is in the area, perhaps there might already be a Canary Wharf group for new mums-to-be ?

calimommy · 28/06/2017 02:34

You can join our Facebook group if you like, email me: [email protected]

londonfeather · 28/06/2017 07:22

I went for the maxi cosi to up to a year car seat. It was all too overwhelming with choice so just went for one that will fit into the pushchair and can be belted into the car - we don't drive all that much so it's not going to be really heavily used.

Not sure what to do with the pushchair when it arrives - do people build them, leave them in the box?! I don't know!

sweetpea20 · 28/06/2017 08:27

@londonfeather so which buggy did you end up buying?

MrsY87 · 28/06/2017 14:43

I'm a marketeers dream too Cali! Sad I don't need to buy a new pram this time as I already have a vista and a bee Grin so I'm buying up the accessories to change up the colours of my bee so it feels like a new one!

Lules · 28/06/2017 15:35

I have the bee and really like it so good choice!

Is anyone else trying to move house? We're in the process and we're meant to move when I'll be 34 weeks but the vendor's solicitor is suddenly not responding to queries. Moving really close to my due date worries me.

EssentialHummus · 28/06/2017 15:49

lules we're mid-renovation, also supposed to be in at 34 weeks but it's just not bloody happening. It's incredibly stressful, you have my sympathies.

londonfeather · 28/06/2017 17:57

Sweetpea20 we went for the bee with the cocoon insert instead of the bassinet. I'm only small so wanted a small light pram - hopefully it does the job. Bought it in all black which could be seen as a bit boring but looks pretty sleek to me!

calimommy · 29/06/2017 02:32

london build the pushchair now and get used to folding/unfolding it and clipping the car seat on etc. I promise you that you will be cursing and sweating buckets if your trying to learn how to use it when baby is screaming and your trying to get out the door 😂

Lules · 29/06/2017 09:44

essential do you have to change hospitals? It's that which really bothers me. I don't know how quickly they can do it.

EssentialHummus · 29/06/2017 10:09

lules no, I'm staying put as it's fairly close. I'd flag in advance if you can - find contact info for new midwife team etc, go on hospital tour.

londonfeather · 29/06/2017 12:39

Calimommy - good advice! I'm mal-coordinated at the best of times...

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 29/06/2017 15:31

Hi. I will catch up with rest of thread later.

Saw midwife today (28+1). Blood pressure is a bit high (140/90 but that's high gorgeous email - at booking in my BP was 105/56) so seeing her again Monday. She wants me to phone the maternity care unit in mean time if I have any further symptoms. Anyone know what I'm supposed to look out for other than headaches, problems with feet and swelling? Do I need to worry if I feel faint /Ill? I felt quite rough not long after I saw midwife and that I could easily pass out but I was in a hot and stuffy shop. And hadn't long had ice cream so it could be a sugar rush/drop

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 29/06/2017 15:33
  • gorgeous email? Bloody predictive text. I meant BP is high for me
WhiteLily86 · 29/06/2017 16:48

Just had my first full blown nosebleed, all over a white desk...what a mess, looked like there had been a massacre...

Still, it got me a break from the computer for 30 mins Grin

GrumpySusan · 29/06/2017 19:31

Hope you're feeling OK Cold I think you've got it covered, only other thing I can think of is blurred vision?
Oh gosh the nosebleeds are the worst aren't they? Come on so randomly!
