Congratulations Lules, I'm on boy number 2 also! Glad the scan went well.

LouLou030783 · 28/04/2017 20:28

Frillyhorseyknickers · 28/04/2017 22:52

I can't decide whether to find out the sex on Tuesday! I'm jealous now you're all sharing your exciting news but DH and I agreed not to!

frilly were you able to join the Facebook group in the end?

fluffywallow · 29/04/2017 08:37

Glad the scan went well Lules - hope you're feeling a bit better.

Coming down with a cold here and half way through redecorating our bedroom which I wish I'd never started - it's such a big job and I'm just not up to it. Gah. Had a really blue day yesterday and am not feeling much better today. Just feel fat and ugly and no good. Bleugh.

21+1

SuziePink · 29/04/2017 17:32

That's good Lules. At the risk of teaching my grandmother to suck eggs have you spoken to anyone at work like your Director of Learning and Teaching (or whatever you call them where you are)? Or do you have a mentor you can speak to about how you're feeling? I know academics are under a lot of pressure, I'm guessing where you work is similar to the unis I've spent a lot of time at with too many students and not enough staff with ridiculous targets for intakes and so on... but if you're not feeling well then it's up to your employer to help. When I was having issues I found the people at UCU really helpful too.

For all you fellow geeks I plug in the numbers from my scans into here and here and I've also found a way of estimating birth weight:

Birth weight (g) = gestational age (days) x (9.38 + 0.264 x fetal sex + 0.000233 x maternal height [cm] x maternal weight at 26.0 weeks [kg] + 4.62 x 3rd-trimester maternal weight gain rate [kg/d]] x [number of previous births + 1])

SuziePink · 29/04/2017 17:38

From here

Travelgeek · 29/04/2017 17:45

Ooh nice suzie. I compared my scan measurements to the tables in the BMUS paper. I can't work out how to share the link but its the pdf from august 2009 on fetal size and dating. Baby was just under 50th percentile for gestational age for all three head and abdominal circumference and femur length.

SuziePink · 29/04/2017 19:01

Travelgeek I've read that paper too! It's here. I've got graphs of all the measurements plus one of my weight as well as a calculator for working out how many weeks and days I am on any particular date... sad eh? Grin At least I haven't cracked out Matlab yet!

My future football star (kicking a lot already!) was slightly above the mean. I was a bit surprised they didn't do more measurements though and that the midwife said the placenta is anterior when the consultant said it was posterior a few weeks ago. Surely it can't go from one side to another?

Travelgeek · 29/04/2017 21:38

Step away from Matlab, suzie! That brings back memories!

I have the Ovia pregancy app to tell me how many weeks and days I'll be on any given day. I was tracking my weight on it too but have avoided the scales the last couple of weeks. I don't want to know anymore!

Lules · 30/04/2017 12:15

Thanks suzie. My HoD has actually been really supportive and has wanted me to take time off and I've been resisting. Last week proved to me though that I just can't keep going. My DH has taken my son to my ILs for the weekend so I'm getting a bit of rest. Slept 12 hours last night!

flymo79 · 30/04/2017 14:29

Marking place and trying to catch up!!

flymo79 · 30/04/2017 14:38

Thought I'd re-enter the chat having been off for a while, I've decided to book flights back to the uk for me and dd, I'm already really excited about being able to get some good baby stuff back home. Only 3 weeks to wait / prepare! Wish me luck, first solo flight with a toddler, 13+ hours door to door... At six months preg. Gulp

LouLou030783 · 01/05/2017 08:20

Couldn't wait until my 20 week scan to find out the sex so I've booked a scan for tomorrow can't wait..I'm pretty sure I've got an anterior placenta again this pregnancy as although I'm feeling slight movements it's nothing spectacular which is how it was with the anterior placenta last time.wonder if they shall mention at the scan tomorrow..

I'm back to work on Thursday after my last maternity leave and slightly dreading telling them I'm pregnant again and not just pregnant but I'll be 19+4 😮

SayItIsntSo1 · 01/05/2017 08:40

Good luck for the scan Lou. I hope your work are understanding, I think career wise it can often be a good idea having kids close together. Hopefully they'll see that longer term it may be a good thing.

Lules I feel for you not being well. I am struggling and wondering where the 2nd tri energy is. I'm considering taking the rest of this week off/work from home to try and right myself but fear this is going to be the way it goes for the rest of the pregnancy. Struggling to see how I'll get to 38wks before I take mat leave at the minute.

Hoping the weather holds out and we can take dd out this morning so she can burn off some energy.

I hope you're all having a lovely long BH weekend.

19wks today! 9 days until my 20wk scan Smile

Frillyhorseyknickers · 01/05/2017 17:20

cali no I couldn't join 😢

I'm really annoyed today - came back from bank holiday away to a letter from the hospital confirming my 20 week scan. I booked it for tomorrow and they have written to me confirming a different time on Wednesday - is this normal? I booked that appointment at my 12 week scan and I'm pissed off they have moved it at almost no notice - I have no space in my diary now for three weeks. What do I do?!

LouLou030783 · 01/05/2017 17:37

frilly when u originally booked did they give u a letter?? My hospital issue u with a letter whilst ur standing there booking it? If they have 100% changed it without notification then I'd call in morning and go ballistic, could it be u have perhaps mixed up dates it's not the first time I'd have done something like that

Frillyhorseyknickers · 01/05/2017 17:42

No they didn't give me a letter but she did book it in and write it in my notes?

I'm so mad I've been looking forwards to this (as you do) and had my diary cleared for it since early March!

I'm tempted to deny receiving the letter and turn up for my booking as arranged tomorrow - is that an arsehole thing to do?

calimommy · 01/05/2017 19:15

frilly can you email me again? I couldn't find your original email for some reason.
[email protected]

LouLou030783 · 01/05/2017 20:15

Frilly I'd do it show themur notes if they question it x

fluffywallow · 01/05/2017 20:43

Frilly I would too - if you have it written in your notes then they'll see it's their error.

Travelgeek · 01/05/2017 20:59

frilly, what's the wording of the letter like? Is it just confirming your appointment or is it 'we have cancelled your original and rearranged for another date'? Does it give you the impression its a clerical mix up or a change?

What's the time of your appointment tomorrow? If its not first thing I think I would call and check and if they say the later date ask if they can't squeeze you in as its their last minute change/ confusion in the first place. If it's first thing I think I'd just go. I get the whole NHS is stretched and free at point of use arguments, but we do pay for it and its the basics of good service to explain and give you options if they do have to cancel at short notice.

I totally understand where you are coming from on your thread about this re: work arrangements. My work are more than happy for me to have the time I need for appointments but I run my own diary and need to know when I will have appointments so I arrange meetings at suitable times and its different to cancel at short notice a meeting I and others would travel for for something that can be booked in advance vs an emergency. My midwife checks at 25, 31, etc weeks will always be Thursday mornings as that is when the antenatal clinic is at my GPs and I have them blocked out in my diary right through to mat leave already.

Frillyhorseyknickers · 01/05/2017 21:00

I'm going to call them first thing and if there is a stuff up I'll have to book a private scan this week. I was really looking forwards to seeing baby tomorrow and checking everything was ok.

DaisyChainsForever · 01/05/2017 21:21

Has anyone else not felt any movement yet? I'm due 17th Sep and had my scan last wk, everything was ok, In fact he didn't stop moving! But every person I know keeps raising an eyebrow that I haven't felt anything yet, making me feel really uneasy :(

LouLou030783 · 02/05/2017 06:53

Daisy do u have an anterior placenta? Sometimes that masks feeling movement
