@MrsJW15 we'd love to see you there!

Ah I'd love to come to the meetup (and dont work Fridays!) But I will be on holiday.
I think I am doomed to never attend a meet up.

I also get the egg shape....is it normal?

I have booked a local photographer to do a newborn baby shoot for us. She emailed me today asking if I will be a model for her in a maternity shoot, free obviously but I need to sign a release form so she can use the images for promotion.
I am torn, I didn't plan on a maternity photo shoot as I am quite camera shy but DH thinks if its free I should do it! She takes very beautiful natural tasteful photos so I am sure they will come out lovely.

nursebickypegs · 21/03/2017 11:54

Thinking of you @RasperryInAMelon!

@MrsJW15 I think if it works for you, that's all that matters. I had two friends have babies weeks between each other, one was Olivia Grace and the other is Grace Olivia. Both popular names but utterly beautiful & suits the babies!

MrsJW15 · 21/03/2017 11:59

Nurse I was determined to avoid super-popular names. But I can't shake this one, so I think we have to go with it, if this baby is a girl. Only caveat is that DH's cousin is due a few weeks before us, and they have the same surname, so we have to hope they don't choose our names!

lullaby23 · 21/03/2017 12:10

That list had me at Gethsemane....

nurse OTH is such a high brow reference 😂 Looking forward to getting tiny clothes on the line soon.

I have no idea about stomach muscles they are somewhat buried under flab, I suppose it would be sensible to get checked out after this baby is born. I think they do it as standard in France don't they?

1004Rise · 21/03/2017 12:14

I love this group for making me feel better it's nice to have egg shaped friends! WinkGrinI'll have a look for that post @MrsJW15

@RasperryInAMelon with you on the lack of job energy, consoling myself with writing an email to someone that has pissed me off. I'm not going to send it but it made me feel a lot better to write it. Angry

@MissMooMoo A maternity shoot for promotion purposes would be very brave. I couldn't do one even for us to keep. However if you already like the style of her pictures you will probably like the way she portrays you and I'm sure if you really hated them you could ask her not to use them. Since that's the type of photos she does I'm sure they'd be very flattering!

savagehk · 21/03/2017 12:17

I think you're less likely to damage yourself with the baby still inside if your muscles have spread, as they get some support from the baby. Once you've given birth, though...!

PowerofThree · 21/03/2017 12:30

I am also impressed by those of you with names picked already (or even shortlists!). Our list is literally every name we have heard and none of them are inspiring us....

Does anyone else have a nocturnal party-er? Mine has decided that midnight -1am is the best time for constant and vigorous moving. As well as being rather irritating when trying to sleep, this also means that I have to wait until then to know if he has had reduced movements as he crams about half his sessions of movement in from 10pm...

Autumnsweater · 21/03/2017 12:53

To all those finding names difficult - we found boys names so hard!! Didn't have a shortlist as only found ONE name we both quite liked. Still weren't sure about it but months on its still the only name we both like so that's going to be it unless we hear a fabulous one in between now and the birth!! Not telling anyone in real life as don't want to be put off it!!

ClaireSunflower · 21/03/2017 12:53

Power I never feel mine at night! I don't know if it's because he's asleep or if it just doesn't wake me up. He's very active in the evening though.

Loving all the names. We've got 2 shortlisted and both have a slight preference for the same one. I think we will wait to see what he looks like before deciding for certain. We're keeping names to ourselves and not telling our families as I don't want their opinions to sway us in any way. Slightly worried that the names we like are too popular though as our surname is smith!

Autumnsweater · 21/03/2017 12:53

I have been kicked in the ribs loads this morning and now they are sore and it hurts slightly to breathe in and out - think the little bugger has bruised my intercostal muscles HmmGrin.

MrsJW15 · 21/03/2017 13:33

Power this baby definitely has a little dance party around midnight, just as I attempt to get to sleep - making it much harder for me to sleep!

MissMooMoo · 21/03/2017 13:37

Mine is most active between 8-10 pm.
Also get lots of angry kicks on the weekends in the morning, although I think its more the baby telling me to get out of bed and eat!!!

PeachIcedT · 21/03/2017 13:39

I'm also a big fan on American sounding names, and they don't seem to be popular here (on this site at least) but I do like Surname-y names too. Not that that's what I've gone for but I definitely like unusual names particularly. I'm always so interested when people have a baby to find out what they name him/her! So I'm looking forward to the birth announcements! Liking the idea of using maiden name as middle name but mine would work better if I was having a boy.

@MissMooMoo if it's free and she will take the kind of photos you'd be comfortable with it might be worthwhile.

And yes I've noticed the egg too!

@PowerofThree yes this bean is most active just as I settle down to sleep, but luckily I'm so tired I end up sleeping through.

Fed up of work today, having a very stressful day whilst trying not to get stressed! I do have a nice stretch of annual leave coming up at least.

RasperryInAMelon · 21/03/2017 14:17

@PowerofThree I get a lot of movement first thing while I'm on the train to work, then a steady movement through the day and then she turns into a party animal from about 7pm-11pm when she finally just becomes a fidgit!

EsmesBees · 21/03/2017 14:42

MissMoo we have really similar tastes in names. Three of your names are on my list too. I love Iris and Pearl, but DH is unsure.

I would love to come to the meetup, it's so close to work, but I'm working from home on Friday.

coxsorangepippin · 21/03/2017 15:41

raspberry, rise, jw, moomoo, peach same here on the doming. I've got quite good at avoiding it, except in the bath where there's just no space to turn sideways to get up! The physio this morning said almost all women have a diastasis rectii by the end, but it's v fixable Smile I was reassured because when my mother had me she was told nothing could be done - it's only now decades later she happens to be doing Pilates and it's getting smaller! Shock

Sipperskipper · 21/03/2017 15:45

Wow so much to catch up on! Hope everyone is doing ok and feeling well. Had 2nd and final hypnobirthing session on Sunday, which was great. Last day at work this Friday so plan on trying to spend an hour a day practicing the techniques.

We have chosen a name after deliberating over so many that we liked but didn't love. We heard this and loved it as its our favourite plant - we are calling her Lupin. Most of our family aren't keen, but we are sticking to our guns! She will have my mum's name as her middle name.

Brightsmoke · 21/03/2017 15:51

Some middle name reasons are so normal compared to mine, Harvey is after my pony Grin. I wanted Cassandra as a girls middle name, again after another of my ponies, but DH put his foot down there lol.

Baby doesn't stop here, moves continuously through the day and night. Definitely an octopus.

Gutted I can't ever make the meet ups. Getting up for work at 4.30-5am and being 30+ mins away means I would be a grouchy cow bag all weekend, and I definitely put DH through enough of that daily Grin

newbieho · 21/03/2017 15:55

I feel the skin on my belly cannot stretch any further - it is very tight and feels uncomfortable. I have got still 7 weeks to go Shock Any advice how can I make my skin feel less tight (apart from moisturising that does not help at all)?

PeachIcedT · 21/03/2017 16:15

@Sipperskipper Lupin is lovely! I usually grow the flower and it's beautiful, so great choice.

@newbieho might it be due to baby's position? If so hopefully it will be transient until he moves a bit, maybe gentle bump massage might help?

KLane · 21/03/2017 16:43

@newbieho I find moisturiser pretty useless, but Burt's Bees Mama Bee oil on the other hand has been amazing. It's instant relief as soon as I massage it in!

teainbed · 21/03/2017 16:44

I get that newbie. I think loads of body butter or whatever you like is helpful. Bump will drop a bit in the final few weeks and doesn't feel that tight at that point.

savagehk · 21/03/2017 16:50

Mine's only really tight if baby stretches or moves funny. If it's skin elasticity that's the issue I suspect drinking enough fluids would also help?

peasandquiet · 21/03/2017 17:09

Like savage was going to suggest keeping well hydrated. This baby won't stop wriggling today, lots and lots of movements.
