Morning ladies! Another night of waking at 2am, then 5am, and then I sleep solid until 10am. Is the baby prepping me for night feeds? Who knows. DH has picked up overtime - it's usually me that does it so this is a nice change! - so I'm off swimming, and then we are seeing Get Out at the cinema tonight. We have odeon limitless passes and I want to use them as much as I can in the next few weeks.

yellowismyfavourite · 18/03/2017 11:24

Just catching up after a busy week.
esmes glad you have support from your midwife but sorry for your loss
peach that's great news about your placenta moving up
nurse sorry to hear about your awful appointment. Hope you get a response from your complaint.
grow sorry to hear about the replacement interviews... that sounds stressful.

I actually slept properly last night for the first time in weeks so enjoying feeling more normal this morning. Off shopping today for hospital bag bits and more baby clothes to get us through first few days.

Counting down the last two weeks at work... finding it really difficult now. I crouched down to speak to a child yesterday, got wedged and couldn't get up again! Won't do that again I think!

Happy weekend everyone

MissMooMoo · 18/03/2017 11:29

We do have a car club membership and use it sometimes.
We also rent a car if we want to go away for a weekend or anything like that. I'll see how it goes.

Just saw the MW for my 31 week appt (31+3 today) everything looks good apart from my fundus measurement which is JUST at 30 when she says it should be closer to 32. 2 different midwives measured and agreed it was on the smaller side. I have a scan on the 31 to check my placenta so they said they will also check size and fluid but not to worry too much as it just could be a on the smaller side baby.
Baby is also head down and ready to go. She showed me how to find the head vs the bum. Really neat!

Badgerbird · 18/03/2017 13:21

nurse15 2 14 hour shifts in a row, 30+ weeks preggo, spd and hardly any sleep SadConfused that's too much!! See how you get on but going off sick may have to happen unless you can change your work hours etc? Incidentally I had a 3 door car when twins I looked after were little, no isofix either, but if a pain but you get used to it :)

Eeeeer raspberry you have to do something to celebrate your last bday without LO! Even if it's just lunch and cake SmileCake

yellow you getting wedged made me chuckle sorry. I somehow forgot I was preggo this week and whilst playing with little boy I look after I showed him how to do a backbend ShockConfused Ouch. Not something I'll be repeating!! Did make me laugh though!

Pregnancy yoga this morn (was bliss), meeting friend for coffee, pottering at home then DH is out so I'm snuggling up with a girly film tonight :) Tomoz I'm off to my first Lots for Tots sale!

Teaspoon74 · 18/03/2017 15:14

Bit random, but if any of you are struggling re hangers for baby clothes, Monsoon, Primark and I'm sure other places will give you bags of hangers for free if you ask. They just bin them otherwise!!

WishIWasSleeping · 18/03/2017 15:57

Teaspoon74, I think pretty much all of the gifts we had for DD came on hangers. Now she's 14m we have faaarrrr too many and I just have a drawer full of 'spares'
Debenhams let you keep the hangers too.

SanitysSake · 18/03/2017 16:16

Ooh MissMooMoo, can you tell all of us how to tell the difference between the bottom and the head?!!

I keep thinking my giraffe is all over the place and i'd like to be able to tell what bit is attacking my internal organs!

Teaspoon74 · 18/03/2017 17:01

Thanks Wish. I've been gifted stuff by a pal and bought stuff on line from Monsoon and elsewhere in sales and all turned up hangerless so freebies are helpful for me, but I guess not needed for all ;)

MissMooMoo · 18/03/2017 17:34

Well I am no expert Sanity Wink
She placed my hand on the head and let me have a good feel. Said the head feels more like your hand in a fist.
The bum was much harder and not as round, more like an odd shaped lump. She also said lots of babies like to stick their bums out but heads not so much.
Going to try and show DH tonight although hes always worried I prod my tummy too much Grin

MissMooMoo · 18/03/2017 17:36

I was also surprised at how low into the pubic area the head was, which seems ridiculous if you think about how the baby comes out!

SanitysSake · 18/03/2017 17:39

MissMooMoo - I'm very scared of prodding my baby. I still think if i do it too hard, the baby will come shooting out of my fanny like some greased comedy bowling ball.

Or more that I'd hurt it!

I think I have felt the bum.. but its been on my RHS. The head I think has been making happy on what feels like the back of my cervix. Really painful and very difficult to walk.

Anyone think that their baby tumbles from head down to side to side? Or am I losing the plot?

MissMooMoo · 18/03/2017 17:51

DH thinks I am going to crush the baby.
He generally doesn't like the idea of a little human living inside of me, he thinks its a bit yuck! Saying that he even gets creeped out hearing the heartbeat! He has passed out a few times in medical situations involving blood so I am wondering how he will cope as my birth partner.

SanitysSake · 18/03/2017 17:55

I generally don't like the idea of a little human being living inside of me either!! When the giraffe moves around, it really does freak me out.

Your poor hubby. He is definitely going to be up against it in the delivery room!

My OH has stated he will be firmly standing at the 'head end' of proceedings, not the stirrups! I'm kinda glad about that!

mrscrocopop · 18/03/2017 18:32

Thank you for that info missmoomoo! From that info I think that my lo's bum is the bump sticking out to the left of my belly button ☺️ Have also been told mine is head down but I think she shifts from head down to transverse at times as bump seems to get wider with a lumpy but at either side iykwim!

SanitysSake · 18/03/2017 18:34

mrscrocopop - that's what mine feels like. How far gone are you?

ClaireSunflower · 18/03/2017 18:49

Mine feels like that too. There is a slightly harder bump that sticks out just above my belly button on my right side. I know in the last scan he was head down facing right so I think it must be his bum sticking out! Don't want to poke it too hard in case I hurt him!

MissMooMoo · 18/03/2017 18:51

Thats exactly where mine's bum is too.
Its almost always constantly sticking out.

MrsJW15 · 18/03/2017 18:54

I also have a slightly harder bump fairly high up. Wondered if it was a head but mw has said bum as baby is head down.

We did our first day of NCT classes today. It was good - nice people and informative. It ended up being confusing about third stage, pulsating chord and the injection to deliver the placenta. I think I need to read up on that.

Then we went to see the changing table I wanted (from gumtree) but it was in terrible condition and too low. Boo. Also my Asda order arrived - I'm sure I ordered dark maternity nightdresses but one is white with grey stripes and one is light grey. Wonder if that's totally impractical.

1004Rise · 18/03/2017 18:54

Went to lidl today (needed dinner) baby selection was duff and they looked like they had loads left so I don't think it was all sold out. Did manage to get 8 of the Beatrix Potter books though, I think they must have been the most popular thing!

That's good info missmoo, I think like mrscroc the hard lump on my left is the bum and the fluttering lower down must be hands.... would explain why my bump goes a really lopsided shape which I think is when baby is stretching Hmm Will be interesting to see if I'm right at my midwife appointment on Monday!

My DH is not the best in controlled situations like taking blood, he hid behind the curtain at my 28 week appointment but he's fine in a "crisis" so I think he'll be fine during the birth and as long as he doesn't think about it too much after he should stay on his feet.

We're like you peas couldn't do anything without a car nothing other than a spar currently in walking distance and even that's a good 30 minutes away.

Nurse hats off to you, one 14 hr shift is bad enough but 2 in a row is hardcore! Hope the hip pain is better today, if not going sick seems sensible BrewCake

I slept better last night, turned my pillow the other way so the long bit was down my back and my bump had more space, nowhere near as hot, will try the same thing tonight in case it was a fluke!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

SanitysSake · 18/03/2017 19:16

Yeah, this sleeping thing.. I was getting some good nights in and all of a sudden, I'm doing what I call 'split shifts' again. Going to bed at midnight, waking up at 4am, staying up until 10:00-11am and then promptly passing out until 12:30/13:00hrs. Rinse and repeat.

The SPD isn't helping the rolling over/getting out of bed for the 5 nightly trips to the loo. Today I was just battered tired as a consequence so have slobbed on the sofa. Feeling like I've achieved nothing.

1004Rise I went to the Lidl 'event' yesterday. Same deal as yourself. Nothing really there. Was kinda hoping that someone was going to say there are different things in different places?

MrsJW15 - what in the world is a pulsating chord? Sounds horrific!

ClaireSunflower Have you had any more scans since your 20wk?

MrsJW15 · 18/03/2017 19:18

Ha sorry, Sanity I probably explained it badly. I'm tired! I meant about waiting to cut the cord for a few minutes so the blood gets to the baby. The NCT teacher was very keen on it!

Brightsmoke · 18/03/2017 19:19

I know what you mean Rasperry! DH is muttering about going to the zoo, managed to convince him to see how I feel in the morning, I'm more than happy with a duvet birthday 😂.

I'm tired enough having been to the antenatal class today. Would definitely recommend it if anyone hasn't booked one and is still able to, very helpful! I have attached the hospital bag list that I was given in case anyone is still confused with what to put in! Hope it's clear enough!

The ap seems to be glitching every time I try and post a picture, anyone else having this problem?

SanitysSake · 18/03/2017 19:32

MrsJW15 - ahh gotcha. The imagery is still horrific! Like something out of Alien!

Brightsmoke - Sadly I can't seem to zoom in on it. Anyone got any ideas?

Brightsmoke · 18/03/2017 19:36

Hope this is better Sanity

Brightsmoke that's awesome thank you! And it is a really good list. I have been panicking about my bag for ages. Putting off packing it as a consequence.

One thing that did make me wonder though.. would a hospital not provide you with a little tub for water if you're washing baby's bum?
