Wow 11 pages to catch up on!
peach very glad to hear about the placenta! I have my scan on the 31st to check.
Third NCT class tonight, seems to be flying by!
Off to Malta next week for 5 days, I can't believe this will be our last holiday together where it is just us 2 in life.
Thinking about hospital bag snacks, our NCT teacher recommended flapjacks. Trying to think who does the best ones, M&S?

nursebickypegs · 14/03/2017 17:09

@MissMooMoo definitely marks! I'm going to get our snacks from there. You know, the essentials... sausage rolls, Percy pigs, and a sugar ring doughnut.

nursebickypegs · 14/03/2017 17:12

I definitely have my husbands cold and I am exhausted! I did manage to swim today for an hour, and waddle around town. I need to make tea but that involves getting off my fat bum.

PALS got into contact and said they are raising the issue ASAP. Spoke to the clinic and got the name of the doctor, and the nurse today said if I call the day before, I can find out the consultant on duty that day. I feel like I am asking the impossible to see my named OBGYN?!

Hope everyone had a better day today!

coxsorangepippin · 14/03/2017 18:24

grow that is reassuring I won't be a social outcast!

PeachIcedT · 14/03/2017 18:33

Hope you get the same news at your scans fox and missmoo. Of all the pregnant women at work we all seem to have had low placentas but so far all have moved up so I think the odds are good.

And yes M&S snacks! If you can't treat yourself in your hospital bag when can you? Now I really want some flapjack Smilethough not sure my squeezed stomach has much space left after demolishing this beaut.

growcookeat · 14/03/2017 18:41

Peach that's great news for you.

Missmoo I have been scoffing flapjacks for 3 weeks now (some random ones out the work charity box mostly) - definitely needs to be in my bag! I think M&S is a good shout for snacks. I'll be stocking up on Colin caterpillars and their pitta crisps.

Spoke to my headteacher today who confirmed plans for my replacement. They're just planning to cover the rest of this school year for now - interviews thurs and fri. Should get some transition/handover time for next 2 weeks before I go which will be v helpful!

teainbed · 14/03/2017 18:48

My hospital has an M&S Food in it! Which is good as I'm going to be eating all the food when this baby is out! Have been super good and blood sugars very well controlled but I'm looking forward to some cheesecake or takeaway pizza or a massive plate of pasta or carrot cake. Just everything!

mrscrocopop · 14/03/2017 18:50

Peach - so pleased for you! Must be such a relief!

ClaireSunflower · 14/03/2017 19:08

Great news about the placenta peach! I have a scan in 2 weeks to see if mine has moved so fingers crossed.

Raspberry I wouldn't worry too much about gd, I had a gtt test as my dad had diabetes and it came back fine. I think the midwife would probably pick it up in your appointments as you'd be measuring bigger than you should if there was a problem. I've put on about 2 stone too. I was a bit Confused the other day when I weighed myself but hoping it won't take too long to lose after the baby is born!

EsmesBees · 14/03/2017 19:26

That is good news peach. Hopefully you'll get the birth you want now.

My toddler has come home from nursery with a temperature. Really hoping she's not getting ill again as I'm so busy at work and can't afford the time off Feeling a bit 'woe is me'.

growcookeat · 14/03/2017 20:19

Just wanted to say - I am loving this new gym ball! Have been bouncing away whilst watching tv with DH. It's so much comfier than the sofa. I would recommend one to you all ladies!

Teaspoon74 · 14/03/2017 20:20

What a day! Just left my desk and left home at 8. 12 hours down and an hour and a half of travel home. I'm done in! Just worked out I have 30 more days of work left. Of which 10 are wfh. Plus some hospital appts. Still feels too long!!!

The top and left hand side of my bump feels really taut - like I've pulled a muscle or something. Bit like the ache when you've bruised or even broken a rib. Anyone else had/having that?

Esmes hope the little one's ok and you don't catch anything. I keep hearing how low our defences are at this point!!

Tea mine too! I love M&S cherries though they are a bugger to de-pup. Would it be unfair to get OH to do a mammoth de-pop for a cherry box for my hossie bag (would have to be last minute mind, so they're fresh)? May need to repurpose him as my designated cherry de-pipper as we get closer so I don't get caught short!!

Wow Nurse! It's been a good 4 or 5 months since I managed an hour swim. Well done you!!

MissMoo enjoy! Jealous of the break but when we started looking at babymoon locations I realised I'm so achey I just wouldn't enjoy waddling slowly round rather than our usual striding, so we've planned a trip in October. Wine tasting in Chablis will be fine with a 5 month old, right??

Re soft bras, I'm living in the M&S nursing bras and have been for months. So comfy!!day and night.

Rasperry what a lovely thing for the guy on the next table to do. Spanish?

Thanks for the Lidl tip Newbie.

Rustler lots in common! Torn between wanting to push on stuff like epidural where I know I'd prefer to avoid and have a more active birth if at all possible, and putting trust in Drs who know more, have seen more, and advise something different. As I'm not intending to have another, this is a one off and I figure I should try and be as in the moment as possible.... but that doesn't mean I want unnecessary pain Confused

Wish did the monster munch work? I swear it's got magic munch in it. Even when feeling nauseous it's beefy goodness is a cure-all!

To all the ladies with GD or similar - really hope you can get through the remaining weeks ok.

KLane · 14/03/2017 20:44

Teaspoon Does the pain feel tender, especially when you press on it? If so, yes I've had it for weeks! Only on the top of my bump though. Midwife told me it is completely normal but no explanation beyond that... "Just one of those pregnancy things". Super helpful!

Teaspoon74 · 14/03/2017 21:18

Klane yup. Top and left, just below boobs on ribcage. Excruciating!!!

Poor you having had this for longer Hmm

Joys of pregnancy, eh?

#stillwaitingfortheglow

1004Rise · 14/03/2017 21:19

Teaspoon yes I've had it too, feels like baby's pulled one of my stomach muscles trying to get out the wrong way Hmm

Peach great news on the scan! Hope you enjoyed your pineapple! Laughing at "still a girl" Grin

I've put on more than 1.5 stone (ish) but I seem to be all bump and boobs so hoping most of that goes when baby arrives Confused my legs seem to have got skinnier, lost my cycling muscles Blush

Planning another trip swimming this week though, feeling lighter is definitely addictive!

What a nice thing for the random stranger to do Rasperry people are awesome!

Jealous of the hospitals with M&S food in them... need to write an M&S list!!

Finally got our pram from mothercare, after 3 weeks of chasing. If they'd told us when we ordered it it would take 3 weeks to come that would have been fine but don't tell me it'll be 5 days and then make me chase! Angry Now trying to resist the temptation to open the box ConfusedBlush

Barnes79 · 14/03/2017 21:23

Teaspoon I've had a similar thing with my bump. My midwife thought it was just stretching and/or baby position.

Rustler74 · 14/03/2017 22:27

Back in UK and with my man! Missed him lots and he me too! Got nice welcome from him.
Wondered if of those of you who've had so much cramp in the legs, have you ever had such a sore (calf) muscle from it that it continued beyond 24 hours after the cramp? I had it in Sunday to Monday night when the muscle got in such a cramp that it woke me up. My feet had been badly swollen after sitting still most of the afternoon and evening. Then yesterday I had a much more physically active day although it hurt and last night no cramps but my calf still hurts today and swollen feet again (long train ride didn't do me well). Hope it's not a dvt! Getting rhesus jab tomorrow so will ask midwife to measure blood pressure again...

Rustler74 · 14/03/2017 22:29

Oh and I think baby has turned to a more vertical position although I'd like to know if it's head down. There's hope that it can stay like that... wishful thinking as I'm only 30 weeks Friday

nursebickypegs · 14/03/2017 22:32

@1004Rise my pushchair is coming tomorrow too! My parents live in the same town as Precious Little One & my Dad knows the owner, so we got a discount. Mothercare deliveries sound awful!

nursebickypegs · 14/03/2017 22:36

@Rustler74 for me that's normal, when I have had painful cramp I can feel it for a day afterwards. Are we allowed to drink tonic water? I use to drink it after a shift to help with restless legs. I'm pleased you're back in the UK with husband!!

DH has been reading his Dad book today, bless him. He's added some bits to the birth plan like that he wants to cut the cord, and he wants to watch the CS which really surprises me! We have packed Bub's bag, and half packed mine, who was it who wanted a list? I'm sure I've packed way too much but we have a huge car so I'm sure I can keep some bits in there in needs be.

I think I've just discovered a stretch mark too! Nooooo!

EsmesBees · 14/03/2017 22:37

teaspoon your wine tasting holiday sounds amazing. Hopefully the baby will be in that stage when they are just sitting and happy to be still and gaze at the world around them.

We are thinking of a late summer break to the coast somewhere. Although with a baby and toddler it may stretch the definition of a holiday.

coxsorangepippin · 14/03/2017 22:47

nursebp what dad book does your OH have?

nursebickypegs · 14/03/2017 22:51

@coxsorangepippin "The Expectant Dads Handbook", I have no clue why I picked that one from Amazon... I think it must have been on a buzzfeed list or something. He really enjoys it, and it's made a bit more involved. He says he feel disjointed from the pregnancy as it's not happening to him, so it's helped him make his "own birth plan" and take charge of packing bags and things!

RasperryInAMelon · 14/03/2017 23:05

Thanks for the advice re GD ladies. Put my mind at ease. I guess I've struggled more recently with the realisation of just how different by body looks, but perhaps haven't embraced it as much as I thought I would...

@PeachIcedT you're killing me with the 🍍 good news about your placenta too! 😃

@Teaspoon74 @1004Rise really was so nice of him! Was a Canadian guy who works in real estate.

@Teaspoon74 and @KLane same here, but mine spreads around into my back too 😩

@Rustler74 mine was bad for 2-3 days - I had a massage a few days after I'd had bad cramp and she told me to drink more water and watch myself for DVT. Then had a Midwife Appt but she didn't seem concerned - did however buy flight socks for this trip though just incase!

I agree with @EsmesBees this wine trip sounds brilliant @Teaspoon74 - watching DH delve into a litre of sangria a night has been tough here! I treated myself to a glass yesterday which was beautiful!

Sounds like we've all got little fighters/ wrigglers! OH keeps saying "I'll remind her of when she did that jug on your bladder" etc. Think it must be really hard for the dad's to hear all this stuff but not actually experience the oddness of something growing inside you first hand!

Love the idea of the expectant dad book! Could you photo if please Nurse so we cDNA see title/ author?

Rustler am jealous of your possible turn! Colleague who I've not spoke to about pregnancy bellowed at me across the office today "I hear you're breach? I was too. Don't worry they'll cut it out!". Which was nice of her Confused

Esmes & Rasperry : Re wine trip - seriously recommend it! We've gone for the last five of so years. Drive to Chablis from London (ferry from Dover and usually overnight in cheap hugely in Cite Europe). Stay central in Chablis. And then for a €5 glass, you can wander up and down the street tasting the different petit, Chablis, premier and grand cru's of around 40/50 local producers - big & small. No charge for the wine - it's to promote the region. And you can end up trying a coulle of hundred wines from different years, areas of the vineyards, and with different winemaking techniques. I love if!!! But do always end up getting rat arsed do will have to have some sort of bottle feeding plan in place for then Smile

Could go a glass now, if I wasn't in bed ....
