Sorry for all random typos - time for bed!!

RasperryInAMelon · 14/03/2017 23:35

@Teaspoon74 it must be tough for dads too. DH said to me at dinner tonight that if he could carry DD he'd love to! 😍

Rasperry that's so sweet! Even more so if it's to take some of the strain/pain off you.
...how much sangria at that point ;)

Badgerbird · 15/03/2017 00:03

Hey lovelies! I've been off for a few days now not sure I can really catch up properly so please forgive me if I've missed anything big!

bright so pleased fur baby ok :)

nurse I'm so glad baby is healthy!! However that obgyn appointment sounds appalling!!!

Oh mighty you are having a crappy time! I'm pleased your mum is on the mend but sorry to hear about gd. Glad you've got some support on here :)

raspberry glad break is going well and I absolutely love that you got bought lunch by a stranger. There are good peeps out there :) I'm not being checked for gd either, midwife says it's to do with bmi and if it runs in family. Try not to feel rubbish about weight gain. I was in such good shape when I first got preggo, felt really strong. 2 failed pregnancies and recoveries later I started this pregnancy on the back foot when it comes to fitness. It's very frustrating but we can only do our best and keep ourselves as fit, healthy and happy as possible Wink

Great news on placenta peach!

Met up for a walk with friend and her baby today and got given Moses basket and bags of baby clothes that get passed around us girlfriends Smile

nursebickypegs · 15/03/2017 00:15

@RasperryInAMelon awh, my DH said the same when I was complaining that HIS son was too heavy. Well considering he's twice the bloody size he should be, no wonder I'm exhausted!

This is DHs book! The author runs classes in Peterborough which is about an hour or so from so.

Link is here; The Expectant Dad's Handbook: All you need to know about pregnancy, birth and beyond https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0091948045/ref=cmswwrcppapi_rBiYybK3JAE0Q

DH is enjoying reading it, and like I said it's got him more involved. I feel bad because I'm such a control freak and I've done all the nursery, clothes buying, planning etc by myself and he's just been dragged along for the ride. His job over the next few weeks is to pack our bags, get the last bits and get snacks.

The book is a good idea nurse its a strange time for expectant fathers, and easy for them to feel left out. We are hardly getting any thing new this time round, but i did want a couple of new baby grows to bring the baby home in. So I tasked DH with choosing some in an effort to make him feel involved. He must have been to almost every shop in central London trying to find something 'just right' came home yesterday with two (lovely ones) from baby gap in under 7lb size. I pointed out that dd1 was 7lb7 and this one is likely to be bigger, he looked really disappointed, he had tried so hard, bless him.

coxsorangepippin · 15/03/2017 08:34

rustler wine trip sounds fab, do you have to go during certain dates/time of year or is it year round?

coxsorangepippin · 15/03/2017 08:37

nurse thank you! And so glad about the heart. Crossing my fingers for your success with PALS.

peach great news!

mighty take care

lullaby23 · 15/03/2017 09:53

Good news on the placenta peach.

The wine tasting trip sounds amazing. Not sure about driving based holiday with 2 children, maybe in a few years!

I'm also having the below rib discomfort, I know the baby is much lower so assume it is "smooshed organs" (technical term). Think baby might have gone head down as feeling movements slightly higher up and need a wee every time I stand up, I think my bladder is being head butted.

lullaby23 · 15/03/2017 09:55

Oh another book recommendation, I bought Commando Dad for DH last time which is written in a kind of military style about keeping your "troops" happy. He found it quite good fun and useful too. Luckily nothing to do with not wearing pants.

Teaspoon74 · 15/03/2017 10:09

Thanks Nurse. Think I need to Amazon Prime that book for OH. He deserves it!

Esmes bless! But he's done the hard bit and found the style and store so can you just get him to change them for the next size?

Cox 'twas me with the wine trip Smile. It's generally the third weekend of October for the Chablis Fete du Vin, though wine festivals of different types are held all over at different times. This one is about showcasing local producers and is really chilled out and friendly. My French is rubbish but some people speak a little English and you can get by with a smattering of French and a willingness to communicate!! And whilst the producers do not sell wine from their stalls at the Fete on either day, most of them will take visitors to their Cave (shop) or Domain (winery) where you can often do a fuller tasting of their wines and buy direct. Some of the producers sell to people like Majestic cinder one label and sell the same wine for far less under another label locally!!

And you also get to try producers who don't retail during the Fete. Some of the best small producers sell everything to one or two customers - often for export - so you won't see them in the shops, but get to taste them/ chat to the producers at the Fete.

Sorry if I sound a bit pseudy, but I just love the laid back approach to wine making, drinking, and chatting. It's a lovely lovely break. And Chablis is only about 4h drive from Calais.

Lullaby "nothing to do with not wearing pants" Grin

MrsJW15 · 15/03/2017 10:15

Tea that wine trip sounds amazing! We've done some driving through France although we haven't been to Chablis. Planning to go to the South of France in July and enjoy the rose and the sea.

Baby is very wriggly again today - lots of movement at the top just under my ribs. Baby was head down on Monday so I guess it's feet - it's not very comfortable! Sometimes I seem to be a simultaneous push on my hips so I guess that's a big stretch!

Saw the physio yesterday which was helpful. Some problems in my lower back, she's given me some exercises to do and I'm going back in a couple of weeks. She seemed unimpressed that I'd stopped going to the gym though! Also saw my friend whose waters broke at 31 weeks. She is doing ok and is hoping to have baby next week at 35 weeks. Obviously they are a bit concerned about a prem baby, but hoping 35 weeks is ok.

nursebickypegs · 15/03/2017 10:20

@EsmesBees bless your DH, that's so sweet! I showed DH that sizes come in weights too. So far he's bought a few bits and bobs, mainly really "boy" clothes which isn't something I've bought. He's got him some dinosaur tshirts, a Woody from Toy Story outfit (we love Disney!) and Batman Tshirts.

@lullaby23 ah I saw that book too! If I can pick it up cheaper, I might grab him that too. DH & I are big readers, so the more books the better.

@Teaspoon74 I can not live without Amazon Prime!!! It's a family joke that I don't visit shops, I just Prime everything! We even have the dash buttons.

I woke up with Braxton Hicks last night. Just the one! I had no frigging clue what to do, so I did the British thing of making a brew and worrying! It scared me!

savagehk · 15/03/2017 10:32

esme can he buy the same in the bigger size and then you take back whichever is unused? Admittedly not great for a 'coming home' outfit if you want it washed and ready....

Re books for men, I found most of them rather uninspiring last time. This is a new thing I've seen but we've not checked out yet. My OH enjoyed (?) the hypnobirthing course despite being dragged along at first, so hopefully your OHs will also find any antenatal stuff useful. birthing4blokes.com/

Brightsmoke · 15/03/2017 11:10

Tea, that wine trip sounds amazing, though I would be smashed slightly tipsy at the end!!

Nurse, I went home yesterday with painful BH, had tightening for a few weeks now, but yesterday it was painful for the first time. I, like you, sat and had a cuppa Grin

I got DH the Haynes baby manual as he's an engineer so thought it would be best for his engineers brain to understand. He loved it, as it is set out in the way the Haynes manuals are for vehicles

nursebickypegs · 15/03/2017 11:17

@Brightsmoke I'm pleased you said that! Mine was in my right side, and that's where he always lies.

What an awesome sunny day!!! I'm shoving some oatmeal in my face, off for a swim and I think I'll relax in the garden with audible.

Brightsmoke · 15/03/2017 11:36

Nurse, yup, right side too, and that's also where baby lays! Very jealous, I want to be at home!! 12 working days left, 120 hours I'm not counting down honest

teainbed · 15/03/2017 12:16

Only 10 days left at work here too! And 7 of them are half days. Grin

Finally bought a buggy last night! Baby jogger city mini GT. Got raincover but no other bits. Can't decide on carrycot and car seat adaptors or not, I use the sling a lot early on so can't see me using it until the baby is a bit bigger.

Rustler74 · 15/03/2017 12:26

Been for anti D vax this morning and they said I'd 'missed' my 28 week check although I have seen the ob and endo as well as growth scan last week (which was 28+6). when I went I asked if I could see midwife as that was foreseen (she told me to ask for her!) but was told no!
I still have to see my community midwives in the area where I live as I'm considered out of area for the hospital. Now to arrange one for next week then. Luckily heard lovely heartbeat today and got confirmed that baby has turned to head down! Fingers x it'll stay there!

nursebickypegs · 15/03/2017 13:28

@Rustler74 last week I had 3 appointments for 28weeks! One midwife, one GTT with midwife and then OBGYN. Yay for baby being head down!

@teainbed what sling do you have? We got a cosy caboodle? You know what I have no clue, I need to find it and check!

@Brightsmoke you can do it! I'm embracing this time alone by swimming, watching awful TV and spring cleaning everywhere. He's still on my chuffing right side and he feels heavy today. I'm going to not swim tomorrow and have a rest day, but swimming is just so lovely and I feel weightless!

teainbed · 15/03/2017 13:32

I've got a wrap but my new one is a Hanna Baby carrier. I've got a rucksack style one for a toddler (Little Life) and a Baby Bjorn (but you can't wear them out of the house these days as you get cats bum faces from all the baby wearers). Grin

savagehk · 15/03/2017 13:38

@nursebickypegs you probably mean a Close Caboo?

nursebickypegs · 15/03/2017 14:11

@savagehk yes! I prefer my name Grin

LOL at "cat bums faces"

Rustler74 · 15/03/2017 14:12

I'll be using a ByKaye or a Hana both of which I'm getting from friends.
Haha for @teainbed Re the sling! BabyBjorn are ok as long as you keep baby facing towards you for as long as they can't walk. After that also better to keep them facing towards you but it gets less important once the hips get stronger. Besides, dirty looks are one thing, you worrying about them another! Let them mind their own business haha!
