I'm so impressed by those exercising! I used to attend a circuit class 3-4 times a week before bfp but had to stop as high risk, but even if hadn't had to there is no way I could exercise. Even walking the dog is a chore at the minute!

Skisunsnow · 21/03/2017 14:39

I'm the same, feeling so so sick all the time. The only time I feel ok is when I've done any exercise. But for the past week I haven't been able to find the motivation or the energy as I feel so sickAngry going to try and get out for a walk this evening.

88claire · 21/03/2017 15:28

So just had an awful time at my booking in appointment, first the midwife almost told me off for not being 10 weeks, I tried to explain they have gone by my last period but it was a miscarriage so the cycle was longer. It was like I was an inconvenience to her.

Then some lady in the waiting room got abusive because I 'looked at her the wrong way'. I was just in shock at her bright pink hair and eyebrows! I went and sat somewhere else and she started yelling at me across the room!

Then I had a student Phlebotomist who went tight though my vein and now I've got a dead arm with a huge blue bruise AND she had to do it again as she used the wrong bottles.

On the train home trying not to cry into my McDonald's chips (the only thing i can stomach right now). Feeling completely deflated and miserable Sad

Sorry for the rant.... Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Rayna37 · 21/03/2017 15:53

First scan this morning, one baby, heart beat there and waving away so all good. Put me back a bit in line with the longer cycles I thought I had so you can now add my EDD of 6th October to the list!

Did find it pretty uncomfortable, I'd had the 500ml of water but she said my bladder way full and even after letting some out before she carried on I was find it a bit uncomfortable, I guess with the bloating/icky morning stomach. Couldn't do the nuchal tests as the baby was not in the right position so I'll just have a blood test in a few weeks for Downs.

Time to start making plans now...registered for NCT classes and booked my 16 week midwife appt. Also, boring bit alert have you all looked at your maternity pay? I'm opting out of having my pension contributions done by salary sacrifice to increase the amount used to calculate my average weekly pay; for me the relevant months salary will be April and May which is sooner that you might have realised!

Glitterbubble · 21/03/2017 16:39

Oh my gosh 88claire that is bloody awful!! What the hell is wrong with people, horrible cow bag!!! I hope you don't come across her again in a hurry.... didn't you say you were a nurse? Their face is always a classic when you come across each other in a nurse/ patient situation 🙊😂
Hope your scan is a much more joy filled occasion and you will have the support of DH too Flowers

Congrats on the scan Rayna !!

ememem84 · 21/03/2017 17:34

Scan today. All good in the hood. 12 weeks 5 days. Two hands two feet and a heartbeat. All looked good.

Have now told the entire world.

Yay!!!!!!

clare omg that's mental (but McDonald's chips...mmmm)

rayna congrats!!

10storeylovesong · 21/03/2017 18:50

88 that's awful, I'm sorry you have a rubbish experience. Hopefully your scan will be a much better experience for you.

I've considered my maternity leave and pay - usually love my job but every minute feels like an hour at the minute. I'm currently sat trying to work out what the earliest date I can finish is if I start mat leave at 37 weeks and use annual leave before that!

charmanar · 21/03/2017 19:25

I think in nhs you can take maternity leave from 29 weeks. Which is what I will do! Not working a second longer - last time was hell and I used to just cry my whole commute.
I'm so jealous of everyone getting their 12 week scan, I've still 3 weeks to wait.
I made a comment on Facebook in relation to something else that I felt too ill to travel, and today all my friends have text asking if I'm pregnant, so the cat is out the bag! 🙈

greentreeseverywhere · 21/03/2017 19:29

yay yay yay I got my scan date next Friday so il b 13 weeks so excited as never made it this far before (had the scan booked but always miscarried before!!) So still holding my breath but it's not long to go and feels so different this time round Grin
telling both parents this weekend as seeing themy then will send them scan pics next week in a nice card Smile

Lovechild2016 · 21/03/2017 19:45

Lovely scan news rayna and ememem. Wish I knew when mine was so could get excited!

Sorry for rubbish booking appointment claire feel bad for saying don't take OH as sounded like you could have done with some moral support. Flowers

Thanks Rayna for the heads up about maternity pay. Definitely something to think about.

I was planning on working up until close to due date (I work in NHS too) but planning on stopping nights after 30 weeks and on calls after 34 weeks I think. Am I mad??

xxmissbrightsidexx · 21/03/2017 20:18

Hi ladies, hope everyone is okay x Great to hear so much good scan news Smile x
Im feeling really forgotten about, no midwife has been in touch with me yet so i have no booking appointment, no scan date, i dont know if everything is okay and im so anxious, even though this is my 4th baby im still a bag of nerves Sad x
Sorry for the whinge x

Kirsty8333 · 21/03/2017 20:28

I'm planning on finishing work at 35 weeks. Going to use 3-4 weeks holidays and then start maternity pay just over a week before due date. I prefer having more time off after the baby and have worked out this way I wouldn't be due back until beginning of July and can then use some of next years holidays so I don't go back until nearly August

DebsOctBaby · 21/03/2017 20:47

I'm planning on working as late as I can, I'm pretty lucky that my firm reduce my hours as I go along and I have the option for working from home as well for a day or two a week. I'm planning on taking the whole year as my firm pay 20 weeks full pay then I'll get 19 weeks of SMP plus I will use 6 weeks of holiday so we think we can just about afford it. Am glad I'm lucky with my firm though and appreciate what they do for me!

mrsbumblebees · 21/03/2017 21:28

Same here missbrightside, I'll be 10 weeks on Friday, not heard anything since my first appointment with the midwife about 3 weeks ago. They said they would call to arrange my booking appointment and that I would get a letter about my scan but I've had nothing so far so I'm worrying they've somehow forgotten me and I'm going to have to wait even longer for my scan. It's my first pregnancy and I've had really terrible anxiety so could really do with a chat with the midwife to try and put my mind at ease a bit, I really hope she is nice!! Hope that you hear something soon, the waiting is horrible isn't it! I've left a message on the answerphone but not optimisitic they will get back to me quicky Sad

xxmissbrightsidexx · 21/03/2017 21:47

Hope you hear something soon too bumblebees , no the waiting isnt nice, the receptionist at the Drs wont even let me make an appointment with the midwife myself, all i keep getting told is that she will be in touch x At this stage in my last pregnancies id been booked in by the midwife, heard heartbeat, had scan through, any consultant care arranged, this time i have seen nobody yet not even once & i feel a bit invisble x

xxmissbrightsidexx · 21/03/2017 21:56

On a less whingy note, all ive been thinking about is jellybeans, i really really want some but cant find them anywhere lol x

RubertRoo · 21/03/2017 21:56

Had my 12 week scan today... measured 12 weeks 5 days exactly as I thought! Due date is 28th September.

I have a tilted womb though so baby is hard to see but this should sort itself out as the baby gets bigger it should push my womb the right way round!
It does mean I have to go back for injections for the downs testing rather than from the scan today

So happy all was OK with this scan!

KitKatSplat · 21/03/2017 22:24

Without being too much of a buzz kill, how does the down syndrome test work? How do the results get presented?

Corrinax · 21/03/2017 22:26

Im 10+3 today i have been having some abdominal pain like growing pains etc but today its gone n as that was my inly symptom i cnt stop worrying!! I also was so worried 2 weeks ago as no symptoms and due to mmc last year i went for private scan....i twins!! But twin 2 stopped growing at 7 weeks and twin 1 had heartbeat i am just praying everything is still ok for my 12 week scan!

Has anyone else had growing pains that have stopped and came back or anything?

TippetyTapWriter · 22/03/2017 07:54

Bit worried as I had some bleeding this morning when I went to the loo. Pink rather than bright red and I don't have cramps just mild af type discomfort. I'm not sure what to do other than wait and see if it happens again? 10+3 today.

Corrinax · 22/03/2017 09:00

Dont worry tippety i had the same at 7 weeks and 9 weeks and had a scan at 9+3 and baby was just fine but i did hav a small bleed around the sac but im also 10+4 today and had no more bleeding xx

BrioLover · 22/03/2017 09:11

@KitKatSplat when I had DS four years ago the nuchal fold measurement was taken at the 12 week scan and some kind of calculation done with the blood taken at the booking in appt/scan. Then a few weeks later a letter with the probability of Downs (I think mine was 1:250,000 or something). I am not sure what happens next if the probability is high tbh.

GreedyDuck · 22/03/2017 09:44

If your risk comes back high, and you want a definite answer, you'd be offered an amniocentesis or CVS, some hospitals also offer NIPT now as well.

Both amino and CVS carry a small risk of miscarriage, whereas NIPT is a blood test (also known as Harmony/Iona/Panorama etc).

Corrinax I've had barely any stretching/growing pains at all so far. Mentioned it to consultant and she seemed unbothered. I think they come and go from what I remember the first time around.

thepotatoesofdefiance · 22/03/2017 10:22

Scan day, eek!
I am also craving things that I can't find anywhere, mine is nik naks crisps, nothing else appeals but so can't find them anywhere!

Starfish83 · 22/03/2017 10:41

Brilliant to hear the news of positive scan experiences. Potatoes, hope all goes well today ;and good luck with the search for NikNaks!) x
