Hi All

I had scan on Friday all ok, still not giving exact date just saying 9-10 weeks! Really snotty lady who done scan, but at least DH got to see little one, and I was reassured all ok. So roll on 18th August for proper scan, hopefully with picture and definate date, and then we can start to tell people (can't wait)
Still no symtoms just tender boobs!
It's going to be a mighty long fortnight.
Still no midwife or any paperwork etc??

Pidge · 04/08/2004 12:57

StaceyK - that's great news about your scan. Sounds like our dates may be pretty in tune, I'm 10 weeks today. I have my 12 week scan booked for August 20th and cannot wait, I so want that reassurance that everything is ok.

Thought my symptoms were fading a bit, but have felt desperately sick all of today. I'm finding it really hard to concentrate on doing any work, what with having to go to the loo thinking I'm about to throw up every few minutes. Such a bore. But I keep reminding myself it's worth it, if all goes well. Last night I got home to find my 2 year old dd had recorded herself singing Bobby Shaftoe on the tape recorder for me ..... so sweet!

munchkinsusie · 04/08/2004 14:45

staceyk - if you want a midwife all you have to do is phone up your doctors surgery and say you'd like a booking in appointment with the midwife (as soon as possible since you're 9-10 weeks which is when they like to see you first) and then you'll see one! i'm very jelous that you've had so many scans already though - they don't do anything at the first midwife appointment other than fill in all hte paperwork so i still don't feel like it's all real, whereas you've had so many scans already there can be no mistaking the fact that you've got a baby in there. i'm 10 weeks on friday - feels like time is definitely ticking away today!

Staceyk · 04/08/2004 15:02

I did ask at the hospital on Friday if I should contact my GP and they said no!!!
They said I should see midwife at hospital when I have 12 wk scan? Very confused not sure if midwife comes from GP or Hosp?
The hospital did say when I ask, that there are loads of midwives for area and I would have one indivdual as they all have different shifts and impossible to know when I'll give birth!! I did think I'd have the same person most of the time?

smellymelly · 04/08/2004 15:48

Hi Angeliz, I'm popping in from the Jan thread - and I just wanted to add that I felt Ds at 14 weeks, Dd at 11.5 weeks, and these 2 at 10.5 weeks. So you are right it is definitely possible to feel them earlier then most people assume. I can't imagine not feeling them until 20 something weeks.

They are kicking now as I type, and I love it!

bumpsy · 05/08/2004 11:44

Had my check up yesterday scanned and examined and all is well.Such a relief feel like I can start to relax a bit now.

Bumpsy - oh good !
Popsy, Milkybarkid - hows it going?

I'm still worrying about seeing blood every time I go to the loo (although I bled with dd and she was fine). I've got at least a month to wait before I see my baby on a scan though.

Seeing the midwife tonight, I'm praying that I will like her!

And telling dh's parents at the weekend. We're going to stay with SIL for the weekend cos its her 30th and she's having a big party. So got to keep my pg quiet until Sunday morning, so as not to steal her limelight (MIL will be totally overexcited about another granchild). So that could be hard work ("sorry SIL, I know you've been planning this party for ages, but I really do want to go to bed at 9:30" ) .

popsycal · 05/08/2004 14:25

fruitful - i am fine.
Fell much more pregnant now. No more watery spotting stuff since that one time last week. midwife did nto seem concerned. Scan is in around 10 days time!

How is every one else?

munchkinsusie · 06/08/2004 10:01

it's not fair. how come other people get to have scans earlier and i don't. i wanted to have my scan in 11th week rather than 12th since my dh is away 12th week and we're visiting our families at the end of 11th week so it would have been good to know everything is ok before then. but the hospital says that it wouldn't do a scan earlier than 12 weeks unless there was a problem - there is a problem! (ok, maybe not a medical one that's been identifed but i just need to know everything is ok before i start to tell parents and grandparents etc. - i mean, anything could be wrong and i just don't know because no-one's looked to check.)

munchkinsusie · 06/08/2004 13:57

Oops, sorry for the rant (i blame my hormones!) i've calmed down now and realise that it can only be a good thing that i've not had any problems and therefore not needed a scan. i'm sorry if my rant annoyed/upset those of you who've had scans because of real scares.

posycal - glad to hear you're feeling pregnant!

fruitful - we're telling my brother in law tomorrow (a week before we tell our parents!) because we're seeing him for lunch. exciting isn't it!

hope everyone is doing well and coping with all these changes going on in their body! (my friend said she noticed that my boobs have got bigger! since i was a 36D to start with that's pretty impressive!)

fruitful · 09/08/2004 10:57

MunchkinSusie - I'm with you in trying to be grateful that I feel ok! I have days where I feel a bit queasy, days where I'm very tired, and days when my boobs hurt - but also quite a few days when I feel completely fine and normal. Then I'm too busy being scared that something has gone wrong to enjoy feeling good!

I had a good weekend at SIL's - everyone was so busy they didn't notice that I kept sneaking off for a snooze, and they were all totally surprised when we told them. SIL is v. pleased as it takes the pressure off her for a bit longer .

Just got to decide on a midwife and get my scan booked now...

Pidge · 09/08/2004 13:35

It's impossible not to worry isn't it? And I feel sick 24 hours a day and I still worry that something's wrong ... which of course it could be. Oh for the reassurance of the 12 week scan. Less than 2 weeks to go for me now.

I'm also looking forward to feeling less awful as I feel like I'm a hopeless mum to my dd (aged 2) at the moment. I never have any energy, I can't bear to cook for her, I just want to lie on the sofa trying not to be sick whilst she entertains herself. Poor kid. Thank goodness dp is on school hols, so he's being a superdad at the moment.

Here's to the 'blooming' days of the middle trimester!

Staceyk · 09/08/2004 16:14

I'm still permantely worried and having trouble sleeping, still not feeling pregnant at all! and Although great to have my scan 30th July, and saw baby ok, still don't have exact date, scanner lady said about 9weeks, yet the lady who signed me in (a nurse) said 10weeks, as she said conception doesn't count, it's your last period date is worked on!
So today I'm either 11 weeks 4 days, or 11 weeks!!! Got scan 18th Aug (next weds can't wait)
Still not seen or got a midwife, Hospital told me not to go to GP, GP said I have to see them to get refered to midwife, so just to be on safe side I went to GP on Friday just gone, waste of time really, took BP and said she'll write to midwife!
Finding it really hard too keep quiet now, had big family meal last night with my side of family, and was bursting to say! Especailly as my sister will be away when I have my 12 wk scan and I'll have to tell her by phone, would have been so nice to announce yesterday! But No we will hold our tounges! thing is Scan on Wednesday and we are not telling people til weekend, as won't be able to fit in visits during the week!
And I could really do with a ciggie! But I haven't honest to God, haven't touched one since that BFP came up.
Oh my goodness sorry I am going on aren't I, apologises to all those I have bored.

misdee · 11/08/2004 08:28

Well, i have my scan next week, but am moving house today, so doubt i'll be online for a while to let you know whats happened. i dont really belvie i'm pregnant, even tho i've been sick most days it doesnt seem real. Must remember to take the pound coins so i get my piccie of the wee one.

Hope everyone is ok.

OP posts:
munchkinsusie · 11/08/2004 09:11

misdee - good luck for your scan. why do you need pound coins? do you need to pay for the scan pictures like at a theme park!! i haven't yet got my scan date through but i can't wait. it is true that until you see that scan it's hard to beleive you're pregnant.

staceyk - you said your scan was on wednesday - is that today? good luck if so! by the way, your weeks seem to always go by your LMP - i told them that i ovulated really late that cycle (ie three weeks in not two) so that really my due date should be one week later, but they didn't seem to care, just said they'd go by LMP.

we've decided to tell friends and work this week, so most people know now. it's been really wierd the differing reactions we've had from people. those who we thought were really good friends, and who therefore should have been excited for us haven't always been excited which has been disappointing. i told two girlfriends who i would have said were my best friends and they hardly said a word - didn't even ask when it's due or how i was feeling or anything. i've not heard from them since - i'm waiting to see if i ever do! on the other hand i have had great reactions from others who have been really happy for us so that's been good. i know it shouldn't matter - and it doesn't in the whole scheme of things - but it has disappointed me to think that my friends can't be happy for me.

anyway, hope everyone has a good day.

PreggieMum · 11/08/2004 09:39

Good morning everyone!... and today really is a good morning as I'm not suffering with any morning sickness for the first day since I was 3.5 weeks pregnant!!!!

Good luck to everyone with scans coming up next week.

I finally had my booking appointment with the midwife from hell on Monday see here for info .

I think I'm now just over 11 weeks.

We have told our parents now, but will not tell anyone else until after the scan.
I also found out that in our area you still don't get a scan until 20 weeks unless you pay and have scan at a private hospital! (Hence the lack of urgency for booking appointment)

popsycal · 11/08/2004 13:18

Hi folks - I had an early scan this mornign due to a repeat of the spotting I had afew weeks ago. All is well - string heartbeat, I am 10 weeks and 2 days pregnant (due date therefore 7th march). But I do have a small area of bleed but no where near the baby or placenta. Said not to be surprised if it happenes again but to go straight back if there is any change in what the spotting is like.

So I feel a bit relieved but still a little bit nervous. Hope all are ok!

aku · 11/08/2004 13:26

Hi Popsycal, I have been having spotting/bleeding as well and had to have a scan yesterday. All is well but can't relax as they don't know what is causing the bleed. I am now 8wks and had a scan at 6wks as well though to bleeding nothing found about bleeding but discovered twins!

Staceyk · 11/08/2004 13:34

munchkinsusie, wish it was today, but no it's next Wednesday 18th August, can't wait. Want to start telling everyone now.

Pidge · 11/08/2004 13:48

Hooray to aku and poppsycal for your reassuring scans. And big congrats aku on the twins - I saw your other thread, that is pretty exciting!

I have noticed the constant sickness is definitely down a notch now I'm at 11 weeks - still there, and still very much affecting what I can eat, but definitely more manageable. So am hoping that by the time I go on holiday in 10 days time I might actually be able to enjoy food again!

Hope everyone else is feeling ok.

munchkinsusie · 11/08/2004 13:56

preggiemum - what a nightmare. that's the last thing you need when your emotions are already all over the place! i hope you speak to her about it before she starts to carry on as if it hasn't happened (or else she might think she can bully you the whole way through?) anyway. i hope it goes better next time.

popsycal - glad to hear everything is ok.

SKM · 12/08/2004 15:01

HOW IS EVERYONE TODAY, I'M FED UP WITH BEING SO TIRED ALL THE TIME, ITS THE ONLY SYMPTOM I SEEM TO HAVE EXCEPT THE GENERAL CRAVING TO EAT ALL THE TIME, NOTHING IMPARTICULAR , WELL MAY BE PISTACHIOS
