TMI alert... so last night before I went to bed I noticed something in my undies. Nothing that I have experienced before and I'm thinking may have been part of my plug. There wasn't any blood, cramps or anything tho.

So when I woke up this morning I called the midwife and she took details. She said just monitor it and if it happens again to call and they will take swabs. I haven't had anything since but now I'm nervous and have been worrying at every twinge all day 😨

Fingers and toes crossed it doesn't mean baby is coming early. I'm 29 weeks tomorrow.

Panicking!!!

How is everyone else doing?

glitterglitters · 06/04/2017 15:57

Don't panic @LuciBee231015 I've been losing bits of plug for a few weeks now. It regenerates though so as long as it's not tinged with blood etc it should be ok :) xxx

LuciBee231015 · 06/04/2017 16:40

@glittersglitters Omg I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Been googling and that brings up all sorts. Saying it regenerates but sometimes not completely if the cervix has opened a bit, and you wouldn't know that unless you have been examined would you.

Defo no signs of any blood so that's good. Will just keep my eye on it.

I went gym and then for a long walk last night so wonder if that did it. Who knows...🤷🏼‍♀️

Seahawk80 · 07/04/2017 06:40

Had my 28 week midwife appt yesterday. I always want to laugh when they measure me with a tape measure - feels so old fashioned! First growth scan is on Tuesday along with another cardiac scan as they couldn't get all the measurements last time. Feeling quite chilled about it now but wil probably be worrying the night before.

glitterglitters · 07/04/2017 08:20

@LuciBee231015 I've already had a baby so it never quite "shuts" after that 🙈 sorry tmi lol. Midwife said there are a few different things protecting the baby so not to be too concerned. It's so easy to worry at every twinge and ache though. 🙊😱

mcnics · 07/04/2017 08:59

Most horrendous cramp in my lower leg again last night 😱 so painful!

Who is thinking of doing 4d video scans? They seem a bit pricey, but have been told they are really worth doing (especially if you are only having the standard 12 and 20 week scans on NHS)

rhodes2015 · 07/04/2017 09:44

Argh the cramps mcnics I had it last night too!! DH tried to help but I yelled at him to get off me Confused felt awful on him.

Has anyone else had a letter from health visitor to come and see you at home? I had one yesterday and she wants to come In 2weeks.

glitterglitters · 07/04/2017 10:41

Oooh I've not had mine yet. Do they only do it with the first baby or do they come for the second? My local hv team are really lovely :)

ButterflyFree · 07/04/2017 10:53

@mcnics Getting a 4D scan is soooooo worth it - you saw the quality of mine (which came as a surprise - sonographer was clearly feeling generous that day Smile) when baby was only 20 weeks. They usually recommend the best results from 28-30 weeks onwards as the baby's face is filling out more by then.

It was so amazing to actually see him looking like a real little human and DH and I definitely bonded 100 x more with the baby after seeing how real he is, if that makes any sense! He even smiled during the scan and it was such a magical moment. We got still photos and a DVD of the scan to keep. I'll definitely get another one at 30 weeks or so - would absolutely recommend getting it done if your budget allows.

glitterglitters · 07/04/2017 11:20

That sounds amazing! I would like to do a 4d scan but I don't think I'd be able to get dh to be interested. 😂 He'd think it was being frivolous and "Just be patient!"

LuciBee231015 · 07/04/2017 14:26

I haven't had a letter from the health visitor. Do they come and visit before you have the baby then?

I was kinda waiting for a groupon deal to come up with the 4D scans. There seemed to be loads when I wasn't pregnant lol.

Spindelina · 07/04/2017 15:35

HV stuff seems to be very location-dependent. I've just met mine (we met at the Children's Centre where she is based, which is closer to my work than going home would have been), and she seems pretty clued up.

Notyetthere · 07/04/2017 16:59

Nope. No contact from HV. Is it not still too early?

Like Glitter DH is not interested in finding out what the baby looks like. He says if he sees the face then he will have seen it all. He would rather wait till the birth to see baby's specific features.

The leg cramps! I last one two night ago. It is amazing that I struggle to get out bed but when a leg cramps strike at 2am, I somehow become very limber and jump out of bed like a professional athleteGrin. As recommended further up the thread, I will try the banana every day (I like mine very ripe) and also stretching before bedtime. I am a weak swimmer and can only do a pathetic breast stroke so I wont attempt that.

Luci how are you today? Hopefully your plug regenerates.

Just come back from 28 week appointment. Measured 29cm so outside the normal range but midwife wasn't concerned. Blood pressure also low s asked me to drink more fluids; easier said than done! Apart from these, still low risk. Even the discomfort I had with the pushing down feeling into the pubic bone dissipated last night. I guess baby has shifted into a more comfortable position.

OP posts:
ButterflyFree · 07/04/2017 17:32

@Notyetthere Haha my DH is the total opposite! He's too impatient and wants to know/see everything already 😅 We disagree about which features baby has inherited from whom based on the 4D scan - no doubt his little face will change a lot from that 20-week snapshot anyway.

If there was a way for my DH to find out our baby's skin, hair and eye colour from now, he would do it 😂 I'm white with blue eyes and DH is mixed - half black Emirati and half white Indian - so our baby's colouring will definitely be a surprise as there's such a remarkable range on his side of the family.

How much do they generally charge for 4D scans in the UK? Seeing as I'll be travelling at 31 weeks I suppose it's better for me to get my second one done here in Dubai before we leave.

Seahawk80 · 07/04/2017 17:58

@Notyetthere I'm a terrible swimmer too but am loving it as a gentle way to excerise. I used to feel bad that people had to overtake me but now I just think I'm in the slow lane, all these people with goggles on swimming like they should be in the olympics should man up and move up a lane!

Anyone else really miss drinking now the sun is out? Am going to sit in the garden with a non alcoholic beer Grin

glitterglitters · 07/04/2017 17:58

Oooh @ButterflyFree thats going to lead some fabulous combinations!!! Good looking baby!

I'm olive skinned, brunette, brown eyes (I've got a hint of Native American somewhere in my past apparently) and dh is very very dark brown/black hair (greying now bless him) blue eyes and fairish skin.

Dd is blonde as you like, blue eyes and English rose complexion. People think I'm her babysitter or childminder because she's almost a carbon copy of her dad (although she has my nose lips and chin but you have to know us and look closely to spot it). Her dad was platinum blonde till he was 10.

Secretly hoping #2 comes out tanned like me but I have a feeling those fair genes are going to override mine 😂

glitterglitters · 07/04/2017 17:59

@Seahawk80 I'd chew off my right arm for a big glass of wine Ina pub garden right now and I barely even drink 😂

glitterglitters · 07/04/2017 17:59

*in a

Spindelina · 07/04/2017 19:07

DH has just drunk a beer with dinner. I was envious.

Seahawk80 · 07/04/2017 19:45

Ha ha! Glad I'm not the only one!

LuciBee231015 · 08/04/2017 10:30

Yes yes yes to drinking with the sun out!! I could so sit with a nice chilled wine or prosecco!

@notyetthere no more signs of any plug so think I'm good for now. Didn't help with my increasing anxiousness but I'm trying to stay calm!

Had serious back pain yesterday after doing my cleaning, feels so much better today thank god. I could hardly walk and was dragging my left leg along!!

Notyetthere · 08/04/2017 11:58

Luci glad everything back to normal.

I think I also overdid it yesterday. I decided yesterday evening that I would go to London and spend the weekend with my mum. On my way I remembered that primark lakeside closes at 10pm so decided to pop in for a few things. 1.5hrs later, back to mum's and my left leg hurt; I had the same limp Luci describes. I couldn't put up with the pain any longer at about 4 am so took some paracetamol and felt much better about 1hr later that I slept till 9am this morning. Still no pain but I think I will take it easy today. Mum had plans to hit the shops later on today but I might just tuck into an ice cream instead. The next best thing to gin in this lovely weather Wink.

I picked up a lovely paisley cotton dressing gown that I thought would be perfect for my hospital bag. Light enough to hopefully not feel too hot in July. They didn't have dark strappy or button down nighties though. I don't want to wear pyjamas in the hospital though as it must easier if I need to be examined to just whip up a nighty.

I also bought 2 packs of black full cotton briefs so could just chuck them if I ruin them.

For baby - only a white cellular blanket as we basically have everything else clothes-wise and it was beautifully wrapped I couldn't resist.

Mum also has a big bag of baby items (i think mainly bedding/blankets) and maternity dresses. She apparently saw a pregnant lady in a lovely dress, asked where she got from and mum went the same shop and picked 3 of the same dress in different patterns😂. Bless her. At least I can now say that I have enough summery maternity dress to keep my pregnancy wardrobe interesting. They are a bit casual but I think if I throw on a blazer and smart shoes I could wear them to work.

So sorry to hear of everyone who's suffering with aches, pains and limps... I think I probably have the latest July due date on this thread so I'm a few weeks behind many of you - guess I've got these grumbles to look forward to 🙄

Today I hit 24 weeks (officially 'viable' - yaay!) but I'm having the most hormonally emotional day I've had since way back in my first trimester... Woke up at 9 and was back in bed by 12 noon feeling utterly drained, exhausted, demotivated and overthinking everything. At 2:30 DH came and told me his work friends had invited him to the beach and he was going to join them, and the minute he walked out the door I just started sobbing 😩 Then I felt so bad for being a drama queen, I started busying myself with household chores like doing the laundry - still sniffling away, mind - and 20 mins later DH burst through the door saying "Surpriiiise!!"

He had only gone to get me my favourite pomegranate frozen yoghurt from Pinkberry 😩❤😂 ...and there I was crying my eyes out like an over dramatic bag of hormones thinking "how could he leave me home alone and go to the beach with his friends when I'm feeling like this" 🙈

He made fun of me for crying but is being so wonderfully supportive and understanding. It's very unlike me to be oversensitive like this, so he keeps reassuring me and saying "it's normal, it's just pregnancy hormones" but I can't help feeling so silly 😅

glitterglitters · 08/04/2017 14:54

Oh bless you guys. I keep getting twinges in my back and under my bump stitches but my emotions have sort of levelled out.

@ButterflyFree not going to lie, no Pinkberry in England (at least nearby me) very jealous. I bloody love it. I cried my eyes out last time dh went out with his mates too 🙈

I've just got back from buying pants. Surprisingly I've bought a load of fancy ones from Victoria's Secret but they were all on sale woohoo. They were the only ones I wore during my first pregnancy because they were soooo comfortable. Plus they last and make me feel pretty 😂👍🏼 I've also got some horrendously huge pants for post partum from Tesco.

Knackered now and just want to fall asleep even though it's a glorious day outside 😴😴😴
