Shiny new thread!

I have only been wearing crop top type bras for weeks now, underwire bras are way too uncomfortable. I got a really comfy one in John Lewis.

After been catapulted forwards by 3 weeks the appointments are starting to come thick and fast, I have my anomaly scan and quadruple test next Friday and midwife the week after, followed by obstetrics team the following week!
I'm quite happy about it tbh after having spent so long in the first trimester wilderness...

Stuck at home today with suspected tonsillitis Sad

Brainfried1986 · 23/02/2017 20:51

Re: maternity clothes, went into New Look this week & they were having a sale - wooo! I raided their maternity section & got leggings, tops, a dress, a skirt, a tunic & a jumper. Was very chuffed with myself! Plus now that I'm telling people at work I can start enjoying my growing belly!
I've gained 12lbs so far and am only 17+1, didn't really get any sickness (not complaining!) so didn't lose any weight in the first trimester. Oh well, no point worrying about it, I'll just try to eat healthier when I can (just had half a bar of cadburys...oops...)

llemma · 23/02/2017 21:05

Thanks for the recommendation Denna, will need to get on it, had to go into the loo at work and sit there with my bra undone for 10 minutes today as it was killing! Hope you feel soon yolky

TMI26 · 23/02/2017 21:06

Hehe I've definitely put on loads of weight, shared news with my bf today who has just had a baby and said she didn't start putting on Amy weight at all until 7 months!!! Confused which is true because she looked very un pregnant throughout! I don't really mind about the weight gain tbh I'm too hungry to care my bigger bother is that I am put off so many foods it's difficult to satisfy the constant hunger!

slpro · 24/02/2017 12:15

I've been brought forward to 26th Aug x

HaichM · 26/02/2017 16:42

Hi all. Sorry haven't messaged in ages, struggled with HG, down periods and what turns out to be vertigo and hormone headaches.

I've lost about 15kg, not gained weight yet though starting to get a bump, HG easing but nothing else is better and am developing some back and pelvic issues. Boobs not grown so not really changed bras yet, though am sure I will be getting a non-wired one soon and hitting the maternity clothes as am almost 18 weeks.

Hope everyone is doing ok. Hi all

alloveragainchoo · 26/02/2017 17:01

Hi all can I join Grin
Currently 17w+5 due on 1st August
Can I ask cos really curious, is anyone starting to "look" pregnant yet?
I'm a big girl anyway but bellys defo starting to pop out and look quite rounded. I have such a hang up with it though, I've lost over 6 stone and being pregnant is bringing a lot of attention to my stomach, something I've tried to hide for years. Feels strange it's gonna be getting bigger,,, for good reasons this time lol

HaichM · 26/02/2017 17:03

Hi overagain, we're due the same day. I don't, though like you was larger to begin with and am only just starting to have a bump. I've had/ I have a lot of bloating still so I've been finding it difficult to know if I am getting one or not. When bloated I look VERY pg lol

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 26/02/2017 17:14

I look pregnant if you know me but I suspect I just look tubby to anyone else.

Haich That sounds awful for you. Hopefully you hg will continue to improve. My boobs have never changed in pregnancy so I don't think it's a given that they will.

llemma · 26/02/2017 19:37

I was big before too, i kinda of have a bump in that all my fat seems to have congregated in one rounded area rather than being spread out all over my tummy. Wish i looked more pregnant really as keep freaking myself out that something's gone wrong and wondered if looking pregnant might ease my anxiety, probably not though!

MrsG280516 · 27/02/2017 10:45

I think that I look huge (17+1) but a lot of people around my work building (people I don't work with but pass in the corridors/kitchen often) haven't asked or mentioned anything so I guess I'm at that "is she pregnant or just put on weight?" stage despite wearing some quite obviously maternity clothes!

TMI26 · 27/02/2017 19:16

Mrs G I feel your pain, it depends on the clothes I wear but mostly I'm just looking quite pudgy

Viper84 · 27/02/2017 21:01

Hi,

Would i be OK to join please? Been lurking for a little while but just got around to signing up :-)

Congratulations to everyone so far!

This is our first baby, I am due 5th August and found out on Saturday via a baby bond scan we are expecting a girl.

Just started wearing maternity trousers and jeans. I managed to get some nice jeans from Mothercare (Over bump) & Black Maternity Trousers (Over bump) for work from Next. I must say i feel like they are a grow bag, as they come just under where your bra would sit, but so much comfier that trying to fit into my normal bottoms.

H&M had some lovely tops and vest tops too, just paired these with shirts at the minute so gives plenty of combo's to choose from.

Has anyone bought anything for their babies arrival yet? Not sure when best is to buy... but would like to be prepared. There is also so much to choose from, it's a minefield! :-)

Sparklyuggs · 27/02/2017 21:34

viper84 welcome! I've been buying for my little boy, trying not to buy too much but also want to be positive and enjoy the pregnancy Smile

Just a reminder if anyone wants to join the fb group just pm me your email address!

Has anyone been to their first midwifes appointment after the 12 week scan?

I've got mine this afternoon, just wondering what to expect x

llemma · 28/02/2017 07:36

Snap Miss T i have mine this afternoon too. So cannot answer your question at all but hope it goes well for you xx

alloveragainchoo · 28/02/2017 08:28

At mine she did a urine sample, took blood pressure, all the usual stuff, but the best bit was I got to hear baby's heartbeat Smile
Have fun!

MrsG280516 · 28/02/2017 10:37

Same as alloveragain just a urine sample, BP check and she listened to the heartbeat :)

TMI26 · 28/02/2017 12:17

Snap, just got back from mine - she almost did not see me, but was lovely hearing the heartbeat :)

KR33 · 28/02/2017 12:20

Hey folks. Please can i join you! 16+3 with my 2nd - EDD 12th Aug. 2nd child syndrome has set in already and I'm only now getting around to joining this group, but I have found the one I'm (still) on from my daughter so useful I'd lile to join you lot too please :-)

thenorthernluce · 28/02/2017 14:41

My midwife didn't listen to the heartbeat at my 2nd appointment last Thurs - anyone else had the same thing happen? I'm feeling disappointed now! Does it differ between services?

Nightneverchanges · 28/02/2017 19:15

Can I slip in late? Expecting number 3 in early August.

As it's my third I started showing at approx 8 minutes pregnant!

MrsG280516 · 28/02/2017 19:56

thenorthernluce some midwives don't like to listen to the heartbeat so early in case they can't find it and cause unnecessary worry. Hopefully you'll get to hear it next time!

Sparklyuggs · 01/03/2017 15:02

Welcome newbies!

I got to hear the hb at 16w midwife appointment but it seems incredibly mixed as to whether you will get to or not, frustratingly.
