Oh dear @missm0use that sounds stressful. So is plan to stay on Arran and give birth at the cottage hosp? Or a different hosp on mainland? This is not the thread for it I imagine, but I had a horrendous time with DD's birth, and genuinely will panic having to set foot in that hospital again. But we live quite remote (currently snowed in!) and medical intervention saved her life so there's no way I would risk home birth for another. Otherwise I'm all for home births and wish it was something I'd be able to do.

DD was emergency section in the end so at the moment the only thing I can imagine is having elective CS this time. Which is strange considering how all natural I wanted it the first time but I've definitely been scarred by the whole experience.

powerpuffer · 23/02/2017 13:56

Emvy I'm sending positive thoughts and best wishes to you

emvy · 23/02/2017 13:57

I think I'd be too worried to have a home birth as well! As you say, if last minute intervention is required you're in the right place for it. I'd be worried that being at home would be too risky! Although my mum was a home midwife for quite a few years and never had any dreadful experiences, and it wouldn't be an option if it wasn't safe! I guess you have to do what you're most comfortable with as that will mean you're the most relaxed you can be.

UndersecretaryofWhimsy · 23/02/2017 14:03

emvy best wishes for good news soon and we are here for you in the meantime. [Flowers]

Glitterbubble · 23/02/2017 14:05

Sorry you didn't get the reassurance you needed emvy Flowers**

Thinking of you and hoping that next scan brings good news xx

Thinking of you emvy

CritterPants · 23/02/2017 14:43

Hello everyone, is there room for one more?

I have been lurking but would love to join. I am due 15th October (I think) with DC3, although I have a complicated history as my first DS passed away at a day old due to a statistically super-rare complication happening just before he was born. I went on to have another little DS a year and a half later, who is the apple of my eye, and is now 20 months.

All my pregnancies have been IVF due to PCOS, so I have an early scan tomorrow at my clinic to check for a heartbeat. I have also had a mc in the past and last year I had three consecutive chemical pregnancies (like super early miscarriages, between 4-5 weeks), all from IVF cycles, so am nervous but really hoping that this little one will stick around as I'd like to meet him or her.

So sorry to hear about those who've had losses and are going through uncertainty, hugs to you.

MoominMama22 · 23/02/2017 14:51

Welcome Critter sorry to hear about your losses, the devastating loss of your first baby boy must have been incredibly hard.... beyond words.
Fingers crossed for a heartbeat and happy scan tomorrow. Here for you!
I have a DD 22 months it's such a wonderful age isn't it? (although she has her moments!)

PlayOnWurtz · 23/02/2017 15:34

Lots of Flowers emvy and hand holding

Thinking of those of you who are having uncertain times at the moment.

Hi to all the newbies! We are becoming a busy month!

I had a call this morning from the midwives team asking me for my details so they could get the community midwives to make contact and look at an early scan. I'm a bit apprehensive of having an early one and getting my hopes up given my history. I had a rotten night throwing up all night been nauseous today but not sick. Also the cramping is getting stronger, no bleeding, but I had to pull over on the way to work it took my breath away. I asked about it and apparently as no bleeding don't worry! It's so painful though!

Bubbles225 · 23/02/2017 16:18

Hi all, not posted in a while. Hope everyone who is waiting good news gets it!!
I thought I had my booking apt yesterday but it turned out to be a urine sample and blood pressure check. I'm waiting for booking apt & forms to come in the post now.
Ive finally caved and booked an early scan for Saturday. Not for any reason other than impatience!

Told my patents last weekend as they were visiting (they live 250 miles away!) and I couldn't hide my food aversions! Here's to no more nausea!!

emvy · 23/02/2017 16:34

It's a difficult one isn't it PlayOnWurtz - an early scan is only a relief if a he is found and it seems that's so often not the case in the early days! I hope your cramping eases soon and you don't get much more sickness. Wishing you the best, whether you go for the early scan or not.

How far will you be Bubbles225? I had my booking in appointment this afternoon but she wasn't interested in taking any information unless my scan in 10 days comes back okay Sad the midwife was really lovely and kind though so that made it seem a little less worthless!

conkerchops · 23/02/2017 16:34

Thinking of you @emvy - we are all here for you xx

Bubbles225 · 23/02/2017 16:39

emvy I'll be 8 weeks on Sunday. Thinking of you, it must be very stressful Flowers

Starfish83 · 23/02/2017 17:04

Welcome newbies!

Dos anyone have any advice about skincare (specifically spot treatments)? Since my BFP I've broken out like a teenager. 😕 I used to use Origins Super Spot Remover on the occasional spot, but some say that this shouldn't be used during pregnancy. Any ideas of miracle-working skincare would be great!

⭐️ xx

PlayOnWurtz · 23/02/2017 17:18

I use cold cream then wash that off with micellar water. I have rosacea and it seems to help. Vitamin E I think it is is good for skin

hometownunicorn · 23/02/2017 17:18

starfish I've got horrible teenage skin too. I've been putting dilute tea tree oil on my spots which I think is ok. I'm not sure if it's super helpful but I feel like I'm doing something, which is important right?

Cath1212 · 23/02/2017 17:25

thinking of you emvy and crossing all my fingers

I have always had problem skin and dreading what the hormones might do to it! I have found this:

www.boots.com/la-roche-posay-effaclar-duo-40ml-10169551

works really well for my skin. In fact the whole range is quite good. I know its a bit pricey but for me it has helped

emvy · 23/02/2017 17:32

Ah wonderful, good luck with your scan Bubbles225

I've also been using micellar water as well to help my skin. Also been spot ridden and gross!

Starfish83 · 23/02/2017 17:36

Thanks so much, everyone. Looks like I shall be treating myself to some new skincare products. (It also makes me feel much better to know that it isn't just me that has broken out in spots!)

NannyOggsKnickers · 23/02/2017 17:42

Hello, again. I haven't checked in since the last thread. Fingers crossed for all with scans. I've been told that I'm consultant led again due to my weight. I've actually managed to gain weight since having DD. But that's not too bad. I'll be grateful for the extra scans later.
Good luck to all with early scans.

Cath1212 · 23/02/2017 17:43

@Starfish83 - always nice to have the excuse for new skincare/make up products!

CritterPants · 23/02/2017 18:04

Thank you for the lovely welcome. :-)

MoominMama. Mumsnet was super supportive and the ladies on the threads I was on were amazing at the time - I was really lucky. Yes yes to toddler age being great. They're like little drunk people! :-)

emvy was going to say - I've been in a similar situation and the limbo is absolute torture. I found that distractions (as far as that's possible) were key to dealing with the horrible uncertainty - please be gentle with yourself.

emvy · 23/02/2017 18:15

Thanks CritterPants. I'm definitely now trying to find things to keep myself busy! Distraction will be best for sure.

Rufus200 · 23/02/2017 18:38

My uterine discomfort has changed to full on cramps and lower back pain. This doesn't feel right. I never had anything like it with DS.

NannyOggsKnickers · 23/02/2017 18:46

Rufus Do you have an EPU to ring? Sorry if this has been mentioned before. I've found this pregnancy really crampy so far. I think because of my C-section scar.
