Hi everyone, sorrry people are feeling anxious and unsure about things. I suppose the fact that so many of us are worried is reassuring that it's natural and the most likely outcome is still a successful pregnancy. Obviously unable to take my own advice and feel v.anxious! 6 weeks today feels like a milestone. Thinking of em for your scan really hope all is ok.

My bloat is reaching new levels and I might as well get renamed farty pants.. Gross! Good job DH is working away.

Hi Undersecretary I'm sorry you're feeling anxious. I am in the same boat although haven't done any pregnancy tests since I found out, think I'm almost too scared to as I'll panic even more than I already am.

I'm sure the water intake could have diluted the HCG levels but if you're concerned can you call the midwife's office and ask?

I am 5+5 and don't really have any symptoms apart from tender boobs, so I'd see your mild nausea as a positive thing. In a way I really want to feel sick so that I know things are moving along.

Undersecretary try not to stress about the Clearblue. They are so unreliable! I rarely have concentrated wee as I drink loads of water and go to the loo at least twice a night so my "fmu" isn't too different to any other urine of that day.

5+1 is right on the border too so I wouldn't automatically expect it to jump. Every woman is different and we produce different levels of hcg - the 'normal' ranges are huge. Also, hcg in urine is a lot lower than hcg in blood. If you're really worried could you spare some cash for a blood test?

I got a 2-3 on Clearblue when I was 5+3 and I thought "oh fuck off" and threw it in the bin. There's no point worrying until you have something to worry about. Stress is not good for your body or little growing bub.

Thanks thatgirl, I've self referred to antenatal care but not heard anything from them so I don't really have anyone to call.

I'm going to take my last digital on Sunday when I should be nearly 6 weeks so if that doesn't show 3+ I'm giving it all up for lost. Thanks for your thoughts, fingers crossed for both (all) of us.

Thanks ThatGirl I've probably worked my dates out wrong but will check today with the midwife. My friends are the type that won't accept me coming on a night out and not drinking, the thought of them being annoyed with me being a bore is worrying me. I know I need to be selfish and accept they might be annoyed but it's so tempting just to say I'm ill and not go at all!

Thank you @thisismadness (still can't take people in black??!!) mine was at about 7 and a half weeks last time - I do feel v different this time and am trying to be v positive about it -seeing the counsellor lady again this am so she can talk some sense into me! And also the reassurance scan is thankfully in a diff part of the hospital and in another scan room from where I found out about the mmc ! So fingers crossed all will be well!!!! Scan is Saturday am so will keep you posted! Good luck to everyone else who has scans and appointments

undersecretary definitely don't worry about clearblue, mine was 2-3 at 5 weeks and wouldn't have tested again except that I'm so symptom free, now am finally 3+ though at 5+4. Was googling today and seems lots of women don't have symptoms like sore boobs in their second pregnancy as their bodies have already adapted, so am doing a bit better at relaxing about it. Still can't decide whether or not to get a private scan. Good luck for your scan today emz. I'm off today and just spent loads of money on material to make cute outfits for a little girl - fingers crossed!!!!! (My niece can have them if not)

undersecretary to be quite honest doing those tests just sound like another thing to stress over. Totally unreliable. I can see how now you've started its going to be quite hard to stop though, but the kindest thing you can do to yourself is stop doing them. I took one cheapo test (no digital thing) got a strong line and that's it. Didn't even do another one. It was quite a relief when the GP also did one and confirmed I hadn't made the whole thing up!

Oh missed a few posts, congratulations colourmylife It might be easier to pull a sicky for the night out, unless you can be designated driver or use antibiotics as an excuse without arrousing suspicion?

missm0use does that mean your heading for a home birth? Which island? (sorry just curious! Ignore me if you want. I'm NE Scotland and women from Orkney and Shetland often have to come here for maternity hosp)

Thanks tiny, I regret taking the stupid thing, but that does help and make me feel a bit more positive. I do feel more like I did on my last (successful) pregnancy than the one I lost but it's so hard to tell. It's the roller coaster of hope/losing hope I am finding so hard.

Another checking in. Not much to report her. I'm 6+5 today and feel like my symptoms are subsiding. Had a few waves nausea but not much else. Boobs are still tender but not unbearable. I have my booking appointment on Wednesday. Tempted to book a reassurance scan for next weekend but don't know if I can justify the cost.

CB 3+ tests have to have levels of HCG over 2753, I don't think most people would get those sort of levels till at least 5+3 if not nearer 6wks so don't worry.

Thank you rufus and everyone, you've eased my mind. I have honestly been trying to pretend that I'm not pregnant since I took it and bracing for disaster. Stupid I know.

Good afternoon all. As some of you know, I went for a scan this morning after a bleed on Tuesday. The results were typical it seems of lots of early scans - they saw all the things they would hope to see - sac, yolk sac and node, and dated the pregnancy at about 6 and a half weeks. However, they saw no heartbeat apparently they should usually hear a heartbeat at this point so they've said to keep that in mind, but that they need to scan again in 10 days to be sure. They said not to give up hope entirely as there are occasions where heartbeats aren't detected at this point and are later but it's unusual not to hear one. They also found a second sac that appeared empty that they want to investigate further and this could be the cause of the bleed I experienced. A very uncertain, scary 10 days ahead. So many mixed emotions. Thank you to everyone for all your well wishes and I will let you know of the results of the next scan. You guys have been a source of reassurance during a worrying time.

emvy big hugs. I bled with DS so had a scan at 5+something (can't remember exactly) they couldn't even find a sac. I had follicle scans so knew exactly when I ovulated. He is one now so don't give up hope. HB didn't appear until 7+wks

Moomin I'd like to have a home birth, but don't think DP would cope with it very well! I'm on Arran - there's only a small 'cottage hospital' here and I'll still have to travel to be mainland for all of my scans. I had to be over 2 weeks before my due date and then DD1 was two weeks over ... basically I had such an awful time in the hospital that I've said that would never give birth at the hospital! Other thing is IF I went to the mainland DD1 would need to either come with me or stay on the island without me and go to a childminder as DP works full time.
